Adventure
Just as you got to the door to follow Yarny, your Mum called to you.
"Me and Dad are going away tonight for work! Are you fine staying here for two days?" You called back to her, standing in front of the front door, sunshine gleaming in your face.
"Okay! Yes I'll be fine!" You wanted to spend more time with Yarny without your parents seeing, so them going away was good.
"I'm just going outside for a bit!" You called out again.
You grabbed your backpack and turned back to the open door and saw Yarny there, beckoning you impatiently.
"I'm coming," you mumbled so that your Mum wouldn't hear you, and stepped out the door.
That's when everything changed.
You were now standing in the un-mowed lawn of your old house. You had no idea how you got here, but the weirdest thing was: the grass was up to your waist!
You panicked and looked down at the ground around you, arms slightly raised. You then realised that Yarny had to be somewhere too.
"Yarny!?" You yelled out desperately, your eyes searching for him.
But, you realised he was right in front of you.
AND HE WAS YOUR SHOULDER HEIGHT.
"AHH!!" You screamed abruptly, stumbling backwards and tripping on something, then falling onto your backside surrounded in grass.
"Ohhhhh my gosh!" You struggled to get up, as you were entangled in the long grass.
You then saw two small red fingerless hands, almost like paws, made out of wool stretch out to you.
You let out a breath you didn't know you were holding and stared at the hands you knew were Yarnys'. You put one of your hands in his and he pulled you up, almost with no struggle. He then proceeded to run to what you thought was a mountain.
But really, it was the little stone wall that encased some plants in your old houses' front yard.
You followed Yarny who was now much bigger in size, to the mountain of a wall.
"Um- How is this possible?" You asked awkwardly to him while you were trying to make your way through the giant blades of grass.
You got no reply.
"Is this... In the past?" You asked again.
Yarny shook his head while still walking to the wall.
"In the present?"
He nodded his head and came to a stop, right beside the enormous wall. You were only a couple of paces behind him so you arrived too, still pushing your way through the grass.
"What are we gonna do now?" You craned your neck to see the top of the wall and so did Yarny. You were both standing there just staring up at the rocky wall.
He took a few steps backwards and made a stance that looked as if he was about to do something.
You turned your head to look at him, then back up at the wall. You noticed there was a small twig sticking out of a hole in one of the rocks. It had a small bit of red wool attached to it.
You looked back at him just as he unleashed his lasso again. You saw it fly out of his right hand and immediately attached to the twig.
Your eyes widened and you went to go join him.
He tied his wool to the ground somehow and the yarn made a kind of bridge up to the top of the wall. It seemed to light up with little red bits coming off it.
You were just wondering how that would help when Yarny took a step towards the bridge.
"Oh." You said with fear and doubt.
He looked at you then looked back to the wool. Then he just ran up the bridge like a highly experienced tightrope walker. He stopped at the top and waved down to you.
"How do you think I'm supposed to do that?!" You yelled up at him. He shrugged cheekily and put his arms back by his side to watch.
You made an annoyed sound and went grudgingly towards the wool bridge. It didn't help that the sun was in your eyes. It didn't help that Yarny expected the best.
But, despite the odds, you desperately tried to walk across the yarn bridge.
You wobbled every now and again, squealing when you did. By the time you had almost reached the top, your legs seemed to buckle and you lost your balance.
The fear rushed through your body and your heartbeat accelerated as you fell.
Just as you thought you were gone for good, you felt something wrap around your wrist; it tightened so much that you thought it might cut your hand off.
Then your body slammed against the rocky wall and you thought you heard something in your chest crack.
You now knew what had grabbed you by the hand.
Yarny's wool! He had lassoed your hand and was pulling you up to safety.
As he came into view, you grinned widely, and as soon as you reached the top, you scrambled over to him and gave him a giant hug.
He seemed surprised at first but then settled a bit and gave you an awkward pat on the back. You let go of him, took a step back and almost fell off the ledge again.
He had saved your life.
You had almost died.
What other adventures would the two of you have?
