Chapter 1: To Become Stronger
A/N: I finished One Punch Man Season 2 and rewlly admired Garou. So I decided to make this story, also because I was bored and it just came to me. Hope you enjoy.
Vale, Signal Combat School
The school of Signal, a school for young teens who attend there for combat training just before graduating to head off to a huntsman academy. Since it is located in Vale, its most likely that graduates will leave and head off to Beacon Academy, floating just above Vale, known for birthing some of the greatest huntsmen of all time. Right now, sparring classes are in session and there's an especially exciting match going on. Inside a sparring room, a class of about 20 students and their teacher/famous huntsman, Qrow Brawnwen, watched as two of their classmates faced off in a circular ring made of tape on the floor. The two students were both males, one hand slick black hair that was pushed towards the back of his head and yellow eyes. He wore a white long sleeve compression shirt that showed off his lean body physique, and blue baggy pants that were cuffed at the ankles. He wore only black socks as the floor was carpet and he didn't want to dirty it too much. This was Hiro L/N.
"Are you ready, Hiro?" Qrow asked as he looked at the young fighter.
"Yes." Hiro responded as he got into a fighting stance and had his fingers pointed out, having his hands in a knife-like style.
Across from him, the other boy had short white hair and dark brown eyes. He sported a short sleeved blue compression shirt that showed off a similar physique to Hiro, and wore black pants with black socks. The young teen went into a fighting stance as well with his hands open knife-style as well. This is Gale, Hiro's brother.
"Looks like your rearing to go, Gale." Qrow said as Gale smirked.
"I'm winning this time, brother. Your streak ends here." Gale said cockily to his brother.
"We'll see about that." Hiro replied with a grin himself.
"Kya! Do your best, Hiro!" A girl squealed.
"You got this, Gale!" A male student cheered him on as the boys and girls rooted all together for their favorite.
"Begin!" Qrow yelled as the fight began.
Just as Qrow sounded off, the two had dashed towards one another at great speed and moving their hands to strike, flowing like water.
"Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist!" They both yelled as there was a huge clash and the sound of fists crashing was audible to everyone.
Moving at speeds barely trackable, everyone watched in awe as the two brothers went at it against one another. Every time three lunches broke through and landed on Gale, Hiro would also be met with three attacks on his body. It was almost too beautiful to describe before one student noticed Hiro's back foot slide a few inches.
"You're getting momentum! Keep it up, Gale!" A boy shouted as the student's on Gale's side began chanting. "Let's go Let's go Gale, yeah! Let's go Let's go Gale, yeah!" They chanted as Hiro slid back again.
Not wanting to waste his advantage, Gale brought up his knee to strike him in the chin, but Hiro countered with his leg and kicked the attack to the side while sending a backhand to Gale's face. With his quick reactions however, Gale guarded with his right and forced Hiro's arm to recoil as he went for a straight slug to his face. With a grin on his face though, Hiro parried the punch and grabbed Gale by the wrist with on hand as he used his other to strike Gale in the chest. Grunting, Gale stumbled back while Hiro pressed forward and laid waste to Gale's midsection before sending a kick to his chest. Reacting barely in time, Gale crossed his arms in front of him like an X and they bared the blow of the attack as he slid to the edge of the circle.
"One last push!" Someone cheered for Hiro.
"Finish it!!!!" Hiro's crowd cheered together as Hiro dashed forward with an elbow strike towards Gale's guard.
Before the attack could make contact against him though, Gale grinned as he lifted his left leg and swung it over the boundary to stay safe while spinning backwards on his right leg. Hiro was shocked as Gale grabbed his elbow with one hand and grabbed his head with the other and proceeded to use Hiro's momentum against him, throwing him out the boundary and rolling into the crowd behind him. Everyone was in shock for a moment before Gale's side burst into cheers and rushed over to congratulate the winner on his victory.
"Nice move, Gale!" One boy praised him.
"That was amazing!" Another commented.
Just then, Hiro managed his way through the crowd and glared at Gale for a moment as everyone was tense, but then Hiro gave a cheesy smile.
"You got me that time." Hiro scratched the back of his head as Gale grinned.
"I told you I'd break the streak." He said as everyone was talking about how awesome the fighting was.
After classes ended and the day had finally finished, the two brothers were walking down the street through town and made a turn at the block to see a school nearby. This was your average school that just taught kids what they needed to be ready for the outside world, and the pair stopped by a gate as kids passed by and left, until they saw who they were looking for.
"There he is." Gale pointed to a kid as Hiro waved his hand.
"Hey, Y/N! We're here!" Hiro said as a pair of yellow eyes shot up with excitement.
"Hiro! Gale!" The two brothers watched as their youngest brother, Y/N, ran towards them with excitement.
Y/N L/N, the youngest of the three brothers. He had bright yellow eyes and black hair and wore brown shorts with a black shirt, white socks and white shoes. He walked up towards them and they all wore smiles, but the two older brothers soon had looks of worry when they saw some scratches on their youngest brother's face, and some more on his arms and hands. The younger brother stopped in front of them with a smile as Hiro spoke up.
"Y/N, what are those scratches on your face?" Hiro asked as your happy face soon turned to one of guilt and you turned away. "Did you get in another fight?" He asked as he already knew the answer.
"It wasn't my fault..." You mumbled while looking away as Gale walked up to you with a face cloth and began to clean you up.
"Was it Tatsu again? Want us to talk to him?" He said as Hiro suddenly placed his hand on Gale's shoulder.
"No, I have something better in mind..." Hiro spoke as you looked up to him and he grinned. "...I'll teach you the family marital arts." He said as your face lit up like a Christmas.
"All right!!!" You cheered as the three of you returned home.
After grabbing some food on the way back, you and your brothers all made it back to a dojo that doubled as your home. While you ran off to your room, Hiro and Gale were in the kitchen putting away the leftovers you all had, and Gale spoke up from the chair he was sat on.
"Do you really think they'll let you teach him?" Gale asked as Hiro continued to put the food in the fridge without looking at Gale.
"I have to try, after all...mom and dad don't see what we see in him..." Hiro said as Gale leaned forward to rest his elbows on his knees. "We're the reason that he can keep smiling...It's my job as the eldest to make sure you two are safe and happy." Hiro said as he closed the fridge and walked off. "I'm gonna go ask them now." He said as Gale didn't even glance at him.
"It is our right to make sure he's safe...but..." Gale trailed off in his mind.
After getting changed into a pair of more comfortable clothes, you waited in the training area of your house in excitement. Without you knowing however, up on the second story of the house in your father's home office, Hiro was on his knees in front of your guy's father.
"Please! I can train him and make him stronger! He can be just as good as us!" Hiro begged as your father sat in a desk with his arms crossed.
"I won't allow it." He answered sternly as Hiro gritted his teeth and he grew irritated.
"Why? What's wrong with teaching him?! He's family!" Hiro exclaimed as a thunderous slam echoed from the desk as your father stood up with an intimidating aura and Hiro grew fearful.
"I won't tolerate anymore of this nonsense. You won't train him and you WILL NOT tell him about this discussion. No one will. End of discussion. Am. I. Clear?" He said as his fierce eyes pierced Hiro and made him bow.
"...Yes, master..." Hiro spoke in a sad manner before he was kicked out of the office.
After that terrible interaction, you waited four hours on end until the sun had set and it was night time. You were sat in the center of a sparring circle with your knees hugged to your chest and tears dripping onto your shorts.
"...Liar..." You muttered as you sat there the entire night.
Middle of the Night
You were sound asleep in your bedroom that was bare and only had a bed, a drawer for clothes, and a desk for you to homework and other things. As you slept however, the door to your room slightly opened and your father peered inside while you slept before opening the door fully. As the sound of the door creaking open woke you up, you groaned as you sat up and rubbed your eyes as everything was a bit fuzzy.
"Huh? Father?" You spoke as he simply walked over to you and you looked up in confusion.
"Come with me, Y/N. It's time to begin your training." He said as he grabbed you by the hand and pulled you out from bed.
Not understanding what he meant and naively trusting him, you were led to the family car and were currently heading down a dark road that lead through a thick forest. You stared outside the window as you would notice red eyes from time to time and grew nervous at the fact that he wasn't saying anything. After a few more minutes of driving into the forest, he stopped by the side of the road and led you out to a clearing where the moon shined its light to make things visible.
"Father? Why are we all the way out here to train?" You asked as you heard his voice for the first time this night.
"I won't allow you to drag my son's into the mud with you." You heard as there was a strong gust of wind and you turned around in shock to see that he was no where in sight.
"Father!? Where are you!? What is this!?" You yelled as there was no reply and you desperately dashed into the forest to try and search for him. "Father!? Why!?! Please don't leave me!" You yelled as you looked to no avail and collapsed to your knees crying. "Dammit....DAMMIT!!!!" You cried out loud as your voice echoed through the forest.
Just then, you heard a growling noise that made you grow silent and shiver as you slowly turned to your left and saw a pair of red eyes glaring through the darkness at you. You trembled as you slowly backed away and heard footsteps stomp the ground menacingly. Eventually, you backed yourself against a tree and another breeze blew the leaves enough to shed moonlight and reveal a beowulf was stalking you.
"No...I don't wanna die...Why...? Why am I so weak I had to be abandoned...!? It's not fair!" You cried as the beowulf growled. "If only I were stronger...I'd show him...I'd show them..." You mumbled as the monster crept closer to you. "I'm gonna die without even saying goodbye to Hiro or Gale...I hate this...!" You cried as you shut your eyes and the beowulf roared while pouncing towards you. "I HATE BEING WEAK!!!!!" You cried out.
Play Song At Top
Just in that moment, you heard a loud crash and the sound of bones shattering as you thought it was over, but when no pain was apparent to you, you looked up and grew a shocked look when you saw something strange. A shadowy figure had appeared and its arm was thrust through the beowulf as the monster was limp before falling over and slowly dissipating. The shadowy figure appeared to be humanoid with horns as its eyes glowed bright yellow in the darkness and it turned towards you. You cowered in fear, but as you thought you were about to die again, you heard a voice.
"Heh, so the old geezer decided to toss you out, huh? To think he'd stoop that low. Idiot." You heard as you looked over in confusion and more moonlight peered through.
Looking up you saw it wasn't a monster, but instead it was a man that had the aura of a monster. He had long silver hair that was pointed up like two long prongs and had bright yellow eyes. He was visibly muscular but not that large in body mass, and sported a black long sleeve compression shirt with loose fitting white martial arts pants, and had a yellow sash tied around his waist with tai chi slippers.
"W-Who are you, mister?" You asked timidly as he smiled at you while pointing his thumb to himself.
"Call me Garou. I used to be one of your shitty father's disciples." He said as you were surprised.
"You taught under my father?" You asked as he nodded cockily.
"I did, until I got fed up with his crap and left. Leaving that place was the best decision I ever made, and I'm even stronger now because of it." He said as he walked over and leaned down in front of your face. "Hey, he just up and left you here to die, ain't that right?" He asked as your gripped the ground below you.
"Yeah...because I'm weak, not like my brothers..." You said as you looked away.
"Then, wanna show them something scary?" He suggested as you were confused.
"Scary? Like what?" You asked as Garou grinned widely.
"Let's show them the huge mistake they made by abandoning you here. I'll make you even stronger than he is and then you can rub it in your entire family's face. They'll know true fear when you show them the power and strength you've gained, and crush their hopes and dreams in front of them." He said as you slowly stood up. "Let's get you stronger so you can payback the wrong's this whole world has done to you." He said as you finally found salvation in your neglected life.
The Next Morning
At the entrance of Signal, students all entered simultaneously and chatted among one another over their plans for the day. Waiting at the entrance of the school was a young girl with long blonde hair and fairly curvy body for her age, this was Yang Xiao Long, daughter of Tai Xiao Long who is a teacher at the school. As she waited patiently, she was rewarded to the sight of Hiro who was heading towards the gate.
"Ah! Hiro! Good morning—!" She stopped herself when she saw the look on Hiro's face.
His face looked lifeless and depressed as his shoulders were slumped and he dragged his feet. Without acknowledging her at all, Hiro walked into the school without uttering a single word.
"Hiro...?" Yang muttered in worry as she watched him go.
As school went on, Hiro was not participating in any activities or studies. When it was time for free training he stood in front of a punching bag as he remembered the plain look on your father's face this morning.
"WHERE IS HE?! WHERE'S Y/N!?" He remembered asking in anger.
"You don't have to worry about him anymore. He can't distract you two from your priorities anymore." Those words rang in his mind as he clenched his fists.
"That bastard...he abandoned him..." Hiro's face grew angry at the thought of your father. "Because of him...Y/N...Y/N's..." Tears streamed down his face as images of your corpse covered in blood filled his mind.
Meanwhile, you were stood across from Garou in the woods as he grinned while you were covered in bruises and scratches.
"What'w wrong?! Can't keep going?! What happened to all that drive earlier, huh?!" He mocked you as you breathed heavily. "Remember why you wanna get stronger. Show me you want more power!" Garou demanded as your eyes filled with rage and you clenched your fist while charging forward with a fist.
"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!" You and Hiro both yelled as Hiro punched the punching bag with great force that the chain holding it rippled, while you were met with a fist to the face.
You slid across the ground as you struggled to get up, but much to Garou's amazement, you did. Blood leaked from your mouth and nose while your legs and arms were all shaky and trembling. You had the balls to even glare right at him as he smiled widely.
"That's it kid, great! That's the spirit!" He said as you got into a stance once more. "Now then, shall we begin?" He grinned smugly as your training began and you set off to be stronger than everyone.
