(Edward's POV)
As I got dressed for school today I couldn't help but think of how I ruined our date but the good thing is Lola accepted my apology. I promised to make it up to her and I don't even know how yet but I'm glad she was no longer angry at me.
"Jason be quick or I'll leave you behind!" I shouted as I went down for breakfast, he was always waking up late and inturn making me late for school . At the table mom was already having a cup of tea and some waffles with a style magazine in her hand. She raised her headfull of curlers as smiled at me.
"Hi Mom" I said smiling back and taking a seat as she passed me a plate full of waffle.
"Good morning Eddie" she said back, her Sussex accent prominent, just then dad who was wearing an apron brought more waffles he made to the table as he whistled a tune.
"Nathan stop whistling and eat, you've made enough waffles to feed ten thousand" mom said scolding my dad.
"Elizabeth you and I know that the three guys in the house would finish this and still eat more if it was available" dad said grinning and mom said something about boys eating like pigs.
"Ed would you like more waffles?" dad asked
"No I'm okay with this, this is a mountain" I said and he grinned
Mom and dad were always bickering about something or the other most times. They were high school sweethearts from England and they ended getting married and moving to America at some point in time. Their love story is beautiful in it's own way, they got married again six years ago after being divorced for two. I can still remember how dad always hung around the house when they were divorced and all of a sudden they got married again. They were a crazy bunch and I love them a lot.
"Good morning mom"
Jason said whistling too, I don't know what is making dad and Jason whistle this morning. I am just glad I wouldn't have to get to school late today like he makes me on some other days.
"Good morning honey, how did you sleep" mom asked
"Like a koala"
"You wouldn't be sleeping like that if you had to work for all the demands you make," dad said referring to the expensive car Jason has been begging for. He was grinning but we all knew he was serious.
"Mom, dad at it again and I haven't even said anything this week," Jason said looking at mom
"Nathan! stop teasing him," mom said almost screaming with a small frown on her face.
My mom was always treating Jason like a baby just because he was the last born and he also behaves like a baby too, requesting for things like he ought to have them, his recent request is still pending and I'm very sure mom is going to accept she's trying to play the hard card while hoping he would change his mind but Jason has set his mind on a Mercedes Benz, class A 220 a 2020 model, dad's intial reaction was priceless, he laughed in Jason's face and told him he could have the car when he was making enough money to buy it. He is going to get the car of his dreams I know that for sure but during his carless time, I'm his designated driver.
"Ooh dad made waffles," Jason said and began devouring his breakfast. We ate with occasional questions by mom and dry jokes from dad.
"Thanks Eddie for agreeing to drop Jason at school today, I really need to be at the spa for my appointment or else Melanie would postpone my appointment till God knows when"
Mom rambled on, my punishment was over since last week but she still has me driving Jason to and from school. Jason and I stood up to go, mom then stood and motioned for us to give her a kiss on her cheeks as we usually do before going to school. We said our goodbyes and left the house mom and dad shouting strings of advice to us meant for ten year olds.
The drive to school was quiet and short. Jason and I didn't have anything against each other but I think it was the stress of being teenagers that wedged a glass between the both of us, I love Jason but the comparison by people who knew the both of us did a lot of harm, I always had to hear how social Jason was and how my anti social behavior was bad.
Immediately we got to school Jason jumped outside the car before I could properly park the car,I didn't blame him because parking will prove to be a difficulty in the school cramped parking lot. I saw Lola's car in her regular parking space and it made me think of how I was going to make up for ruining our date on Saturday.
The hall way was filled as usual waiting for the morning assembly. Most students were in front of their lockers either rummaging through or chatting with thier friends,I spotted Lola taking some books from her locker then I walked towards her.
"Hi" she said
" Hi Lola,I am really sorry for saying that to you , I was so stupid and I love you" I replied akwardly
What I said must have worked because she smiled and it was genuine. Just then the big flat screen TV for the assembly was turned on and everybody immediately clustered themselves in front of it.
The board of directors of Beachview were always trying to make the school different from other private schools in the state. Instead of a morning assembly where the speakers are present in person, they decided to use a flat screen TV as though the students were watching the news, it also helped them with the extracurriculars which is mandatory for all students to pick, we were advised to participate in any activity which relates to whatever career choice we would like to go for. The students who had interest in journalism and film making where in charge of the behind the scenes of every assembly shown on the TV.
The assembly went on as usual with few teachers in the hall way to make sure we were listening attentively and not talking, the principal briefed us, talked about few students who were caught sneaking from school, the school journalist who was just one of the students interested in journalism passed some news, then there was the fashion section which was only given a ten minutes allocation. Immediately after the assembly the bell rung and everyone went towards their class. Lola squeezed my hands and walked towards her AP English class.

"I wonder who invented school" Lola said as we walked towards the cafeteria for launch. One of the perks of being in a prestigious private school in San Francisco was the food. The food in the cafeteria is always good even though not five star good but it's really nice.
After waiting in line for today's launch of some kind of sandwich and sweet potato fries Lola and I walked to our usual table and sat down. Lola's habit of easily forgiving was one of her endearing habits, I watched as she talked about everything not even mentioning fight or acting like we fought. I've finally figured out how to make it up to her.
"Would you like to have dinner at mine this evening, my mom and dad are going to some social event" I asked her as she stopped talking.
"sure are what are we ordering"
"I'm cooking, I promised I'd make it up to you so I'll cook something" I said and her eyes looked like she was laughing inside.
"The last time you cooked something what happened?" She asked trying so hard not to laugh but her lips were curving upward and her eyes was filled with laughter.
"I was trying a Mexican dish I've never done before to impress my Latina girlfriend".
The last time I tried to cook dinner for us by myself, I ruined the dish and wasted a lot of time preparing it.
"Okay so what would you be making today then?"
"It's a surprise"
I lied through my teeth, it was not a surprise but I don't know what I'll be making that wouldn't be too hard yet.
"Okay, I hope I'm pleasantly surprised" she said finally giving into the laughter.
We spent the rest of the launch break chatting before the bell rang and we both walked to class smiling. This was how I always wanted Lola to be, happy and smiling and not sad or angry with me. I felt like a huge load had been lifted up my chest and like I was floating in the air because of how happy being with Lola made me.
