#11
(Lola's POV)
"I had a great time today Ed, thanks," I said smiling at Edward and thinking about the laughs we've shared today.
"Me too, I'd love to do this every day with you" Edward said looking at me, his eyes were so sincere, I felt a blush crawl up my face, he then held my face in his hands as he kissed me slowly, the kiss was sweet and familiar, it was filled with love and care. When he pulled away and smiled I wanted to change mind and spend the night here but I remembered that I was still in my uniform.
"See you tomorrow then?" Edward said as he opened the door for me to get in.
"yeah see you tomorrow." I waved as he watched me driving away. I'd also love to spend every day like this with Ed laughing and talking about important nothings.
The smile on my face throughout the drive back home and the peaceful atmosphere also gave me high spirits. As I pulled into the driveway, I saw mom's car and Immediately I knew I was in for a round of scolding when she saw I was still in my uniform.
"Hey princess," my dad said as I walked into the sitting room and I smiled back. Mom who was just taking of her shoes looked up and then the scolding began but I was too happy to care today. I quickly freshened up and sat down with mom and dad who had also had dinner just for little catching up before I went to my room to sleep.
I texted Edward to let him know I was home and layed still with my lamp on reflecting a little on my day which went great before falling asleep.
Tuesday and Wednesday rolled by almost uneventfully except for me going over to Chloe's house to hang out and do assignment on Wednesday but Thursday was planning to be different and I knew it. This morning mom was at home baking and dad went on a trip to LA before I woke up talk about strange things happening.
After I had my breakfast and one of the suprisingly good muffins my mom made and also packed for me to take to school, I drove to school and I was early because Edward met me in history class when I was already seated. He was a little distracted throughout the class and I was unable to really talk to him and history was the only class we had together today, I'd just see him during lunch then.
During lunch I sat at our table waiting for Ed while eating one of mom's muffins because I wasn't really hungry. The school cafeteria was bustling with little noises from student groups who sat with their friends. I picked up my phone to call Edward but I was distracted by the sight of the whole basketball team walking into the cafeteria Laughing - intentionally calling attention to themselves and they were succeeding. I saw Edward in their midst and then he smiled at me before going over to sit with his tteammates shocking me to my bones.
When we lived in New York, I always sat with my friend group at the table during lunch, moving to San Francisco I didn't really make any friends who I could seat with then I met Edward who also sat alone till we both started having lunch on the same table since we became friends and started dating . Now all of a sudden Edward left me at the table without any warning prior and I'm shocked because he never sits with the team since I knew him and team meetings were always discussed either in the locker room or on the court. I looked over to the table where the basketball team sat and saw Ed laughing freely with them like he had no care in the world, maybe I was over thinking this because I felt annoyed.
After school I met Edward waiting beside my car scrolling through his phone, I walked over to my car and then he looked up.
"Hey babe," he said not noticing the obvious frown on my face.
"Hey, I thought you would be busy althrough today seeing as you didn't have the time to have lunch with me," I said trying to sound casual, though it was far from how I felt.
"Oh, I'm sorry about that I just decided to sit with the team today."
"Randomly?"
"No not Randomly, coach Carlos made a few changes to the basketball team from ninth to twelve grade so we decided to spend time getting to know each other better. Especially since I've been changed from small forward to power forward," Edward explained ending his explanation with terms from basketball I didn't understand.
"You should have at least called or send a text," I replied my anger fading away till Edward decided to get me mad all over again by saying something stupid.
"Why are you making it a big deal?"
"I'm not making it a big deal, how would you feel if I cancelled our plans without notifying you?" He didn't say anything, he just kept staring then I continued.
"I waited for you during lunch just to see you going over to sit with your teammates when you don't do that before."
" I was happy trying to get to know them and also getting to play power forward, I expected you to be happy for me too since you've always been the one encouraging me to talk to more people," Edward said his voice rising a little. I think he is misunderstanding me and if I don't explain myself this would become a fight which I don't want.
"Look Ed, I'm really happy you got to play power forward and you are starting to mingle with your teammates, what I'm mad about is the fact that you didn't even tell me you weren't having lunch with me, you just left me sitting alone without any clue."
"I forgot to call or text because we spent time with coach on the court today."
"Now you get it, I'm not saying you always have to seat with me but please inform me so I don't have to spend the whole day waiting for you."
"I'm sorry for not informing you then," Edward said giving me a small smile
"That's fine, I'll call you when I get home because I need you to explain what power forward and small forward means again." After that we both laughed, Edward gave me a long hug and I got into my car then saw Jason arriving at the parking lot through my rearview mirror while I drove away.
I turned on the radio and let the sound of a random song fill the air around the car, since I left school a little late today I was hoping to meet my parents at home and have a chat with them just to catch up on the times we had missed together which was a lot. I promised myself that I'll always try to never be out of touch with anyone close to me. It's funny how I live with both my parents and we tend to go days or even weeks without having a real conversation and survive on just greetings and casualties or sometime nothing at all.
What my Mom and Dad said about me modelling and featuring in an add kept circling around my mind for the past week, although I have shoved it as far away as I could but I can't help thinking about the adrenaline from walking on the runway, the flashy lights, the attention, the beautiful clothes and all the glamour.
The sun was at it's highest in the sky, the heat has been terrible lately and the short sleeved shirt of my uniform was not helping in the least, I wish I could wear a strappy summer dress to school but the principal would have a heart attack. I passed by a wine shop where they were currently offloading crates of drinks from a truck and I remembered this weekend was uncle Alex's party.
A smile came to my lips at the thought of seeing most of my cousins, they could be very annoying but I'll enjoy being in the company of family. Dad had gone on a trip today to LA, he might be back already. I feel like I haven't really spoken to him in ages, the last time we had some sort of a conversation was when he told me about mom's new line. That thought again...
I was at the house already, I opened the gate and drove in, parking in the empty lot of the house, it looks like Mom and Dad are not back, so much for catching up. I rang the doorbell to see if anyone would open or I'll have to use the spare key and almost immediately, the housekeeper opened the door with a smile on her face.
"Hi Amy," I said giving her a smile of mine.
"Hi Lola, how was school today?"
"Good. My parents aren't home yet?"
"No, your mom might be a while because she left about an hour ago."
Thinking about how much time mom and dad spend working often makes me angry or sad, this was the same cause of our problems but to them they had fixed it by having little private family time with me. Amy walked towards the kitchen and I followed her because I didn't want to be alone right now.
I watched as she loaded the dishwasher and began cleaning the pantry. Her petite figure moving swiftly around the kitchen, her brown hair was tied into a bun and her attention was focused on her chore.
Amy started working for us when we moved here, she was among the few staffs Mom hired, she was a young woman in her late twenties at most and she came in four times in a week, only to clean but she had been coming for the whole week since last week because she had to cook since Mom was a bad cook, dad was always busy and Beatrice was on three weeks leave.
"Would you like something to eat Lola?" Amy asked after she noticed me staring, her brown eyes held concern in them.
"Oh no, I'm not hungry."
After that, I made my way upstairs, my room door was slightly opened, Snow was lying on her bed, her eyes close. I ruffled her fur with a smile and she opened her eyes licking my fingers.
"Hi, Ms Snow, how was your day?" I asked despite knowing she could not talk.
I played with her a little then I went into my closet with snow trailing behind me. The house was so quiet, although I have Snow to keep me company, I would have loved to talk to someone, it was times like this I missed Leo, he could be a pain in the ass but I guess all siblings were. Maybe I should go over to Edwards house or even Chloe's, but my brain made up reasons why I shouldn't so I decided to take Snow out for a walk.
Since I decided changing most things about how I was before down to my clothes, it had been easier to pick an outfit since I wear basically the same thing most time. I pulled out an oversized Fendi shirt, a black short and my go to white converse to put on for our walk. After I put on my clothes, I picked up Snow's leash and she wagged her tail happily making me smile.
"Amy I'm taking Snow for a walk!" I called from the door.
"Okay be back before it gets too dark," she called back from somewhere around the house.
The sun has already set and the sky looked a little bit gloomy like it's mood was in the damps. Snow walked excitedly in front of me like she was happy about her walk, her happiness was infectious because it actually got me to smile.
As I rounded the corner from our street, the fast paced life of San Franciscans kept me busy. There were people doing random things like jogging, walking alone or with their pets and some people were just walking purposefully to a destination I don't know. There were lights from buildings and little stores around the corner and the ambiance of it all made me love this city more. When my parents decided to move to San Francisco, I was a little bit skeptical because San Francisco felt like a smaller New York City because of how busy it was, I was scared the press would somehow always hound us like they did in New York but they didn't, which I'm thankful for.
My mind kept wandering through different things, like my life in New York, I missed going out with my friends almost every weekend, most of them were just acquintances but I missed all the fun. Though I wouldn't trade my quiet life for that, I know how much I've lost being such an outgoing person. I stopped and focused on where I was when Snow stopped beside a food cart. The cart was decorated with lights and a cheesy paint deco, the name Foodly was written at the top of the cart, I looked around and noticed there were small colorful tables behind the cart, I saw a little squishy ball which Snow was busy bitting, I guess that's what was responsible for the stop.
I wanted to keep walking but decided to get a burger or something from the cart, I wasn't really hungry but the shinny lights and decorations were calling to me. I stood in a short queue waiting for my turn with Snow being a little impatient, I hope she doesn't make a fuss. When it got to my turn, I ordered a mini burger which I was glad for because it was just as small as I could eat.
There were also a few benches scattered behind the cart that I didn't notice before, now that I did, I walked towards it with a small container of vanilla cookies for Snow. I sat down and hooked her leash to the leg of the bench so that we could both eat without any hassle, I don't want her running off or worst disturbing other diners.
Immediately I tasted the burger, I fell in love with this small eat destination because their burger was amazing, I wasn't a food connoisseur but I could write a whole book of appraisal for the flavorful burger. I was at my last bite when I heard an almost familiar voice.
"Look who we have here."
A/n Hello again loves, my inconsistency with my books need to be treated *sigh* I can't remember the last time I updated and I'm sorry.
Although I'm talking to myself right now because the last chapter is at one read and probably this wouldn't have any but that aside...
Could you guess who the "almost familiar voice" is, indulge me with your answers puhlease haha.
So I hope you enjoyed this chapter, thanks for reading, remember to comment, vote and share.
