Chapter Five

(Sorry to everyone who likes this book, I'm just really lazy and haven't been getting any ideas but here's another chapter anyway, please don't hate me.)

I woke up groggily, wrapped in warm sheets, and surrounded by the smell of smoke. I didn't recognize the room I was in. 'What?' I thought. 'Where am I?' I sat up slowly, taking in my surroundings. It was a simple bedroom, not much in it. Just a bed, with a desk near a window on the other side of the room.

'Is this Clovers room? I'd have thought that she of all people would decorate her living space,'

Anxiety filled my senses, as I started wondering where I am, who took me here, and why they did so. The sheets I was laying down in were ripped, and gross feeling. Like wearing clothes that have been worn everyday for six months and never been washed. I stepped out of the bed warily, only to find myself in large, baggy clothes that definitely didn't belong to me.

'W-where are my clothes?? Who's clothes are these?'

I almost started heading towards the door out of the room, but just as I took my first step, my thoughts span out of control. 'What if I was kidnapped and outside right now is my kidnapper, doing something that I shouldn't see, so they kill me on sight?'

Just as this thought came to my head, the door opened and I nearly jumped out of my own skin. I stared at the person holding the door opened and examined them.

"Ember?" I exclaimed, surprised to see him of all people.

"Oh, you're up," He said, nonchalantly.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
Ember raised an eyebrow and he looked at me as if the answer was the most obvious thing in the world. "I live here, dipshit,"
"Oh," I sighed, slightly embarrassed. "Wait a minute, did you take me here?"
"Yeah, I saw you passed out on the dance floor last night and took you back to my place. Couldn't just leave ya there," He shrugged.
"Why didn't you just take me to my apartment?" I snapped back, still cautious though.
"It was locked and I don't have the
key for what I would think to be
clear reasons,"

"Well, thanks for getting me out of there anyway. You didn't do anything... weird, did you?" I squirmed at the thought of him doing anything creepy to me while passed out.

"Of course not! What do take me for?
A rapist?" He looked almost offended that I would even imply that kind of thing.
"No. I'm just- making sure," I dusted myself off before regaining my composure. "Where did you happen to put my things?"
"On the couch," Ember said, pointing his thumb out the door. "You can change in the bathroom if you'd like,"
"Thank you," I replied politely before rushing out and grabbing my clothes.

I walked quickly into the bathroom and slipped into my dress, since it was the only clothing item that I actually owned while still at Embers apartment. I knocked on his bedroom door, his pajamas in hand. He opened the door, looking annoyed at me.
"What?" He said, angrily as he pulled off his blaring headphones. They were playing some rock song that I've never heard, but didn't care for.
"Sheesh, I just wanted to give you your clothes back," I replied, handing him the pajamas.
"Keep 'em," He told me, slamming the door in my face.

"But I don't want them!"
"And I don't give a forth of a fuck!"

I stomped angrily and carried the pajamas home. I only had one pair of sleep ware so I figured I might as well.
I threw them onto my bed, making a mental note to throughly wash them later.

I slipped off my dress and hopped into the shower, letting the lukewarm water run down my body, cleansing me of any smells or lingering thoughts from last night. I thought about Clover instead, and how she's probably worried as hell about my whereabouts and if I'm safe or not.

After my shower, I put on my cozy pink bathrobe and tied my hair into a towel. I sat down on my bed and picked up my phone to call Clover and tell her that I'm alright, only to find about a thousand texts and missed calls from the flamboyant fox.

"Oh Clover," I sighed.

I tapped one of the missed call notifications in my phone to call her back and almost immediately she picked up.

"OH MY GOD WHERE WERE YOU ARE YOU OKAY WHAT HAPPENED?" She yelled over the phone.
"Clover! It's alright, I'm safe. Ember took me to his apartment last night and now I'm just sitting here on my bed,"
I could almost feel her heated cheeks from over the line.
"I swear if he did anything to hurt you I'll give him rabies!"
"He just put me in his bed, everything is fine."
"He let you sleep in your 'so sparkly that you could outshine the sun' dress?"
"No, he put me in his clo-

I stopped dead in my tracks.

"Oh god he undressed me!" I shouted.
"I'LL KILL HIM!" Clover yelled over the line. "You wore a bra, right? Because that dress was strapless, I remember it perfectly!"
"Yes, I wore a bra," I sighed, relieved at the fact that I had bought a strapless bra while we were shopping for the dresses.

I heard Clover sigh exasperated over the line. "Thank god for that. Anyway, what happened last night?"

'Skippin' right to the hard questions, huh?'

"Erm, I think I became a bit to overwhelmed and passed out, it's not a big deal it happens all the time..." I said, my tone growing quieter and more timid with each word that escaped from my lips.
"You just pass out from time to time?" My vixen friend asked.
"Well no. I just- get stressed in stressful situations a lot," I rubbed the back of my neck, thinking about how stupid I sounded.
"If that was stressful to you, then you should have told me. We didn't have to go to that club,"
"I know I know, I'm an idiot for even saying yes in the first place. But I didn't want to keep you from having fun,"
"I could've gone by myself, I do that all the time already. I'm happy if you're happy,"

The corned of my lips perked up, forming a sort of half smile.
"Thanks Clo," I said.
"Anything for you, J-Lee," I could almost hear her grin from over the phone. I was so lucky to have met
such a great friend like her.

Later that evening, Clover had come over and we were just sitting on my bed and talking. I was actually glad that she did, because I really felt at peace when she was around, and after everything that's happened over the last few days, I really needed some of that.

She also brought over triple chocolate brownie ice cream, which definitely helped.

"I'm just gonna be honest here," Clover said as she swallowed a bite of ice cream.
"You should knock on his door, and when he opens it, you sock him right in the face," I gave her a puzzled look.
"Why would I do that?" I asked her. "He took your clothes off without your permission! How is that not reason for a swift kick to the groin?"
"I'm sure he did it quickly and respectfully." I was lying to myself more than anything because I'll be damned if I wasn't scared of him doing that just to be a creep.

"Well I wanna confront him!" Clover stood triumphantly.
"Please don't," I pleaded.
"It's too late! I've made up my mind!" The fox ran towards the door and I scrambled to get up and catch her, which was hard because she had four legs and was really fast.

Clover made her way out of my apartment and banged on Embers door. I hurriedly swooped down and picked her up but before I could run, I heard the door open.

"Holy shit, what do you want now?" I heard a groggy and tired voice say.

"Nothing!" I yelled trying to cover up my embarrassment. " My friend here just thought it would be funny to knock on your door!"
"You undressed my best friend without her consent you perv!" Clover shouted.

'Aw Christ,'

Ember looked at the both of us with confusion and offense. "What? You mean when I took her out of that ugly ass dress?"
"I picked out that dress for her!" Clover huffed.
"Why does it matter? I just put her some pjs, no harm done,"
"No harm done?" Clovers cheeks almost started tinting pink. "Why you-!"
"I'm GAY." Embers cold voice cut through, interrupting Clovers anger.

We stared at him in shock.
'Not the most practical way to come out, but it's a way,' I couldn't help but think to myself.
"Now are you two girls done bitching because I was in the middle of something and I'd like to get back to it?" The demons eyes pierced through to our souls. Clover stood still for a minute before saying blankly, "Uh yeah, bye then,"

Ember slammed the door, looking angrier than when he opened it. The vixen I was holding in my arms pursed her lips before asking me to put her down. I complied and we walked back to my apartment, sitting down on the couch and returning to our ice cream.

I looked at Clover, eyes half shut and brows furrowed. "I told you not to knock on his door, a-hole,"
