Fourth life prt:6
For reference, the 'Box' that Bāsuto uses is basically just a rubik's cube, but with seals on each square.

This is about where I'd expect a training montage to happen, but unfortunately I will have to go through this entire month of training.
"Before we begin training, I would like for you to give a detailed description of your current capabilities." Danzo asked as we stepped into his personal training ground.
"I believe you have already seen my file Danzo-sensei." I deflected, already knowing the next words that would come out of his mouth.
"You know as well as I do that they are not acurate of your true capabilities, even if your performance in the chunin exams is taken into acount." He replied, almost amused by my attempt.
"Hai, danzo-sensei. Using the shinobi system, from rank D To S, my skills are as follows.
Ninjutsu: B
Genjutsu: Low A
Kenjutsu: High B
Chakra control: A"
"And what of taijutsu?"
"...Taijutsu: D..."
"It seems that one thing about your file that is acurate." Danzo noted, but I could see the small look of disappointment on his face.
He nodded his head as he thought over the estimates I had given him.
"Considering who your first opponent is, it would be highly improbable taijutsu would help you at all, so we won't focus on that over the course of this month, but know we will fix that issue before it becomes a potential risk." His gaze hardened at this remark, promising painful training in the future. "For now though, we will most likely be working on ninjutsu, chakra control, and kenjutsu. Genjutsu will not be of much worth either with the amount of dojutsus in the finals." He explained, while leaving no room to argue.
Not that I would anyway, everything makes logical sense.
Finally finished with his mental evaluation, he called one of his Root anbu.
"Before we move forward, I would like to reiterate this a final time. Root is a secret operation and no knowledge of it must be shared to anyone, no matter whom. I have informed you of it's existence because I believe you will be a valuable asset in the future, and I believe you know what would happen should you reveal anything about it." The threat was left unsaid, but I'd have to be blind not to notice it. Once it was clear I understood, he continued. "That being said, any new techniques or jutsus you see or learn within this organization must be kept secret. Many of my members have very specialized and unique skills, and any mention of them could put the entirety of root at risk. Is that understood?"
"Hai Danzo-sensei."
On the bright side, this will also mean danzo won't let any Yamanaka's look through my memories.
"Good, now head to the ring and face your opponent to the best of your ability. Do not hold back, even if it means maiming or potentially killing your opponent." He ordered, moving to the side line to watch aswell.
There wasnt much to see in the Ring itself. It was a 20 meter by 20 meter square, the only thing discerning it from everything else was a small elevation difference. It blended well with everything else in the underground base, and would be hard to notice if your weren't really looking for it.
"Spare no mercy for the enemy." I stated as I also got into position. He nodded in approval.
There was no warning to the beginning of the match, only the Nameless Root member charging at me at a high speed. I dodged to the the left of the strike, retaliating with a slash to the jugular with my kunai. He dodged the blow with small backstep. Seeing the opportunity, I pressed the advantage and moved to take another swipe with my kunai, this time at his legs. Instead of dodging again, he grabbed my wrist and threw me over his shoulder, but not before striking my right forearm. I quickly flipped and landed on my feet, throwing a few shuriken with my left arm at him while doing so.
It seems he's focusing mainly on taijutsu, emulating the gentle fist style to an extent. I guess I'll do what I had in mind for Neji then
I pressed forward, a now unsealed Ninjāto in my hand. He moved to punch me in the stomach, but I deflected the blow with my weapon. He continued to rapidly strike, leaving no room for a counter attack. After a blow that I deflected a bit more to the left then the others, I grabbed a kunai and thrusted it forward, directly towards his gut. He struck my arm once again, easily stopping the strike from my already injured arm. I pressed onwards undeterred, going for a slash at his legs with my Ninjāto with my left. He leaped backwards, creating distance between us.
Using the small lapse in fighting to my advantage, I threw a small amount of senbon towards him. Instead of dodging them, he made a few hand signs, resulting in the senbon being blown away.
That's definitely not a coincidence. This Root member was chosen specifically because of their similarities to the Hyuuga style, and neji's eight trigrams palm revolution
Using this small distraction, I ran and leapt over top of him, raining down kunai while doing so, though he blocked them using the same jutsu as before. Now behind him, I went into a series of strikes with my Ninjāto, multiple of which going straight for where the byakugaan weak point would be.
Most were avoided, but when he kicked my legs out, I could distinctly see multiple small cuts across his neck and upper shoulder. Using the backwards momentum of my fall to roll back into a ready position, I realized I had no chance with my just my current skills.
That much has been obvious from the start, this person is obviously Jonin level or higher. Looks like I'm gonna have to use it after all
Jumping away from another strike aimed at my sword arm, I used to the distance between myself and him to bite my thumb, blood quickly spurting out of it. I slid my bloody thumb across the seal on my arm, unsealing the contents.
The Root member moved into to stop whatever I was planning, but it was already too late.
Rotating one side of the Cube, a small barrier was made around me, stopping my opponents advancements.
Danzo looked on with interest, but made no move to ask what I had just done.
The root member experimentally touched the barrier with a kunai, only to have it fly out of his hands in the opposite direction.
I sheathed my sword, leaving it on my back instead of sealed away. Soon after, I took a few shuriken out my leg pouch, and held them in my uninjured arms hand. Still Holding the Box in my other hand, I launched a few shuriken at him. He seemed confused why I would do that when the barrier was still up, but soon realized when I used my other hand on the box to disable the barrier.
He quite easily dodged the shurikens, even more so the second batch of them. Only, he didn't notice me throwing the box with the second set of shuriken. It landed at his feet, and the barrier quickly reformed, only this time with the root member still inside. Him, and the shuriken.
He served around to try and block the shuriken ricocheting off the barrier, the velocity only being increased by the propulsion of the barrier.
Within seconds the root member was littered with cuts, shuriken still flying around him. He had attempted to reach for the Box, but it had released an electrical charge upon contact.
After a particularly nasty slice straight through the root members throat, he dropped to the floor, likely dead.
The barrier followed suit, and I had to duck under a stray shuriken flying out.
"That was certainly interesting. I had heard you had a device that could create barriers, but it seems much more useful then I had expected. How does it work?" Danzo questioned as he picked it up off the ground.
"Well, you will notice each side of the box is seperated into 9 different sections, each with it's own Kanji. The inside is partly hollow, and has the rest of the components for the seal matrix inside. Depending on which sides you rotate, the exterior kanji be organized in different ways, leading to different results. There is approximately 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 different possible combinations possible with the different exterior Kanji. Of course, about 99.9 percent of those combinations have kanji affecting each other in problamatic ways that will not be useful in anyway. For instance, if a row had 'barrier' 'fire' 'water' it would make a fire and water barrier, which would turn itself into steam, nullifying the effect completely. Of course, that still leaves 43,252,003,274,489,856, which is easily more then the amount of seals to have ever existed. Of course all of those seals are pretty rudimentary, but the versatility certainly out ways that. It's also made out of a titanium and aluminum alloy, making it one of the strongest materials to ever be made. Its melting point is high enough that nothing short of the strongest fire jutsus will affect it. I dont have any kekei genkai or dojutsu to rely on, so I'm forced to be more creative to be able to keep up." I explained to him as he continued examining it. His face went through many expressions throughout my explanation, but by the end it was back to it's normal emotionless expression.
After Experimentally rotating the sides a few more times, he handed it back to me. It was sealed back within the tattoo on my arm in moments.
"Impressive. Likely the greatest feat of ingenuity I've seen since watching the 2nd Hokage at work. You haven't shown anyone else the full capabilities of it correct?"
"Not even jiraiya, I got him to make the seals for me before hand, so he has no idea this is what I used them for."
"Good, we will keep it as such, even during the final rounds of the chunin exams. From now on, it is simply a barrier with a very limited amount a variety, understood?"
"Hai, Danzo-sensei."

The day before, Sasuke's P.O.V
It had been a few hours before I was supposed to leave for training when they arrived at my doorstep. They had told me to meet up with them at the bridge while they went and got one more person.
Why are they doing this? What would they want to talk to me about? My curse mark? Why would they get somebody else then, and besides, Bāsuto already warned me about it. Hes not the type to repeat himself.
I was no longer left questioning, as the subjects of my thoughts arrived, along with one other.
"Now that we're all here, we can begin."
"Begin wh-" My question was interrupted by an influx of information flowing into my head. No, not flowing into my head, they were already there, only locked away.
I thought over the memories coming back to me.
Well, that answers my question of why I'm here, but this raises much more then before.
"You both felt that now right? I released the memories I had sealed away during the chunin exam. As for why? They were going to come back on their own, and I'd much rather be able to confront you both about them while I can." Bāsuto explained to me and Yoshi. I took in his words for a moment, before looking next to me at Yoshi. She looked back.
"What did you mean by you both died." "What were you talking about when you said jinchuriki?" Both of us said our questions at the same time.
Jade put her hands up in front of her.
"Woah, calm your horses, we'll get to that. We'll start from the begining of the conversation. I don't believe you're fully aware Yoshi, but Bāsu here is able to come back from death. Basically reincarnation, and myself and Sasuke can both vouche for him on that. What neither of you know, is that I was also able to do that, but where as Bāsuto can do it 9 times, mine was a one time use kind of thing. That's what we were talking about at the begining." Jade explained, mostly for Yoshi's sake, considering I already knew most of what was said.
Bāsuto picked up where she left off.
"Concerning 'kami', we of course aren't referring to litteral god. We're both atheists, and we dont believe in such a thing. Who we're referring to is the one who gave myself and jade the ability to come back from the dead, that's simply what they call themself. I wont get into the specifics or exact deals that happened, but they are quite obviously and incredibly powerful person, easily the most powerful I've ever met. And no, there is no way for you to seek them out. The only time you will ever interact with them is if they seek you out. It will never happen the other way round." Bāsuto continued, giving a pointed glare at me during the final sentences.
I'm going to take those words with a grain of salt. Why would you ever want somebody else to get the same power as you do, it's obvious they're just saying that so I dont get the same power they have. I'll save that though for later.
"And what was it you were saying about jinchuriki?" I asked. I noticed Yoshi give me a weird look from beside me.
"Have you never heard of a jinchuriki? It means the power of human sacrafice. A jinchuriki is person who has one of the nine tailed beasts sealed inside of them." Yoshi said from next to me, irritating me with the subtle jab at my intelligence.
Ignoring the glare I was sending her way she continued.
"What I'm curious about is why you want to get into contact with them, and what purpose they could serve."
"Yes, that is a valid question. As you know, your sensei is the jinchuriki of the niibi. I have good reason to believe that someone will try to collect the bijuu sometime in the future, no doubt for a malicious reason, so I want to try and get into contact with as many jinchuriki as possible, hopefully warning and protecting them of what is to come."
"And where did you get this information from?" I asked suspiciously.
Jade took this opportunity to jump back into the conversation.
"Unfortunately, we can't tell you that, broker confidentiality and all that. Just know it's a trustworthy source. I believe that basically covers everything you heard. Any further questions?" She asked, looking at both of us. I made quick use of the opportunity to speak my mind.
"Why tell us all of this? Wouldn't it be easier to just lie?"
This time, it was Bāsuto again.
"Honestly, yes. It would be much simpler to just continue lying, and this certainly wasn't the whole truth, surely it's easy enough to see that. That's not the point however. If we continue to lie every step of the way, eventually they'll catch up to us, and we'll be choking on our own lies. It will be much easier in the long term now. Especially since now we've got 2 extra people that can help us."
Wait, what?
"Well, of course you guys are gonna have to help us now, your in too deep to get out. Besides, I can assure it won't impede you at all, whether it be training or anything else. All I ask is that when the time comes, you guys follow my decision, and have trust that I know what I'm doing." He asked, though there was no room for argument.
What kind of web have I gotten myself stuck on?
