8# A Dose of You
Aadyot was beyond excited that evening. The cricket match went well. Though just a practice match, being a part of winning team and playing the final shot is always euphoric. And he can't wait to share this news with his 'di'.
As he parked his cycle and stepped in, The 'Bose house' in its usual style was quiet. How much he hated this silence, the dead feels it gives, contrary to the buzz and energy in the field. He was caught by Dadi who gave him an suffocating hug, like she does every now and then,"Aa gaya Mera raja beta." Her standard dialogue. Raja beta! He sighed - How old-fashioned
"Dadi, Don't call me that! Please." He protested. Just then Sumitra walked in.
Hi Mom!
"How was your match, Adi? Sumitra asked in a tone of a strict school teacher. The excessive pampering of Aadyot by Parvati worried her. At times she had to don the hat of 'disciplined mom'
Good Mom! Aadi answered like an obedient student. ,"And you have to see the shot.." He started off excitedly. Sumitra cut him short.
"Go freshen up. We will have dinner in a while and make sure you finish your homework." There's goes all excitement in the drain. Adi sighed. Some never change.
"Ok, Mom! Adi picked his cricket kit and retired to his room.
Sumita watched him in silence. Her son's love for the cricket was a concern. He wants to be a cricketer which she felt was a not so good dream practically. She wanted him to focus more on studies and take over the family business. Adi had other plans. Business didn't excite him. Cricket did. Hence Clash of interests. Falling grades, Cricket would be out of the picture, That was the condition, Sumitra had put in.
Aadyot was not the one to give up. His grades were good, so she didn't have a chance or option to complain. He didn't want to give any and there's only one who would patiently listen to his cricket chronicles in entire Bose family and had always been supportive His di.
She's not in her room. There's only one place she would be at this time.
-----------------------------
Meanwhile, Swara insisted on leaving as Adi would be back from the match. But she didn't have to as Adi himself had come down to Gadodia residence. Adi shared a warm friendly bond with Gadodia family, especially with Ragini.
He would call her Rags, much to Swara's amusement and Ragini would side him saying, It sounds quite trendy. In turn, he was called champ by Ragini. On another hand, Ragini loved the bond Aadyot shared with Swara. Thanks to him and his presence which made Bose house an easier place to live for Swara. Little Bro and his loving sis. As Adi shared bits of his match, Janaki who just walked in holding a bowl of 'jamun' for kids, smiled looking at the trio.
She still recalled those days when Swara would complain and break into tears about Dadi not letting her play with little aadi. "He's my brother Right? Why would Dadi say I will be a bad influence on him. She never lets me play with him." Janki would hug her close and console holding her tears back as Swara would mumble midst sobs "Main Buri Nahi hoon maasi"
But The call of blood is hard to ignore. It has a magical binding. True in Case of Swara and Aadyot. As Adi grew up he bonded more with Swara than anyone else much to Parvati's dismay. He very much looked like Sekhar and loved his Swara di very much.
Aadyot on other hand was not ignorant of happenings in his house. He wished sometimes he was elder or big brother who would have a say in affairs and could set things right! He never liked the unfair treatment of Swara di over Kavita di. 'Kav Kav' is what he teased her at times much to Kavita's irritation. The more Swara was outcast, The more he stood by her. Chota ya Bada, a brother is supposed to protect his sister is what he would say to Swara, who would just smile and ruffle his hair. Her brother, Her lone warrior.
The word 'Jamun' distracted the trio and in minutes the bowl passed hands, there were fights as they hogged one after other. Few happy moments are what matters. These are moments that mattered to Swara, with her loved ones.
-------
As for Swara, Days passed by smoothly In Maheswari Inc. She had her own little space set up right before Rosy. She would catch up with Sanskaar only for a span of few minutes, where he reviewed progress, offered few suggestions. And Swara would be extremely content with those little moments.
Sanskaar had his reasons. Every time she was around, he felt threatened. Threatened of the pull, he felt towards her. A strong magnetic one like he's being drawn towards her. It made him curious and restless. The less time, safer he felt.
But like the fate have other plans, It so nicely threw a twist in the tale.in form of a family emergency for Rosy. Swara was right there when Sanskaar took the call. He assured her not to worry. Work would be taken care of. Family comes first. Any help medical, financial or leave matters, They would be taken care by Maheshwari Group and personally he would always be open to help. She needn't hesitance.
And those were just no any words. He next placed quick calls to respective departments, passing instructions, putting them into action. Swara's admiration for Sanskaar just touched new heights. Her sunny has a 'heart of gold' But Sanskaar was in the soup. He usually had a grueling schedule and though he has his outlook and mobile in sync for reminders, He cannot deny the comfort of having someone else manage it for you.
Thankfully Rosy had everything outlined in the planner for a couple of days. But coordination, till he finds a backup, was an issue. Swara offered to help. Organisation had always been her forte. She was unofficial PA of her baba. Her photographic memory is one aspect she always took pride of and she would have all details, reminders and contact numbers on tip of her fingers.
Absolutely sure, she would handle this job perfectly, Swara ventured in.
Sanskaar refused politely first. This is not her job and she had a project to work on. Swara insisted gently. The project wouldn't take the whole day, she had a few hours to spare and she assured, she wouldn't let the project suffer.
Sanskaar gave in at the end. Well, a helping hand was always welcomed." It's just for a day or two, Swara until I find a backup".He added. Swara nodded.
And he didn't find the need to. Just a few hours of working with her Sanskaar realized she was quick grasper and in two days, He was left highly impressed as Swara took over like a pro. As for his feelings, He Decided to work on them. The more he would pull away, the more he would be drawn. So he decided to face and it worked, as they developed a sense of ease.
It was on one of the mornings as Sanskaar walked into his cabin he had a hot piping cup of coffee waiting for him. A knock on the door Swara walked in little hesitant. His eyes moved to and fro, coffee to Swara, It was clear.
Oh! Whoever built in this notion that PA's are supposed to make coffee, cook food for you, to hell with them. He ridiculed the idea and a petty thing like coffee could be made by self. He never felt comfortable around peons in his office. Personally, he objected, them serving him stuff. He felt the need to make it clear to Swara, but He didn't want to upset her as well.
"You don't have to all this, Swara," He told gently as he went around the desk and pulled the laptop out of the bag.
"I was making one for self ..I thought I would make one for you too,". Swara gave a hurried explanation watching him take off the coat and hanging it neatly on top of the chair. Sanskaar usually would prefer working in just shirt and trousers, unless he had meetings to attend, Swara knew it by now. About coffee, she lied. She wanted to make one for him, watch him taste. She was not sure if she would ever get a chance, again.
"I really appreciate it," Sanskaar sat in the chair and opened the laptop," but I don't have the usual coffee. I have ..."
"I know ... "Swara butted in excitedly," Black coffee with a spoon of whipped cream, minus sugar".
His eyes shot up from laptop screen, "How did you know that?"
Then it hit Swara, she blurted out a secret in excitement. He had this mild look of curiosity on his face and he's waiting for an answer. What would she say? That She knew everything about him, Meaning most of them, his likes, dislikes, favorites and many more. Coffee is just one of them.
"I did a research," She blurted. Damn Swara! there you go again. Research? Really? Blame on him. Every time he looks at her, her mind and heart went for a toss...and see the after effects. Incoherent ramblings.
"On me?" He asked amused, one of his eyebrows queued up. Miss Bose for sure is one interesting woman.
" On Maheshwari Group," Swara replied. Time for some Damage Control
"I don't remember mentioning my coffee preferences anywhere, " Sanskaar leaned forward and picked the cup, his eyes fixed on Swara. Coffee Of his choice, He would definitely taste.
"Oh, You did! Remember in the interview for Business column ..." and she gave him exact date, details and the question number leaving him dumbfounded. Damn! He didn't even recall when was it a year back?
He wouldn't, but she would. She had his all interviews clipped carefully in her scrapbook and went through every word like a million times. Every Little thing about him, its precious.
There was nothing but silence as they stared at each other for several minutes. Suddenly the cabin felt small with a change of air, she was falling short of breath already.
Tere Saamne Aa Jaane Se
Yeh Dil Mera Dhadka Hai
Yeh Ghalti Nahi Hai Teri
Kusoor Nazar Ka Hai
Swara averted her eyes, first and turned to leave. Sanskaar was glad she broke their gazing session, he couldn't have. He was transfixed. Her eyes, he had no clue why but he had this sudden urge to toss her specs off and have a close look into them. He was almost tempted to. Did she have more secrets? If Yes!. He wanted to unfold, each one of them, of his mysterious and alluring intern. And He suddenly felt breathless at those dangerous heated thoughts.
Swara was tangled in her own.She did enough stunts for the day, can't afford more risk. Maybe he didn't like her gesture of Coffee. Maybe...
That's exactly the moment Sanskaar sipped the coffee and a smile sneaked on his lips
Swara...
She turned back.
"Will you make one for me every day, If you don't mind?" He asked with a little glint in his eyes.
Swara stared at him in disbelief. Did he just ask her to make coffee for him, Every day! " You ... You liked it ?" She asked still syncing in his words.
His dimple flashed."Loved it! "
He smiled at her and smiled little more at her blooming features. He could feel her dancing inside, she looked like she would do one right at this moment. She couldn't hide a thing, Her face and body language gave it all. And He's good at decoding, In Fact very good.
Not that dimpled smile. Get out before you faint.! Taking the cue, Swara walked out of cabin beaming and had this goofy smile still on.
He sipped his coffee silently his eyes refusing to leave sight of her. Did she know, He got a clear view of her from his place. And he noted, she didn't have a coffee cup on her table. Ah! More secrets.
On that note, When was the last time he had such tasty coffee? Now you know Sanskaar! your coffee sucks, the one you make every day assuming it to be world's best coffee. From today he can count on Swara for a really good one.
He got back to work. Good start for the day with a cup of good coffee and a dose of his intern. Did he need more? Maybe a yes.!
