Chapter 12

Jack's PoV

I awoke early the next morning, still hearing the dreaded crackling voice in my head. My nightmare had been something impossible to explain, filled with the long winding hallways and black lights, just like I had seen from video games. I was starting to wish that he had been able to stay home and played video games. But it really wasn't my choice at all. The house was impossibly dark, it was likely mid morning by now, however I know jet lag could still be the problem.

I stumbled blindly to the bathroom unable to find the light switch. I still couldn't believe that I didn't take the time to learn the layout of the house. At home I could hide, but that was no longer a luxury that I had. I gave up on the light switch and just let my eyes adjust.  I let the door close behind me as I made my way to the sink.

I walked to the mirror, trying to look at my self in the black glass. The longer I started the fuzzier and more pixelated it became. It looked like a VHS tap. Colors started to appear in the refection as bright as if the lights had been turned on. I took a fearful step back. My refection smirked before it glitched, making the colors blur and the body distort.

"Long time no see old friend" my reflection said before he started cackling. The laughter causing him to glitch more.

"What do you want?" I cried as panic threatened to take over. Of course I knew the answer, but at the moment I thought that if I could keep him talking, I might be able to find a way out of this situation.

"Oh Jackaboy" Anti said with another glitchy laugh. "You know exactly what I want. Your spotlight"

"You're never going to get it" I said forcing myself to stay standing. I watched as Anti grabbed at the frame of the mirror. I tried to push the other back, but when my hand met the cold glass of the mirror, then it turned from a solid to a sticky mess that was drawing me in. It felt like bring swallowed by jell-o.

"That's what you don't understand Jackaboy, I've already got it" I felt his hands grab and start pulling me.  I tried to brace myself on sink, but I just wasn't strong enough. Anti had been plotting, waiting, growing stronger as I grew weaker. Despite my fight I was pulled through the veil.

I looked out from the mirror to see the glitching monster looking back at me. His brown hair was still streaked with green and his eyes were as black as the void. His smile sent shivers down my spine.

"Oh Darky" Anti called out with a chuckle as he left.

I was stuck screaming and banging on the mirror but I was sure that no one could hear.
