I. Glistening Roses
{Third Person Point of View}
Ciel sat at his desk, signing the last document for the day. His work was finally finished. He looked over at the clock to note the time; 7:30 PM. It was almost time for him to rest. "Sebastian," he called.
Following the call for his name, the butler knocked on the door, receiving a, "Come in," from his young master. He turned the knob, opening the door to reveal the little lord.
"I am finished with my work for today and desire a warm bath. Go prepare one for me," Ciel ordered. With a bow, Sebastian turned to leave the room and shut the door.
Ciel watched his butler go, admiring the features he could even see with that tailcoat in the way. Skin glistening, sweating. Hair ruffled, messy. Shoulders slouched, tired.
He worked hard today, too.
Ciel stood up and stretched as the door clicked shut. He stopped and looked at the door. It was separating him from a man. From an elder. From his butler. From his love. He shook his head nonetheless and looked out the window. The moon was full and the recent drizzle made the trees and roses glisten in the moonlight.
A knock came upon the door and Ciel turned and watched as the butler stepped into the room with a slight bow, "The bath is ready." Ciel nodded and headed over to the door as Sebastian held it open for him. They both made their way to his bath.

Ciel immediately puffed his cheeks as his butler left the bathroom. He sank lower into the water and thought it over.
I will tell Sebastian that I want to go to the garden for a late night stroll and then tell him how I feel. There is no way I'll be turned down. He's always so close to me and teasing me; He probably does like me back.
The thought made blood rush to his face. Ciel sank even lower.
I sound very submissive.
Ciel stood up and pouted as he looked at his reflection in the mirror on the other side of the restroom.
Who am I kidding? There's no way he could like this ugly face. I'm a male. Why would a male demon like him love a male human?
He sat back down into the tub and growled. Sebastian walked into the bathroom with a concerning look, "Is everything all right?"
Ciel turned and looked at him, "Quit being tedious and dry me off already."
Sebastian shut the door behind him as he walked in further, unfolding the towel and holding it open for Ciel to stand into. Ciel stood, the water dripping down his sides. Sebastian wrapped the towel around him, drying the boy off. Ciel shut his eyes, enveloping himself in his thoughts.
If I wait, then a beautiful night like this will never come again. If I do it now, I'll sleep knowing that I did all I could.
Sebastian's voice pulled the boy out of his thoughts, "You seem rather sleepy, my Lord."
"I want to take a stroll in the garden after this. I'm just thinking."
"You've taken plenty of time here. You'll miss your slee--"
"I don't care. You're coming with me," Ciel responded, quite hesitant.

Sebastian followed behind Ciel as he walked over to the white sterlings. Ciel walked to an opening in the forest-like garden, gazing at the stars in the sky. He clenched his teeth, remembering what he came here to do. He turned around to face his butler, who wore quite an unamused expression.
Maybe I should ask late-- no. A day like this may never come again.
Ciel parted his lips to speak, but no words came out. Why couldn't he speak? What was so hard about asking the demon a simple question?
"Sebastian, I..."
That's what was so hard. He was a demon. The answer to the boy's question may be a no. It may also be worse than a no.
Sebastian looked at his master with a raised brow, "Yes, my Lord?" Ciel looked down, unable to speak words. His hands clenched into fists so tight, his knuckles went white and he could feel his small nails pushing into his skin. "If you've nothing to say, then shall we return to the manor? It's getting late and you shouldn't ling--"
"Can demons feel emotions?" Ciel spat out finally, feeling tears well in his eyes at the terrible scenarios going through his head. If the answer was no, then he should just give up.
Sebastian looked at his master in question, "Demons can feel emotion, yes. Our emotions aren't as strong as human emotions, however. Humans may show their reactions to certain emotions, yet demons do so very rarely."
Ciel felt a pang of motivation, "So you do feel emotions?"
"Yes, indeed."
"Th-Then..." Ciel looked up at his butler with furrowed brows. He bit down on his lip and found it almost impossible to speak any further.
Sebastian took note of his actions and knew exactly what the boy was feeling. Had he fallen for a demon? Which demon had he fallen for? He had fallen for a demon instead of his fiancée? This just turned a tad bit interesting.
"I... Sebastian, I..." Ciel spoke, tears threatening to fall. Why was he crying now? There was nothing Sebastian could say to hurt him, could there? "I think I may have--"
"Fallen in love?" Sebastian finished for him, a slight, apologetic smile written upon his face, head tilted. Ciel looked up at Sebastian with wide, disbelieving eyes. He knew. He nodded slowly. "With whom?" the butler interrogated.
Ciel wouldn't stay it. He couldn't say it. He would get laughed at. That was the only thing Sebastian could actually do: tease. But why else was he there? He couldn't just say, "never mind," and walk off, could he? It was the perfect night and he had already gotten this far.
"Are you not going to tell me?" Sebastian inquired, getting down on one knee and placing his right hand over his heart, "As the Phantomhive butler, I solely swear that I will not tell whomever it is that you have fallen in love with."
Ciel looked down at his butler and let his tears fall, "I've... I've fallen in love with... you."
Sebastian suddenly felt a tightening in his chest. A soft whisper escaped his lips, "no." What was this? The boy had fallen in love with him? A noble had fallen for his butler? A noble had fallen for a male? There was another feeling he felt, but he couldn't put his finger on it. Sympathy? Pity? Love? Disgust? He stood to his full height, "I'm afraid the feeling is not mutual."
He did it. He crushed Ciel's emotions. Ciel couldn't love anyone ever again. Sebastian just hurt his feelings. There was no turning back? Ha! He should have turned back. Ciel didn't even bother to look up at his butler. He couldn't. He said no. "No" couldn't possibly be bad, could it? At least he tried, right? No. No. No. The negativity of that word made Ciel choke on his words, and another tear slide down his cheek.
"For your information, my Lord, this body has the appearance of your father, as I had to take form of someone you could trust. If you've fallen in love with this form, you might as well weep over your father's tomb," Sebastian spoke out, lifting the earl up bridal style. "Let us return you to bed before you catch a cold."
Ciel still couldn't look at the butler's face. He was right. He could not love that face. That face was his father. Maybe even him in a few years. What was he thinking?
"Seb--"
"Please do not speak any further, young master."
Ciel stayed quiet. He didn't want his emotions crushed any further than they already had been. He shut his eyes and leaned his head on the butler's shoulder, feeling the butler make his way back into the manor.
*~Unloved~*
Sebastian sat Ciel on his bed, buttoning the boy's nightshirt. They did not utter a word to one another. Just complete silence. The only sounds were of the fire from the candelabra burning the wax, and the soft tapping on the window from the remaining rain that had yet to fall.
Sebastian stood to his full height and lifted the candelabra off of the nightstand. He headed toward the door, and Ciel didn't watch him go. Ciel didn't order him to stay until he fell asleep. Sebastian left and Ciel stared at the ceiling until he heard the door click.
Ciel turned to his right, looking at the door that still separated him from the man he loved. The only problem, however, was that the man didn't love him back. He wanted Sebastian to stay and watch him until he fell asleep. He wanted to hear Sebastian hum the slight tune he usually did if Ciel stayed up past midnight. He wanted to know his butler was looking out for him and caring for him.
But it isn't true anymore.
*~Unloved~*
The butler blew out the light from the candelabra. The young master had fallen in love with him? Preposterous. A noble should never fall in love with a servant. A man should never fall in love with a man. His master must have been trying to trick the demon yet again.
Sebastian made his way down to his bedroom chamber. He had to prepare the young master's clothing for the next morning, wax the rails that Mey-Rin had made a disgrace of, clean the mess Baldroy made in the kitchen, fix up the garden where his little lord took him as it should have been preserve--
What am I thinking?
Sebastian stopped in his steps and placed his hand upon the railing of the stairs. He had just thought of preserving the night due to his young master. Had he fallen, too?
How infantile. Sebastian continued his way down the steps. He also had to change the wallpaper in the foyer, hang up the painting of the lord in his room, pick the earl's favourite roses from the garden as a display for the dining hall, write out a letter to the master's favourite author and ask him to write a--
These were all thoughts of his master. What had happened to him?
Sebastian placed his hand on his forehead, his eyes slightly widening at the realisation.
I've fallen...
