"You two, get your butts in the RV we're shipping out." Stan Pines jerked his thumb at the door a sly grin on his face. Dipper and Mabel Pines slid off the kitchen chairs and grabbed their luggage and tramped out to the musty RV sitting in the parking lot of the Mystery Shack! a tourist trap in Gravity Falls Oregon. 

"Where are we going, Grunkle Stan?" Mabel asked cocking her head Stan only smiled and kept his eyes on the road after a few moments he said: "I'll give you a hint two words, starts with B ends with Y and it's near a large body of water." Mabel looked at her twin brother and he looked back at her they were both thinking the same thing "This can't be good..."

The Pines had been driving at least 3 hours when Stan threw a pair of blindfolds to the twins "put these on and don't ask any questions." he said shortly the twins obeyed and they kept driving eventually they stopped entirely. "We're here!" Stan chimed he lead them out of the RV at tore off their blindfolds, they were standing on the lawn of a pale blue house with white trim and a neat little front porch that had a sign on the lawn that read "So you can hit the Hay... Rent Today!" 

The twins stood dumbstruck "I know right! An old buddy of mine called me up and told me to come and visit the fees and everything are taken care of and guess what? We're staying here for the whole summer!" Dipper was the first to speak  "Grunkle Stan where are we?" 

"We're in Beach City! I used to come here all the time! Your parents did too! It's a great place you're gonna love it!" Stan was as giddy as a child on Christmas day, he lead the twins into the house so they could get settled in, "that explains why they told us to pack everything in the attic." 

Mabel said, they walked into the living room and a man almost identical to Stan greeted them with a six-fingered wave, "GRUNKLE FORD!" the twins yelled and ran to hug him, according to him he had arrived the day before and taken the room closest to the bathroom. The twins relayed their story to him and he gave them 10 bucks and told them to go explore the town and be back by sundown.

The twins walked from the house to the boardwalk and walked along it stopping to look at the sights they passed Beach City Walk Fries, Fish Stew Pizza, and a T-shirt shop when the boardwalk ended they came to a place called "The Big Donut" the twins went inside and were greeted by the loving touch of the AC and the alluring smells of chocolate, melting sugar, and caramel. 

A short blonde girl with poofy hair and a good-natured smile waved to them when they walked in the boy next to her with gauges in his ears gave them a weary look. 

There were two customers in the shop a small girl with dark skin and black hair wearing glasses and a white and green dress and a boy with black hair jeans and a red T-shirt with a star on it

"A dozen doughnuts and two apple juices please," Dipper said as the girl got the box ready the girl with glasses tapped him on the shoulder he turned "Hi my name's Connie, I don't think I've ever seen you around here before." 

Dipper smiled "Yeah my name's Dipper and that's Mabel my twin sister." he said pointing Mabel was already engaged in conversation with the boy "We're actually from California but we're staying here for the summer." 

they chatted until their doughnuts were ready "My names Steven, I live here with my dad and the crystal gems." "the what," Mabel said, Steven and Connie smiled "Follow us," they said and they hurried down toward a gigantic statue facing the ocean

The twins gasped when they saw the statue it was crumbling but still, it was very beautiful. Steven and Connie led the twins up into the house it was very modern and cozy

At the back of the house, a circular pad sat surrounded by sparkling crystals in front of a door with the shape of a star a in the middle of it.  The kids sat at Stevens kitchen counter and were eating doughnuts when the pad started to glow and three people stepped off of it, The first was clad in red and black and had a huge visor shading her eyes she had two red gemstones embedded in her hands, the second was short and purple and had long hair just about down to the floor she was wearing purple and black and had a purple gem embedded in her chest, the third was tall and slender and had a beak-like nose and orangy hair that was cropped very short she had a white irradecent gem embedded in her forehead.

 "I swear I've been hearing those weird sounds, Garnet, like scraping or something coming from the chamber." "Amythest we've gone over this!" said the tall gem with an exasperated voice, "hi," Steven said all three of the ladies turned around the saw Dipper and Mabel for the first time and acknowledged them with a wave, a smile and a wave, and a curt nod Mabel was the first to speak "Hi I'm Mabel and this is my twin brother Dipper I'm 13, love to knit and bedazzle stuff, and I have a pet pig." 

The purple lady spoke up "Sup I'm Amythest, this is Garnet, and this is Pearl" she said pointing to each gem in turn, "We're from out of town so if you don't recognize us it's okay we're staying here for the rest of the summer and we would love to be friends!" 

Classic Mabel the red gem spoke, "Any friend of Steven's is a friend of ours welcome to Beach City I hope you enjoy it here." They talked for a few hours until the light dimmed and got dark "I'm really sorry said Dipper we've gotta be back by sundown and our Grunkle's will freak if we aren't home." The twins walked to the door "Come back tomorrow!" Steven and Connie yelled as the twins ran off into the darkness.

"I was starting to worry," Grunkle Stan said when they got back "where were you?" "we met some new friends down at this really cool doughnut shop," Dipper said, "Their names were Steven and Connie, I don't know their last names." "We also met the women who I'm assuming are Steven's guardians, Steven called them the crystal gems." Ford popped his head out of the kitchen, "Did you say Crystal Gems?" he said in wonder.
