Episode 21: A Princess' Struggle

*Starting Scene*

Multiple yells resound within Wukong Village as six Grunt Brigade personnel are simultaneously sent crashing into the spacious dirt road, complements of Sano spinning like a top. After that, the teenager ceases his movement while holding Ruyi Jingu Bang inside the crook of both arms and behind himself. Sano promptly analyzes the twenty-four other foes who are still standing, poised at a decent distance away to avoid Sano's previous attack. A tenacious grin then establishes itself on the golden-eyed boy amidst spreading out his stance prior to gesturing his head eastward to demonstrate that he's ready for the next assault.

The Grunt Brigade are angered by Sano's attitude and plan to make him pay as they charge at the lad with a mighty war-cry.

In the meantime, Yuki continues to face Berk from a pretty far range with her Ice Wand pointed at the hazel/green-eyed man, thinking while quite worried, "It stinks that I can't sense magic too well..." The pink-haired individual glances at the fallen Grunt Brigade members as she keeps on with her eternal dialogue. "Miss Know-It-All said these guys here are Spellcasters, but I don't feel anything." She resets her gaze onto Berk, stress consuming the dame amidst persisting her thoughts, "Including him and he's obviously stronger than them." Yuki drops her head with her eyes momentarily closed, muttering in irritation, "I hate this!"

Berk comments with little emotion, slowly moving his right hand to the height of its corresponding shoulder. "I'll tell you this now. You shouldn't waste time contemplating about things that won't make a difference. I told you to get ready. Heed my words, Princess Yuki..." A giant, beige-colored, wooden mallet that's bigger than the fellow haphazardly materializes atop Berk's shoulders while firmly held in his lifted appendage. "Or I might accidentally kill you with this mallet of mine."

Astonishment overruns Yuki as the girl unconsciously lowers her wand in an instant after hurriedly returning her focus to Berk. "What in the world?!"

Berk smirks. "Before we commence, allow me to properly introduce myself since I already know who you are." He dismounts the mallet from his shoulders and wields it horizontally via his right arm extended to the side. "I'm simply called Berk. I'm a Class C Plus Weapon Spellcaster, who's currently in command of the Grunt Brigade that's made up of Class D Spellcasters. I'm also considered Enshin's No. 4 of his main five."

Confusion resonates in Yuki's eyes. "Weapon Spellcaster?!"

Berk nods, overwhelming confidence emitting from him, and laughs a bit. "Do you understand what that means, Princess Yuki?"

Yuki can only shake her head with her confusion growing.

Berk calmly shuts his eyes. "Then, I'll explain..." The white-haired person abruptly opens his eyes as a serious look is presented. "Right after this!" He swings the mallet above his head prior to bringing it down on the ground with a loud yell. Upon contact, a powerful tremor expands through the earth's surface, tearing apart all around the area.

That results in Yuki almost losing her balance from the broken off landscape while the nearby buildings buckle and even crack under the tremor's pressure. During that, the chick strains herself to stay on her feet, snapping her head to opposing sides to witness everything that's occurring. "This is sort of like Dante and his Power Glove!" Yuki switches her attention to Berk as concern plagues her.

At the same time, Sano receives the force of Berk's mallet, however due to him always being quick on his feet, the tanned character leaps into the air as he maintains his hold upon Ruyi Jingu Bang via his right hand. This allowed the golden-eyed teen to dodge getting thrown off by the torn terrain while many Grunt Brigade members stumble and fall. Still airborne, Sano gradually places his vision on Berk as amazement shows. "Whoa! Such incredible power! And he's only a Class C Plus Spellcaster to boot!" He lands onto the ground with not much effort, hits an Enshin's Disciple in the face via a back-handed swing of Ruyi Jingu Bang without looking since he's now focused on Yuki and softly comments, "I hope she can handle him by herself..." The boy veers his sight to the Grunt Brigade men. "Because I'm gonna' take a while with these guys."

Berk restores his posture and mounts the mallet on his shoulders again, resting his gaze upon Yuki in the process. "A Weapon Spellcaster is as the name suggests, but for you to better understand, they are people whose magic takes the form of an object that perfectly suits them. For example, my mallet contains a vast amount of power that I can't access by any other means. Even if I were to use the Strengthening Spell."

Yuki narrows her eyes after stabilizing her footing, trying to comprehend Berk's words while shifting her head westward slightly. With that, the female directs the Ice Wand back at her opponent and watches Berk out of the corner of her right eye. "So, it's somewhere along the lines of being the same as my wand, correct?"

Berk mildly tilts his head westward, shrugging with his concentration briefly deviated. "In a way..." His attention reverts to Yuki. "However, your wand exists mainly to help draw out your magic, it isn't your magical ability as a whole." He faintly elevates the giant mallet and repeatedly taps his right shoulder with its handle in a simplistic rhythm. "The only real similarity is that they're both weapons."

Yuki raises her right eyebrow, curiosity arising. "Okay, so what was the purpose of you having to smash up the ground before telling me all this?"

Berk grins after repairing his head's composition. "It was a warning shot. Now you know one hit alone can cause serious damage. It's an appropriate handicap I'm graciously giving you, so be mindful of how you fight me."

Agitation rapidly encompasses Yuki as she tightens her grip on the Ice Wand. "Hmph! If you think you're being chivalrous by doing that, you're sorely mistaken! Grand Frozen Shard!" The princess' wand glows its usual blue color precisely when a large ice spike expels from it and hastily advances towards Berk, compelling Yuki's arms to recoil backwards.

Berk immediately responds by swiftly swinging his mallet in a diagonal angle via his right hand. This leads to the gentleman completely shattering the projectile with a solemn conduct brimming, keeping his eyes instilled onto Yuki. "Just saying that won't help back up your threat."

Yuki stabs the tip of her wand into the cracked landscape, having bent down with her legs fairly separated and only carries her weapon in her right hand as she stares at it. "I'm already aware! Hence why I thought up this little trick! Frozen Rink!" The earth from where Yuki's wand is embedded quickly commences to freeze, overrun by a blue ice.

That process extends all the way pass Berk, who hurriedly views the icy terrain he's now standing on while placing his mallet's handle atop his right shoulder and is rendered speechless.

Concurrently, in the middle of his fight with the Grunt Brigade, Sano registers the ground freezing beneath his bare feet.

As that transpires, several Grunt Brigade slip from how sleek the icy terrain is and fall one after the other, letting out a cry of distress.

Witnessing that, Sano strives not to make any sudden movements because of his lack of experience with such a phenomenon and enters a petrified state while examining the situation as he thinks, "Okay, don't do anything rash! I'm not in the mood to be banging my head again!" He peers to his right, seeing that the expansion of ice reaches the surrounding buildings while also noting behind himself that most of the road in that vicinity has frozen up. Not long after, Sano becomes astonished, steering his vision to Yuki amidst thinking, "Wow! I didn't expect something like this from that girl! Nice! I wonder what else she can-!"

An Enshin's Disciple disrupts Sano's thought process, charging alone after all the other members had fallen. Unfortunately for the enemy, he has trouble doing that well thanks to the ice being very difficult to maneuver.

Forced to react, Sano instantly pushes his left foot off the icy ground to spin towards his right while permitting him to elude the Grunt Brigade personnel as he administers a roundhouse kick onto the back of his opponent's head, knocking the man out. Sadly, that minor movement caused the lad to lose his footing since he's currently situated solely on one foot, abruptly slips sideways amidst emitting a stoic scowl and thinks prior to hitting the earth, "Is this seriously happening?" Sano promptly collides with the landscape in a harsh manner as he merely lies there, having rolled onto his stomach via a sprawled position, until muttering out of mild annoyance, "Yeah... It happened..."

Meanwhile, Yuki removes her wand from the terrain, having not yet changed her poise, and says with a smile, "Now, for the final step..." The girl then taps both of her boots via the Ice Wand's tip as they are instantly consumed by blue ice. With that, the beauty's boots transform into a pair of ice skates thanks to a single blade forged underneath each while her name's written in intricate lettering on them. Once that's done, Yuki fixes her stance, plants her left hand on the corresponding side of her waist and confidently declares as she locks eyes with Berk, "Frozen Skates."

Berk gives off a skeptical expression amidst verifying how smooth the terrain had become via his right foot trying to dig into the ground. "What's the meaning of this?" He glances at the ice he's standing on. "You must have used an excessive amount of magic here."

Yuki shakes her head. "On the contrary, I used the bare minimum. It's not as if I turned the earth itself into ice. Only the surface, which is all I need to deal with someone like you."

Confusion overtakes Berk, gesturing his left arm towards the area around him. "How is this going to help in fighting me?"

Yuki grins, teasingly remarking, "Because this is a REAL handicap. Not that poor excuse you showed off earlier."

Berk can't help feeling a bit frustrated prior to uniting his left hand with the other that's still holding the large mallet. "Poor excuse, huh?" The white-haired disciple dismounts the weapon from his shoulder and lifts his left leg up while contorting his body backwards. "Well, forgive me! I didn't realize how useless it would be!" As he said that last part, Berk swings his beige mallet onto the terrain with all his might. This produces another tremor, however this time, the earth ahead of the male caves in while expanding towards Yuki, similar to a wave.

Yuki dashes forward as she skates on the ice that started cracking from the collision of Berk's attack. This doesn't deter the teen though, compliments of her being well-versed in maneuvering on ice and elegantly evades the tearing ground by jumping over them with an acrobatic spin commonly seen in most professional skaters. If not through that method, Yuki would perform sharp turns to narrowly run along the same direction the cracks extend from her adversary without making contact.

Berk's visibly impressed while doing his best not to lose his balance since he had to embed his left foot back upon the icy surface, which can be dangerous for the lack of grip. "Who would have imagined that she's a natural skater? No one told me about this."

Yuki reaches the wave Berk's mallet generated and easily leaps above it to prevent any possibility of her tripping, although it ended up dissipating before getting to where Sano's stationed as he has yet risen from his unceremonious collapse. After that, the princess' advancement towards Berk continues, mumbling in a somewhat aggravated voice, "Like anyone would expect you to know about my hobbies." She swiftly stretches out her right arm at Berk to aim the Ice Wand as it glows again without ceasing her progression. "Frozen Shard Flurry!"

A storm of diamond-shaped ice spikes fly towards Berk as the muscular individual commandeers his mallet eastward amidst grunting, swinging it with both hands again. Soon after, many Frozen Shards are swiped away by the combat tool and are sent crashing into a building located to his left, resulting in its wall shattering with a decent sum of smoke forming. At the same time, even though he deflected most of the ice spikes, Berk's arms got scuffed by a few that weren't caught in his defensive response.

Seeing that, determination overflows from Yuki after drawing her right arm to the side while seconds away from reaching Berk. "Here's my follow up!" The blue-eyed chick screeches to a halt, provoking particles of ice to expel from the ground. Then, Yuki points her wand back at Berk, situates herself sideways via her right foot directed onward and courageously shouts, "Grand Frozen Shard!"

Another immense spike is hurled towards Berk with practically no time for him to destroy it like he did previously. Fortunately for him, the guy barely manages to duck and merely receives a slight cut upon his back, tearing through Berk's suit due to the sharp edges the shard contains. This invokes a pained grimace to arise on the Spellcaster as the projectile smashes into the ground not too far behind him, breaking apart upon impact. Right after, Berk glares at the frozen earth beneath his feet with agony continually emanating until suddenly getting a feeling of danger amidst quickly elevating his head while staying in that position.

Exactly when her opponent did that, Yuki jabbed the tip of her Ice Wand onto Berk's chest since she recently eliminated the distance between the two. "You fell right into my trap!"

The chest region of Berk's suit promptly commences freezing from its center and becomes petrified in the matter of seconds. This surprises the fellow to a great extent as he releases a brief gasp and then hastily swings his mallet at Yuki with a fierce yell.

Yuki avoids the oncoming strike via a simple rearward slide, having retracted the Ice Wand to her person while thinking in a panic, "Why did it just occur to me?! He's actually very fast!" She stops five meters from Berk just as a content smirk appears and speaks tenaciously. "But I'm not going to back down!"

Berk stands upright with a callous demeanor established, solely wielding his mallet inside his right hand as both limbs rest on opposite regions of his constitution. "Do you say that because you think you're beating me, Princess Yuki?" He scoffs out of faint annoyance, however, tries to remain composed. "You underestimate me." Berk slowly brings his left appendage to his chest before tightly grabbing onto his dress shirt and jacket. Not long after, the adult rips them off his being with a fierce yank, revealing the "Enshin's Disciples" tattoo on is chest below his collarbone, and tosses the clothing aside while the cut Yuki's Grand Frozen Shard made is running down the middle of his back. "You may have created a favorable terrain and I'll admit that I haven't been taking you seriously, but don't get the wrong idea. Your defeat by my hand is imminent, no matter what you do."

Irritation plagues Yuki as she momentarily diverts her attention to Berk's bare body and then reverts her gaze to lock eyes with him. "Hmph! Am I suppose be intimidated or something?" The princess points her left index finger at Berk. "Because it doesn't work, especially when you're now pretty much half naked! Who in the world would be afraid of you and those chiseled muscles?!"

Berk raises his right eyebrow, intrigue portrayed, amidst putting his left hand down near his side. "Chiseled muscles?"

Yuki veers her head westward with her eyes shut and folds both arms together. "I prefer guys with a handsome face over those exaggerated buff guys any day! So, stop wasting your time trying to impress me!"

Berk gawks at Yuki while slouching forward, thinking in astonishment, "Is she okay in the head?! Why would I try to impress her when we're enemies?!"

Yuki resets her sights onto Berk without shifting her head as a sly smirk displays itself while mentally exclaiming, "Got him!" The young lady immediately separates her arms, aims her wand at Berk once again with both hands and firmly shouts, "Frozen Shard Flurry!"

Numerous ice spikes soar towards Berk with impeccable speed, although doesn't create any concern on the disciple's attitude and abruptly dodges to the right while not receiving a single additional scratch. Unexpectedly though, right when he attempted to cease his mobility via his right foot, the male stumbles since he so happen to step on a frozen area that had begun melting from Wukong Village's natural sunny climate and couldn't help feeling a bit of worry ache at him.

In the meantime, Yuki dashes to her left to be parallel with Berk while maintaining the Ice Wand poised at her adversary. "Duo Grand Frozen Shard!" A big spike of ice flies out from Yuki's wand and swiftly heads towards the disciple.

Berk reacts to the attack by swinging his mallet to the left via his right hand, smashing it with that lone blow. Shortly afterwards, shock rapidly eats at Berk due to him remembering that Yuki had uttered the word "Duo", and to solidify his fear, another Grand Frozen Shard appears a mere couple of feet from Berk. Then, the dark-skinned gentleman gets hit by the attack, unconsciously drops his mallet as it heavily cracks the ice it had fallen on and is sent flying backwards. This lasts until Berk collides onto the frozen ground while sliding on his back a tad thanks to the terrain's sleekness.

Yuki draws her weapon towards her chest after facing towards Berk's direction, keeping both hands on it, as happiness surfaces. "I did it! A direct full-powered hit!"

Silence transpires for a few seconds prior to Berk deciding to expel an ominous chuckle while staring at the sky. "Is that really your full power?"

Anxiousness overwhelms Yuki, slanting her head westward throughout. "Yeah...?"

Berk does his best not to laugh, putting his right hand over his face. "Oh, God! What was I thinking?!"

Yuki repairs her head's angling amidst placing her left hand on her hip and possesses the right hand dangling on her other side. "You thought just because I'm a lower classification than you, I would be easy to beat. Don't fret about it. That Heat guy looked down on me too and paid for it."

Solemnness establishes itself on Berk before removing his hand and peers at Yuki, coldly asking, "Are you telling me you are the person who killed Bel?"

Yuki's demeanor dulls as she deviates her focus from Berk and thinks, "Technically..." She switches her concentration back to Berk and sharply nods. "Yes, I did."

Berk closes his eyes, takes a deep breath, gradually gets to his feet via the help of both hands pushing off the icy earth that's to his left and confronts Yuki without opening his eyes yet. "How sad..." The man administers his gaze upon Yuki as intensity resonates. "Fate really has a cruel way of playing out."

Yuki gets confused again, a nervous sensation crawling up her spine in the process. "Why exactly?"

Berk retains his conduct. "You killed someone I was quite attached to. He was my apprentice. I practically raised him, even though our age isn't too far apart."

Yuki mildly lowers her head without taking her eyes off Berk. "Too bad he was a monster who killed helpless people, unable to defend themselves well."

Yui unexpectedly intervenes within Yuki's mind, declaring in a somewhat malicious voice, "Like you actually care. You were happy that he eliminated them. Quit your hypocrisy."

Yuki frantically plants both hands on the temporal sections of her head, lets out a stressed whimper while closing her eyes and softly says, "No! I never accepted that, so shut up!"

Agitation adds to Yui's tone as she yells, "Don't tell me to shut up, you pathetic piece of waste! How long are you going to keep denying it?!"

Yuki throws her head skyward prior to screaming in a distraught manner, "Enough! Just go back to sleep! I don't need you!"

Berk cocks his head eastward with curiosity returning. "Hey, you okay?"

Yui evilly laughs while continually tormenting Yuki. "How stupid can you be?! If you haven't noticed since your ability to sense magic sucks so much, that guy over there has been holding back! You're nowhere close to defeating him!"

Yuki's eyes snap open out of horror and thinks, "No way!" The girl cautiously drops her head to set her attention onto Berk as she questions with a spaced out expression, "Are you... Holding back?"

Berk straightens his head's posture. "Why yes. I'm amazed you figured it out after all that big talk of yours. I was sure you weren't going to realize until I demonstrated it, which is the reason I asked what I was thinking." A devious grin creeps in. "It was me coming to terms that restraining myself against you wasn't the right way. After all, our classifications are in the same letter at least."

Despair eats away at Yuki while barely sliding both hands down her head.

Yui giggles menacingly. "I told you. Now, it would be best that you summon me unless you want to die."

Yuki grits her teeth with anger. "Screw that!" She lowers her hands while clenching them into fists as the Ice Wand remains in her right appendage's grasp. "I'll keep fighting! I already stated that I'm not backing down and that's it!"

Berk retracts his head a little as he can't help respecting Yuki's words. "Bravo, but I already have you figured out. The strongest spell you got is that Grand Frozen Shard and you thrive off sneak attacks. That's why you made that comment about my muscles. This fight is as good as done." He glances at the earth while the ice that plagued it has melted quite a bit and confidently smiles. "And it seems this Frozen Rink of yours isn't gonna' hold up much longer." Berk steers his concentration onto Yuki once more. "I implore you to give up to make things easier on you."

Yuki swings her left hand to the side. "I don't like repeating myself a lot, so this will be the last time! I won't back down!"

Hearing Yuki's outburst, Sano finally gets to his feet, however, is fairly dazed and watches the sky with his posterior towards Yuki, who's ten meters away. During that, the lad rubs his forehead via his left hand as he carries Ruyi Jingu Bang in the other and mumbles, "Damn... I normally can take worse things and still be in decent shape. I guess that spill was one of those rare one-hit moments where you just gotta' snooze it off. That's inconvenient." The black-haired boy checks out his surroundings, notices that every Grunt Brigade personnel he was dealing with has lost consciousness and vaguely laughs. "Well, thank goodness I'm not them. They're more than likely knocked out for a LONG time." He joyfully grins as he unexpectedly hears a wholehearted female cry, instantly garnering his attention, and turns his head westward to investigate.

Concurrently, Yuki skates on the nearly deteriorated ice while passionately releasing a war-cry amidst advancing towards Berk as she thinks, "Unlike that Bel guy, directly freezing him with my wand is my best shot! I'll bet everything on that!"

Berk releases a scoff as he shakes his head in disapproval. "I know what your aim is." The gentleman sprints forth thanks to him not being hindered by the frozen ground anymore and prepares himself to crash into Yuki.

That significantly startles Yuki and ceases her battle-cry, although rapidly gets over it due to her registering how his charge towards her benefits the beauty's strategy.

Then, exactly when contact between the two is about to be made, Berk pulls a fast one while muttering, "Speed up." The individual immediately zooms pass Yuki with incredible agility, reaches his mallet in a split second and picks the weapon up from the landscape that has almost no shred of ice ailing it via his left hand.

Yuki hastily stops, navigating herself towards Berk with a stunned composition as her Frozen Skates also lost their form and have become boots again.

Berk looks at Yuki out of the corner of his eyes, compliments of him not totally confronting her and arrogantly states, "No more handicaps. It's time you felt my mallet's power." The character quickly makes his way towards Yuki via the Speed Spell, stands face to face with the princess while a couple of inches away, has the mallet raised above his head and promptly does a single-handed swing onto his enemy.

Yuki temporarily panics since she wasn't entirely ready for such a swift attack, but luckily, managed to sidestep to her left so she can narrowly escape getting hit while the mallet was slammed onto the earth. As a result, a huge tremor rocks the village and forces the corset-wearing dame to strain herself so she wouldn't lose her stability from the ground breaking apart.

As that occurred, Sano hurriedly hopped to his right, grabbing the edge of a building's roof, and flung himself on top of it. This was to avoid the tearing of Wukong Village's street while the tanned person firmly holds Ruyi Jingu Bang in both hands, having it lowered in front of himself, and focuses on Berk. "Those two are still going at it, I see..." His vision is drawn to Yuki before the golden-eyed male chuckles. "And she doesn't seem like she's gotten hurt at all. That's one really tough chick."

The tremor eventually subsides, allotting Yuki the opportunity to attempt her plan as she jabs the Ice Wand's tip at Berk's right arm thanks to it being the closest body part she can reach from her current angle. Sadly, the princess' adversary was waiting for her strike and does a backhand swing of his mallet towards Yuki without turning it to properly hit her with one of the weapon's flat surfaces like he had been from the fight's beginning. Because of that, a blow finally connects onto Yuki while harshly hitting the dirt road after rolling quite a bit, but at least retained her grip on her wand. Then, having gained a small distance from Berk due to the sheer strength of the strike, Yuki simply lies upon the landscape as she cringes in pain with some bruises now present.

Concern envelopes Sano at the same time he slaps his left hand over his mouth while thinking, "Crap! Spoke too soon!"

Berk commandeers himself to face Yuki with a lack of emotion shown and mounts his mallet on both shoulders again. "Be grateful to your good fortune that I subconsciously held back for that hit. If not, my warning of serious damage from the start would have been justified. Instead, you were left with superficial injuries that anyone could easily live after having suffered them..." His tone then deepens. "But I usually don't stop there when it involves one who stands in Lord Enshin's way or kill someone important to me." Berk becomes quiet for an instance. "You could ask those people at the Lady Luck Casino that night we met. You know, the ones who had that intense hatred towards Spellcasters just like the people of this village."

Yuki struggles to get up from the ground as her body uncontrollably shakes and stares at the dirt beneath her while heavily panting.

Watching Yuki, Berk continues to talk while portraying an uncaring attitude. "Though that question would have to be asked in the Afterlife."

Yuki's eyes widen out of bewilderment before gradually bringing her gaze onto Berk. "You don't mean..."

Berk nods. "Yes... They're all dead." The individual points at himself with his left hand. "I'm the one who killed them too. It was either that or I would have hunted you down and killed you. In the end of it all, someone needed to pay for my friend's death. Again, be grateful because I made a judgement call and that spared you, but when you get right down to it, you're the one at fault for revealing what he was."

Yuki gets on all fours with her Ice Wand still in her right hand, depicting the terrain again. "The table clerk at that casino... They really killed him?"

Berk squeezes the mallet's handle out of rage. "They certainly did. This is why humans and Spellcasters can't fully co-exist. They'll just end up destroying one another until the end of time."

Yuki slumps to the ground, lying on her right side and gets into a fettle position with tears slowly generating underneath her eyes. "What about our own kind, then? Here you and me are... Fighting each other to the death." She glances at Berk without getting out of position. "Won't it be the same in that case for us as well?"

Berk calmly replies. "That's for the most powerful person in our world to decide."

Yuki asks following her digging her head into both arms that are crossed together, "Who may that be?"

Berk takes a deep breath prior to earnestly answering. "Enshin Billiard."

Silence consumes Wukong Village until Yuki lets out a fake laugh. "That's funny."

An angry scowl displays itself on Berk. "How is that funny?!"

Yuki locks eyes with Berk. "It isn't funny. Not one bit."

Berk tilts his head eastward to get a better view of Yuki's face. "Then, why say that it is?!"

Yuki sighs. "I guess because, from what I know about how Enshin and his Disciples do things, I can't see much difference. I think we'll be doomed if everything would be left to him."

Berk bites his tongue, his anger boiling. "Be quiet! You don't know anything!"

Yuki rolls her eyes amidst slightly shaking her head. "Hmph. I wonder if I sounded like that when I said those same words to Miss Know-It-All. If I did, then I MUST be a brat."

Berk's left speechless, however, ultimately retorts in a sincere way. "Well, you're still young. Can't really expect much from you."

Yuki glares at Berk before getting out of the fettle position so she can rise to her feet while placing her face extremely close to her opponent's. Simultaneously, the damsel has both hands curled into fists, despite her holding the Ice Wand in her right hand, as she wields her appendages at her waist. "I take offense to that!"

Berk laughs with his head cocked back until gaining some distance from Yuki via taking a few steps rearward, cheerfully resting his sight upon her in the process. "I'm going to call it quits for today. Somehow, that last thing you spouted took away my mood to fight."

Sano and Yuki are dumbfounded as all they can do is gawk at Berk.

Berk makes his mallet vanish, lowering his right hand prior to traveling pass Yuki's right. "Either way, the more important fight will be my boss'. Originally, I wanted to avenge my fallen comrades, but it's not like Lord Enshin would reward me for it. This was all just a personal vendetta that I'm not going to get anything in reality out of it." He ceases his movement and turns his head westward so that he can gaze at Yuki, who had spun around to confront him. "Plus, as I mentioned, my mood's gone. I can't even fight half as good as I normally do when my mood isn't right." The gentleman veers his head away while shutting his eyes and shrugs. "I guess I'll see you in the future, especially since you'll want revenge for Dante after boss kills him."

Before Yuki had the chance to release a rebuttal, Nash unexpectedly appears in front of Berk amidst carrying somebody over his left shoulder as he coldly comments, "It's too bad ya' won't be around for tha'. Ain't tha' right, Berk?"

Sano urgently runs along the building's edge that he resides atop of and strives to get a better view, thinking, "That person he's holding...! Is it...?!"

Berk's eyes snap open precisely when the sickle from Nash's right arm penetrates his throat, protruding from the other end while soaked in the Weapon Spellcaster's blood. Not long after, the blade is harshly pulled out from Berk's neck while spurting a vast quantity of the crimson substance. As this transpires, Berk contorts himself onward a bit prior to collapsing backwards while everything goes black from his perspective, uttering in a strained voice, "W-W-Why... N-Nash...?"

Having witnessed Berk fall, Sano and Yuki can't control their shock as they momentarily examine the downed disciple.

Concurrently, Nash puts his right hand into his dark green pants' pocket amidst speaking with annoyance established. "Wha' did ya' expect, Berk? Ya' were gonna' let them go. Tha' ain't our way. We kill anythin' tha' is in Enshin's path and we don't let them off easy, regardless. Ya' outta' kno' tha' after all this time." He tosses the person he's carrying to Berk's left as it's promptly revealed that Axis' the one he brought, covered by numerous fatal cuts on his abdomen.

Berk shifts his eyes to Axis while blood seeps through his wound and mouth as he's overrun by disbelief. "What the...?! Axis?!"

Sano recedes a tad with surprise brimming until exclaiming, "It IS him!"

Berk extends his left hand at Axis, however, discovers something and halts his limb's progression while horrified. "He's... Dead!"

Nash cracks his neck by slanting it eastward, giving off a stoic expression. "No shit."

Berk feels an intense pressure emitting from Nash, accounting Axis' condition as he hesitates to make eye contact with the black-haired fellow. Soon enough, the male forces himself to depict Nash via the corner of his eyes. "These wounds... They're..." Anger drowns Berk, turning his head to directly glare at Nash. "You bastard!"

Nash smirks. "Ya' shouldn't be so upset, Berk. Did ya' really think boss would simply let his No. 5 go and do whateva' he wanted with nothin' in it for 'im? He had a very important job and failed, so I killed 'im."

Berk tries to sit up, his rage soaring. "What are you talking about?! What job?! I thought Axis left to do his own thing! Lord Enshin even said that it wasn't coherent with his goal and didn't care-!" Realization hastily sets in as the adult desperately attempts not to keel over from lack of blood in his body and torques his head westward prior to coughing out some red liquid with his eyes shut. Afterwards, the individual issues Nash an exhausted glance while experiencing intense pain as he's gasping for air. "Wait... Are you saying that Lord Enshin... Had his sights... On this village...?"

Nash shrugs in an aloof manner. "Why not? Everythin' will eventually be his. Ta' be more exact though, he was lookin' ta' recruit the clan tha' is here." The black-eyed person scoffs while diverting his vision from Berk. "But it was kinda' pointless since they're all a bunch of weak-asses."

Berk can't help being confused while unable to maintain himself up much longer and lies on his left side without deviating his attention from Nash. "Why...? Why didn't... Boss confide in me... That plan...?"

Nash smiles menacingly before tilting his head back a bit, staying focused on Berk. "Ain't it obvious?! He neva' really trusted ya', dumb ass!" He sticks out his tongue to taunt Berk. "So just die already, ya' fuckin' loser!"

Berk's eyes grow red out of fury and lunges towards Nash with whatever strength he had left. "Nash!"

Nash abruptly throws up his left limb after his conduct becomes callous amidst slicing Berk's chest wide open. This made an excessive sum of blood splatter all over as Berk's tattoo has been cut right down the middle with the crimson substance dripping on it.

As that occurred, Yuki gasps out of terror while profoundly baffled.

In Sano's case, the golden-eyed teenager intently observes Nash from behind with disgust, muttering, "They were on the same side, right?! Why the hell did he do that?!"

Berk drops to the landscape with not a single shred of life dwelling in his body, his eyes having rolled to the back of his head while the blood dies down somewhat.

Nash catches Kusarigama's chain via his left hand and scoffs indifferently. "Much betta'." The Caucasian shifts his vision to Yuki as he grins in a sinister method. "Ya' turn's next, girl."

Yuki pulls herself rearward due to fear until mustering the courage to yell out while upset, "What's the matter with you?!"

Nash raises his right eyebrow with curiosity radiating. "Huh?"

Yuki stomps her left foot onto the terrain as the ice she created melted and evaporated. "He was your friend, correct?! You two have the same goal, so how come you went and killed him?!" The beauty extends her left arm to the side while no longer clenched as she stated that last part.

Sano smirks and nods in while softly remarking to himself, "Same thing I said."

Nash's eyes turn cold. "Ya' should mind ya' own business and die." He immediately pulls his left arm back and hurls it forth to launch Kusarigama's sickle at Yuki with blinding velocity.

Yuki attempts to elude the assault with her left arm hanging, but is too hurt from Berk's lone hit to do so while exhibiting a frantic behavior.

Then, right when the chained-blade was going to strike Yuki's face, one of Ruyi Jingu Bang's ends stretches out ahead of Kusarigama's path as the item blocks it. This results in the sickle currently stuck into the dark orange staff while astonishment overcomes Nash before maneuvering his concentration to the weapon's origin and witnesses Sano continuously standing on top of the building he's been on for the past five minutes with Ruyi Jingu Bang over his head so he could properly angle it to blot Nash's blade.

Yuki happily smiles. "It's you! Ummm..." A bland demeanor replaces Yuki's happiness until an apologetic look surfaces with her left hand hoisted to the middle of her chest. "I'm sorry. I forgot your name."

Sano almost falls off the structure, still gripping his staff via both hands, and then regains his balance to halfheartedly grin at Yuki with his eyes closed. "Sano is my name. Please, try to remember it."

Yuki shamefully nods. "Right. Sorry again."

Meanwhile, Nash delivers a fierce glare toward Sano while doing everything in his power not to lose his cool since he is not fond of people interfering. "How long have ya' been up there?!"

Sano switches his focus to Nash, mumbling, "Retract." His staff promptly shrinks until getting to its usual size as Sano calmly responds with his arms down. "Does it really matter how long?"

Nash grows serious as he cracks his finger via opening and closing his hands quickly. "It does when I didn't even notice ya' 'til now! I probably wouldn't have if ya' didn't get in my way!"

Sano sighs amidst scratching the back of his head via his right appendage, sustaining a firm grip upon Ruyi Jingu Bang via the other hand, and veers his head westward. "Lovely... And here I thought it was bad enough the villagers try to ignore my existence on a daily basis, but when somebody who doesn't even know me neglects my presence, it's like I'm invisible to you NORMAL people or something." The boy reconsiders his statement after briefly cocking his head sideways as he thinks, "I'd like to say Dante's the exception, although he's clearly a weirdo in his own right. Actually, it's exactly as he explained, we're both freaks. I just gotta' learn in what way he is one, aside from the mind reading."

Nash starts to get frustrated while thinking, "This is fuckin' pissin' me off! He's not even payin' attention to me!" He expels an enraged grunt prior to sending his left Kusarigama towards Sano.

Worry radiates from Yuki as she frantically shouts, "Sano, watch out!"

Sano smirks after situating his head upright and thinks, "She said my name." He then casually steers his head accordingly, keys onto the blade flying towards him and simply knocks it away with a horizontal swing from Ruyi Jingu Bang. Accomplishing that, the lad plants one end of his staff on the roof's surface as he nonchalantly comments, "Do you have some kind of problem with me? We were only talking and you come out all of the sudden with a random attack. That's not very nice, you know."

Nash pulls Kusarigama's chain to draw it back towards him, catching it in his left hand before snapping his arm southward to make his elbow crack. "Give me a break! Ya started zonin' out! All I did was help ya' concentrate on wha' matters!" A sly smile forms as he nudges his head towards Yuki's direction. "Unless ya' want me ta' kill this girl off first! Is tha' it?!"

Sano abruptly Leaps off the roof, effortlessly lands on his feet, stands a few feet in front of the building's entrance while Ruyi Jingu Bang remains in hand and locks eyes with Nash. "That won't be necessary. She's already had her fun for today. I'll be your opponent, so don't get her involved anymore."

Nash allows a small laugh to escape his breath prior to taking out his right hand from his pocket as he gradually gyrates it to warm up his muscles. "I figured ya' would spout somethin' like tha'." His eyes narrow while glistening, despite them being pitch black. "Somethin' 'bout you really gets under my skin. I can't wait ta' add ya' ta' my kill count." He evilly snickers.
