Episode 11: Great Night To Gamble
*Starting Scene*
Rushing throughout Luckson, Ilya and Yuki desperately check every casino they come across in the search of Dante after the pink-haired girl confirmed that some money had been stolen from her purse, significantly upsetting her since she never expected Dante to do that. Unfortunately, they go quite a while without finding their companion as exhaustion plagues them and decide to take a break in front of the same mall they were previously while sitting on a wooden bench against it.
Ilya sighs from exasperation while dropping her head with both arms dangling between her legs. "Where the heck is he?! We've been to half a dozen casinos! He's nowhere to be found!" She closes her eyes and cocks her head rearward. "I hate it when he does this!"
Yuki gazes at Ilya out of the corner of her left eye due to the white-haired teen located that way as mild confusion forms while her legs are jointed together, unlike Ilya's. "He's done it before?"
Ilya makes eye contact with Yuki and nods. "Yeah, but only once." She becomes very agitated while focusing upon the floor ahead of her. "It was equally as annoying. Plus, I never caught him, he randomly appeared and that's it."
Yuki radiates tenacity as she clenches both hands following her lifting them a bit. "That doesn't matter! We won't give up until we find him and properly scold him for stealing from me!"
A small amount of surprise envelopes Ilya's prior to grinning with admiration amidst thinking, "I have to admit it, I like her determination." The hazel-eyed individual then sharply nods and fixes her posture while saying with confidence, "You're right! Don't forget, we need to punish him for having us worry too!"
Yuki enthusiastically smiles. "Right!"
Then, without any warning, an abrupt thought pops into both girls' mind while their eyes simultaneously widen before deviating their attention from one another and think in unison, "Darn! I just told her that I was concerned over Dante!" They both hesitantly lock eyes, nervously laugh a tad and divert their concentration again while partially blushing. Afterwards, the duo grow really quiet for a period as they don't know what to discuss next.
Soon enough, Ilya unexpectedly recalls the waitress that served them when they ate, invoking a look of realization, and hurriedly gets up from the bench as she urgently veers her vision towards Yuki while gesturing her right hand at her comrade. "Wait right here! I think I might have found a lead to where Dante could be!"
Yuki nods as she mounted both hands onto her lap. "Okay! Good luck!"
With that, Ilya runs off to her left to go inside the mall's entrance stationed there while thinking, "I hope she's still working!"
Meanwhile, Yuki shifts her focus from the mall's doorway, which is simply a large pathway leading into the vicinity, to the large sum of people walking in front of her and releases a dull sigh before mumbling, "I wonder... Does Dante like Ilya...?" She then remembers how the blonde defended her both when entering Luckson and tried to protect her as they waited to make their order at dinner. This results in Yuki becoming optimistic while loudly stating with no care for the folks nearby, "No way! He's totally interested in me!" A menacing smirk surfaces after Yuki giggles. "Doesn't mean I'll let him off the hook for snatching money from me without permission."
As Yuki uttered that, Ilya hastily journeys to the restaurant, and once the chick is a few meters away, fortunately discovers the very waitress that served her group getting out of work. A moment later, the teenage girl shouts while waving both arms to obtain the young woman with brownish/green hair's attention. "Hey, you!"
The waitress immediately halts while confronting Ilya with minor nervousness brimming. "Y-Yes...?"
Ilya jogs pass a couple of people in her way and stops right ahead of the attractive dame while heavily panting. "Tell me... When you think of... Casinos..." She profoundly inhales to gain some composure. "What place comes to mind...?"
The waitress slants her head to the left with curiosity added. "Why do you ask?"
Ilya harshly yells at the female individual, tightly gripping her hands into fists, as she's clearly angry, "Merely tell me!"
The waitress panics while instantly pulling her head backwards with her arms raised as if she was being arrested and uncontrollably stutters. "L-L-L-Lady L-L-Luck C-C-Casino!"
Ilya retorts with no real alteration to her attitude. "Thank you!" She's about to turn away from the waitress, however, sustains her ground to bow at the young lady in a polite manner with her eyes closed. "And I'm sorry for my rudeness." Ilya straightens herself amidst swinging her body around to sprint in the direction she came.
All the waitress could do was watch Ilya's departure, stunned by what transpired with her hands continually hoisted and then thinks, "Mom was correct... There ARE crazy people where you least anticipate..."
*Scene Change*
Dante, Jeremiah and Claire all head to the gambling tables as there are well over a dozen exhibited in a big room, having exited the food court. They eventually witness a massive crowd before them, chatting among themselves and laughing while several are not too happy about how their luck is going. Following that, the trio go to exchange the money they possess for playing chips prior to trudging deeper within the casino as the three of them strive not to bump into anyone while uncertain of what they should do first.
Claire analyzes the area with a hint of stress. "Alright. We must be real smart about this. After all, we only have $200." She locks eyes with Dante. "I believe we should at least have it last as long as possible."
Not allowing Dante a chance to respond, Jeremiah haphazardly appears at a table with a roulette wheel towards the trio's left as there aren't many people and slams all the chips on it in a stack formation while demonstrating no signs of hesitation. "Everything on black!"
Claire's completely baffled by Jeremiah's actions while instantly facing towards him. "What?!"
A male Table Clerk nods in acceptance of Jeremiah's bet, dressed in the appropriate outfit for his job, and spins the roulette while steering his concentration to it. "No more bets!"
Then, precisely when the Table Clerk was about to launch the roulette ball, Dante rushes over to Jeremiah's right without the dark-haired man noticing since he was so immersed into waiting for the tiny sphere to fall as he swiftly snatches a handful of chips at the top of the stack via his right hand. Right after, the ball drops onto the wheel while briefly bouncing around until detaining as the clerk declares with not much emotion, "Red!"
Claire rapidly lunges towards Jeremiah while administering a strong, right punch to the back of his head that forces the husky man to let out a pain-filled cry and portrays an enraged scowl. "What's the matter with you?! Don't you ever learn, you dunce?!"
Jeremiah nervously laughs amidst seeing his wife as he rubs the afflicted region. "I'm Sorry... I solely thought that betting everything on the color my love is wearing would bring nothing but fortune."
Claire's left eye twitches until inflicting another blow onto Jeremiah's cranium, leaving the dark-haired fellow crouching down with both hands grasping his head. "Do you really think saying that will compel me to forgive you?! You ought to be out of your mind!"
Dante chuckles with both hands toward his rear, observing the couple from Claire's left at a small distance away, and thinks, "The funny thing is that she actually does enjoy it whenever he blurts those sorta' stuff to her." The Caucasian intervenes into the duet's confrontation while wielding a cheerful expression and has his eyes shut. "You two do make a great couple. I hope someday I'd have somebody to love the same way you two do."
Claire shifts her attention to Dante as she's momentarily surprised prior to her face softening up so she can kindly grin at the blonde. "Oh, you're too sweet, Dante!" She narrows her eyes while drawing them to Jeremiah with discontent. "Just pray she doesn't have a bad habit like this old man."
Jeremiah peers at Claire without undoing the position he's in while mildly laughing from embarrassment. Afterwards, the husky man gets into an upright posture, directing himself towards Dante, and shrugs. "Well, I guess that's it."
Seriousness takes shape on Claire and looks at her husband out of the corner of her eyes while crossing her arms. "Are you blind? It isn't over yet."
Jeremiah's plagued by confusion as he instills his sight toward Claire. "Huh?"
Claire motions to Dante with her head. "Dante was quick enough to snag some chips before the ball landed on the wheel. Meaning that we got a little money remaining."
Happiness overflows from Jeremiah's being while raising both hands in front of himself and tightly clenches them. "Really?!" He switches his vision to Dante. "How much?!"
Dante shamefully brings his right hand towards the pair, revealing three playing chips with the value of ten dollars a piece. "Sorry. I could only manage to grab those. If not, the clerk would've said something, right?"
Disappointment can be depicted upon Jeremiah and slumps a bit while both hands are hanging to his sides. "Yeah..."
Claire walks up to Dante with sincerity presented. "It's fine though. Better than nothing. Anyway, you were pretty fast. We would have no hope whatsoever without you." She navigates her gaze to Jeremiah. "Ain't that correct, hun?"
Jeremiah joins the duo as he grabs the chips in Dante's appendage via his left hand with an understanding demeanor. "Definitely."
Dante smirks while dropping his hand as he merely watches the couple, experiencing immense joy dwell inside him.
Claire reverts her focus to Dante for a few seconds until viewing the ceiling with curiosity emanating. "Now, let's see what we can do... If we go to the slot machines, we might be lucky to win some money or even hit a jackpot. That'll be a good method to turn things around." She mounts her concentration toward Dante again while lifting her right index finger. "But we have to be SUPER smart about this. Nothing insane."
Jeremiah suddenly stations himself back at the same table as earlier, planting all three chips onto it, and states in determination, "Everything on black!"
Claire snaps her head to Jeremiah and screams out of dismay, "WHAT?!" The husky woman hurriedly approaches her husband with a speed unexpected by such a person, especially wearing heels, and puts Jeremiah in a choke-hold while pure anger resurfaces. "What kind of moron are you?!"
Jeremiah frantically taps his partner's right arm to inform her that he gives up while talking with a strained voice. "I'm sorry...!"
Dante urgently interjects as he showing Claire that he has the three playing chips within his grip. "Calm down, Mrs. Charisma! I was able to get the chips in time!"
Claire abruptly releases Jeremiah and exclaims with a delighted attitude after clasping her hands together while setting her sights upon the wavy-haired lad. "Again, Dante saves the day!" She then places her right index finger ahead of herself to gesture towards Dante with her left eye closed as she playfully utters, "And please, call me Claire!" The husky woman giggles.
Dante happily nods prior to handing the chips to Claire since Jeremiah apparently can't be trusted. "So, what do we do?"
Claire ponders over Dante's question, separating her hands from one another to attain possession of the playing chips via her left hand, while tapping her bottom lip with her right index finger after perching her opposing limb on her hip as she stares at the ceiling. "Hmm... Well, I really think the slot machines would be the best option." The dark-haired female deviates her attention to Dante and Jeremiah while placing a chip in her right hand before extending both arms forth. "Here."
Both Dante and Jeremiah are given a single chip as they are situated side by side with faint intrigue established.
Having registered their behavior, Claire displays the last chip between her left hand's index and middle finger with a relaxed personality. "We'll each be responsible to EARN MONEY." She issues Jeremiah a dirty glare as she loses a bit of her composure. "Although, I shouldn't even be GIVING you anything after all that idiocy!"
Jeremiah doesn't falter to Claire's pressure with confidence overflowing as he shuts his eyes and rests his eastern hand, which is the one not containing the playing chip, onto his chest. "Don't fret, my gracious wife! This time for sure, our luck will be good!" He looks at his partner with his right eye still closed. "Process it a bit, dear! We normally would be bankrupt! This is a positive sign that stuff is finally going our way!"
Claire rolls her eyes before randomly ensnaring her husband's collar via both hands to draw him near her, seeing into his eyes, while significantly annoyed and says in a intimidating whisper, "The only reason why we aren't flat broke yet is because of Dante...!"
Jeremiah maintains his cool, elevating his hands in the effort to calm his wife. "That's why!"
Claire becomes confused as she tilts her head to the right. "How so?"
Jeremiah descends his hands to their respective sections with a smile. "It's just that..." He veers his vision to Dante, standing to the husky man's left. "Since such a nice boy showed up and even praised our singing..." He resets his concentration upon Claire. "I simply know that he's our good luck charm. I feel like... Everything will be different with him around."
With Claire awestruck by her partner's words, Dante can't help being flattered and confronts Jeremiah as he sharply bows after hooking both thumbs into his jean's pockets. "Thank you for thinking that." Bashfulness engulfs the green-eyed gentleman while bringing his left hand upward to scratch his head's rear. "Not too sure if I'll provide a real difference though."
Jeremiah fully aims his focus toward Dante while tenaciously nodding. "You will! I'll demonstrate it to you in a second!" He swiftly runs to the roulette table and slams his left hand there with his eyes brightly gleaming. "Everything on black!"
Claire overcome with disbelief as she screams at Jeremiah, "AGAIN?!"
*Scene Change*
Ilya and Yuki had traveled all the way from the mall with haste as they eventually reached the Lady Luck Casino. Achieving that, the two girls take some time to catch their breath with both bent onward prior to entering the casino. Both teens desperately scan the confines once they're inside for any trace of Dante, however, are unsuccessful in terms of plain sight and have no choice other than to do a more thorough search.
After doing that for several minutes, Ilya commences to get frustrated while stopping near numerous slot machines with countless people either sitting at a machine or roaming about. "Sheesh! I feel like we've checked everywhere! I was pretty certain he came here! Dante must've read that waitress' mind and learned this place's existence during her explanation of Luckson!"
Yuki runs toward Ilya due to briefly parting ways so she can retrieve any information available as he tightly holds her purse's strap with both hands for it not to slip off her left shoulder. "Ilya!"
Ilya quickly confronts Yuki with seriousness resonating. "What's up?! Did you find him?!"
Yuki shakes her head from disappointment. "No, but I did discover that this place is SO big that there are five sections practically identical with three food courts! And here's the kicker, we've only been looking in one so far!"
Ilya gawks at Yuki, leaning towards the princess with disbelief portrayed. "Are you serious?! We'll never locate him then!"
Yuki gestures her right hand out to the side with determination presented while firmly clenching the left counterpart. "I don't care! He needs to learn his lesson about stealing!"
Ilya folds her arms together while emanating a stern demeanor and nods. "You're absolutely right. It's bad to steal from people."
Yuki plants both hands on her hips as she slants her head to the left with skepticism radiating. "The heck are you on?!" The blue-eyed beauty fixes her head's angling while talking in a somewhat snobbish manner. "Forget people! He needs to comprehend not to ever steal from ME! That's it!" She steers her head away from Ilya after shutting her eyes and flicks her right hand at the hazel-eyed individual. "I could care less if he does it to anyone else!"
Ilya's substantially baffled and unfolds her arms to mildly extend them to opposite sides of her constitution. "Really?! Are you that spoiled to say that?!"
Yuki sharply retorts out of anger. "I am NOT spoiled! I'm merely honest!"
Ilya sufficiently narrows the gap dividing her from Yuki for the them to be inches apart while coldly glaring at her companion. "I swear, I don't know what went through Dante's skull when he invited you to join us. You're nothing but a greedy, little girl who only thinks of herself."
Yuki's hair begins to stand as she becomes furious, gritting her teeth until blurting, "Fine! I'll just go! Good luck finding Dante, Miss Know-It-All! Hmph!" She rapidly deviates herself from Ilya and marches away with a displeased behavior.
An agitated scowl forms onto Ilya and entwines her arms once more as he mumbles, "Whatever..." The white-haired chick faces toward her right with minor emotion as she resumes her search for Dante.
Sadly for the teenagers, upon leaving that sector, Dante nonchalantly traverses behind a row of slot machines that were right beside where the two girls had been situated, with Mr. and Mrs. Charisma following him as they try discerning an open machine.
In the meantime, Yuki wanders into another area of the casino while feeling a little depressed by the argument with Ilya amidst thinking, "Why is it that we are always fighting?" She momentarily remembers Ilya calling her spoiled before persisting her thought process with a disgruntled expression. "Am I really acting that way?" The pink-haired character lightly shakes her head after closing her eyes and then scoffs while cocking her head rearward a little as she thinks, "No, I'm not!" Yuki gazes at the floor while idly passing folks by as a hint of sadness establishes itself and softly inquires to herself, "How could I be spoiled if all I've got from people was those demeaning stares?" The Spellcaster's bangs shadow her eyes. "Any possibility of me being spoiled disappeared when mommy and my sisters died." The blue-eyed individual instantly halts to analyze her surroundings, having not paid much mind to where she was heading, as she's overcome by shame. "Oh, crud! I forgot which way is the exit!"
Because of that, Yuki starts panicking while smacking a hand on each cheek and keeps scanning the casino's confines while jogging in one spot. "Freaking darn it! Where is it?!" She soon keys on a craps table as the dame witnesses people happily shouting, compliments of a number being called. This forces Yuki to relax, removes both hands from her head as she's no longer hysterical and gradually advances towards the table with a dozen people around it, including its respective clerk.
Seeing Yuki walk near the other end of the table from his positioning, a different Table Clerk from the one Dante and the singing duet were dealing with at the roulette evilly smirks as he thinks, "Fresh meat! And if those expensively, stylish clothes are any indication, she oughta' loaded!" He promptly alters his attitude to mask his true intentions and issues Yuki a kind smile. "Hey there, little lady! You wanna' try?!" The clerk pushes the two red, clear dice that are commonly used in crap tables via the dice stick that's to make it easier for giving to the players.
Yuki brims astonishment as she points at herself with her right hand. "Me?!" The corset-endowed female nervously shakes her head while trying to gain a bit of composure. "Nah... That's alright."
The Table Clerk, who happens to be quite handsome, displays a charming facade while winking at Yuki via his left eye. "Awe, come one! We'll even do the simple version of this game!"
A small amount of suspicion plagues Yuki. "Um... How exactly do you play...?"
The Table Clerk's bewildered by Yuki's question as he drew his head back a tad. "What is that?!" He delivers a patronizing look. "You don't know how to play?!" The Table Clerk shrugs with both arms slightly raised to his sides. "If that's the problem, I'd be obliged to inform you."
Yuki bashfully nods, experiencing uncertainty throughout. "Uh, okay."
The Table Clerk happily laughs and crosses his arms. "Good! Now, since this is the simple way of playing, all you're required to do is not roll a 2, 3, 7, 11 or 12 in the beginning. During your first roll called the Come Out roll, you will keep rolling until you get any number other than the five numbers I mentioned. Once you do, you need to try to hit that number to double what you bet. However, in this way of playing, so you're not too confused by the complicated rules of the actual game play, if you were to roll another number that isn't the illegal numbers, you'll gain 10% that will accumulate. This will continue until you land onto the first number you rolled."
Yuki slants her head to the right with mild concern mixed in. "And if I were to get an illegal number before that?"
The Table Clerk bluntly answers. "Then, you'll lose everything that you bet and accumulated." He chuckles in an sinister way. "Solely know that, as long you don't ever roll those, you'll win."
Yuki's personality sustains itself while glimpsing at the people that are all smiling as if they're silently telling her to play. "I... I don't know...! For a basic variation, those rules still seem complicated!"
The Table Clerk gives Yuki an assuring grin as he gestures his right hand to point the index finger upward without separating his arms. "Just try it! That's all I ask! It's only an $100 minimum!" The guy opens up his hand while retaining his arm in the same position. "For this game, it's normally much higher!"
Yuki pauses for several seconds and resets her sights onto the Table Clerk before hesitantly nodding. "Fine. I guess playing a little wouldn't hurt." She then thinks while diverting her concentration from the man, "Who knows? It might help me get over what Miss Know-It-All said."
The Table Clerk lowers his right hand to its corresponding region while maintaining a decent hold on his arm with the other limb. "Splendid!" He immediately thinks with maliciousness overflowing from him, "I caught another sucker! She's fairly cute too! I might drive her deep under the table so she's begging me to save her!" The clerk laughs in his mind prior thinking, "Then, I'll be the goodhearted fellow that I am and save her...! Of course, that's after I drive myself deep into her as a fee!"
Yuki navigates herself from the Table Clerk with a nonchalant demeanor as she views him out of the corner of her left eye. "Let me just exchange some money for chips."
TThe Table Clerk waves off Yuki's effort via his right hand and portentously declares, "No need! I got that covered!" He hurriedly hoists his right hand above his head to snap his fingers multiple times.
That action attains the focus of a semi-muscular, dark-skinned man wearing a black suit who's in his late 30s while having a white-colored, buzzed haircut along most of his head, except for the front where he has a lock of hair spiked up to three inches high.
Afterwards, the Table Clerk rubbed his fingers together without dropping the appendage to signal that a quick exchange was necessary as an evil behavior is emitted.
Thanks to that, the adult in the black suit nods at the Table Clerk with stern, hazel/green eyes, fully knowing what his colleague that's calling for him has planned, and faces a medium-sized cart of chips he lugs around for fast exchanges, which is right next to him. Soon enough, the white-haired individual pushes the cart towards Yuki's location while signaled by the clerk that she's the one requiring the exchange via the same hand he used to call the muscular character and ruggedly asks, "How much would you desire, Milady?"
Yuki hastily rummages through her purse in search of her money after completely directing her attention to the rectangular object until pulling out a twenty dollar bill while blankly watching it as it's lifted in front of her with her left hand. Not long after, Yuki aims an embarrassed smile toward everybody amidst shutting her eyes while placing her right hand atop her head. "My apologies. I forgot I was low on cash." She dismounts her hand from her cranium and implements her vision onto all of them. "Actually, I was looking for someone. I wonder if you may have seen him. He's-"
The Table Clerk cuts Yuki off as he's in a foul mood while resting both hands on the craps table's edge. "Nobody gives a damn! If you have no money, then don't be wasting people's time!"
Irritation swiftly overwhelms Yuki with her right eye twitching for an instance and speaks in a growl. "That so...?!" The pink-haired girl folds her arm while returning the bill back into her purse and stations herself sideways, temporarily refraining to make eye contact with the Table Clerk. "Hmph! Like it matters! I didn't really want to play your stupid game!" Yuki gazes at the man out of the corner of her eyes. "You were probably going to cheat me with that magnetic power of yours anyway."
The players encompassing that table simultaneously gasps at Yuki's revelation prior to one of the men angrily questioning, "Is that true?!"
A woman standing across the guy who recently spoke becomes quite distraught while yelling toward the Table Clerk, "Impossible! That means you're a Spellcaster?!"
Another man inquires, equally as angry as the other with his focus onto Yuki, "Are you telling me that he's been ripping us off?!"
The Table Clerk becomes scared, desperately waving both arms forth to ease the crowd down. "No, No! I'm not a Spellcaster! Can't you see that she's lying to get back at me?!"
Yuki harshly retorts. "I am not! It's obvious that the dots on those dice are made out of metal! It would be easy for ANY Magnetic Spellcaster to manipulate!"
A third male comments with an upset expression. "That makes sense! It explains why we'd win big at first, but lose it all and even lose additional money out of our own pockets!"
The Table Clerk unites his hands in a pleading manner. "Please! Don't believe her!"
Yuki reverts her concentration to the rest of the players, confusion enveloping her. "Why is everyone so uptight about him being a Spellcaster?"
A different lady poised to Yuki's left replies with a disgruntled attitude. "You don't know?! It's for the exact reason that they can utilize their abilities to cheat us out of our cash!" She glares at the clerk. "Plus, they're nothing but trouble! It's because of THEM that us humans have been dragged into a war we didn't even want to be involved in!"
Yuki's eyes widen with horror emanating and thinks, "Really?! Even if they aren't all at fault, people would shun them solely for being a Spellcaster!" The blue-eyed chick veers her attention away from the woman to stare at the craps table while thinking, "So... I'm not the only one who dealt with a life of scrutiny." Yuki glances at each player around the table as they show immense hatred towards the Table Clerk and vaguely utters with dread demonstrated, "I get it... Suffering occurs to many... A lot of people tolerate it and persist, no matter what." Her lips quiver, attempting not to shed a single tear. "I am spoiled to have realized that now... Is it that my father didn't want to tell me...?"
The crowd glaring at the Table Clerk eventually start marching towards him without relinquishing an ounce of their wrath while the man detaches his hands from one another and slowly retreats as despair consumes him. "No! Please, listen to me!" The worker peers over at the suited gentleman with distress added. "Hey! Do something!"
The man wearing the black suit nods before switching his focus to Yuki with a firm composition and whispers, "Milady... You're a Spellcaster as well, are you not? That's the lone method for your knowledge."
Yuki locks eyes with the dark-skinned person as speaks softly back at the individual. "Yes, however, I did know about the metal in the dice due to my sisters. They used to trick me with them and I had suspected that it was similar. To be honest, I'm not too good with sensing magic, so I was mainly going by my intuition."
The muscular guy gently smiles. "And yet, you were still gonna' play."
Yuki nods with a hint of sincerity established. "I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt."
The suited man earnestly states, "You're such a nice girl. You're parents raised you well."
Yuki turns a faint shade of red while responding in a flustered way. "T-Thank you."
The man endowed in the black suit nods one last time. "No problem. You should go." He glimpses at the loud mob surrounding the Table Clerk. "As you can see, they aren't to fond of Spellcasters. It's best they don't discover what you are."
Determination rapidly overtakes Yuki. "Okay! Thanks again!" She promptly commandeers herself from the adult and runs pass a large sum of people.
The hazel-eyed male observes Yuki's departure until moving his sight to the Table Clerk, who's continually crying for assistance. Unfortunately for the clerk, aid will not arrive as the suited figure diverts his concentration from the Table Clerk while rolling his eyes, walks away and murmurs, "I told him he needed to be careful."
*Scene Change*
Claire sits ahead of a slot machine, anxiously awaiting the results of the spins with Dante standing to the husky woman's left and Jeremiah on the right while both are using the slot machines beside them for leverage via one of their hands. Then, the three slots finally cease, one after the other, while unfortunately revealing that Claire didn't win. This causes the trio to let out a sad groan as they hang their head in unison.
Jeremiah issues his wife a dull look amidst straightening his posture a bit as he sarcastically remarks, "Well... That sure was a GREAT idea! Now you're out of money too!"
Claire instantaneously rises to her feet prior to groveling something under her breath that Dante managed hearing within her mind. A split second later, the-dark-haired woman lands a left uppercut upon Jeremiah, sending him crashing into slot machines that are nearby. After that, Clair fiercely exclaims with both hands clenched while lowered as she's directed towards Jeremiah. "Who are you to judge?! You're the addicted fool, who ONCE AGAIN, went all in and lost!"
Dante watches Claire while surprised and thinks, "That just now... It was..."
Jeremiah replies in a daze, draped onto a broken slot machine. "Ah... You're... You're right... I'm sorry... I'm sorry about that dumb thing I... I said."
Claire entwines her arms with skepticism exhibited. "Sure, you are." She draws her vision toward Dante while sheepishly smirking. "I apologize, Dante. It appears you'll have to save the day one more time."
Dante wholeheartedly nods. "It's okay! I got no qualms!"
Claire's overjoyed by Dante's answer and is almost driven to tears as she haphazardly hugs the lad while burying him into her large chest. "Oh, lord! You're SO much like Jeremiah's former self!"
Dante feels a little suffocated as he tries to endure it, because if not, he may die.
Claire soon releases Dante from her grasp while putting her hands together while positioning them downward and questions with a lot of enthusiasm, "Fine, what slot machine you want to try?!" The husky lady brushes off the machine she was sitting at via both hands, maintaining them joined in the process. "Let's not go with this one! It's already proven to be SUPER bad!"
Regaining his breath after panting for a brief period, Dante's on the verge of speaking until listening to a man's voice shout about a cheap Black Jack Table from the background, considering that the slot machine's placement being close to the row's end. Immediately following that, the green-eyed human swings himself around to face towards the source as his eyes light up with excitement and hurriedly rushes to the table.
Claire strives to detain Dante with her right arm stretched forward. "Wait, Dante! Don't become like Jeremiah so fast! You're still too young to be such a fool!" She runs after the hoodie-endowed individual with her arm dropped.
Concurrently, Jeremiah blabbers incoherently from atop the slot machines with a few people poking at his body to ensure he's alive.
Once the blonde reached the Black Jack table , Dante noticed that no one else was playing for whatever reason, even though the clerk's accepting any money as a valid bet and contentedly sits in the middle chair. He was then told by Claire and Jeremiah, who somehow dragged himself off the busted slot machine while vaguely out of it, about how Black Jack worked.
At the same time, the Table Clerk with a pretty sneaky-looking face was planning a scheme to obtain more customers. This explains why nobody wishes to play at such a low cost since they understand that he's well-known for cheating and no one wants to be tricked. So, what the devious Table Clerk planned was that he'll let Dante win a stupid number of times before goading the Caucasian into betting it all to screw him over with the the deck's Aces hidden in his sleeves. For the guy, it was surely a perfect idea, except that he had no idea Dante already knew his scheme via hearing his thoughts.
Dante lifts his left eyebrow and grins out of amusement as he thinks, "Tonight's not a good night to be a cheater."
The Black Jack game promptly commences with Dante winning several hands and, as if according the Table Clerk's plan, the wavy-haired character kept on doubling his earnings. As a result, the sneaky Table Clerk felt real giddy the moment a huge crowd gathered while clearly cheering Dante on, Jeremiah and Claire included, due to wanting somebody to get payback for the money they lost. This leads to the dealer to secretly throw out a couple of the Aces for Dante to deviate any suspicion of cheating.
Ultimately, Dante had doubled so many times, despite some partial strings of bad luck thanks to it being impossible for him to win every hand but at least it was when he dodged betting everything, that he succeeded in accumulating five thousand dollars.
At that point, the sneaky Table Clerk decided to go in for the kill with such a profound group present.
Keying onto the fact that the plan's coming full circle, Dante momentarily ponders inside his brain with a cynical smile as his eyes are glued on the clerk. "Okay... I can simply walk away, although there's one even better method to make this guy pay for his cheating ways."
The devious Table Clerk passes the two cards towards Dante while, to himself, one face down as he confirm with a glance that it's a King of Hearts card. After doing that, the fellow perches the remaining Ace in his left sleeve face up on top as it ironically is the Ace of Hearts and directs a malicious smirk toward Dante. "So... All in again?"
Dante nods with not a shred of fear portrayed. "Yup, but this will be my last one. I gotta' return to my apartment soon." He chuckles while shutting his eyes.
The sneaky Table Clerk nods back at Dante, thinking with an ecstatic conduct, "Excellent timing! I don't need you anymore!" He temporarily checks out the spectators surrounding them as he thinks, "Look at all the suckers I have to rip off!" The clerk gradually pulls out a card from the top of the Poker Deck via his right left hand while holding it in his right and calmly asks, "Would you desire a card?"
Dante glimpses at his cards prior to lying them upon the table and gestures his right hand to the side. "I'll stay."
Curiosity plagues the sneaky Table Clerk as he mounts the card he was extracting from the deck onto it again while thinking, "He must have gotten a 19 or 20." He mildly laughs while placing the Poker Deck on his right of the table and grabs his two cards as he utters, "Then, allow me to verify if the house will stay as well." The guy sees his face down card and pretends to be stunned. "Oh, wow! What luck!" He turns over the King to present that he has twenty-one and arrogantly chuckles, setting his sights upon Dante once more. "Apparently, the House wins!"
The giant crowd release a groan while Jeremiah slaps his forehead and yell in frustration, "Should've made him walk away!"
Meanwhile, Claire's sadden by Dante's lost after all his seemingly good fortune and mutters, "Yeah... We should have." She slants her head to the left. "Poor, Dante."
The sneaky Table Clerk shrugs with his behavior not teetering, sustaining his grip onto the King. "That's just the way it is, kid! You win some and you lose some!"
Dante gets to his feet as he cheerfully grins. "Exactly! That's why it stinks for you that you lost!"
Everyone's abruptly dumbfounded until the sneaky Table Clerk retorts with rage exhibited. "What are you talking about?! Nothing beats 21! And a tie with the House would give it the victory by casino rules!"
Dante cocks his head to the right while radiating a carefree demeanor. "That's normally true, except when you're up against the hand that the game is named after." The lad maneuvers his head to the right so he can peer at the singing duet with glee as they're standing behind him. "Isn't that right?!"
The couple are in shock for a split second before sharply nodding and state at the same time, "Right!"
Dante promptly grasps his two face down cards via his left hand to reveal them beside his right cheek as the Ace of Clubs and Jack of Clubs can be depicted by everybody. "That's Black Jack!"
That causes a huge uproar from all who witnessed Dante's victory while the sneaky Table Clerk couldn't wrap his head around it and gingerly comments, "How can this be...? My plan was perfect..." His anger greatly boils within him until he couldn't take it and shouts after punching both hands onto the Black Jack Table, "This is an atrocity!"
The spectators become silent, having been caught off guard by the clerk's outburst.
Dante gives the sneaky Table Clerk a skeptical look. "What makes you say that? Is it 'cause your scheme for me to be your guinea pig didn't work entirely?" The blonde inserts his left hand into his jean's pocket while pity forms. "Well, tough luck. That didn't pan out. I guess all's fair in love and war." Dane tauntingly winks at the clerk with his right eye as he demonstrates that he can also hide the cards in his sleeve. "It appears Lady Luck Casino was my winning stage, even though we both used the same trick."
The sneaky Table Clerk grits his teeth following him being shown that he was outwitted. "Oh, yeah?!" The man then slides his right hand under the table, pulls out a white/grey, old-styled Colt Gun strapped to it and aims the weapon at Dante. "In that case, let's have this place as your grave too!"
Dante's significantly awestruck by the tool amidst thinking, "What is that? I've never seen anything like it."
Concurrently, the spectators, including Jeremiah and Claire, comprehend what the gun is as the husky woman shouts in despair, "Dante, no!"
The sneaky Table Clerk quickly shoots a bullet upon pressing the trigger with a demented attitude emanating.
Right as the projectile almost hits the green-eyed person in the face, Dante contorts backwards while narrowly evading it, however, goes straight at Claire. This left Dante momentarily in awe until smirking with confidence brimming. "You got that, don't you... Mr. Charisma?"
Jeremiah instantly steps in front of his wife and deeply inhales after declaring in a low volume, "Sound Pitch." He then launches a loud sound-wave from his mouth that deflects the bullet back toward the dealer, penetrating his right shoulder.
The sneak Table clerk drops his weapon while falling to his knees, harshly grabs his injured shoulder via his left hand and reverberates an agonizing wail.
In the meantime, Jeremiah finished producing the sound-wave, directs his attention to Dante and delivers a proud thumbs up toward the Caucasian with his left hand. "You bet!" He soon speaks bluntly while tilting his thumb to the left. "And you know... You can call me Jeremiah."
Dante faces Jeremiah prior to nodding as he notices Claire displaying relief due to the young man being safe while the onlookers stare, speechless.
Sadly, that wasn't the end of it, compliments of the sneaky Table Clerk haphazardly sprints in the attempt of escaping towards the right section while continuously holding his wound and thinks, "I won't allow myself to be thrown in jail!"
Seeing the sneaky Table Clerk's effort infuriates Claire, leading to her whispering, "Speed up!" The dark-haired lady dashes towards the dealer with impeccable agility and stops right ahead of him. Accomplishing that, Clair deeply inhales after stating the same phrase as her husband, releases a powerful yodel that smacks right into the sneaky Table Clerk and sends him colliding into the Poker Table, leaving him reeling in pain.
Astonishment radiates from Dante as he does a fast double-take between the clerk and Claire before clapping to demonstrate to her how incredible she was.
A second later, Jeremiah also issues his partner a round of applause.
Claire grows a little bashful until doing a couple of bows to accept Dante's and Jeremiah's clapping while giggling.
Not much time passes following the city's law enforcement having been called to take the sneaky Table Clerk into custody, confiscating the Colt since it apparently is an illegal weapon to be owned. This transpires without Dante getting the opportunity to find out why, even with his ability to hear thoughts as he's escorted out of the Lady Luck Casino by the singing pair while carrying a black brief case in his right hand while the sun slowly begins to ascend. "Hmm... That's nice. It's already morning."
The duet position themselves near Dante's posterior while visibly depressed.
Dante veers his focus to the duo as he's a bit worried. "You both don't want to say goodbye to me, huh?"
Claire nods with her eyes starting to water. "The thing is...! If we had been fortunate,..! We would've wished for a son just like you!"
Jeremiah curls his left arm around his partner while restraining any possible tears that may want to escape. "I agree."
Dante's overrun by joy. "Again, you two flatter me. I'm glad to have met you." Intrigue replaces the young man's expression. "But why is it that you didn't tell me you two were Class E Spellcasters capable of manipulating sound?"
Jeremiah answers. "I guess you don't understand the world yet. Humans hate Spellcasters. It may have been another reason folks quit coming to our show. They must've discovered somehow. We didn't put a ton of thought into it. We're accustomed to not thinking about what we are and solely concentrate on each other."
Dante's eyes widen a little out of realization and thinks, "That explains their thoughts not letting me know!"
Claire joins in upon wiping the tears from her eyes via her left hand. "Hence why we were so happy that a normal boy, such as yourself, approved of us after finding out."
Dante gives the couple an honest smile. "Of course, I would! Who you're labeled as doesn't matter to me! I'll like whatever or whoever I want to and that's the end of it!"
Jeremiah and Clair are immensely impressed by Dante's words prior to the male recalling a detail as he remarks with grand interest, "Hey, you were very fast at dodging that bullet though! We should rethink calling you a normal boy so loosely! That was SUPER amazing!"
Claire slaps Jeremiah on the rear of his head with her right hand while agitated a tad. "Don't be stealing my word."
Jeremiah rubs where he was struck via his right hand. "Ouch... Sorry..."
Dante chuckles. "I repeat, you make a great couple." The wavy-haired gentleman commences to turn away from Claire and Jeremiah. "Well, I'll be off." He suddenly registers the brief case in his appendage and remembers something. "Oh, right." Dante swiftly snaps open the case while grabbing a good quantity of money with his left hand to put it in his pocket, shuts the rectangular object again and tosses it at the pair. "Catch."
Jeremiah manages to comply with his free hand and then emits a baffled personality, applying his right hand on the case as well. "What's this?!"
Dante replies in a smart-ass manner. "Basically $9,000. Eat, live and have as much fun as you can with that. After all, it was with your $10 that I won it. I only needed roughly $1,000 and that's to pay someone back for their kindness." The hoodie-endowed character wholeheartedly smirks.
The duet are unable to talk as all they could muster was a tearful nod of acceptance.
Dante eventually resumes his departure to the motel.
Several seconds after that, the couple enter into the casino while, ironically, Ilya and Yuki pass by them with major exhaustion portrayed as they were hoping to locate Dante, even though the duo aren't really in speaking terms because of their previous argument. Without Dante being in plain sight, the two females decide to give up since the sun has risen and go on back to the motel while dragging their feet.
