"Miss Elphaba! Come quick!"

Elphaba, Galindo, and (Name) burst through the doors of Madame Morrible's quarters and onto the balcony.

"There!" Miss Morrible pointed to the sky.

The trio looked up to see a miniature hot air balloon floating in the sky.

"Elphie, you've got to get down there!" Galindo grabbed Elphaba's arm and took (Name)'s hand, rushing them down.

The three friends ran down the stairs to join the crowd staring at the hot air balloon.

"Miss Elphaba! I've finally heard back from the Wizard!" Madame Morrible exclaimed.

Elphaba looked from Madame Morrible to the hot air balloon. The words 'Omaha State Fair' were painted on the side attached to a tiny basket.

As it gets closer, they hear the tinkling of a music box.

The hot air balloon floated in front of Elphaba, and a green letter popped out with 'For Miss Elphaba Thropp' written on it.

"It's yours, open it!" Madame Morrible encouraged.

Elphaba opened the letter, and read it out loud.

"His Royal Ozness, the wonderful Wizard of Oz, summons you most ceremony-ishly to his personal Palace in the Emerald City."

Everyone cheered for Elphaba, while she squinted her eyes to read the fine print.

"Wait, This invitation is non-transferable."

Everyone laughed, Elphaba hugged Madame Morrible with joy. She then went to hug (Name) and then Galindo, both of them filled with so much joy for their best friend.

This news ripples through the Students, including Pfannee and ShenShen.

"This is your chance! To make good." Madame Morrible told Elphaba. "Of course, you'll have to prove yourself first."

"Prove myself?" Elphaba asked.

"Prove yourself worthy." Madame Morrible clarified. "Dearie, this is the Wizard of Oz! If he's going to grant your heart's desire-"

"But prove myself how? I...I'm not ready. It's too soon."

"Don't be so pessi-mystical. You'll find a way." Madame Morrible assured. "I have faith in you."

As Elphaba takes this in, in started to rain.

Students began to panic and pull out their umbrellas or cover their heads with their books.

Galindo took his pink jacket off and covered himself and (Name) over their heads with it, shielding them from the rain

"Not to threat, weather is my specialty!" Madame Morrible assured as she took out an umbrella and held it over Elphaba's head.

"Mustn't let you get wet!"

Elphaba and Madame Morrible shared a smile, then Morrible made a few bold, sorceress-y gestures, and the rain stopped instantly.

"Not when you're on the cusp of greatness!"

Elphaba smiled at Madame Morrible and the Students erupted into cheers.

At the train station tons of Students were gathered to wish Elphaba goodbye, including Galindo and (Name).

Elphaba, in stylish black travel garb, was being fussed over by Galindo.

"Now, you're sure you have everything?" Galindo asked her.

But Elphaba didn't respond.

"Elphie!"

"I can't believe it." Elphaba said in shock, staring past Galindo.

(Name) and Galindo followed her gaze to see Nessa with Governor Thropp coming towards them.

"Look who's come to see you off!" Nessa grinned.

"Father! I—I never dreamed—" Elphaba exclaimed in shock and excitement, before seeing Dulcibear.

"And Dulcibear! How are you?"

Dulcibear started to reply, before giving Elphaba a bear hug instead.

"Wait, Dulcibear?!" (Name) rushed over to Dulcibear and gave her a tight bear hug.

"It's so good to see you! I've missed you so much!" She beamed.

Dulcibear smiled and hugged (Name) back just as tightly, she had always adored the (hair color) girl.

Just then, Madame Morrible joined them, breathless.

"Governor Thropp! You received my message! So good of you to come!" She grinned.

"Of course! I treasure every chance to see my dear daughter." Governor Thropp smiled as he placed a hand on Nessa's shoulder.

He kissed Nessa on the cheek, making (Name) roll her eyes at how he completely ignored Elphaba.

"And such an honor, that your other daughter be welcomed by the Wizard." Madame Morrible added, placing a hand on Elphaba's shoulder.

"Yes, let's just hope she makes a good impression." Governor Thropp stated.

This lands hard on an already nervous Elphaba as she stared at her father.

"I'm sure she will." Galindo smiled, coming to Elphaba's side.

"We know she will." (Name) added, giving Governor Thropp a menacing smile.

If looks could kill, Governor Thropp would be burning in hell right now.

"Elphaba!"

Suddenly, Elphaba is engulfed by a group of Students, showering her with hugs and good wishes.

Boq appeared from this crowd, Nessa brightened.

"There you are! Father, this is Boq, the boy I wrote to you about!"

"What? Oh, yes, Governor Thropp, good to meet you!" Boq nervously smiled as he shook Governor Thropp's hand.

"I've heard so much about you. My Nessarose is very precious to me." Governor Thropp smiled. "You'd better take good care of her."

Boq's collar suddenly felt tighter. He gulped back backed away

"I-I understand. Well, I should uh," Boq turned to Galindo. "May I speak with you? Privishly?"

Before he could answer, Boq pulled him aside. Elphaba, (Name), and Nessa, startled, watched as Boq moved off, with Galindo.

Boq continued quietly, with deep emotion, said to Galindo; "That day. When you asked me to ask Nessa out, you said I'd be you and (Name)'s hero. That I'd be (Name)'s hero. You gave me hope!"

Galindo stared at him. "But...I give everyone hope."

Overcome, Boq bolted away.

"Boq!" Nessa called after her boyfriend.

She moved to Galindo, upset. "What did you say to him?"

Galindo was tongue tied, (Name) took his hand assuringly.

"I'll find him." Elphaba assured, seeing her sister's distress.

Elphaba rushed after Boq. Galindo, twinged with guilt, kneels to face Nessa, trying to repair this.

"Nessa..."

Nessa, upset, turned away from him. Galindo spotted Avaric, a Munchkin boy, glancing over at Nessa and stepping toward her direction.

"There are other boys. Who you may not have noticed. Who've noticed you." Galindo stated.

"But...they're not Boq." Nessa looked down.

Elphaba saw Boq sitting at the side of the platform, she sat down next to him. "Boq...?"

He turned to her, in tears. It made her want to cry.

"Oh, Boq."

"I still have hope." He told her.

Elphaba shook her head. "You shouldn't."

"You don't know that! Your dreams are coming true, why not mine?!" Boq yelled.

"Why can't you just love my sister?" Elphaba blurted.

"Because I can't!" Boq returned. "You think I like seeing Nessa hurt? I hate hurting anyone, but I can't just change my feelings. Could you changes yours, for Fiyero?"

"What?!" Elphaba exclaimed. "I-I have no feelings for Fiyero!"

Boq looked at her, suddenly alarmingly calm.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I misunderstood. I thought we were being honest."

Before Elphaba could respond, he walked away.

Elphaba sat there for a moment, but then heard the sound of the train approaching and stood to her feet.

The Students all watched in awe as a giant green train with gold wheels stopped at the platform.

"All aboard to the emerald city!" The Train Conductor announced.

"Elphie!" Galindo and (Name) ran over to Elphaba.

"Where's Nessa?" She asked.

"She left with your father. She said to wish you safe travels." Galindo answered.

"She'll be fine, Elphie. She'll have to manage without you. We all will." (Name) assured, noticing Elphaba's concern.

"Oh, you'll barely notice I'm gone. You have each other! And Fiyero!" Elphaba smiled.

"Where is he, anyway? Not that I expected him to say goodbye to me. I mean, we barely know each other."

"We barely know him either, anymore! He's...different. Distant and...modified." Galindo explained.

"And he's been thinking. Which really worries me." (Name) added.

Elphaba was trying to absorb all this as Galindo continued.

"It all started that day Doctor Dillamond was fired. I never knew he cared so much about that old goat."

(Name)'s eyes lit up when she saw Fiyero, a poppy in his lapel.

"Oh, there he is! He did come! Fiyero! We're over here!" (Name) waved her hand to Fiyero, and he approached his friends.

"Elphaba." Fiyero smiled.

"Fiyero." The green woman nodded.

"I'm happy for you."

"Thank you."

"Yes, we are all happy for you!" Galindo smiled as he took (Name)'s arm.

"I've been thinking." Fiyero said, ignoring Galindo.

"Yes, I've heard." Elphaba nodded.

"About Dillamond. And that Lion Cub. I think about that day a lot."

Elphaba nodded. "So do I."

(Name) glanced between Elphaba and Fiyero, and smirked knowingly.

"Oh, me too! I think about it constantly." Galindo agreed as he took (Name)'s hand.

"Poor Doctor Dillamond, it makes one want to...take a stand." Galindo's eyes lit up as he thought of an idea.

"In fact, attention! Everyone!" Galindo clapped his hands and signaled the group of chatting students. "Please! I have an announcement!"

The Students went silent and approached Galindo, eager to hear what he had to say. Pfanne and ShenShen rush to the front.

"I...am changing my name." Galindo revealed, making the Students gasp.

"Your name?" (Name) asked.

"Yes." Galindo toss-tossed his hair.

"Are you sure?" Elphaba questioned.

"Yes." Galindo tossed his hair again.

"Since Doctor Dillamond had his own, Goat-like way of pronouncifying my name—in solidarity, and to express my...uh...outrage."

(Name), Elphaba, and Fiyero watched him in amazement as Galindo continues loudly, in a desperate bid for (Name)'s attention.

"I will henceforward no longer be known as 'Ga-lindo'...but as simply...'Glindo.'"

(Name) smiled proudly while Elphaba and Fiyero smiled at each other.

The Students applauded for Glindo, ShenShen and Pfanne the loudest.

"He's so good!" ShenShen praised.

"He so is!" Pfanne agreed.

Glindo gave an elaborate bow, then turned to (Name) with a smile. He winked at her, making her chuckle as she approached her boyfriend and shared a quick kiss with him.

Fiyero then turned to Elphaba and handed her the poppy that was in his lapel.

"Good luck." He nodded before walking away

Galindo and (Name) approached Elphaba with their hands intertwined.

"Where is he going?" Glindo asked her.

Elphaba smiled assuringly. "Don't worry about it, Galindo—"

"It's Glindo now!" He reminded. "Stupid idea, I don't know what made me do it!"

"Honey, it's okay." (Name) took Glindo's hands. "It doesn't matter what your name is, I still love you."

Glindo relaxed at that, and smiled at her.

Suddenly, the train whistled.

"All aboard for the Emerald City!" The Train Conductor announced.

"The mustached man." Glindo whispered. "Come on, you'll miss your train!"

He brought Elphaba over to the applauding and cheering Students. They all cleared a path for her so she could enter the train, making Elphaba smile.

As Elphaba stepped on board, she waved goodbye to everyone with a big grin.

Elphaba then spotted Glindo and (Name) and put a hand to her forehead and wiggled her fingers with a smile.

(Name) and Glindo smiled sadly and did the same gesture.

As the train began to slowly take off, the Students cheered louder.

Then, (Name) remembered something. "Glindo, the letter!"

Glindo gasped and took her hand and squeezed through the crowd.

Glindo pulled something out of his pocket and rushed up to Elphaba with (Name).

"Wait! Elphie! Here!" He handed it to Elphaba, and the couple stopped running.

"Bye!" Glindo waved to her.

"We'll miss you!" (Name) smiled sadly.

Elphaba look at her friends then to what Glindo handed her. She realized it was a guidebook of the Emerald City.

Elphaba opened it and saw that Glindo and (Name) had wrote a message for her.

"We hope he grants your heart's desire."

Galindo ♡
(Name) ♡

Elphaba closed the book, visibly touched. An idea came to mind.

She leaned her head out. "Come with me!"

"What?!" Glindo and (Name) exclaimed.

"To meet the Wizard!" Elphaba answered.

"What are you saying?!" Glindo yelled as he rushed after the train with (Name).

"Get on the train, you're going to miss it!" Elphaba laughed.

"We don't want to impose!" (Name) insisted.

"It doesn't matter! Come with me!" Elphaba encouraged as she held her green hand out to the couple.

"We couldn't possibly! This is your moment!" (Name) yelled.

"I'm coming!" Glindo grabbed Elphaba's hand.

(Name) sighed and grabbed Glindo's other hand, and Elphaba pulled the couple onto the train.

The friends toppled over, breathless and laughing. (Name), who had fell into Glindo's chest, snuggled closer with a laugh as he held her closer.

And with that, the train sped off. To the Emerald City.

Glindo took (Name)'s hand and brought her to her feet while Elphaba grabbed her hat and stood up.

The three friends looked around and took in the passenger car in awe.

There were couches and tables set up.

Elphaba and Glindo sat down together on one couch, but it only had room for two seats.

So, Glindo took (Name) by her waist and gently positioned her on his lap, making her smile and cross her legs.

A Staff Member then approached the three and offered them snacks, which all of them happily took.

For the next few hours, the trio explored the passenger car and everything it had to offer.

Elphaba pressed a button on the middle of the table, making a compartment of drinks and glasses rise up.

Glindo and (Name) gasped and each took a drink. They clinked their glasses together and took a sip.

~🍸~

While Elphaba looked out the window, Glindo danced around the train with (Name) and pulled out two guidebooks for the Emerald City, waving them in the air.

The trio huddled together on the couch as Elphaba read the handbook out loud to the couple.

Glindo and (Name) were fast asleep, snuggling together with smiles on their faces.

Elphaba sat on the other side of the couch as she read the Emerald City guidebook.

~📖~

Elphaba was asleep with her hat covering her face. (Name) was still asleep and leaning her head on Glindo's shoulder as he read the guidebook.

Glindo looked up and eagerly woke up the girls as he pointed out the window.

Elphaba and (Name) woke up confused then looked out the window. Their eyes widened when they realized...

They had arrived in the Emerald City!

"One short day."
"If you only have, if you only have one short day."

All of them gazed out the window, marveling at the city, off in the distance, carved out of giant mounds of emeralds.

"One short day in the Emerald City."

The train stopped at the station and the three rushed out of the train to be greeted by Ozian train workers.

"One short day in the Emerald City."

The Workers handed Elphaba her hat, and she put it on her hat with a grin. She then ran after Glindo and (Name) down the train's stairs.

"One short day, one short day, one short day, one short day!"

The three stopped and gazed up at the beautiful city in awe.

"In the Emerald City!"
"Emerald City!"

An array of well-dressed Ozians in green bustle about merrily.

"One short day in the Emerald City!"
"One short day full of so much to do!"

Ozians danced around and a paper girl delivered newspapers.

"Every way that you look in this city,"
"There's something exquisite you'll want to visit,"
"Before the day's through!"

Ozians threw balloons in the air, all of them popped, sending glitter and confetti down on Elphaba, Glindo, and (Name).

Elphaba looked up in awe. "There are buildings tall as Quoxwood trees!"

"Dress salons!" Glindo added as they stood in front of a salon.

"And libraries!" (Name) shook Glindo's arm as they stood in front of a large library.

Glindo looked at a beautiful snow globe of the Emerald City.

"Palaces!"

Elphaba looked at a stand with postcards.

"Museums!"

Elphaba spun it around.

All:
"A hundred strong!"
"There are wonders likе I've never seen!"

The trio rushed over to a staircase where Ozians danced around.

Glindo:
"It's all grand!"

Elphaba:
"And it's all green!"

All:
"I think wе've found the place where we belong!"
"I wanna be in this hoi polloi!"

Glindo and (Name) linked arms and skipped over to another area with Elphaba.

They arrived at the heart of the city. It pulsed with life.The shops glitter, the people sparkle. Crazy rich Ozians strolled by.

And everywhere the friends look, they're seeing: successful women, artists, entrepreneurs, mothers.

Here, you can be respected for who you are, or who you want to be.

Elphaba:
"So I'll be back for good someday!"

(Name):
"To make my life and make my way!"

All:
"But for today, we'll wander and enjoy!"

The three noticed a beauty salon, the sign in the window reads; 'Off to see the Wizard? See us first!'

Glindo looked at Elphaba and (Name), Elphaba started to back away but Glindo dragged her inside.

"One short day in the Emerald City!"
"One short day to have a lifetime of fun!"
"One short day!"

Using outlandish (and humorous) Ozian beauty treatments, Human and Animal Beauticians performed a makeover on the friends.

The three friends spun around in their chairs as their nails were being done, reaching out their hands for the hummingbirds.

"And we're warning the city,"
"Now that we're in here,"
"You'll know we've been here."
"Before we are done!"

"Presenting the absolute factual story of our wonderful Wizard of Oz!"

"Starring the Emerald City players!"

The three stood at the front of a mini-stage for the Wizomania.

The curtains opened and a Man wearing a green suit stood in the middle of the stage while dancers danced behind him. 

"Long, long ago, long before we can recall,"
"There lived here in Oz the magical wise ones."

"Ah, ahh, ahh, the magical wise ones."

The Presenter stood aside and fog appeared from behind the stage.

"The wisest of them all."

The dancers made room for two mysterious figures that emerged from out of the fog.

"Ahhh, ahh, ahh."

The figures were Two Wise Women who wore beautiful gowns. One woman had curly brown hair while the other woman had blonde hair tied up high. Both of them held a glowing scepter in their hands.

Elphaba, Glindo, and (Name) clapped enthusiastically with the rest of the crowd.

Brunette Singer:
"We will not live forever."
"That, I can foresee."

The Brunette singer walked to the front of the stage.

Blonde Singer:
"So let us set all of our magic."

The Blonde Singer skipped around and twirled her wand around.

Brunette Singer:
"In a strange and secret language."

Both:
"In a book."

The two singers pointed their wands at a Dancer holding a large book.

Blonde Singer & Choir:
"The Grimmerie!"

Brunette Singer & Choir:
"The Grimmerie!"

When the Blonde Singer's wand went out, she smacked it with her hand before tapping it with the Brunette Singer's wand, making it light back up.

Presenter:
"But time ticked ever onward day by day,"

The stage went to a dark purple.

"Oh~"

"And all those who could read it passed away."

The stage beneath the Wise Women fell and they acted like they were dying. 

"Oh~"

"'Til one day, no one could."
"But the wise ones left a prophecy,"

The Wise Women's heads popped their heads out with a smirk, making the audience cheer.

The Wise Women' stage returned and they continued with their performance.

Brunette Singer:
"In Oz's darkest hour."
"Though we cannot say when."

Blonde Singer:
"There will come one with the power to read the Grimmerie again."

The Blonde Singer cut in front of the Brunette, much to her annoyance.

Brunette Singer:
"And Oz, which had been sad and blah."

Blonde Singer & Choir:
"Once more will sing a joyous."

The Brunette Singer threw her arms out, right onto the Blonde singer.

"Ahh, ahh, ahh, ahhh~!"

"Look! Up there!" The Presenter pointed up to the top of the fountain, it opened up and a small red hot air balloon appeared.

"A man in a balloon arriving from the sky!"
"Maybe he is here to fulfill the prophecy!"
"But can he read the Grimmerie?"

The Wizomania Choir danced around.

"This man who comes out of the blue."
"Is he the prophecy?"

"There's one way we'll know if it's true."

"Fetch the Grimmerie."
"The Grimmerie!"

A giant projection of the Wizard appeared over the fountain, his hat covering his face.

"Omaha. Omaha."

"He can read it!" A woman exclaimed. "He must be...a Wizard!"

The audience gasped and applauded.

The Two Wise Women walked through the crowd.

Brunette Singer:
"The prophecy fulfilled."

The Brunette stroked a woman in a wheelchair's cheek.

Blonde Singer:
"What merriness he'll bring."

The Wise Women then approached Elphaba, Glindo, and (Name).

"Now every Ozian raise a voice and sing!"

The Brunette caressed Elphaba's face and adjusted her hat while the Blonde stroked Glindo's cheek and brushed some hair out of (Name)'s face.

"And sing, and sing!"

Glindo vocalized, only for the Blonde to cover his mouth with her hand and turn him towards a dancer.

"Who's the mage whose major,"
"Itinerary is making all Oz merrier?"

The Blonde held onto a Dancer's waist and Glindo hanged onto the Blonde's waist, all of them standing in a line.

Brunette Singer:
"Who's the sage who sagely,"

The Brunette turned Elphaba over to a dancer, and she did his dance with a grin.

"Sailed in to save our posteriors?"

The Wise Women then approached (Name), the Blonde spun her around and the Brunette did a dance, (Name) began to follow her moves and danced with the Wise Women with a grin.

The Wise Women smiled and both of them kissed one of her cheeks, making (Name) giggle.

"Whose enthuse for hot-air ballooning,"
"Has all of Oz honeymooning?"
"Ooh, isn't he wonderful?"
"Our wonderful Wizard!"

Dancers and Performers danced freely all around the City.
Men splashed in the fountains and threw glitter into the air.

"One short day in the Emerald City!"

"Who's the mage whose major, Itinerary is making all Oz merrier?"

"One short day!"

"Who's the sage who sagely sailed in to save our posteriors?"

"To have a lifetime of fun!"

"What a to be seeing the city!"

Elphaba, Glindo, and (Name) headed for the Wizard's Palace up ahead, (Name) and Glindo had their arms linked.

"Where so many roam to!"
"We'll call it home too!"

Elphaba stepped forward and held her invitation with pride.

"And then, just like now, we can say..."
"We're just good friends."

Elphaba turned to Glindo and (Name) with a grin.

"Three good friends."

Glindo and (Name) smiled in return.

"Three best friends."

Glindo took (Name)'s hands and kissed them.

"And two lovers."

(Name) smiled and shared a kiss with Glindo, making Elphaba smile.

Glindo and (Name) linked arms and ran up the stairs with Elphaba where a strict-looking Soldier guarded the door.

"Sharing one wonderful,"
"One short..."

Elphaba handed the Soldier her letter, and he read it. He turned to a guard in front of the gate and showed it to him.

The Gate Guard's face lit up. "The Wizard will see you now!"

Elphaba, Glindo, and (Name) beamed at each other. The trio ran through the open gate as confetti shot.

"Day!"

Finally, they were going to meet The Wizard!

Oh my goodness was this a longer chapter 😭

But it was all worth it just to write the scene with Kristin and Idina 🥹

I literally freaked out in the theater when I saw them!!
