Unwanted Reunion
Night:
I am left alone, my escorts leaving to get the next "hero." Sitting beside me is a considerably younger girl, guessing around twelve. Her blue, mischief filled eyes look curiously at Moon. Her outrageous outfit making her unforgettable. She works a flashy pink hello kitty shirt with a deep purple mini shirt, under it is dull, grey sweatpants and festive Christmas socks with passionate red sandals.
"She is definitely bold," says Moon within my mind.
"Thanks," replies the girl. "Are you surprised? I'm a Physic." We stare dumbfounded at the intruder, knowing know that any privacy we once had is gone. She would always be there to overhear.
"Stay out of my head," I growl threateningly.
"Hey, no harm done!" she grins.
"Yes, but intruding on someone's thoughts is an evasion of privacy," Moon points out.
"We're a team so it shouldn't matter, it's not like we're enemies," she said, not missing a beat.
"Well, I don't trust you," I scoff bluntly.
"That's a shame cause I trust you!" the girl exclaims, flopping on my lap. Instinctively, I leap to my feet, sending her tumbling to the floor with a thud. A pained 'ouch' following shortly after. I glare at her with narrowed eyes, not understanding her carefree attitude. How could she trust someone so quickly? Exposing herself like that! A fatal blow could of killed her easily. She's such a child.
"I'm almost a teen," she defends, simply grinning, clearly pleased with herself.
"Stay out of my head!" I order. This sends her into a laughing fit. Her recklessness must be contagious, because even Moon as broken into a smile. I feel the corner of my mouth twitch into a grin. "Idiots!"
"But your smiling!" she yells. Launching herself at me, she screams: "Give me a piggy back ride peasant!"
As my escorts walk in, an unknown figure following them, are greeted with the sight of my wrestling match with the girl. Julie can't help but laugh at the odd sight. Mary simply turns away, not letting us see her smile. It is as if time has stopped as my eyes lock with the strangers. It is no stranger, but an enemy of the past. Also the source of all my rage. Moon growling form shows that she too remembers that summer with him. He also looks stunned, surprise shifting to shame. Though no one would see this, only his facade that he wears so well.
"Shane...?" I ask, compressed rage bubbling to the surface.
"It's been a long time, Night."
"Moon,"
"I know, Night,"
I feel the weapon materializing in my hand, sharp and sleek, my Mist Sword. The weapon that was given to me by Moon. I clutch the silvery blue sword, tensing for only a moment. I shot like a rocket, aimed at his chest. His death is now. Shane jumps from my destructive path, barely missing a fatal blow. I swipe, missing a inch every time, Moon snapping at his heels. Julie awakening from her shocked daze, grabs me from behind before I can do any damage. She pulls my failing body away from my revenge kill. I give Mary a disgusted look as she rushes to his side. Something that I would of done long ago. Her soften look in her brown eye almost makes me vomit. Realizing I have lost my opportunity to end him has passed, my sword evaporates.
"What are you doing?" Mary demands. I answer her question with a furious glare. I almost had him. If she hadn't stopped me he would be dead! He would of got what he deserved! "Maggot get this through your head! We're teammates and teammates don't kill each other!"
"He will never be my teammate!" I snarl.
