RIVALS

16 Years Later

Y/n groggily rubbed her eyes as the sun's rays began flooding her room, signaling the start of a brand-new day. Stretching out like a cat, she carefully maneuvered her way out of bed and headed downstairs to the kitchen.

As she made her way downstairs, the delicious scent of breakfast filled the air. Y/n's mother, Mrs. Jung, was already in the kitchen, flipping pancakes on the stove. Y/n's stomach growled in anticipation as she approached her.

Y/n- Good morning, Mom!

She greeted with a wide grin.

Y/n- Those pancakes smell amazing.

Her mother turned around and patted Y/n's cheek lovingly.

Y/m- Morning, my love. Breakfast will be ready in a few minutes. Sit down, make yourself comfortable.

Hoseok- Morning, sleepyhead!

Hoseok cheerfully exclaimed, poking his head out from behind the kitchen counter. Clad in his favorite pajamas, he looked like he had just stepped out of a magazine photoshoot for chilled-out mornings.

Y/n grinned, her eyes still heavy with sleep.

Y/n- Morning, superstar. Trying to impress the world with your culinary skills?

She teased, her voice dripping with sarcasm. He feigned shock, placing one hand over his heart.

Hoseok- Impress the world? Nah, just trying to impress you, sis. Because you know, elder brother goals.

He replied, winking mischievously at her. Rolling her eyes, Y/n made her way towards the coffee pot, pouring herself a steaming cup.

Y/n- Oh, please. As if you could ever impress me with anything

She shot back, taking a sip and relishing in the warmth that spread through her body. Hoseok dramatically clutched his chest, feigning hurt.

Hoseok- Ouch, that one hurt. I'll have you know that I've been practicing my cooking skills for weeks, just so I could make your taste buds explode with delight."

She chuckled, shaking her head.

Y/n- Explode, huh? I think I'd rather not risk it. Remember the last time you tried to cook us dinner? Let's just say it was a close call with the fire department.

He pouted, mock hurt still etched on his face.

Hoseok- Hey, it was just a small kitchen mishap. Okay, maybe it was a big mishap, but I'm a pro now. No more accidental kitchen fires, I promise.

Y/n raised an eyebrow, clearly not convinced.

Y/n-Alright, Mr. Pro-Chef. I'll believe it when I see it. But please, for the sake of our taste buds and our house, let's keep the cooking experiments to a minimum, okay?

Hoseok saluted playfully.

Hoseok- As you wish, Captain Y/n. No crazy experiments in the kitchen, I promise. But no guarantees on the banter. I've suffered too many sleepless nights, stockpiling quality comebacks just for you.

She laughed, her heart feeling warm at the sight of her brother's infectious grin.

Y/n- Well, I certainly wouldn't want to deprive you of the opportunity to shower me with your witty remarks. It's what big brothers are for, after all.

She sat down at the dining table, watching her father, Mr. Jung, enter the room with a newspaper in his hand. He sat down next to Y/n, ruffling her hair gently.

Y/f- How did you sleep, kiddo?

She shrugged, a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.

Y/n- Fine, I guess. But I had the craziest dream last night. I was flying on a giant marshmallow.

Her father chuckled heartily, his eyes crinkling with joy.

Y/f- Sounds like quite an adventure. Maybe you'll have another exciting dream tonight.

Y/n- Maybe, who knows.

                                                                  [Kim's Mansion]

As the sun rose, Taehyung emerged from his room with a grin on his face. He made his way to the kitchen, where his mother was preparing breakfast. With a mischievous glint in his eye, he snuck a pinch of salt into the sugar bowl.

Taehyung- Good morning, Mom.

He said innocently, stifling a laugh.

His mother poured sugar into her coffee and took a sip. Her face twisted in confusion as she tasted the unusual combination of salty sweetness.

Taehyung burst out laughing, and his mother playfully swatted at him with a dish towel.

T/mom- Oh, you rascal! Who will say you are 25.

She exclaimed.

Taehyung- Come 'on Mom, chill.

He said and ran out of kitchen as his mother watched him in disbelief.

Taehyung was sitting at the dining table having his breakfast when Jin approached him.

Jin- Hey Tae, why did the scarecrow win an award?

He asked, a mischievous grin playing on his lips. Taehyung, never one to back down, replied with a smirk.

Taehyung- I don't know, why did the scarecrow win an award?

Jin- Because he was outstanding in his field.

He burst into laughter, proud of his joke. Taehyung rolled his eyes dramatically.

Taehyung- Oh, Hyung, you must be so proud of yourself for that one. I wonder how Irene noona tolerate your jokes.

Jin- What do you mean you little alien.

Taehyung just laughed at him as he rolled his eyes.

Jin- Come to office on time okay, don't be late like always.

He said as Taehyung nodded his head his mouth stuffed with food. Jin was about to go but his wife interrupted him

Irene- Wait, I'll walk you to the door.

They walked hand in hand from the living room to the front door, their footsteps echoing through the quiet house. Jin turned to face Irene, his heart brimming with affection.

Jin- I wish I could stay here with you.

He said, his voice filled with longing. Irene smiled softly, her gaze filled with understanding.

Irene- I know, but this is just another morning apart, Jin. We'll see each other later, and I'll be waiting for you.

With one final kiss, Jin buttoned his jacket, ready to face the day ahead. He waved goodbye to Irene and stepped out into the morning light, feeling a renewed sense of purpose.

Taehyung burst into laughter as he watched Irene cuddling up to his brother. As she came inside he couldn't resist teasing his sister-in-law, knowing how much she despised public displays of affection.

Irene- Come on, Taehyung!

She replied, her tone feigning annoyance. Taehyung chuckled, knowing he had hit a nerve.

Taehyung- Oh, I see how it is. Hyung has turned you into a cuddle monster, hasn't he?

She shook her head, her playful expression turning into a smile.

Irene- You're just jealous, Taehyung. Admit it.

He scoffed, crossing his arms over his chest.

Taehyung- Me? Jealous? Please, I'm perfectly happy being single and free.

Taehyung's grandfather, a sprightly man with a twinkle in his eyes, entered the room with an air of excitement.

G/kim- Guess what, everyone?

He exclaimed, a mischievous grin spreading across his face.

G/kim- We're leaving for our farmhouse tomorrow, so pack your bags .

Taehyung- Why? I mean so suddenly.

Y/n- It's Y/n's birthday in 2 days, and this time I want her to celebrate at our farmhouse.

Taehyung- But Grandpa...

G/kim- No buts.

Taehyung- Okay.

He said groggily and looked down feeling frustrated.

Taehyung- See you soon little monkey.

He mumbled to himself.

------------------------------

Y/n and Taehyung had been childhood enemies for as long as they could remember. From the moment they met, they seemed to be constantly at odds with each other. Their bickering was legendary, and their friends often found themselves caught in the crossfire of their silly arguments.

It all started with a simple disagreement over a toy truck. Y/n had claimed it was hers, while Taehyung insisted it belonged to him. The dispute quickly escalated into a full-blown argument, with both of them refusing to back down. From that day forward, they became sworn enemies, always finding new reasons to argue and compete against each other.

Their rivalry continued throughout their school years, with Y/n and Taehyung constantly trying to outdo one another. Whether it was in academics, sports, or even who had the coolest lunchbox, they were always in competition.
