FIRST NIGHT
{10}
As Taehyung and Y/n arrived at the Kim household, the tension in the air was palpable. The Kims led the newlyweds into the living room, adorned with family portraits and cherished memories. Y/n couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness, realizing her own family was absent from this picture-perfect tableau.
As they settled onto the couch, Taehyung's father, cleared his throat to break the silence.
T/f- Y/n, Taehyung, we understand that this marriage was not by choice for either of you.
He began, his voice laced with empathy.
T/f- But we hope that, in time, you will find something unexpected about each other. Something that will bring you closer together.
Y/n looked up at Mr. Kim, her eyes filled with nervousness.
Y/n- Thank you, uncle.
She said quietly. Taehyung's mother embraced Y/n tightly, tears of joy cascading down her cheeks.
T/m- Welcome to our family, my dear, I couldn't imagine a better partner for my son.
She whispered, her voice filled with genuine emotion
T/m- We're here to support both of you and help you build a strong foundation for your future together.
Y/n- A strong foundation? More like a never-ending war zone.
She muttered under her breath. Mrs. Kim overheard her comment, and her eyes twinkled mischievously.
T/m- Well, a little healthy competition never hurt anyone. You two will make a perfect team in no time, mark my words.
Taehyung couldn't help but smirk at his mother's comment. He looked at Y/n, suppressing a chuckle, and said,
Taehyung- Looks like my parents have high hopes for us, Y/n. Let's not disappoint them, shall we?
Y/n rolled her eyes and responded with a sarcastic tone,
Y/n- Oh yes, Taehyung. Let's win the 'Married Couple from Hell' award together.
Despite themselves, Taehyung's parents burst into laughter. This lighthearted moment seemed to break down the walls between Taehyung and Y/n just a little bit.
-----------------------------
Taehyung and Y/n stood at the foot of the bed, glowering at one another, fueling the tension that simmered throughout the room. Taehyung stared at the bed, a determined glint in his eyes.
Taehyung- There's no way I'm sleeping on the floor tonight.
He declared firmly. Y/n crossed her arms, matching his defiant gaze.
Y/n- Well, I'm not giving up the bed either. This is my room too, you know.
The two of them locked eyes, the tension in the air palatable.
Taehyung- You think you can just waltz in here and take whatever you want?
He scoffed, a wry smile tugging at the corner of his lips. Y/n's voice dripped with sarcasm.
Y/n- Oh, I'm sorry. Is this your room? Did they forget to tell me that when they assigned us this terrible arrangement?
His eyes narrowed, his patience wearing thin.
Taehyung- Listen, Y/n. We may be stuck in this situation, but that doesn't mean I'm going to roll over and let you walk all over me.
She tilted her head, a mischievous glint in her eye.
Y/n- Who said anything about walking all over you? I just want my fair share, Taehyung.
The room seemed to shrink as their argument intensified, each word becoming a dagger aimed at the other's pride. The air was thick with frustration, and it felt as if the walls were closing in on them.
Taehyung took a step closer to Y/n, their faces inches apart now.
Taehyung- Well, I've had enough of playing nice. I'm not backing down, Y/n.
She matched his intensity, refusing to back down.
Y/n- Good, because neither am I. If you think I'm just going to let you push me around, you're solely mistaken.
Their voices rose, the volume echoing through the room. Each word was laced with a mix of anger, defiance, and something else, something deeper and more complex than they were willing to admit.
Taehyung- I've had enough of your stubbornness, Y/n, You can't always have your way.
He declared, his voice dripping with condescension. Her eyes narrowed, her determination unwavering.
Y/n- And who are you to tell me what I can and cannot do, Taehyung?
Taehyung- No chance, little monkey. I'm not giving up the bed.
He said crossing his arms defiantly. She scoffed, rolling her eyes in exasperation.
Y/n- Seriously, you jerk? We're arguing about a bed? This is ridiculous.
His eyes narrowed, his playful smile replaced by a momentary seriousness.
Taehyung- It's not just a bed, Y/n. It's a symbol of dominance. If I let you take it, I'll never hear the end of it.
She couldn't help but laugh, unable to comprehend the absurdity of the situation.
Y/n- Dominance? Taehyung, we're not in a jungle. We're in our own house.
Taehyung- You always think you're right, don't you, Y/n?
He snapped, his voice holding a hint of bitterness.
Y/n- No, I just know when I deserve something.
She replied, annoyance evident in her voice.
The argument continued long into the night, with words exchanged like missiles in a battlefield. Accusations were thrown, tempers flared, and both were too stubborn to back down. The mere idea of compromise seemed impossible.
Y/n- Okay so this side is yours and that is mine. Also no one will cross this line.
She stated after finally coming to a conclusion. She took the pillows from the couch and kept them in the middle of the bed making a partition.
Taehyung- So childish!
Y/n- Really! Feel free to sleep on the floor then.
------------------------
Y/n woke up in a daze, her eyes slowly adjusting to the soft morning light that filtered through the curtain. As she rolled over, she found herself face to face with Taehyung, her newly wedded husband. A rush of memories flooded her mind - the ceremony, the vows, and the fact that Taehyung was her sworn enemy.
She sighed and sat up, rubbing her eyes. She couldn't believe she had to wake up to this new reality.
Taehyung, on the other hand, stretched lazily, a mischievous glint in his eyes. He had always enjoyed teasing her, even during their days as adversaries.
Taehyung- Good morning.
He greeted her with a smirk, clearly aware of the mixed emotions coursing through her. She groaned.
Y/n- Don't 'good morning' me, Taehyung. You know very well that I would rather be anywhere else but here.
He chuckled, relishing in his victory.
Taehyung- Oh come on, don't tell me you didn't enjoy our wedding. It was quite the spectacle, don't you think?
She rolled her eyes, throwing the blanket off her body.
Y/n- This marriage is a torture.
He raised an eyebrow, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
Taehyung- Oh, don't act like you didn't secretly plan this whole thing. I know you've always had a secret crush on me.
He teased. Her eyes widened in annoyance.
Y/n- Please, Taehyung. You couldn't be more wrong. The only thing I've ever felt for you is irritation.
He chuckled, his deep voice reverberating through the room.
Taehyung- Ah, that's cute. But let's not pretend that this marriage isn't a match made in heaven. We're just perfect for each other.
She rolled her eyes, unwilling to engage in Taehyung's teasing any longer. She swung her legs over the edge of the bed and stood up, determined to start her day.
----------------------
Walking into the room, Jin greeted them with a teasing smirk.
Jin- Good morning, lovebirds! Have you started planning world domination yet?
Taehyung rolled his eyes but couldn't hide the gleam of excitement in them.
Taehyung- We're taking it one step at a time, Hyung. But don't worry, you'll be the first to know when we conquer the world together.
He replied, earning himself a playful punch from Y/n. She shot a glare at Jin.
Y/n- Don't you have anything better to do than to sit around and mock us, Oppa?
Jin- shrugged nonchalantly.
Jin- Not really. Besides, it's not every day I get to witness the legendary enemies waking up as spouses! This is pure gold, guys.
Irene, who just entered the room burst out laughing.
Irene- I can't believe it myself! Wow, the universe has a wicked sense of humor.
Taehyung scowled, feeling his frustration mounting.
Taehyung- Could you both just stop laughing and teasing? This is not how we envisioned our first morning together.
As Irene continued to tease them, Jin suddenly stood up, his face serious as he said,
Jin- Alright, enough teasing for now. We better let the newlyweds get ready for the day before they rip each other apart.
---------------------
As Y/n made her way downstairs, the delicious aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled her nostrils, guiding her towards the kitchen. Y/n found Taehyung already seated at the breakfast table, a steaming cup of coffee in front of him. He looked up and gave her a small smile, which surprised her. If there was one thing Y/n didn't expect from this marriage, it was kindness from Taehyung.
Taehyung- Good morning, Y/n.
He greeted her politely, his voice void of any hostility.
Y/n- Good morning.
She replied cautiously, taking a seat across from him. She couldn't shake off the lingering tension between them, a deep-rooted animosity that had developed long before their forced marriage.
T/m- Good morning, Y/n. Did you sleep well?
Mrs. Kim's voice was cheerful as she glanced up from chopping vegetables.
Y/n mustered up a smile, trying her best to hide the uneasiness lingering in her heart.
Y/n- Yes, thank you. And thank you for having me here.
She looked around and spotted Grandpa watching from upstairs. She realized why Taehyung was being so polite to her.
Y/n- Idiot.
She muttered under her breath, slowly eating her breakfast. The day passed by as Y/n tried to adjust in her new home.
