International debut

Ishan chilled in his room, enjoying a break before the start of another domestic season. He was in Patna, spending time with his family and friends. Due to the restrictions, the players were given a break as the pandemic was still there.

Suddenly, his phone buzzed, breaking the silence. A message from BCCI flashed on his screen.

"Check the latest squad for the next series against England."

Ishan's heart skipped a beat. Was his dream coming true?

With trembling hands, he scrolled through the list. His eyes widened and joy overflowed as he saw his name. Ishan Kishan, selected for the Indian team.

His eyes sparkled, his hard work, dedication had finally paid off. He leapt out of the bed, screaming with excitement.

His parents rushed to his room, concern turning into curiousity as they saw his smile.

"Kya hua, beta?" His mother asked.

"Selection ho gaya. Indian ko represent karte dikunga abb." He replied, excitedly.

Overwhelmed with emotions, his mother tearfully wrapped her arms around him while his father just watched them with gratitude and pride.

"Sirf apna hi nhi, hamara bhi sapna poora kiya hain tumne!" His father exclaimed.

His eyes scanned the screen again and again, to make sure he hasn't misread anything. He rubbed his eyes and refreshed the chat, his heart racing in anticipation.

But the words remained, his name in bold letters.

His parents' phone buzzed nonstop, relatives and friends flooding them with congratulations. His father answered calls from old friends and cricket associates.

Their living room transformed into a celebration room, filled with tears of joy, laughter and pride.

As news spread, local media reached his house. "Ishan. About to make his international debut in cricket!" A reporter announced.

Ishan then dialed his teammate, Surya.

"Bhaiya, can't believe we made it! Ishan exclaimed.

Surya's laughter echoed through the line. "Haan, we did it!"

"We are going to rock this, our partnership will be unbelievable!"

"Bilkul! We have worked hard for years. Now, it's time to shine on the big platform." Surya replied.

Their conversation filled with memories and anticipation.

"What are your plans for the debut match?" Surya inquired.

"Going to win. Got my family behind me." Ishan replied.

"Well, same here! My family is crying out of joy and the media is going crazy." Surya said, a hint of amusement in his voice.

As they talked, their excitement grew. Their dream finally came true.

His phone then buzzed from an incoming text from Shubman, his best friend.

"Congratulations! You made it to team India. Now we have opening partner!"

Ishan grinned and returned back to the call with Surya.

"Bhaiya, sab congratulate kar rahe hain hame. Abhi text aaya shubman ka." Ishan said.

"Mujhe bhi aaya, aur aa rhe hain bahut sare. Chalo tab baad mein baat karte hain, abhi celebrate karte hain na family ke saath." Surya said and hung up, without waiting for Ishan's response.

Ishan then returned to the chat.

"Thank you meri jaan. You always believed in me." Ishan typed.

Shubman's reply came instantly.

"I knew it! Let's celebrate on your debut match. March 2021, right?"

Ishan grinned, feeling his excitement from the screen.

"Haan, abhi time hain filhaal. But we will celebrate wildly." Ishan promised.

Ishan then called Aditi, excited to share this wonderful news with her.

The call finally connected and Aditi's voice filled his ears.

"Hey, what's up?" Aditi asked, her tone relaxed.

"Gusse why I called?" He asked, trying hard to contain his excitement.

Aditi's laughter echoed. "Movie recommendation discuss karne?"

Ishan chuckled, creating suspense. "Something bigger!"

Aditi's curiosity piqued. "What is it?"

Ishan took a deep breath. "I made it, Aditi! I am selected for team India."

The line fell silent.

Then, Aditi's shriek burst into his ears. "Oh my God! Congratulations."

Ishan's heart swelled with joy.

"Mujhe pata tha wo waqt door nhi hain. I believed in your potential!" She exclaimed.

Ishan smiled. "Thanks! This is just the beginning."

His voice filled with excitement. "Remember your promise? You have to come to my debut match."

Aditi's laughter echoed through the line. "Yaad hain. I wouldn't miss it."

Ishan's heart swelled. "Thanks. I want ki tum aao."

"I'll be there," Aditi promised. "Cheering loudly."

Their conversation flowed, filled with shared happiness and anticipation.

"Match ke baad milne aaogi?" Ishan asked.

"Haan jaroor!" Aditi said, chuckling.

The debut match neared and Ishan started his intense training, each session pushing him to perfection.

His coaches analyzed opponent' strength and weakness.

"Focus on your footwork. Their bowlers will target your weakness."

Ishan's teammates, including Surya, shared valuable advice.

"Play your natural game." Surya encouraged.

Aditi's enthusiasm grew, she was so excited for Ishan's debut match.

Yash joined in her celebration, sharing well wishes.

"I'm so nervous! Ishan will do great, right?" Aditi asked.

He reassured her. "Definitely! He has worked hard."


One day before the match.

Ishan called Aditi, his voice filled with nervous energy.

"Tomorrow is the day! I'm ready and can't wait to see you in the stands."

"You've worked hard and yes I'll be there, cheering loudly."

The night before the match, both of them barely slept as they imagined the atmosphere.


14 March, 2021.

Ishan woke up early, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. He put on his jersey 32 and looked in the mirror.

"Finally!" he whispered, his eyes burning with determination.

The stadium buzzed with energy as fans came. The energy fueled Ishan's adrenaline.

As Aditi prepared to leave for the stadium, Yash approached her.

"Mumma papa ko toh nhi bataya hoga tumne?" He asked.

Aditi's expression turned sheepish.

"Uh, nhi. Unhe yeh bhi nhi pata hain ki Ishan aur main dost hain." She admitted.

Yash raised an eyebrow.

"Pata tha. They will freak out when they will find out you're going alone." Yash said.

Aditi bit her lip and glanced at the time, urgency creeping in as the match was about to start and she has to reach as soon as possible.

"Bhaiya, please, unhe bata dena aur convince kar dena. Main jaa rahi hoon." Aditi requested.

Yash sighed and said. "Bata doonga but please take care of yourself."

Aditi nodded and replied. "Haan. I'll call you once I reach."

"Just don't get too lost in the excitement and forget about mom and dad's worry." He teased.

She walked to the mirror to have a final look at her appearance. She looked gorgeous in the floral print dress and the light makeup enhancing her beauty.

As Aditi stepped into the taxi, her excitement was palpable. She rubbed her hands together, her eyes shining with anticipation.

The ride to the stadium was filled with her excitement growing with each passing mile.

As the taxi pulled up to the stadium, Aditi's heart skipped a beat. The massive structure and the crowd blocking the entrance made her eyes widened.

She leapt out of the taxi, joining the line. She got caught in the security checks.

As she entered the stadium, she heard a round of applause. Her heart sank, she had missed the debut celebration.

Ishan and Surya on the field, with their debut caps. She wished to witness this moment but she rushed to her seat, to not miss the match now.

As she settled in, she saw Ishan. Her heart swelled and a big smile spread across her face.

The first innings began, and Ishan walked onto the field. Aditi's heart swelled with pride.

"Come on!" she shouted.

The England bowler, began his run up.  Aditi's grip on the railing tightened as the first ball hurtled towards Ishan. He watched it closely, letting it go.

"Leave it alone!" Aditi whispered.

The next ball was shorter and Ishan pulled it for four!

The crowd erupted and Aditi jumped. "That's my Ishan!"

Virat Kohli, his batting partner, nodded in approval. Ishan's confidence grew with each over.

Suddenly, the energy in the stadium shifted as the crowd sensed something big was about to happen.

Aditi's eyes glued to Ishan's every move, her heart pounding. She had waited for this moment for a long time.

The bowler ran and Ishan watched the ball closely, focused.

The ball hurtled toward him and Ishan's bat swung, meeting with the ball. The crack echoed through the stadium as the ball sailed towards the boundary.

Four!

The stadium roared and Aditi leapt to her feet, smiling widely.

"50! On debut? YOU DID IT!" she screamed, her voice lost in the chaos.

Ishan raised his bat, a proud smile spreading across his face. Virat hugged him. "Proud of you!"

Aditi took out her phone from her bag, lost in the moment. She captured him on camera, saving the moment for herself.

During the crucial partnership,Ishan got out and everyone's heart sank but they were proud of him, on his debut 50!

Aditi gave a round of applause as Ishan walked off the field, disappointed but proud.

As she watched Ishan's success, Aditi also watched Surya shine on his debut. His batting proved crucial, showcasing shots that left England fielders stunned.

Aditi applauded, thrilled to see the two debutant shine and proving themselves. "Wow, Surya bhaiya is on fire!"

India secured the first win of the series against England. After shaking hands with the opposition team and wishing them luck for the next match, the players retreated to the dressing room.

Aditi smiled in hope and said to herself. "Let's go and meet Ishan! And I'll introduce myself to all the players as well."

She made her way to the dressing room, her heart still racing from the excitement. She had to see Ishan to congratulate him in person.
