day 15
The footsteps grow louder, and Jessie rushes to the closet, desperately closing it and curling up on the floor, and soon the door is kicked open.
There's a pause, and Jessie holds their breath. Soon the steps resume, before pausing again, seemingly right in front of the closet door.
Jessie tries not to gasp for air, not wanting to give away their (rather obvious, cliché) hiding spot.
The sound of a phone keyboard is the only thing that breaks the silence, and then the footsteps retreat.
Jessie breathes out faintly, waiting until the footsteps disappear down the stairs before risking an inhale.
Suddenly gasping, Jessie realises they've been crying.
A loud clattering startles them, before they pick up their phone, the screen lighting up to tell them it's on low battery. Jessie curses. They never got to charge it last night, probably because of the fact that they got fucking kidnapped, and now is not the time to worry about that.
Ignoring everything else, Jessie dials the police.
Their heart pounds, and the phone stays silent.
"No signal," they read in disbelief. "Even for emergency calls."
Assuming the stalker had some sort of device to block their phone of calls, they concede and open the text messages.
Even if they wanted to respond, they couldn't.
A heavy sigh leaves their lips as terrified tears stream down their cheeks.
What do you think? Will you play along?
