Ryker puts his feet onto the floor, the past week or so has been nothing but a blur. The bed shakes slightly as (Y/n) shifts in her sleep. He looks over at her and gives her a half-smile. The room is slowly filling up with sunlight.
He stands up and stretches, thinking about the fact that Ace and (Y/n) made up. It's good to see her have someone else. But he can feel something inside of him churning.
It's only a limited time. He can feel himself slipping further and further away. This isn't his life anymore. He doesn't want to live like this. But every time she smiles, the feeling subsides.
He closes the bedroom door behind him, letting her sleep in for a little while longer. He starts to brew some coffee, leaning against the counter and stifling his yawn.
His ears pick up the noise of the door opening, he sees her peak her head into the room, "Why didn't you wake me?"
"You got in a little late, I just wanted to make sure you felt rested," he gives her a smile, holding out the coffee mug in his hand. "Here, you can have this cup."
She shakes her head, "Thanks, but I'm fine. I'm gonna hop in the shower first."
"Oh," the corner of his mouth curves higher than the other side into a smirk, "Would you like me to join you?"
She stares at him, a her face completely expressionless, "No."
She closes the door again, hearing his laugh through the other side of the door. A smile creeps onto her face, she loves the sound of his laugh.
The shower felt nice on her body, she really needed the relaxation that the hot water brings. Once she's about to turn the water off, the door to the bathroom opens.
"Hey, (Y/n)," Ryker's voice comes through a small crack. "I just got called in, so I'll talk to you when we get home, okay?"
"Hold up!" She scrambles for her towel after she steps out of the shower before he yanks the door open and presses her lips against his. "Good luck. I love you."
He gives her a smile before kissing her forehead and leaving the house. Ace's door opens and Sabo exits, they both stare at each other. Ryker gives him a polite smile, taking the last step with stride.
"Just so we're clear," Sabo speaks up as Ryker passes him. "I don't trust you."
"Yeah?" the man stops and looks at Sabo. "Well, I don't blame you."
"If we're being completely honest here, I wouldn't trust me either," he pulls out a cigarette and lights it before walking away.
Sabo shakes his head, "At least he's honest. I guess he has that going for him. If nothing else."
