the game

I updated... two days in a row...? Whaaaaaaaaaa-
I'm done now... I hope you guys enjoy this... this is only part one... so I'll upload the rest of it... when I can... but I felt like this was a good stopping point for the night... so...

What do you think about Reader-chan's and Ace's relationship?
———————
The three of them join the crowd around Shanks. Completely interrupting Luffy and his thought process, making the question completely irrelevant. They all notice the bag in the red-haired man's hand and grow even more curious as to what its purpose is.
Shanks closes his eyes and smiles at the crowd, "Tomight, we're going to be playing seven minutes in heaven!"
"Is this a party for teenagers?" someone behind Ace mummers, but honestly, what did they expect? Their boss is literally a man-child who never grew out of his 'teenage' years.
"Who wants to start? Robin, will you do the honors?" the man holds the bag out to the black-haired female.
She just shrugs before she reaches a hand in and pulls out a black bandanna, automatically turning towards her green-haired friend, "Zoro, I believe this belongs to you... right?"
He stands up from his spot, leaning against the wall, and walks towards her grabbing the bandanna out of her hand, "Yep. That belongs to me, thanks."
"For what?" she giggles, enjoying the way he huffs out his sigh.
"Being gentle with it..." he says, each word getting quieter, making sure that literally no one else heard him. "I don't know."
She laughs again before she looks at Shanks, "So which closet are we using?"
The man just points in a direction and gives them a smile, "That one, thanks for being such good sports!"
"Well, if one of us die in there... you would be the one to blame... and our families could sue for money," she starts to walk off in the direction of the closet, only turning back to make sure that Zoro is following her. "So I'm not complaining."
Shanks purses his lips and stares after the two of them before he lets out a sigh, "Thanks for putting a damper on the game... also... how could you die in there! I expect you to answer me when you get back, Robin!"
He shanks his head before he looks at Nani, "Would you like to go next?"
"How much are you paying me?" she holds out her hand, he sighs again before he digs through his pocket and hands her some money. "Alright, I guess I'll go then."
She sticks her hand in the bag and digs around for a few seconds before she pulls out a gold lighter. Once she sees it, she drops to her knees dramatically, "Anybody but him!"
"Nami! That's hurtful!" Sanji falls to his knees as well before he inches closer to her and takes the lighter out of her hands.
She horridly gets up and glares at him, "If you touch me, I will take every cent you have. And then I'll sue you for sexual harassment. And then I'll sue this company for-"
"Alright, we get it Nami!" Shanks laughs as he grabs her shoulders and pushes in a different direction. "You two will go to that closet, over there. Thank you!"
Ace smiles to himself before Luffy raises his hand and waves around on the air, "Oh! Oh! Me next! Me next!"
Shanks looks at him before he bursts out laughing, "Luffy! You do know that only girls can draw an item, right? And I can't guarantee that the next girl to pick an item will draw out yours."
"Well, that's sexist," Luffy folds his arms and looks away.
"Not quite sure you're using that word in the correct way..." he mumbles before he looks at (Y/n) and smiles. "Will you do the wonderful honor of picking next, miss?"
"S-sure..." she brushes her (h/c)-hair out of her eyes before she walks up to him and puts her arm in the bag. She fishes around until she feels something smooth in some spots, but rigid in another. And slightly cold. When she pulls it out, it look familiar.
She turns to look at Ace and holds up his watch, "I guess that means... we're partners?"
"Oh, come on! That's so unfair!" Luffy cries out, lifting up his hands and letting them fall. "But... I guess I'm okay with it... since it's (Y/n)..."
"What do-" Shanks grabs both of their hands and drags them off before Ace could finish his question. The redhead leads them down a hallway and to a closet, "Alright, now remember, you guys have seven minutes. Do what you want."
He opens the closet door and pushes them inside before he starts another timer on his phone and walks away. The couple take a seat in the dark, cramped room, right across from each other. They sit in silence for what feels like eternity, but is more than likely just a minute.
"What's the one thing you regret the most?" his question catches her completely off guard, so she hums as a question. "Your greatest failure, what is it?"
"I wish... I had been a better sister," she swallows, not knowing if it's the darkness, or the fact that it's Ace asking the question, but she's not afraid of answering it, "And now... I'm afraid of disappointing the people I love... of never being enough."
"I constantly have to make those I love happy or I feel like I'm not a good person. That I'm not important anymore," she stares at the ceiling, though it's dark, she can still see the light fixture swinging slightly due to the draft blowing through the door. "My sister committed suicide... and ever since then, I can't ever stop myself from helping those in need. No matter how much I do... I feel like it's never enough. If only I had paid more attention... spent more time with her... seen the signs she was so clearly letting us have... them maybe things would've changed. If I had been a better sister... my niece would have a mother. What about you? What do you regret?"
"Honestly... there's so much... that I don't even know," he shuffles around, pulling his legs to his chest and resting his chin in between his knees. "I regret being born... I regret the family I was born into... I regret that my mother died before I was born... but I didn't have any control over that..."
"I hate how weak I am... I regret that I let my ex have so much control over me... and I hate that I still love her," he lets out a sigh, before he continues, "Even when she put me through so much... I have so much good memories of her... she was beautiful... and kind to me when we first met... but it was fake... and I regret that I didn't listen to all my friends when they told me about it. I so desperately wanted to be loved... that I accepted hers... her fake... illusion."
"I hate that I blame myself for her death, when it was an accident. I hate how... she got to die... and I'm stuck here. Still living," his voice shakes, but she can see his silhouette shake his head. "Mostly... I hate that I take my friends for granted... and the fact that I still feel like no one cares... even when I know for a fact that I have people who truly love me. So even if I regret being born... my biggest regret would have to be when I tried to kill myself... oh. My god, I'm sorry I-I don't know why I told you that. I don't want you to feel-"
"It's okay, I was wondering about that scare on your wrist," she moves next to him and takes his hand, running her finger over the wrist that usually has his watch on it.
"I didn't get that from that," he turns his head away from her, even if her can't see her features, he doesn't want to even see her shadow. "My ex gave it to me... she was physically and mentally abusive... so I... I think that's why I was so worried about you the first night you moved in..."
She nods, "Thanks... and I'm sorry I asked... so let's ask a different question... what do you consider to be the best thing that ever happened to you?"
"The best thing... that's ever happened..." he doesn't even have to think, he knows the answer as soon as the question processed. "Would have to have been on the night I tried to commit suicide..."
