the slip
With every good thing, something bad always seems to follow. Ace never felt like he could catch a break. It's something he's had to suffer with forever. (Y/n).
There was something about her that made his heart race. The reason, could be because he knows that she's the one who had saved his life. But then again, he shouldn't feel that way solely based on that... right?
Plus, she has a boyfriend. But just because she has a boyfriend, that doesn't mean he can't like her, right? Who even knows what kind of guy her guy is... well, she does.
His night was going well, so why did that man have to come in and ruin it? Why'd he take away his one sole happiness. A deep sigh escapes Ace's lips as he reaches into the darkness in front of him. Nothing.
He pulls back his arm, of course there wouldn't be anything out there. This is his room. He stares at the ceiling, any second it could collapse, but it won't. The air feels heavy, and it's hard to breathe in.
It's like trying to swallow as much water as he can so that he can breathe again, but he's deserted in the middle of the ocean. There's too much water, and he's drowning. Maybe he had put too much confidence in her.
All he is-all Ace is- is just some charity work that she felt bad for, "Fuck."
He stands up, he feels dizzy, it was probably too much alcohol. But he didn't drink. Maybe it's the lack of air he's getting. That had to be it. He stops and rests on the door frame. Why'd he care so much about her?
"Shit," he rubs his eyes before continuing on his path to the bathroom. This isn't happening again. He can't be doing this to himself again. It's too much trouble.
The last time this happened to him, he ended up in the hospital. He flicks the switch on, illuminating the small room. His eyes dart around the room, his hands going to the medicine cabinet. A jolt runs through his brain, causing him to drop the pill bottle in his hand.
One eye slowly opens while his hand picks up the bottle again. The cap pops open and makes a satisfying sound as it hits the counter. His fingers wrap around the knob, the sound of rushing water suddenly making him aware that his throat is dry.
The last time one of these spells happened... who was here for him? He grabs the cup sitting next to the sink and puts it under the faucet. Was it... Sabo? No, he was with Koala at the time in... somewhere. His eyes flutter close, the cup overflowing, the water rushing over his skin causing them to open again.
Could it have been Luffy? ...No. It was during and office party, he was with his friends. So who was here? He places the cup next to the sink again, his head pounding against his skull harder. His brain trying to break free, trying to tell him, nudge him in the right direction.
He pulls out a pill and stares at it. It's one he hasn't seen in forever, but he feels like it's never left his mind. He places it in his mouth, taking a swig of the water in the cup and swallowing, letting a deep sigh escape his lungs.
He takes a few steps back, hitting the wall with his back before sliding down it. His eyes close, somethings can't be changed. Memory, is one of them. He lets out a shaky breath. The person who was here for him the last time this happened... was the reason everything started.
It's happening again, he can't deal with it this time. He can't go through it all again. Another shaky breath leaves his lips, barely a breath anymore and more of a job. Feels something on his cheeks, so he reaches up.
It's warm. He pulls his hands away from his eyes. It's tears, "S-shit."
It's too late. No matter what he does now, it won't change a thing. He's crazy, he's wounded, everything hits him. He's tried so hard to block everything out, to make excuses and pretty little white lies. Anything to hide from the truth.
His heart yearns to be let free. To heal. It wants to be ripped to pieces, so it can start to heal. His mind wants to be at peace. It wants to let all of his memories come back. It hurts.
It's happening again. And this time, it will end the same as the last, "I-I'm... in love... again... fuck."
