the meeting

Luffy pops his head into Ace's space and gives him a big smile, "So, Christmas and New Year's are coming up! And that means... your birthday! What do you want?"
He shakes his head, "I don't want anything. This is everything that I could ask for. Just sign a paper making a pact that you'll never leave me becu-"
"We brothers! We've already drank from the cups and everything! If that isn't a pact that says I'll never leave you, then what is?" the younger male stares at Ace. "What's going on? Where did this come from all of a sudden...? Is this about Sabo?"
The freckled-man sighs out and shakes his head, "No, this-"
"Because he just left for college, you can call him anytime you want. I do it! He asks about you, why don't you call him? It'll make you feel better," Ace goes to say something, but he feels Luffy's arms wrap around him. "We're all worried about you, Ace. Sabo... he was thinking about coming back just to make sure you're doing okay. I told him you're doing fine and that he should stay there... don't make me a liar."
"Luffy... I'll call him at lunch," he feels Luffy's arms withdraw themselves and he lets out a sigh. "Thanks. I needed that."
Luffy gives him a small nod before he walks away, "Get back to me on what you want for Christmas and your Birthday!"
Ace happens to look at the new girl as he turns his head back to his work after watching Luffy walk away. Her (e/c) orbs were trained in him, and she was smiling, but as soon as their eyes meet, she looks away. He shakes his head, his hair slightly falling into his eyes.
Soon, it's his lunch break and he's in the break room, calling Sabo. He's praying that the blond in the bunch isn't in class currently, and his prayers are answered as the phone clicks, "Hey, this is Sabo. I thought that maybe you forgot that I existed."
"I didn't forget, I just didn't want to feel like a burden to you," he runs his fingers through his hair as he lets a sigh escape his lips. "But that's besides the point. How's school go-"
"How is that besides the point? I've been worried about you," the blond sighs, but is more than likely smiling. "But since you don't want to talk about it, I'll answer the question you were going to ask. School is going fine, I've got some homework to do, but also, I'm getting ready to go on a date."
"Really? Then why would you answer this phone call?" Ace leans back in his chair and stares at the wall upside down. "You should be-"
"Because unlike you, I value my family more than a person who I could potentially only have a platonic relationship with. It's just one date, we don't even know if we really like each other yet," Sabo rushes, causing the raven-haired man to know that everything that came out of his mouth after more is a lie, and he just really needs someone to tell him that everything is going to go fine.
"Well, Sabo, any girl who wouldn't want to date you is stupid," Ace sits back up and smiles. "She's going to love whatever you two do together, so I'll let you get ready. Call me when you get back in and tell me how it went."
"Alright..." by the way it came through the receiver, Ace could tell he wasn't ready to hang up. "I didn't even get to talk to you about what's goi-"
"Noting as interesting as going on a date has been happening to me, plus I need to get to my car and grab something quickly before I get back to work anyway. Goodbye Sabo," he waits for the other goodbye before he hangs up and makes his way to the elevator.
Once he exits the doors and makes it about five feet away from his car, he notices a (h/c)-haired woman slipping a new note through his left windshield wiper. Her head turns as she hears his footsteps growing closer and her face falls as she realizes she was caught, "What are you doing?"
"I'm... placing inspiration in your car," she steps down from the curb and lets out a slight chuckle.
"There are hundreds of people in this building," he stares at her as he takes in everything. "Why me?"
"Because it looked like you needed it."

Mistakes are proof that you're trying.
