the family

Do you ever have a day where everything goes great, but then all of a sudden something happens and you're instantly sad. It's probably just a me thing.
-------
It was a rainy day, it seemed like it always rained on his day off. He grabs an umbrella and heads out the door. Puddles already started to form, and he couldn't care less if he steps in them or not.
He stops at a flower shop, purchasing a bouquet, before continuing on his way. The pitter-patter of the rain dropping onto the plastic coating of the umbrella cause him to feel... both uneasy and at peace. If that somehow makes any sense.
He spots the wrought iron fence of the graveyard, causing him to take a deep breath. The air enters his lungs shakily, like an earthquake entering his body. Muddy water splashes up and hits the bottom of his pants as he walks through the nearly flooded area.
He stops before bending down and placing the flowers on top of the soil. The wind blows, causing him to shiver slightly, as his eyes read the words engraved on the tombstone once more. He drops his umbrella and puts his hands into the mud, digging a small hole.
He takes the flowers out of their wrapping, roots and all, and places them into the newly dug home. He silently starts to cry, tear after tear mix with the rain as they run down his face. He's been crying way too much lately, and he wishes he'd stop.
"Mom, what's wrong with me?" he whispers, afraid of the response that he knows he'll never get. "I just don't understand, what am I doing with my life? Mom, I'm sorry you died for someone like me... I'm also sorry that you never got to know your son... I'm sorry that you're watching over someone as undeserving as I am. And I'm sorry that I miss you..."
He picks his umbrella back up and unbends his legs. The rain starts to come down harder, as he leaves the grass and steps back onto the concrete sidewalks. He takes his time going to the orphanage. Once he opens the door, he's greeted by warmth and the smell of... glazed ham.
"Hey, Ace!" Thatch waves as he rounds the corner into the kitchen. "We've missed you!"
"Ace came to visit-yoi?" Marco comes out from the playroom holding a napping toddler. A smile helps melt the stress present on the blonde-haired man's face. "I was starting to worry that you'd forgotten about us all the way over here-yoi."
"I'd never forget about you guys," Ace lets out a sigh, a signal to Marco that all is not what it appears to be, so he goes back into the playroom and sets the child down on the sleeping mat before returning.
"You don't look so well Ace," Marco says as he leads him into the living area and sits him on the couch. "What's happening-yoi?"
"Lately..." Ace takes a deep breath, letting it out slowly. "For some reason, I've been wanting to go to sleep... and never wake up again. My life feels like a mess, and I don't know why."
"Ace..." Marco pauses, he can't really give him advice when he doesn't know what exactly is going on, but he'll certainly try. "Life isn't meant to be easy. It's not even meant to be normal. It's at the hardest level you can ever imagine. No one is perfect, but we all still love each other here. What kind of family doesn't love every flaw of each of their members-yoi?"
"I don't know," Ace lets out a sigh, before looking at Marco with a slight smile on his face. "But what kind of person loves a pineapple?"
"For the love of..." Marco laughs, before shoving Ace a little to the side. "And for your information, I have a girlfriend. So there-yoi."
"You're so petty," the black-haired male shakes his head.
"You're the one that's petty-yoi!"
