Thirty One: Gross Couple Stuff, Because We're A Gross Couple
Not paying attention in class had sadly always been one of my specialities, but lately it really had gotten out of hand. I blamed all of it on Jungkook and just kept telling myself that once I got used to our new situation I could go back to my usual semi-paying-attention.
"Looks cute." Kim Taehyung, who'd always been looking over my shoulder when I was doodling in class, commented, referring to the flood of Jungkook-Sketches I had more or less involuntarily unloaded on to the empty page.
I felt a bit gross drawing him so naturally and so much as soon as I got his okay, but hey, apparently I get a free pass when I'm in love.
"Isn't that Jungkook?" Taehyung grinned, wriggling his eyebrows.
I turned the page with a blank expression, "No."
But no matter how grossly cheesy I felt for drawing him so much in all kinds of random, innocent and most importantly domestic poses, nothing overdid Jungkook's cheesy fucking smile when I spotted him waiting for me after class.
"Since when do we talk on campus?" I teased out of reflex, referring to our past habit of avoiding each other in uni.
He rolled his eyes, arm wrapping around my waist as if it was the easiest thing in the world (and it probably was, for anyone but me), "You know, Bambi. You seem to be making it harder for yourself than you need to."
I glared at him, considering telling him about my inner struggle of being unable to be as casual with the whole thing as he is, but opting not to, because it made me just feel stupid.
After all, Jungkook's awfully sweet affections had become a pretty reliable constant in my daily life a little too quick for traditional dating (I blame that one on the hours of pining the poor boy spent while living right next to me).
Sadly, another constant in my life had become how everyone in Jungkook's social circle seemed to kind of take me for granted all of a sudden - which basically just meant that we would be perpetually get interrupted by The Boys™.
-with which I mean Jungkook's group of meathead friends, ready to ruin my day as they used to before. That day when Jungkook picked me up from class for the first time was also the first incidence on which we collided, and I can assure you I wasn't very elated about it.
At first I wasn't, at least, but just like Jungkook would these pricks eventually grow on me.
Hobi, as I tend to forget sometimes, was part of them, one eyebrow raising with a satisfied smirk as he spotted us.
This little shit. Hope he's happy now.
"Yooo Kook, isn't that your nerdy little Roomie?" One of the guys shouted out excited, having the fucking audacity to crouch down when talking to me, "Y/N, right? I'm Jaebom, remember me?"
"Not...really." I admitted, feeling myself retreat behind Jungkook at the curious smiles directed at me. Jungkook's arm tightened around me, otherwise not showing signs of uneasiness - I mean, they are his friends after all. As unbelievable as this occurrence seemed to me.
"Shit, that explains why he's been ditching us so much lately." Another guy groaned, earning understanding humming around him.
"Well, I can forgive that." Hobi grinned, arms crossed in front of his chest, once again gaining approving hums.
"We knew Jungkook's got game." A smaller guy with these large glasses with see-through plastic frame noted reluctantly.
"Maybe she can join us next time?" A blond guy shouted out, "Hyojong, maybe you can bring your girlfriend along too!"
Jaebom - the one who's been crouching down in front of me - smiled excited, reminding me of a young golden retriever, "Dude, that'd be so cool! Don't you guys think she'd be a great addition to our group?"
Approving hollering around us.
"Woah, woah, wait." Jungkook laughed, "Maybe ask her first if she wants to join - y'all can be a handful."
"Man, you're right." Blond guy sighed, "Sorry girlie, didn't wanna force you to anything."
Jaebom in front of me looked at me expectantly - I swear I could see a tail wagging behind him - and for the love of it, I'm not cruel enough to disappoint a face like that, "Yeah, sure. Why not."
Excited chattering erupted around us and just like that was the topic over, allowing my adrenaline to calm down again.
I felt Jungkook throw me a surprised look and glanced at him with a crooked smile, "I hate to admit that I'm wrong, but maybe not all of them are brain dead assholes."
He jabbed my side playfully, happy smile on his face, "No, they totally are but I'm glad that you're giving them a chance anyways."

Ignoring the dawning promise of an exhausting outing with Jungkook's friend would've been impossible for my anxious ass, but having a Jungkook by my side made it actually pretty easy.
It was easy to forget pretty much everything when I was wrapped up in a blanket on the sofa, editing manga updates while he was right next to me, totally not peeking over my shoulder like a weirdo.
"I really can't get over the fact that you're reading it." I mumbled into my blanket, feeling his breath ghost over my neck.
"How couldn't I?" His arm sneaked over my blanket burrito, pulling me closer to him, which made it decidedly harder to concentrate on the manga on my phone screen, "I want to see the results of the efforts of my hard working girlfriend."
Girlfriend.
When did we start using these words?
"You know-" I felt him shuffle behind me, until he was hovering above me, one arm holding himself up against the head rest next to my head, "I noticed that you seem to like being coddled after sex."
I dropped my phone, groaning loudly, "Don't say shit like that, I'll end up breaking my phone because of you."
He cackled, before reaching down and placing soft kisses on my cheek and forehead, making something inside of me twist uncomfortably.
"J-Jungkook?"
"Hm?"
"It's just... I'm sorry but how can you do these things so- uh- casually?"
"What things?" He slumped back down again, face buried in the crook of my neck.
"That! These casual... affections." I huffed, "I just want to say... I'm sorry if I come across as... uninterested. I just don't know how to..."
He made a small tsk tsk sound, one hand brushing a strand of hair out of my face, "Bambi, I know what your 'uninterested' looks like. Believe me when I tell you that I'm very happy with what I'm getting. Also-" His hand retreated gently, "-I get, okay? Why it's so hard for you. It makes sense that, after what happened to you in High School, it's harder for you to show physical affection. Don't pressure yourself and go at your own pace, Bambi. I'll wait for as long as you need me to."
"I've never... seen it like that." I mumbled, suddenly feeling like crying for some unknown reason.
Both his arms wrapped around me in addition to the blanket, soft breath reaching my ear, "I really like you, Bambi. The way you are." He grinned wryly, "And that just includes your emotional constipation."
"Oh, fuck off-"
Maybe he can help you to take it easier, I remembered my thoughts from the night he confessed. It was actually quite simple- He liked having me around and I enjoyed being around him. It shouldn't be so hard for me to seek his proximity.
You won't annoy him, said that needy little voice in the back of my head.
___
Jungkook was in half sleep when she knocked on his door.
He'd been aware that she wasn't asleep yet, very much accustomed to her ridiculous sleeping pattern, but the fact that she actually went over to him did surprise him.
Sleepily, he tried to focus on her face, noting the lack of light in the living room.
"Were y' drawin in the dark?" Was his first thought, for some reason.
Instead of an answer she slowly tapped towards his bed, his sleep muddled brain not realizing her intentions until she pushed him aside, "Make place, idiot."
"...oh." Suddenly he didn't feel sleepy anymore, hurriedly robbing backwards until she had more than enough space for herself, "G-Go on." Now that made him nervous.
"Thanks." She muttered, "And sorry. Couldn't sleep."
He smiled, "When can you ever?"
"Maybe you can help." She retorted sleepily.
"Wow, okay. Way to put pressure on me." Having her coming INTO HIS BED so willingly was a new milestone he would definitely need to note down in his calendar.
"Boyfriend." She mumbled out of nowhere, now wide-awake Jungkook looking at her bewildered.
"Sorry?"
"You called me girlfriend." She explained.
He really wanted to cuddle her. Oh, he totally would, "Well, yeah." He cleared his throat, "Too early?"
"No." She sighed.
He smiled, "Okay then."
