9 - From Notes to an Introduction

Over the rest of the weekend, Gabriel had avoided being at home for as much as possible. Sam kept constantly appearing, being obviously angry at Gabriel. Maybe he'd figured out that the dye didn't just wash out.

There was no way Gabriel would be able to avoid Sam on Monday, what with school. But that would ruin there silent war thing. Then it would just be a normal war. Which of course is what the fandom wants, but Gabriel can't see through the fourth wall.

Gabriel was in the car with Castiel (the siblings had more than one car), thinking about how he was going to avoid Sam. Cas however looked distracted.

"Cas you're driving, stop looking distracted," Gabe said.

"What? I'm not distracted."

"Thinking about Deano?" Castiel bit his lip and that was enough of an answer for Gabe, who smirked. "What happened?"

"Nothing," Castiel said. "Really. We just watched a movie and then watched the rest of Sherlock. That had a cliffhanger ending..."

"Oh, ouch," Gabriel said, remembering when he had watched that. "At least you only have to wait a year."

"For three episodes," Castiel muttered. They pulled up to the school and Castiel parked, but neither got out of the car. "Are you avoiding Sam?"

"Pft no," Gabriel said. Castiel just bitch faced him. "Nah Sam has a much better bitch face." Castiel rolled his eyes. "Also, you're avoiding Dean aren't you?"

"No, just not going out of my way to talk to him," Castiel said.

"He's never going to want you like that," Gabriel protested. "He doesn't even know you're his soulmate."

"Maybe we should keep it like that," Castiel said. "He doesn't want a soulmate."

"And yet he thought Lisa was his soulmate and went out with her straight away."

"But she's a girl."

There was silence for a moment.

"So that's what this is about," Gabriel said. "You think Dean Winchester is straight."

"He is," Cas said quietly.

"I may not know much about the Winchesters but I know that Dean is sure as hell gay, or at least bi."

"You're just saying that to make me feel better."

"Maybe I am, maybe I'm not," Gabriel said, shrugging. "The question is, are you going to believe me?" With that Gabe opened the car door, leaving Cas to think about what he had just said.

Then he remembered he was supposed to be avoiding Sam.

Gabriel quickly thought of his options. Sam would probably wait at places he normally goes. So if he could get to his locker before Sam got to school and went to his classes late, it might work.

Gabriel looked at the carpark and saw no black Impala. Then he ran inside, straight to his locker. He quickly grabbed all his books, ripping a page out of one of his books and wrote on it. He then went to Sam's locker and stuck it on there. He stopped to look at Sam's locker, now being able to see the bright pink he had painted on there.

He had been pondering this all of yesterday. Seeing colours meant you had met your soulmate. It was a sudden thing, usually happening the moment you introduced yourself to them. It never happened slowly. It never faded in. So what was wrong with Gabriel?

He sighed as he traced over the black edges of the flowers. He hadn't met anyone. And no one else seemed to be having this problem. But the colours were only getting stronger as the days went on. On Saturday he had only seen a trace of the pink in Sam's hair and now the identical pink on his locker was almost impossible to miss.

"Gabriel."

Gabe turned to see Sam standing there, glaring at the shorter one. Gabriel gulped and then ran off, not looking to see that Sam wasn't actually chasing him, just watching with an amoosed smile.

Gabriel got to what he deemed a safe distance before he stopped to catch his breath. He thought for a second and realized Sam hadn't actually looked that angry. Although his hair was still pink...

~~

Sam picked up the note on his locker, reading it. 'I made the dye, only the soap I made will get it out. Oops :)'

Sam just smiled slightly at the smiley face drawn at the bottom. He had been upset, then realized most people wouldn't be able to see the pink anyway. Although that had led him to an interesting discovery.

He had looked in the mirror to see if the shade of grey was any different from what it was when his hair was brown. But he saw pink.

Obviously he was just as confused as Gabe. Meeting your soulmate was supposed to make the world flourish into colours. Not fade in. Sam had studied it, and fading in wasn't something he had come across often. There were a few cases, but why it actually happened was never discovered. In every one of the cases the person had never seen full colours, it had only been half faded in. But how can someone only half meet a person?

There were obviously many theories out there. Most of them thought it was because of an indirect meeting. Say, a phone call or passing notes. But did Sam know that second answer counted? Nope.

Sam went to his first class of the day, science. Gabriel was in that class. Sam scribbled another message on the back of the paper. 'Well then, could I have the soap? I don't exactly like this colour, doesn't match my eyes.'

When he walked into class, Gabriel wasn't there. Probably avoiding him as much as possible. Gabriel didn't come until right on the bell, only just making it before the teacher.

As Gabriel walked through the classroom to his seat, he passed by Sam, who held the note up for him to take. Gabriel took it without so much as a second glance. When he got to his seat he opened it and read it and then looked up at Sam. And then shook his head. Sam watched as he scribbled something down, but couldn't give it to Sam since class had started.

Sam had to wait until the end of class to find out what Gabriel had written. He stayed seated after the bell went so Gabriel could put the note on his desk as he passed, which he did.

'Nah, I quite like it. And it isn't every day you see a pink moose.'

Sam glared and then left the room, writing something down again. (My god would you guys stop writing and talk already?)

Sam didn't see Gabriel again until recess, which was because he purposely went to the Novak's table. Gabriel didn't notice him approach and then jumped as he tapped him on the shoulder.

The other Novak's (minus Alfie, he was somewhere else) were silent as Gabriel silently took the note, carefully watching Sam. Balthazar whispered something to Castiel who smirked a bit. He then whispered probably the same thing to Anna who laughed. But Gabriel and Sam were too busy in a staring contest to notice.

Sam eventually turned and walked away, leaving Gabriel to read the note. It had only said one word, please.

~~

"So Gabriel," Balthazar said. "Who was that?"

"You know who that was, he's the guy who broke down our front door," Gabe said.

"Because you dyed his hair," Castiel said.

"Is this the guy you started a prank war with?" Anna asked and Gabe nodded.

"Sammy Winchester," Gabe said. "Deano's brother." Castiel looked away at that, and both Anna and Balthazar noticed.

"Something you're not telling us?" Anna said suspiciously.

"No," Castiel said, too quickly.

Balthazar watched Castiel for a few moments. "Dean's your soulmate," he said abruptly, and Castiel simply sighed and nodded, knowing there was no point lying to Balthazar.

"Does he know?" Anna asked.

"No," Castiel muttered. "He doesn't want a soulmate though."

"Yeah right, not with the way he looks at you," Gabriel scoffed. Castiel muttered something under his breath. "What was that?"

"I said, like you can talk," Castiel replied and Gabriel went red.

"Wait you mean with Sam?" he asked. "Come on, we've never even talked."

"So what was with the staring you just had before?" Balthazar asked.

"Communication through expression," Gabriel said.

"Isn't that what the notes are for?" Anna asked. Gabriel remembered the note and opened it, reading the one word.

"Maybe you should talk to Sam," Castiel said. "You two would probably be good friends if you weren't having a prank war."

"Even if we were friends, we'd still be having a prank war," Gabriel said.

"Then what's the harm in trying?" Balthazar asked.

"I swear you guys are just trying to get us together now," Gabriel muttered.

"Pft, why would we do that, it's not like you two would be adorable or anything," Anna said, smirking at the Trickster.

"You know what, fine. I'll get him to talk to me." Gabriel scribbled a reply to Sam on the note and stood up, going off to find his moose.

~~

Sam was just going to his next class when Gabriel appeared from nowhere, shoving a note into his hand. As quickly as Gabriel had appeared he was gone. It was as if he had teleported or something. Maybe he flew.

Sam opened the note and almost froze. 'Well, if you really want it, then come and get it ;)'

A winky face. Was Gabriel flirting with him?

Gabriel was watching from a distance. What had possessed him to put the winky face on there, he didn't know, and was starting to regret it as he saw Sam do a double take.

~~

"Hello Dean," Castiel said, appearing suddenly behind Dean. Dean jumped.

"Cas get outa my ass," he said, and Castiel looked at him confused, tilting his head and squinting his eyes.

"I was never in your..." he trailed off as his mind began to wander places it probably shouldn't. "How are you Dean?"

"Great, Sam has pink hair, it's hilarious," Dean said, smiling.

"I know, I saw," Cas said. "He came over to see Gabriel."

"Wait him and Gabriel are friends?"

"Who did you think dyed his hair?"

"Yeah but are they friends?"

"They haven't even talked yet..."

Dean rolled his eyes. "Hey you never told me who the mystery soulmate was." Castiel froze, his mind resorting the shitshitshitshitshit train of thought.

"Uh, it's someone," Castiel said awkwardly.

"It's okay, you don't have to tell me," Dean said and Castiel sighed in relief. "But I do want to help."

"I thought you didn't believe in soulmates," Cas said.

"I don't, but you deserve one," Dean said, smiling brightly at Cas. If I deserve one then stop smiling like that and kiss me already.

"It's not that simple," Castiel muttered.

"Why not?"

"Because he's got the same sort of views on the whole situation as you," Castiel said. "He doesn't believe in soulmates."

"Then we make him believe," Dean said. You're really not going to make this easy are you Dean?

"How?" Castiel asked.

"Well first you need to tell him you're his soulmate."

"Why would he not already know?" Okay maybe if I'm sneaky I can get him to admit that he met his soulmate at the party and no that would ruin our new friendship.

"I don't know, maybe one of you were drunk?"

Good coverup Dean.

"Hey wait a second," Dean said. "He?"

"Oh right," Castiel said. "That's the other problem. I'm bi. He's straight."

Dean winced. "Man that must suck. Well then, kiss the straight right out of him."

You keep talking and I might just have to.

"Or you could throw rainbow glitter at him. I've heard that works."

Wait didn't Gabriel say Sam threw glitter at Dean? And he's saying it works?

"Cas you're being silent, it's weird. Talk."

"What?" Castiel looked back at Dean, blinking. "Sorry."

"No problem, lots of people have conversations with their brains." Unknown to Castiel, Dean's brain was having a similar conversation. Maybe if brains could speak out loud they'd be together already. But that would be weird. And creepy.

~~

It was at the last class of the day that Sam went up to Gabriel. It was art, and Sam went to sit beside Gabe instead of at his normal seat.

Gabriel watched him as he did, most likely waiting for another note.

"Hi," Sam said. "I don't think we've properly met. I'm Sam Winchester." Gabriel smiled the slightest bit as Sam spoke.

"Gabriel, okay. They call me Gabriel."

"Nice to meet you Gabriel. Now give me the soap or someone's gonna get hurt."

Neither of them noticed as the colours in their vision got just a bit brighter, now completely changed from grey to colour, as they were properly introduced.

So this is almost at 300 reads :O :D Also I find it really funny waking up and seeing a whole bunch of votes and comments that happened overnight. Coz to me it seems like you're all up at 2 am, but really it's just time zones :P

Also there's a rumor that in Season 11 there's going to be another episode like the French Mistake...that would be so amazing. Also apparently Richard Speight, Jr. is directing an episode in the new season. Which means maybe possible Gabriel could come back...But the main question about season 11, IS CAS OKAY?!

That question is constantly on my mind. But Misha's been posting pictures from set so he has to still be in it...wether or not he's just a corpse I don't know.

Here have a free hug *hugs*
