6 - Gabe and Cas Aren't Idiots

Gabriel met up with Castiel at school the next day. Castiel looked tired but had a slight smile none the less.

"Sleep well with Deano?" Gabe asked and Castiel looked at him shocked. "Jo showed me the picture."

Castiel sighed. "How many people know?"

"Not too many, just enough to annoy you," Gabriel replied. Castiel suddenly pulled something out of one of his pockets, passing it to Gabriel. "What's this?"

"It's from the person pranking you," Castiel said.

"Do you know who it is?" Gabriel asked quickly, his eyes lighting up with hope.

"Yes, but I'm going to let you figure it out for yourself," Castiel said, smiling slightly. Gabriel glared at him and then looked at the ping pong ball.

"What's the point in this?" he asked.

"No idea," Castiel said. "He just told me to give it to you." Gabriel sighed, then noticed the ping pong ball had a crack going through it, obviously glued back together. He tried to pull it apart but couldn't. He tried harder and yet still couldn't. Eventually he just threw it as hard as he could at the locker opposite him, and it broke as it made contact.

Gabriel ran over to it and picked up the two pieces, as well as the paper that had fallen.

"Just more notes?" Castiel asked.

"And something else," Gabe said. He held out the small origami moose on his palm, showing it to Castiel. Castiel smiled.

"It's a hint," he said. And then walked off, leaving Gabriel confused.

Gabriel unfolded the note. 'I've been at every prank. And come on, how many people around here get called moose a lot?'

"No one?" Gabriel muttered to himself. He pocketed the note and carefully placed the tiny moose inside his locker, then headed off to his first class.

~~

Sam watched as Gabriel got the ping pong ball from Castiel and inspected it. It took him a few minutes to figure out he had to open it, and then several more to actually open the thing. Gabriel found the note and the moose, talked to Castiel for a bit and then walked off. As Gabriel turned though, Sam thought for a second that he saw a flash of something, something not as grey as the rest of his surroundings. Maybe something a little bit golden.

He shrugged it off as a trick of the light and went off to his first class.

~~

"Hey Dean."

Dean turned to see Lisa standing behind him. He smiled up at her then pulled out the chair beside him for her.

"Hey Lisa," he replied.

"So you said you'd think about that whole soulmate thing," Lisa said slowly. "Any conclusion yet?"

"Not really," Dean said. "I mean, you could be lying. But you could be telling the truth. I have no way of telling."

"Wow you really were drunk weren't you?" Lisa said, chuckling a bit. "You don't remember a thing?"

"I remember blue," Dean said. "But that's it."

"I had a blue dress on," Lisa said. "Could that've been it?"

"Maybe. Charlie said eye colour but it could've been anything."

"Well, when you make up your mind, I'll be waiting," Lisa said, winking at Dean before walking off, swinging her hips as she walked. Dean watched her go, totally not focusing on a certain area, and turned back to see Charlie giving him the death stare.

"She's lying," Charlie said.

"How do you know that?" Dean said.

"I just do. Do you seriously believe her?"

"Yes. I do."

"She wasn't even at the party!"

"Just because some stupid list says so?"

"Fine, I'll ask the Novak's," Charlie spat before walking off. Then she realized they were still in class and sighed before sitting back beside Dean.

~~

Castiel sat with Dean and Charlie and their other friends at lunch. He was beginning to quite like these people, enough that he would even call them his friends.

"So, Castiel," Charlie said. "That friend of yours who can see colours...have they found their soulmate yet?"

"No," Cas said sadly. "They're trying though. It would seem as though the other person doesn't want to be found." Dean looked away at that, almost guiltily.

"We could help," Charlie said. "But we'd have to know who the person is."

"I can't tell you though," Castiel said. "They don't want people to know." What am I doing? It's just Charlie...then again, I don't want to be the person who lost their soulmate.

"Well we'll help you in any way we can then," Garth said cheerfully, playing with his sock puppet. "Mr Fizzles will find your soulmate easy!"

Castiel smiled, and then jumped as someone almost tackled into him.

"Hey Cassie," Gabriel said, then looked around the table at all the people. Currently there was Charlie, Dean, Garth, Jo and Sam. "Hey Deano, Jo. Hey that rhymes."

"What are you doing here Gabriel?" Castiel asked.

"I'm going around looking at everyone suspiciously until I get a reaction," Gabriel said. "Or trying to find someone who gets called 'moose' a lot."

Charlie opened her mouth to speak but was silence by a look from Sam. She nodded slightly and then turned to Gabe. "Why are you looking for them?"

"Because we have a prank war going and I don't know who they are," Gabriel said. He turned to leave but Charlie called him back.

"I was wondering, was Lisa Braeden at the Novak party last week?"

"Not that I know of. But I wasn't there until Cassie here was drunk enough not to care. So she could've been there before that." He left after that, leaving Castiel to look down at the table in embarrassment.

"Woah Cas, you were drunk?" Dean asked.

"Yeah, a bit," Castiel replied. "Wasn't everyone though?"

"Good point."

"See Dean, Lisa wasn't there," Charlie said.

"Oh who cares Charlie?" Dean said, annoyance seeping into his voice. "You wouldn't be saying this if I didn't damn have a soulmate. Forget whoever they are and let me have a normal relationship."

"You have got to be joking," Charlie muttered, putting a hand to her head. "She doesn't care about you, how can't you see that?"

Castiel didn't hear the rest of the conversation, he was too busy running away from the table. Dean has a soulmate. Dean doesn't remember his soulmate. Dean doesn't want his soulmate. What if...what if it's him? It makes sense...he doesn't want to find whoever his soulmate is...

Castiel stopped running when he got a safe distance away from Dean and his friends. He looked and didn't see any of them following him, then sat down to think about what he had just heard.

But if it is him...why doesn't he want me?

~~~
"Hey Lisa," Dean said, sitting beside her in maths. "So I was wondering, do you maybe want to hang out sometime?"
"Definitely," Lisa said, smiling widely at Dean. "You busy this weekend?"
"Not sure," Dean said. "How about I found out and then text you about it?" He held out his phone to her and gave her a small smile. Lisa took it and put her phone number in it, sending a text to herself to get Dean's number on her phone. She gave it back and Dean saw a heart next to her name.
Dean smiled and pocketed his phone, then turned his attention to the teacher of the subject he may have been failing at. During the lesson he and Lisa talked a bit, asking each other random questions about the other. By the end Dean knew that Lisa's favourite colour was purple, she had no siblings, her parents worked at the nearby hospital and she'd moved to the school last year. She also hadn't seen Doctor Who or Sherlock. What is it with these people, first Cas now Lisa?
By the end of the class Dean found himself liking Lisa more, and starting to look forward to seeing a lot more of her.
Although the lack of Doctor Who and Sherlock in her life was a bit of a problem.
~~
Gabriel was turning the ping pong ball over in his hand, trying to think hard about who it could be. Although it is Gabriel we're talking about, his attention span isn't very long.
He turned back to his art project, a canvas which was currently still white. He looked around his class again, trying to find someone, anyone who would dare prank him.
"See ya, moose!"
Gabriel's head shot towards the sound of Crowley's voice. He saw him walking away from the quiet kid, Sam Winchester. Sam was hunched over, looking a bit frightened. Undoubtedly Crowley had just threatened him to do something. Gabriel glared daggers into Crowley before looking back to Sam. He caught Sam looking at him before he quickly looked back to his work. Gabe tilted his head curiously, before thinking back to all the pranks.
The first one, in science. Sam had been there and had walked past his bag on the way in, which must've been how the original chemical got into his bag. The second one, ping pong balls. It wasn't exactly a secret that Dean knew how to break into places, so why wouldn't Sam know how to get into a locker?
The cinnamon prank, Sam had set up the ingredients. Swapping it out would've been easy. The chair being swapped out, Sam had been talking to Metatron beforehand and left the classroom as Gabe walked in. The sprinkler, he had seen Sam walking past at the time. And the sketchbook, they were in the same class, it would've been easy with the right skills.
The note Gabe had left on the locker, Sam had left during class and could've read it then. Although one thing still didn't make sense.
How did he know about the war in the first place?
Gabriel pulled a page from his sketchbook and scribbled a couple of sentences.
'Well Sammy, looks like I'm not as dumb as you thought. Good ol' Crowley gave you away. But just one thing, you weren't at the party and that's the only place I mentioned war on you. So how?'
Gabriel waited until the bell had gone and they were all packing up. He pulled out a lollipop and popped it in his mouth before walking straight up to Sam's desk and slamming his hands down on it. He leaned down over the desk, staring directly at Sam but not saying anything. He slid the note over to Sam, who took it, without breaking eye contact with Gabriel. Then Gabriel thought he saw a hint of a smirk behind the innocent expression, just before he turned to leave.
As Gabriel turned away he thought he saw a flash of something, kind of hazel, brown and green all at the same time. But just like Sam he passed it off as a trick of the light. It was common for people to think they saw colours but it usually ended up just being nothing.
~~~

So Cas is starting to figure it out and Sam and Gabe are starting to see colours...wish they would talk already...wait I control this story, I can make them do whatever I want. Why haven't I made them talk yet?!

Randomly was thinking of ideas for a second fanfic earlier...but I know that if I start another one this one won't be updated as often, so gonna put off that train of thought for a while.

And 100 reads in one week, wow guys. Didn't expect that so soon. I was thinking at least a month. But okay :D You guys are awesome :D Here, have a free smiley face :)
