26 - Reenactment

Gabriel woke up. Woah.

The day before he had been looking for Cassie to figure out a science equation. He'd sent Dean to find him...but hadn't seen either of them since. He figured they just forgot about him and went to hang out at the Winchester's house.

Gabe had eventually asked Michael for the science thing. Which Michael had figured out. Which was good because Gabriel needed it today for something very important.

Gabe jumped out of the bed and got ready for school in record time, grabbing a sucker as he did.

"Gabriel?" Becky asked. "You're up early."

"No I'm up at normal time, I'm just usually late," Gabriel said, noting that his other siblings were already up. "Where's Cassie?"

"Haven't seen him since yesterday, he's at the Winchester's right?"

Gabriel shrugged. "I saw him going home with Meg actually."

Becky narrowed her eyes. "Suspicious."

"Don't worry Mum, you've seen the two of them. They wouldn't do anything to hurt each other."

It was later that Gabriel actually started getting suspicious. Balthazar drove him to school, and while Sam was there, Dean wasn't.

"Hey Gabriel," Sam said awkwardly as he stood waiting for the Novak's. Gabriel...ignored him. "Gabe?"

Gabe just kept walking, as much as it pained him to do so, heading off to his first class, art. The same class he had those few weeks ago the day his life changed. And he had to do this perfectly, or it wouldn't work.

Sam gave him a weird and sad look as he watched him walk away and Gabe swallowed the lump in his throat, rounding a corner so he wouldn't have to see Sam anymore.

Oh and then he remembered Sam was in his art class.

Gabriel talked to the teacher, asking for a favour, and then sat down in his usual seat. Sam walked in a few minutes later, and walked over to his normal seat. Gabriel didn't glance his way, but could tell Sam was watching him curiously.

The class went on, and Gabriel stood up and left five minutes before the end, thanking the teacher as he did. He glanced and saw Sam watching him with confusion, but didn't respond in any way. It was hurting him not to do anything, but it had to be done.

Bobby had helped Gabriel out with this part, giving them a substitute teacher, Ellen, in science as an excuse for needing to do the same prac again. And Gabriel had offered to help set up.

He knew where everyone in the class usually worked, and at Sam's usual desk he switched out one of the chemicals. Ellen however saw, but he quickly explained why and she agreed with him, smiling as he said he just wanted his soulmate back.

As the bell actually went, Gabriel sat back at his desk, feet up on the table, and pulled out a sucker. Mirroring his actions from the last time. Except this time, the pranks were reversed.

Some people complained about having already done the prac, but Ellen ignored them. And then, Gabriel watched as Sam went to mix the chemicals...only to have it explode in his face.

"Sam Winchester, what did you do?" Ellen said as she looked at the mess Sam had made. Sam just looked in shock, and immediately glanced over to Gabriel. "You used the wrong chemical, where did you even get this?"

"I..."

"Sorry, that might be my fault," Gabriel said, and the entire class looked shocked at him owning up to a prank. "I must've put the wrong one out. I'm sorry."

Ellen nodded, sharing a look with Gabriel, before telling Sam to clean up. Sam cleaned up while still watching Gabriel, confusion clear on his face.

"What the hell was that for?" Sam asked, walking over to Gabriel. Gabriel ignored him. "Seriously, first you ignore me, then you prank me. And you stole my role of setting up..." Realization spread across Sam's face. "Oh...you're...okay."

Sam walked away and Gabriel smiled softly, before packing his bags up with the rest of class. But on his way out he slipped a note and a bottle into Sam's bag.

~~

Cas ran into school late, having looked everywhere for Dean. He'd called his siblings and confirmed he wasn't at school, but he wasn't anywhere else either.

It was recess, and Cas ran over to the Novak's usual table, where there was a considerable lack of Winchester's.

"Gabriel, how's the plan going?" he asked.

"Good...I think...he knows what I'm trying to do," Gabriel said. "Where the hell were you yesterday?"

"I..."

Silence.

Balthazar, Anna and Samandriel all looked up at Cas to see his heartbroken eyes.

"Woah Cassie, what happened?" Balthazar asked, moving beside Cas to wrap an arm around him.

"Dean...I don't know what he did...but whatever it was it..."

"What do you mean?" Anna asked. "Why would Dean do anything?"

"He thought I was cheating with Meg. Which isn't true, he just walked in at an awkward time and jumped to conclusions."

"Then go explain it to him," Gabriel said.

"That's the thing...for one, I don't know where he is. And two..." Cas choked on his words, a sob tearing through him.

"Castiel," Anna said slowly. "What happened?"

"Colours...they're not...I mean they're here...but they're not bright..."

Silence fell between the Novak's, before Balthazar abruptly stood up.

"I'm going to kill him," he said. "Where is the bastard?"

Gabriel glanced around the room, before freezing. "Uhh...Cas...you know Dean best...if you hurt him, would he want to hurt you in return?"

"That's quite likely..."

"Well don't jump to conclusions but Lisa isn't here either."

Silence again.

And then Anna and Balthazar went on a rampage while Gabe and Alfie stayed with Cas.

~~

Sam pulled the bottle and a note out of his bag at lunch. The bottle had the correct chemical in it, while the note read, 'And so the Trickster, having just being pranked, declared war on this imposter.'

Sam smiled a bit at the note, recognizing Gabriel's writing...except...

Sam suddenly stood up, Jo, Kevin and Adam giving him weird looks. "Gabriel," he said. "I...pranked him. I pranked Gabriel. Why did I prank Gabriel?"

His three friends just smiled and Sam looked around frantically, seeing Gabriel sitting at the Novak's table...with a very upset Cas. And no Dean. Weird.

But he could remember setting up that exact science prac weeks ago, and watching as it exploded in Gabriel's face. Which meant his assumption was right, Gabriel was trying to recreate everything in hopes that he'd remember...and it was working.

~~

Dean woke up and yawned, then looked around before remembering where he was.

He was at Lisa's house.

In her bed.

There was something off about everything around him though.

Dean sat up, running his hands through his messy bed hair.

"Dean, come back to bed."

Dean looked down at the tired Lisa and remembered what he had done. Sure he wasn't a virgin or anything, but the fact that he had Cas now made his actions unforgivable. A sick feeling settled inside of him as he realized just what he had done in his anger.

"Lisa...I'm sorry I have to go."

Lisa didn't object, and Dean got dressed and got all of his stuff before leaving the house and Lisa behind.

It was about halfway through the day, so he decided just to skip the rest of school and headed straight home.

He walked in and collapsed onto the couch in the living room.

"Dean? Shouldn't you be at school?"

"Yeah. Sorry Mum."

"It's fine. What's wrong?"

"I did something bad. I did something really bad. I need to talk to Cas."

Mary sighed and sat next to Dean, pulling him into a hug. "He showed up last night. Said everything was a misunderstanding and it was urgent that he talked to you."

Dean groaned. A misunderstanding. That just made everything worse.

"What happened?"

"I was just trying to find him...and he and Meg were in a suspicious position so I jumped to conclusions."

"What did you do after that?"

"I...slept with Lisa."

Mary was silent, still rubbing Dean's back. "You need to talk this out with Cas."

"But...there's something off...I don't know, does everything look weird to you?"

"No?"

"Everything seems dull."

Mary winced. "Colours. Your colours are dull."

"What?!" Dean stood up abruptly. "No, that happens when people die, Cas isn't dead."

"It can also happen when something tears your relationship apart," Mary said. "It can be fixed honey, don't worry. Just get to Cas. Tell him the truth. He won't forgive you immediately...but it's a start."

Dean just stared before sitting back beside her, letting his mum comfort him as a tear fell from his eye.

~~

Sam put the phone down, looking over to where Cas was waiting. "I'm not sure if you really want to talk to him."

"I need to explain what he saw," Cas murmured. "Before he does something stupid."

"Cas...he already did."

Cas bit his lip and shook his head. "Then we'll fix it." Sam just winced and nodded.

"He's at home right now, Mom said he got home a few hours ago."

Cas nodded and went over to his car.

"Oh Cas, can I get a ride?"

Cas nodded and Sam got into the car too.

~~

Cas walked into the house, Sam running past him to go upstairs. He saw Dean sitting in the living room, and stopped when he saw how bad he looked.

Dean was a mess, his hair sticking up and his clothes rumpled. His eyes were red as if he'd been crying and had a look of horror in them.

"Dean," Cas said softly. Dean looked up quickly.

"Oh Cas I'm so sorry."

"Dean...what did you do?"

"I..." Dean looked away. "Tell me what I saw first."

Cas sighed and walked over to sit beside Dean. He decided to ignore the way Dean shuffled away from him.

"Meg has been helping me learn to fight, so Azazel and his gang can't hurt me," Cas said. "I didn't tell you because you would start worrying about them and in the end only get hurt yourself. I was actually going to tell you today so nothing like yesterday would happen."

"Why were you two standing like that?" Dean asked.

"Meg was trying to reenact a scenario which Azazel would probably start. And in that reenactment I got the upper hand and pressed her against a wall to stop her from fighting back. And then you walked in..."

Dean groaned and buried his head in his hands. "I'm so sorry, I should've listened to you, I shouldn't have run out like that."

"It's okay Dean, I mean what you did couldn't be that bad could it?"

Silence filled the room and Dean looked at Cas with such guilt that he started to doubt his own statement.

"Dean...what did you do?"

"I...I slept with Lisa."

Silence.

More silence.

Deafening silence.

And then Cas stood up and left.

~~

Uhh...sorry...

...Hey guys I got to meet some of the cast!...no? Still mad at me?...ok...

Really though, Rob Benedict is the nicest, sweetest person ever. I've already ranted about twenty times so I'm not gonna say it all again :P

Aanyway, this story is actually almost finished :( I do however, have the start of my next story written. It's like 100 words so far, but hey, it's something. I might finish that first chapter now actually. It's another one with teenage them, but not soulmate or highschool.

Also, when did this hit 9K reads? Wow. Like, wow. You guys are so awesome :) Thank you all so much :)

*hands out pieces of cake*
