•𝓒𝓸𝓵𝓮- Stuck here with you

Lost in Japan [Remix]-Shawn Mendez

This was not happening.

I glanced from the ticket in my hand to the boarding sign above my head. My eyes narrowed, my vision blurry from weariness as I concentrated on triple checking that it was right: flight 326 from here to Ninjago, delayed until further notice.

A grumble escaped my weary throat and unconsciously I crumpled the paper in my hands. This was so stupid. My hand found the handle to my roller luggage and I went to sit by my gate until further notice. A few other people sat here as well, each just as tired and grumpy and angry as me. I huffed as I sat down next to a muscular boy with midnight black hair. A quick glance at my watch proved me right: 2:17 am. I closed my eyes tight and laid my head back to rest against the seat behind me.

"I guess you're on 326, too, huh?"

I sat up just enough to find the source of who ever was talking to me and came face to face with the black haired boy. I gave a sarcastic smile and narrowed my eyes slightly before I replied. "I have the ultimate privilege of being on that flight, yes."

Despite my sour mood, he laughed and I sat up fully and despite my self, smiled. "Headed home or going to visit?" He asked, turning slightly to face me, looking just as weary as I felt.

"Uh, I'm actually going to visit my parents. I got a week off of college and I thought I'd surprise them." I gave a weak smile and he nodded. "What about you?"

"I'm going home. I was... checking on something here and I finally got that dealt with and I'm very excited to go home."

I cast a glare at the stupid arrivals and departures board and huffed. "Yeah, if our plane ever leaves."

His gaze followed mine and he raised his eyebrows. "I don't think glaring at the board will help."

I laughed and shook my head. "It's 2 am, give me a break."

"What did you say your name was?"

"Y/n."

"Sweet. I'm Cole."

"Got any twos?"

"Uh..." I paused and skimmed through my hand. "Go fish." I raised my eyes above the cards in my hands and wiggled my eyebrows. "So... what do you do? Like, I don't know, for fun, or work or whatever?" I questioned as Cole looked over his cards.

His brows furrowed and he gave a quick glance around and narrowed his eyes. "Well, I'm not really supposed to tell people, but after this very engaging game of go fish-" I snorted and he continued, "I think I can trust you. You know the ninja? I'm one of them."

I scoffed and handed over my four, giving him a look. "Okay, do you know how many times I've heard that at school? Every boy ever uses that as a way to get girls to like them."

He shrunk a little from my words as his eyes fell to the deck. "No, seriously."

I lowered my hand and leveled my gaze at him. "You are being serious. Oh my gosh, you're actually serious." I slammed my cards down on the floor and leaned closer to him. "No wonder your ripped. Which one are you? The fire guy? He's cool. Are you the green ninja? Wait til I tell my mom!"

Cole's eyes grew wide and he pressed a finger to my lips to silence me and gave me a glare. "We really should not have gone to get coffee. Also, you can't tell anyone. I'm not supposed to tell people as it is."

I leaned back on my hands, raising my eyebrows. "Okay, fine. Spill it then, which one?"

Another quick glance around and he held his hand out which glowed a weird orange before rock particles swam around his fingers. I leaned forward again, eyes wide, hand reaching out for his. "That really would pick up chicks like no ones business." I whispered and looked at him. "That's so cool!"

He raised an eyebrow and chuckled at me before sweeping his hands across the floor to clean up our card mess. "It sure does." He cast a quick glance up to me and shook his head.

Our heads snapped up and our eyes met as a voice came over the announcement system, slow and slurred. "Flight 326 will be taking off in 30 minutes, please come to gate to board the plane. Thank you for your patience."

"What seat are you?" I asked and looked down at my crumpled ticket as I stood next to Cole in the boarding line. He glanced down at his ticket and narrowed his eyes.

"G7."

"Oh man, I'm right across the aisle from you! We should totally play go fish on the plane, too."

He laughed and nodded eagerly. "Hey, you know we should get coffee or something sometime while you're in town. I know all the best places."

I nodded eagerly and tilted my head. "Wait, like a date?"

He was slow to respond and avoided my gaze. "Uh, yeah, actually."

"Wow you really haven't used the whole 'I'm the earth ninja' to pick up girls, huh?" I looped my arm through his and smiled.

Cole laughed, his eyes bright and warm. "You're the first."
