JEONGGUK WAS CONVINCED of two things. one: that he would never find his soulmate; two: his soulmate was really fucking clumsy.

everyday he woke up with new bruises scattered over his legs and arms, and once - quite strangely - a mark right in the middle of his forehead, that jeongguk had to cover with his fringe for the rest of the day. he rarely bruised himself, being someone who actually had control of whether he tripped or banged into things, but his soulmate was a different matter entirely. he, because jeongguk was gay, and he was convinced that his soulmate was a boy, must've been the kind of person who didn't remember how gangly or tall they were, and bumped into stuff easily.

jeongguk sighed as he got out of bed and saw a new bruise form on his calf, a red mark that jeongguk suspected had come from bumping into the edge of a table or something. if he didn't know better, he'd suspect that namjoon was his soulmate; that boy could trip over when standing straight. but namjoon was with the boy who worked at the coffee shop below his apartment, a small black haired boy named yoongi. they had met when yoongi got his first tattoo, at the exact place namjoon worked at. the grape haired boy had noticed the large scar that both the boys had on their right arm, just as he touched the needle to yoongi's skin. they were a cute couple, both slightly punk and completely adorable. jeongguk had no clue who his soulmate was, and he was really, really annoyed.

jeongguk got dressed quickly, throwing a flannel shirt and a warm hoodie over his long sleeve he slept in, and changing from pajama bottoms into jeans. he ran a hand through his pink highlighted hair, and glanced at the clock. shit. five minutes to get to work. namjoon would skin him alive if he was late.

jeongguk laced up his converse at lightening speed and raced out of his door, not bothering with coffee or breakfast. he could eat in his first break, it wasn't a big deal. he practically flew down the two sets of stairs, out of the door of his apartment building, and then he just had to navigate the carpark, turn a corner, and of course something had to go wrong.

jungkook slipped on some ice and ran right into a small, pink haired boy, and knocked him into the pavement.

"shit, fuck, i'm sorry!" jeongguk spilled a load of swear words as the two tumbled to the pavement, practically crushing the small boy underneath him. the pink haired boy had his hands against jeongguk's chest, preventing them from bashing their heads together. he shivered; the pavement was freezing. it was the middle of december, after all. christmas was only five days away, and it showed by the amount of frost and snow on the ground.

jeongguk stood up and pulled the smaller boy up with him, teeth chattering with the cold. "i-i'm sorry, dude, i didn't see you."

"it's alright," the boy - jeongguk decided to nickname him 'pinky' - responded. "late to work?"

"yeah," jeongguk shrugged apologetically, realising he was right in front of the tattoo parlour. "do you wanna come in? you're probably freezing."

pinky nodded gratefully, and jeongguk opened the door into the very festive looking dragon tattoos and piercing parlour, fairylights strung up around the walls and assorted christmas decorations scattered around. namjoon stood on a stepladder, hanging up a wreath above the tattoo samples, and it did look quite funny to jeongguk, considering namjoon was a six foot, purple haired and tattoo covered twenty two year old, and he was hanging up christmas decorations like a kid.

"morning h-hyung," jeongguk greeted, shaking a little. "sorry i'm late. i, uh, bumped into this guy and i'm letting him warm up in here."

"that's fine, gguk," namjoon responded, turning around. "oh, hey jimin!"

"hello hyung," pinky - or, rather, jimin - smiled, moving closer to the small radiator namjoon put near the desk. "i was meaning to come in here today, actually, just not this early."

"how do you two know each other?" jeongguk asked curiously, taking off his hoodie and hanging it with namjoon leather jacket. namjoon shrugged, jumping down from the stepladder.

"jimin was at hoseok's dance class, a few years ago. we spoke a few times and hit it off," the grape haired boy smiled. "jimin, this is jeongguk."

"it's jungkook!" the younger insisted, glaring daggers at namjoon, who simply smiled.

"it's jeongguk," he said simply. jimin laughed, and holy shit was his laugh beautiful. "anyway, you looking to get tatted, chim?"

"yeah, just a small one," jimin grinned. "could you fit me in?"

"we're not that busy recently, so of course," jeongguk smiled at the frankly fucking adorable boy stood in the tattoo parlour. "just follow me, i can ink you."

"sure."

jeongguk lead jimin to the back office where they did tattoos, sitting the boy down on the huge leather seat and beginning to set up the equipment.

"so, jimin, what kind of tattoo are you after?" he asked as he sterilized a needle, humming linkin park under his breath.

"yeah, i, uh, have a thing my friend taehyung designed for me," the older boy rummaged in the pocket of his hoodie and pulling out a piece of folded paper. "he's a pretty good artist."

jeongguk took the paper, unfolding it to look at the design. it was pretty, a rose designed out of tiny hexagons, like a mosaic tile pattern. jeongguk could see it was fairly complex, and would hurt like a bitch; his tattoo on his back was a watercolor of the big dipper constellation, and took three sessions and a shit ton of pain to complete. this was just as pretty, and was going to be just as painful.

"this'll hurt, you know that?" jeongguk told jimin as he traced the design onto tattoo paper.

"i know," jimin said confidently. "but i'm not like, extremely sensitive to pain. i mean, my friend taehyung cried getting his ear pierced, i got my nipples done last year and i barely flinched."

"dude!" jeongguk laughed. "just why would you get your nipples pierced?"

"for kink reasons," jimin said without hesitation. jeongguk stared at him briefly, before shaking his head. this boy was everything; insanely attractive, yet also adorable, funny, quirky, and best and/or worst of all, kinky, or so it seemed. he was probably taken, by his soulmate, being that perfect.

"anyway!" jeongguk said. "where do you want the tattoo?"

jimin rolled up his shirt, exposing creamy white skin that made jeongguk blush a little at how amazing he looked. he gestured to his side.

"just here," he tapped it. jeongguk nodded, eyes flicking over jimin's torso. he fixed his eyes on a large bruise on jimin's stomach, gasping lightly. "jeongguk-ah? what's wrong?"

jeongguk picked up the hem of his t-shirt, showing the bruise he had in the exact same place. "i-i- we're soulmates."

"holy-" jimin clapped a hand to his mouth, sitting up with wide eyes. "fuck, really?"

"look," jeongguk rolled up his jeans, showing the bruise from that morning. "you have this too?"

jimin nodded. "oh my god, shit, i didn't think i'd be meeting you today. if i had known i wouldn't have worn this sweater, or these jeans, shit, they've got coffee on them, man -"

"- you look perfect," jeongguk interrupted. jimin turned a deep shade of pink, matching his hair, and jeongguk giggled. "i look a mess, if anything. have you seen this shirt i'm wearing? i don't even like nirvana anymore!"

jimin giggled, and jeongguk almost fucking passed out there and then. because fuck, was his soulmate fucking adorable, and jeongguk wanted to kiss jimin right there and then.

"jeongguk?" jimin asked timidly.

"yeah?" jeongguk responded. jimin was still pink, and he seemed to glow under the warm christmas lights namjoon had hung up.

"...c-can i kiss you?" jimin's voice was quiet, and jeongguk stepped closer to the chair where jimin sat, standing between his legs. he leaned forward and pressed their forehead together, hearing jimin's slow breathing.

"please do." jeongguk whispered, finally.

jimin lifted his delicate hand up to cup jeongguk's chin, and tipped the brunette's head up. he gently brushed their lips together, and then they both closed their eyes, lips pressed together, connected in the best way. jimin was soft, all of him, lips tasting like strawberry lip balm, and jeongguk tasted of toothpaste, his lips chapped, and yet they seemed to become jimin's favourite thing.

they stood there, kissing softly, soulmates finally having found each other. and although jimin and jeongguk had only met that morning, they knew they loved one another.
