WORD COUNT 2k
OVERVIEW yoongi bumps into a very familiar face at their support group. ( transgender!bts au )

YOONGI SIGHED GENTLY AS their favourite song started playing in their earbuds. tapping their pale fingers on the skin of their thigh, left uncovered by the skirt they wore, a pleated black thing patterned with skulls. yoongi sat waiting in the stands at the football pitch for their two best friends. they were a boy called namjoon and a demigirl called jimin, who hung around with the tough boys like namjoon just because she could.
jimin was chasing after namjoon for the ball, easily spotted by her bright silver hair, running past jeongguk and yugyeom, before finally tackling the ball and kicking it toward namjoon's team's goal, their goalie failing to catch it. jimin yelled in victory; her team had just won the game, the rule being whoever got to five goals first won. yoongi stood up and clapped, raising their hands to their mouth and yelling praise. jimin's face lit up with a smile, and namjoon said something to her, laughing. jimin jokingly punched him in the shoulder and began to make her way up the stands, namjoon behind her.
"well done minnie, that was great," yoongi complimented, a gummy smile on their face. jimin blushed and grinned. "ready to head to group, joonie?"
namjoon nodded, running a hand over his recently shaved undercut. jimin got on her tip toes and kissed namjoon's cheek in a way of saying goodbye, doing the same with yoongi. namjoon looked like a tomato as jimin waved goodbye, heading back down the stands to her girl friends. yoongi chuckled at namjoon, ruffling his hair.
"you okay there joonie?" they teased, picking up their backpack and throwing their bomber jacket over their shoulders. namjoon rolled his eyes, slinging an arm around yoongi's shoulders as they walked down the stands, headed towards the exit of the pitch.
"absolutely peachy, yoon, dunno why you'd ask." namjoon smiled, making yoongi smirk knowingly. namjoon's soft purple hair was cut shorter than last week, his mom finally letting up and taking him to the salon for a 'proper boy's cut', and he wore a leather jacket and ripped jeans, always with that grin on his face.
he and yoongi made an odd-looking duo; a tall transboy with a cheesy grin and a loud laugh, and a short nonbinary who liked wearing skirts and fishnets, and who had hair like the night sky, with mixed blues and blacks dyed into their short hair. they had bonded over a love for hip-hop and the fact that they were both part of the trans community over a year ago, and jimin had made her way into the group by just being herself — herself being a small, cute fluffball that hung around the two, and that namjoon ended up getting a crush on (although he'd deny it).
yoongi and namjoon walked down the street to the place where their group met up every week, a small, rainbow themed café called spectrum, run by an older couple called jinyoung and mark. it was a café specifically for the LGBTQ+ community, a rare thing in south korea, but somehow, on a small street in daegu, the married couple had made it happen.
the group that namjoon and yoongi frequented was a sort of support group for young trans people, there being around five other members, excluding namjoon, yoongi, and the head of the group, a trans guy named yongguk. yoongi really enjoyed the group. they had met lots of new people (which was usually hard for them to do, being a slightly antisocial and isolated person), and it was something fun for them and namjoon to do together, and namjoon seemed to have a great time too, especially enjoying the live music nights on saturdays.
namjoon spotted the glowing neon sign and crossed the road, yoongi's hand in his. a delicate bell jingled as they entered, and jinyoung looked up from the book he was reading, a gentle smile on his lips.
"hey guys. the usual?" he asked, closing the book and grabbing his apron from a hook. yoongi nodded. "caramel macciato and a hot chocolate coming right up, then," jinyoung grinned. "go on to the group — yongguk, chaeyong and amber are here already, and i think youngjae said she was bringing a friend today? anyway, i'll bring your drinks over."
"thanks hyung." yoongi smiled. they and namjoon found the group easily, a few tables being moved aside so they could all have a seat on the multicoloured chairs and talk, like a proper support group. the whole cafe was bathed in a gentle pink glow, and the tiles on the floor were like the ones at a swimming pool, except they were all patterned with either tiny rainbows or glitter, sparkling as you walked on them. yoongi loved the atmosphere and vibe of the place, plus the wonderful owners and the cheap drinks.
"hey namjoon, yoongi." yongguk broke off his conversation with chaeyong and greeted the two, who greeted him back and sat down, next to each other as always. amber and chaeyong sat next to each other, amber's hand on chaeyong's shoulder as she spoke to yongguk in what sounded like english, but yoongi didn't know. yongguk nodded and responded softly — chaeyong was obviously having a bit of an emotional moment, so yoongi decided to leave them to it, fishing their phone out of their pocket and seeing a new notification from instagram.
you have (1) new message from hobieseoks !
yoongi grinned discreetly and opened the message, smiling as the dm from their internet friend loaded.

YOONGI LOOKED UP from their phone, confused, as the bell jingled again, mark passing them their caramel macciato before dashing back to the counter. yoongi slipped off their silver bomber jacket, revealing a long sleeve black button up, hearing loud talking from where the door was. chaeyong appeared to have calmed down, leaning her head on amber's shoulder, the latter kissing their girlfriend's forehead gently while namjoon spoke to them about a new movie.
"hey guys!"
that was taehyung, the bouncy, happy agender kid yoongi knew from namjoon's photography club, with their usual box grin plastered on their face. yongguk smiled and said hi, and taehyung sat between namjoon and amber, absentmindedly playing with their fake nails. after him came changbin, a small and slightly sad looking boy, in a scruffy hoodie and baggy jeans, sitting to the right of yongguk. and then came the genderfluid mess yoongi had been waiting to see, and right behind her, the all-too-familiar sunshiny face of jung hoseok.
yoongi almost jumped out of their seat and hugged hoseok right there, before realising no one else in the group knew that yoongi and hoseok were friends, and had been for the past five months. they had met via instagram, but had never actually seen each other in real life.
"hey yongguk-ah!" youngjae greeted, looking very pretty in a pink tennis skirt and a black jacket, her dark hair covered by a snapback. "i bought along my roommate hoseok, he wanted to see what this was about."
"that's a lie, i came for the food, and i am not disappointed." yoongi almost gasped at hoseok's voice; it was everything they had expected it to be. still a tiny bit high, as hoseok had only been on testosterone for a few months, but still beautifully boyish, all rough and scratchy, the kind of voice a boy in a low budget indie movie would have. and god, did hoseok look like an indie movie boy. in dark jeans and an over sized flannel over a ghost patterned shirt, his orange hair ever-so-slightly messed up, he looked like a dream.
"well, sit down you two, pull up a chair hoseok, and we can do introductions," yongguk leant back in his chair as youngjae and hoseok sat down, hoseok pulling up a purple chair next to yoongi, and youngjae sitting next to changbin. hoseok glanced over at yoongi, who raised an eyebrow at him, a small smile playing at their lips as they crossed their legs.
"so, good afternoon all of you. you all know me, but we've got a new one in the group, so i'll go over everything," yongguk smiled. he was the dad of the group — he came from a bad and unsupportive family, but he had made it on his own, and now helped people like him. "i'm bang yongguk, i'm twenty three years old, and i work at a pizza place downtown. i'm a trans man, and i'm bisexual." he looked expectantly to chaeyong, who nodded.
"i'm park chaeyong, but you can call me rose, i don't mind. i'm sixteen, i go to the highschool here, and i'm trans and pansexual."
"heya, i'm amber," amber grinned, intertwining her doodled-on fingers. "i'm sixteen, and a lesbian, and i dropped outta high school to get away from my parents, so i live with mark and jinyoung now."
taehyung's grin never faltered as they spoke. "taehyung, fifteen, i go to highschool here too. i'm agender and i guess i like just boys right now."
namjoon smiled nervously at his turn to introduce himself. "kim namjoon, i'm seventeen, and i'm going to college here in daegu. i'm a trans boy and i don't know what my sexuality is as of now."
yoongi smiled with ease as they felt hoseok's eyes on them, crossing their arms. "min yoongi, eighteen. me and namjoon go to college here, and i work part time at a record shop. nonbinary, if you dare to call me she or he i'll kick you, and i'm biromantic asexual."
youngjae and changbin went before hoseok, as newcomers were always last. youngjae smiled and played with her rings as she spoke. "choi youngjae, nineteen, i work at a bookstore. i'm genderfluid, she/her today, and i just like guys, i guess."
"my name's changbin," changbin brushed their hair from their sad eyes, never smiling. "i'm seventeen, unemployed and practically homeless because of my parents. i'm aromantic and asexual, and i think i might be either a demi boy or bigender. i... i dunno."
"hoseok?" yongguk asked. the orange haired boy grinned.
"jung hoseok, seventeen. i'm not doing college right now, i can't afford it, and i teach dance classes to kids. i'm a questioning agender, but i'm chill with he/him for now, and i'm pansexual. i live with youngjae."
"well, that's everyone!" yongguk clasped his hands together and leaned forward. "does anyone have any personal issues they'd like to discuss with the group?"
