Unity and Prosperity
While Frozo was teaching Agent 3 how to swim, Callie and Rukhar were off in the jungle gathering honey.
"Why are there so many bees?" Callie asked. She wasn't attacking them, they were just buzzing around her head.
"The jungle is a safe haven for insect life, and especially bees. Almost the entire realm gets honey and beeswax from here." Rukhar said.
"That doesn't answer my question, but that's cool." Callie said.
"The jungle dragons keep the creatures safe. So nothing has gotten to the bees to hurt them." Rukhar added.
"Huh. Why would dragons protect bees, out if all things?" Callie asked.
"I think they also use honey. Dragons are very smart." Rukhar pointed out.
A distant roar was heard. It sounded like an affirmation.
"Huh." Callie said. "I rather like the jungle."
They reached the first set of hives.
Rukhar walked up to the hives, and with a hunting knife gently but a slit in the bottom of one hive. Honey dripped out, and he put it into some jars he was carrying.
"Why don't they attack?" Callie asked.
"Because this is a daily thing for them. The plant growth is so dense here that they make way more than they need anyways." Rukhar said. "Several times more infact. I just happen to come at a different hour. 3 hours sooner and I can tell you there's be like 50 people here. But we might see a jungle dragon."
Callie looked around, hoping that was the case. "I've never seen one up close."
"You know, there's a zoo in the basement of the facility." Rukhar said. "Axel has baby dragons in there. Some even let you feed them."
"That sounds so cool! I wanna do that sometime." Callie said excitedly.
"Also, there's something I wanted to ask you." Rukhar said after a few minutes.
"Hmm?" Callie looked at him.
"So uh... I was wondering..." Rukhar was having trouble getting the words out.
"What's wrong?" Callie asked.
"Nothing! Nothing..." Rukhar said hastily. "Do you uh, wanna try and do the next hive?" He added sheepishly.
"Sure." Callie said. Rukhar handed her the hunting knife.
"She's the first one I ever gave one of my knives to..." Rukhar thought to himself.
Callie tried to copy what Rukhar had done, and gently cut the bottom if a hive and squeezed it. She wasn't as refined as Rukhar, and a few bees came out to buzz at her, but she filled a jar successfully.
"I did it!" She said proudly.
"Heh. You did indeed." Rukhar said, smiling.
"She's too good for me. She'll say no for sure." Rukhar thought. "But she did agree to date me... Maybe back at the facility I can try again..."
Several hives later, Callie wish came true. In a way she wasn't quite prepared for.
A jungle dragon landed only 40 feet away, and shook a hive gently with his nose.
"Eep!" Callie said quietly.
"The jungle dragon is one of the most territorial and powerful dragons." Rukhar said. "They are also the third largest and fight in packs. There's over 200 of them in the jungle."
"So close though!" Callie said.
The dragon heard them.
It looked over the brush they were hiding behind.
Callie panicked.
The dragon just looked at them for a bit. It spoke after a while.
"Hmm... Don't see gatherers out this late very often."
"I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry don't eat me..." Callie whimpered. Rukhar was still busy processing that a dragon was 2 feet from his face.
"Little one, I don't eat seafood." The dragon said. "Infact, most of my kind of vegetarians. Do not fret, you're scaring the bees."
Callie calmed down.
"Now, I am going back to my dinner. Please, feel free to join me, or head home." The dragon turned back to the hives.
Starstruck as the were, Rukhar and Callie decided to head home.
They got back, and went to the apartments. Both went to Rukhar's room to deposit the honey.
Callie took a seat on Rukhar's bed, and lied back.
"That was cool." She said.
"You were panicking the whole time." Rukhar joked, putting the honey away.
"And you were a statue." Callie said back, gleefully.
"Yeah yeah..." Rukhar said.
"Now's your chance!" He thought.
"So I had something else I uh... Wanted to ask you." Rukhar said.
"I think this is the same thing you were gonna ask earlier." Callie said. "I know you, silly."
Rukhar blanked for a moment, and went ahead. "Heck, she already knows." He thought.
"I was going to ask you... If you... If..." He just couldn't say it.
"If what?" Callie asked, looking at him. "Come on Rukhar, have more confidence."
Rukhar choaked down his insecurities and went for it.
"Would you like to get a room together!?" He gasped.
Callie looked at him for a moment, caught off guard.
Rukhar felt like a jerk for dropping that on Callie.
What felt like an eternity passed before Callie started laughing.
"But these rooms are so small!" She giggled. "If you wanted to cuddle you could've just asked!"
Rukhar felt better. Callie didn't think less of him.
"No, there's rooms you can get for 2 people." Rukhar said. "Both parties have to ask."
"Is that so..." Callie said. "Well, it'll have more space for our cool stuff we keep finding..."
Agent 4 burst in. His appearance surprised Callie, who had never seen him out of his hero suit.
"What's going on here..." He asked slyly.
"Uh......" Rukhar blushed.
Callie kissed his cheek. "Relax." She said.
"Oh my squid... Get a room you two." Agent 4 said.
"Funny you should mention that." Callie joked.
"Wh-WHAT!" Agent 4 was not expecting that answer in a million years.
Then he sent a message to everyone in the group chat.
"Huh." Said Frozo. "That's nice."
"Ooooooooh I knew it!" Agent 3 replied.
Rukhar saw the message.
"I can't believe you've done this." He said. "Not that I'm surprised. You hang out with Jay a lot... Ugh."
Stomping could be heard. Two types of stomping.
Jay burst in first. "Gonna make a baby now ar-..." Marie came in behind him, and kicked him again.
"Learn to keep these things IN your head for a change." She smirked as Jay's face went white.
"Twice today..." He fainted.
"Heh." Marie said, satisfied. Then she turned to Rukhar and Callie. Mainly Rukhar.
"I like you." She said. "Because I know you'll take care of my cousin." She said. "I approve, but just tell me. Don't let her go off and get hurt, ok?"
"O-of course!" Rukhar said.
"I thought so." Marie turned and left, dragging Jay behind her. "I knew he would come, by the way. You're welcome."
Agent 4 was in hysterics. Rukhar picked him up and put him in the hall.
"You wanna go ask now, or..." He looked at Callie.
"Why not?" She said. The pair left together.
4 hours later.
Getting the room took all of 5 minutes, and so had gathering their stuff. The void storage came in handy for putting everything they wanted away. However, setting up the room was another question. They wanted everything to look good, so they had to decide what came out and what stayed in. The new room didn't have a wall rack like the single rooms had, so Rukhar used some credits to buy 2 armor stands. They were in the corner. Callie had her armor already on hers, but Rukhar was wearing his armor. He also got a weapons rack so that they didn't have to waste time digging their weapons out of the storage unit with all the new stuff in it. Callie had her hammer on her, but Rukhar put his short swords up.
The next thing was clothes. Callie had no changes of clothes, so Rukhar made a mental note to take her shopping. He had only a few sets himself, but he didn't need much. So they just filled one small dresser with outfits. They filled a second, larger dresser with some if the cool things they didn't want to sell. Bones, colorful scales and crystals, some various ores and metal pieces. It took 2 hours to arrange them all in a way that looked good.
A table was beside the bed. There was already a simple lamp on it, and Rukhar a hand woven basket. The bigger rooms had order tablets with extra options, and a mini kitchen of their own. Callie thought the kitchen was cool. Rukhar was impressed that she could cook, not that he felt it should be a surprise.
Lastly, they got a gift from agent 3. A picture frame. So Rukhar put the picture he took of him and Callie beating the dungeon in the dark forest into it, and put it on the table as well.
"I wonder how much this cost..." Callie said.
"It's a nice house warming gift. At least, I think that's what it's for." Rukhar said.
"Yeah..." Callie hugged Rukhar.
"So this is a couples room. Big bed." She said.
"Incase we want space I guess." Rukhar said.
"Makes sense." Callie lied on it. "So soft..."
Rukhar smiled. "This is the happiest I've ever been. Thank you, Callie."
