Explaination Station (Magic)
Before I can go any further, I have gotta explain a lot. And I mean A LOT. So buckle up.
First off, let's start with basics. The universe. Axel and his facility live in the True Lost Realm. It is a region not tied to the multiverse, put there by Axel with a powerful incantation, and the help of 2 friends. Many monsters live there as well, and alternative dimensions are present in the thousands, made by inhabitants of the Lost Realm. Further layouts of this part will appear as needed for setting scenes.
With the easy part done, let's look at the magic tree.
Different magics are sorted by 'element'. I say this loosely, and in a bit it'll be clear why. Elements are in 4 tiers, rising in power, Mana consumption, and complexity.
Tier one elements are: Earth, Fire, Nature, Light, Water, Cold, Lightning, Dark, Metal, and Air.
Tier two elements, the numerous set, are: Hate, Fear, Surprise, Imagination, Love, Force, Arcane, Energy (not to be confused with Lightning), Healing, Blood, Psychic, and Chaos.
Tier three elements are: Time, Space, Void, Death, Galactic (entirely different form space), and Power.
The 2 tier four elements are Soul and Reality.
Now, to explain what each element does. Tier one should be obvious.
Hate: Controls the emotion of hate. Often used for battle rally spells.
Fear: Controls the emotion of fear. Used to discourage enemies.
Surprise: Changes an enemies expectations.
Love: You'll never guess. Not a combative element, few bother learning it.
Force: Manipulates push and pull effects. Often called Gravity magic, which is it's main use.
Arcane: Control over the base of magic. Many wonder why it is harder than the tier one elements, due to its simplicity.
Energy: Another uncommon element, doesn't do much more than pep people up and charge batteries.
Healing: Actual combat healing spells. While Nature and Light work for newbies, real fighters need mastery over this.
Blood: Another obvious one.
Psychic: The ability to protect your own mind and examine another.
Chaos: Manipulation over the aspects of madness. Manifests in bizare forms, often said to be tier three.
Time: Controls the flow of time. Time travel is not included, however.
Space: Manipulation over matter. You still cannot create or destroy it, however.
Void: Control over the aspects of the abyss. The most prominent combat magic, as well as Power.
Death: Need I say more?
Galactic: Control over outer space. Very unused, as weaker elements can do most of the same things. But advanced flight comes in this element, so everyone has to learn at some point.
Power: Management over power levels. The status effect element, also used for barriers, an important item to have.
Soul: Control over souls. Axel is the only master of this element, and that entirely attributed to his equipment.
Reality: The breaking point of magic. Capable of deleting or making matter, though only temporary, and with dire side effects. Used in timeline manipulation, more than time is. The District 14 High Magister Chappa is the only expert. No one has mastered this element.
