Aquatic Mishaps

While Callie and Rukhar were busy clearing a dungeon, Marie and Agent 3 were off doing target practice by a river. It was pretty calm, with no noise except the occasional explosion or gunshot.

"Shame we can't set up targets across the water." Marie said, tagging another piece of driftwood.

"Kinda, for you." Said agent 3, blasting a rock across the shore with a hand grenade. "I'd just destroy the things "

"Well some of us don't have large explosives in every pocket." Marie replied lightly.

"Noted." Agent 3 said, shooting a rocket.

A few minutes passed.

"So." Said Marie. "You sure there's nothing around?"

"Thought so. Why?" Agent 3 replied.

"Just a feeling." Marie said. "And it's not Jay."

"That's a new one." Agent 3 said.

Marie tossed an ice shard at a drifting piece of paper. "Indeed. Who else would try and sneak up on us?"

They sat for a while. Marie was still on edge, and agent 3 looked around a bit, but quickly went back to throwing various explosives. It was her favorite pass time.

Suddenly, a bush rustled. Marie shot at the sound, and a dead Marsh scorpion rolled out of the bush.

"Chill Marie." Agent 3 said. "It's just the wildlife."
Marie relaxed a bit, no longer feeling as uneasy.

Meanwhile in the bush.

"Holy crap Exon." Jay said to himself. "She missed me by an inch."

"You are going to die from one of your pranks some day..." Exon said disappointedly.

"No pain no gain." Jay replied.

"You're unbearable sometimes." Exon said, irritated.

"You'll get used to it one day." Jay said.

"No." Said Exon.

Marie swore she heard them talking, but ignored it.

Both were facing the river, and agent 3 primed another grenade.

Jay saw this as his chance.

As soon as the grenade exploded Jay ran forwards and pushed agent 3. Marie jumped out of the way before Jay could push her.

She tried to catch 3, but she fell face first into the river.

"You...." Marie said in fury. She raised her gun.

"Hey guys I'm not dead! I think." Agent 3 yelled. "Also help."

Agent 3, having been weak to water for all her life, never learned to swim. This, she was sort of walking against the current, trying to keep her head above water. She slipped.

Marie dropped kicked Jay in the balls, and ran towards where agent 3 went under in one fluid moment.

"Augh!" Jay cried in anguish. "Wasn't once enough? It was a prank!"

Marie stuck her gun into the water, and started following agent 3 downstream. It took several minutes to reach her, and she hadn't surfaced once. Marie suddenly felt a tug on her gun. Agent 3 had caught it. She climbed out of the river, a little bruised from the rocky bottom, but in good shape.

Jay hadn't caught up. He was still in pain, rolling on the ground. Marie had steel plates in her boots for better Jay destruction.

"Are you ok?" Marie frantically asked.

"Uh, yeah, I'm ok." Agent 3 said, surprised herself. "Maybe the water here can't hurt us?"

"But Callie got hurt by the shower water our first morning, remember?" Marie said.

"Maybe it's just this river?" Agent 3 guessed again.

Marie rubbed a finger on the water covering agent 3. It stung a little.

"Nope. River still hurts. Also you were underwater for a while. You wouldn't have held your breath that long, could you?" Marie said.

"I was never holding.... Hold up." Agent 3 started. "Maybe I am immune to water because my magic is water?"

"That's a good thought." Marie said. "How fancy."

"Did you kill Jay back there?" Agent 3 asked, noticing his absence.

"Naw. Just kicked him." Marie smirked.

"End... Me..." Jay gasped.

"I think I need to learn to swim then." Agent 3 said. "Not gonna lie, it's kinda relaxing after the sudden shock."

"Who's gonna teach you though?" Marie asked.

"I can ask Rago maybe." Agent 3 asked.

"Rago is a demon, I doubt he swims." Marie said.

"Rukhar?" Agent 3 asked.

"I guarantee Callie will come with, but maybe." Marie said.

"Not Jay of course. Maybe Frozo?" Agent 3 asked.

"That's a thought. Let's call him." Marie said.

One conversation later.

"He said ok!" Agent 3 said excitedly.

"Well, let's head back to the facility. I hear they have a pool. Better than a river any day." Marie said.

"I guess." Agent 3 said.

Jay meanwhile had crawled back to the bushes.

"I keep telling you idiot." Exon snapped at him. "You can't mess with that Marie girl."

"I'll get her one day..." Jay grumbled.

"You'll be infertile far before that happens." Exon said back.

Meanwhile at the pool.

"So you mean to tell me you can't swing because water kills you normally?" Frozo asked agent 3, surprised.

"Yeah..." Said agent 3.

"Makes sense. Ok, I guess I'll have to start with the basics. You really should have asked Rukhar." Frozo said. "Anyways, you're gonna have to get in the pool. Wait, you don't have a swimsuit, do you?"

"I don't really care." Agent 3 said. "It's already wet, what's more water gonna do?"

"Can't argue with that one." Frozo said.

Agent 3 got into the pool.

"Still feels weird not dying instantly." She remarked.

"I'm sure you'll get used to it." Frozo said.

One montage of Frozo teaching agent 3 how to swim later. (Idk how'd you learn to swim?)

Agent 3 was swimming laps.

"You're... A surprisingly fast learner." Frozo said, still impressed.

"Comes with the job description." Agent 3 said. "Old and new."

"I don't know what job you had before, but you're not wrong that learning to be a generator technician, and a bomber class, takes time usually." Frozo said.

"Anyways I gotta get back and change." Agent 3 said, climbing back out of the pool.

"Of course." Said Frozo. "Thanks for letting me teach you."

"Thanks for teaching me!" agent 3 said. "It was very fun."

She left, waving.

"Heh." Frozo said to himself. "She's very sociable."

Back at agent 3s apartment, she realized she doesn't have spare clothes at all.

"Hmm." She thought. "Guess I need to go buy something. But who sells clothes..."

She left her room, still in her soaked hero suit, to look for someone who sold clothes. She ran into Shealia, who was as usual patrolling the halls.

"Excuse me ma'am?" She asked. "Do you know where I might buy something to wear?"

Shealia turned to look at her. She walked a little closer.

"Yeah, the village sells basically everything during the marketplace, but there's a clothing shop open full time. Just uh... Don't expect too much. Anything good is made by hand." She said.

Meanwhile agent 3s suit was already dry.

"Oh, ok. Thanks!" Agent 3 said. She headed out to buy something dry. She got all the way to the village before realizing her clothes were dry already.

"Huh." She said. "Well, Frozo suggested a swimsuit anyways, and this is starting to smell... I'll find agent 4 something too..."

She sent agent 4 a message telling him to meet her at the village. He arrived quickly.

"What's up?" He asked.

"Our suits smell awful." Agent 3 said simply. "We're getting some new outfits. I'm paying, so don't complain."

"But why you?" Agent 4 asked.

"Because I have a job and the only other one with money is Callie and she's off doing squid knows what right now in the jungle." Agent 3 replied.

"Fair..." Agent 4 said.

The pair went into the lackluster store. They had some options, but nothing very interesting at all.

"Wow this stuff is... Not very fresh." Agent 4 remarked.

An elf in the next isle called over. "This is just boring stuff. If you want something cool you gotta make it yourself or pay someone to make it for you."

"Yeah I thought so..." Agent 3 said. "It'll do for now, until we get some better equipment."

The same elf called again. "The different colors have different elemental boosts. I think you know your color, right?"

"Yeah." Said agent 4 back. "Thanks for the note."

Agent 3 grabbed a blue tee and a pair of washed out jeans. She also managed to find underwear, but it was nothing special. Just white, in one style.

"Unisex undergarments huh? Low budget but it works." She mumbled to herself. Then she tossed a pair at agent 4.

"Yo 4! Take this." Agent 4 caught it, luckily. "Now to find the rest of my set..."

Agent four had grabbed a yellow single sleeve shirt that left his sword arm uncovered. "They have a couple styles at least." He said. He also got a pair of hardened linen cutoff pants. "This'll do." He said.

Agent 3 managed to find bras her size, luckily, because there were only a few sizes. The garment in question was also white.

She took agent 4s picks and purchased everything.

"Thank you!" A happy old lady at the desk said and she deposited the meager amount of credits. "Come again!"

The agents left the store. Neither had intentions of going back, they had all they needed.

"Never thought I'd be roughing it like this, eh, 3?" Agent 4 said as they got back to the facility.

"Me neither. But think of Callie and Marie. Maybe they don't shop often but their fancy dresses are all gone." Agent 3 said. "Not that a mind too terribly. So long as we get back."

The pair split up when they reached the dorms, and went to their rooms where they promptly washed their Hero suits while wearing their new clothes.

"Agent 3 was right." Agent 4 said. "We reeked..."
