Episode 7: Two Down
"Alright, Garmadon...that's...that's a lot to take in all at once." Macaque said, putting a hand on his head. "So, there's this all powerful evil being called The Overlord and he's come here to destroy us all? And he has an army that can crystalize anyone they touch?"
"And due to this realm being different from yours, the villains and heroes of your world are supercharged whenever they come here, to match our level of fighting and power?" Lily asked.
Garmadon hummed. "That's putting it lightly, yes."
"Good thing I've already sent a text to MK." Lily gulped before looking at Macaque. "We have to go warn them or help them!"
Macaque stood up and faced Lily. "Kid, you're not ready to fight-"
"Then, at least bring me with you! I know Mei's still not comfortable around you after you put the Samahidi Fire into her!" Lily said. "I know I can't fight as well as you, but we at least have to help them!"
Garmadon then stood up as well. "It's likely The Ninja and my son have already met with your friends. So, yes. Your daughter's right."
"SHE'S NOT MY DAUGHTER!" Macaque exclaimed, with Lily blushing in embarrassment. "BUT YEAH, GOOD POINT."
Garmadon gave him a look. "You don't have to shout, Macaque..."
Macaque sighed. "Sorry, sorry...we already dealt with one world destroying psycho, so I guess this isn't new."
He then looked at Lily. "Let's get going, kiddo."
Lily smiled wide before summoning her shadowy staff into her hands. She was getting better and better with her powers.
Garmadon then turned into his Oni Form, taking out his wings as well so he could fly. "Do you all have a way of transport?"
"Unfortunately, mine's not as simple...unlike Wukong's friggin' cloud." Macaque groaned. "I hate that guy..."
Garmadon hummed. "Who?"
"Meh, he's my big brother." Macaque said nonchalantly as he headed to the garage of his temple, where he had kept a flying vehicle that he managed to get his hands on when he worked for the Lady Bone Demon.
Garmadon chuckled. "We really are alike. I have a brother as well. Is yours associated with the color gold?"
Macaque cackled. "Well then! Guess we're two sides of the same coin, eh?"
Lily then butted in as they headed into the garage. "Wukong's your brother?!?"
Macaque crossed his arms. "Why are you acting like that's such a shock, kid? We're the only two magical monkeys born from rocks. It's not such a surprise that we'd be related in some way..."
"T-that still would've been good to know! Why did Wukong and the stories never mention that?!" Lily exclaimed.
Macaque chuckled a bit. "I dunno if you've noticed, but the stories quite literally wrote me out of history. Whoever wrote that Journey To The West tale had gotten some things wrong."
Garmadon hummed. "Something happened between you and your brother then...?"
"Oh, yeah." Macaque said as he and Lily got on his strange flying bike thing. "He abandoned me for eternal life a long time ago, not even thinking for one second about how I felt about being left on that damned mountain all by myself..."
Lily's heart clenched, knowing that Wukong had changed from all that time ago, but Macaque still felt abandoned by his own brother. Either way, currently, the two's relationship wasn't a healthy one.
Macaque revved up his vehicle as he flew off with Lily holding onto him. Garmadon flew after them, using his dark power to increase his flight speed.
Lily looked around...but her eyes widened in horror when she saw the city and the sky. It was dark and the entire city was covered in pink crystals.
Macaque was speechless for a moment. "Whoa..."
"He's already come..." Garmadon growled. "Be on your guard. We have to find my son's team and yours."
Macaque nodded, suddenly showing something...all six of his ears and his rather horribly scarred eye, which was white. He was likely blind in that eye.
Garmadon stared at the six ears in fascination, but remained silent as he flew. He then looked around. '...you better be safe, Lloyd...' He thought to himself.
Deep down, he knew that there was the shred of a man who loved his son and would do absolutely anything for him. Even though now, he didn't understand how to express that.
Macaque's ears suddenly twitched and his eyes widened as he made a sharp turn in the air as something shot at them, but missed...or rather...someone shot at them and missed.
Garmadon created a sword out of pure destructional energy and growled as the person flew high into the air. And sure enough, it was one of The Crystal King's generals.
General Vangelis AKA The Skull Sorcerer. He was wielding the Scythe of Quakes.
Garmadon growled. "The Overlord's sent one of his lackeys after us...?"
Vangelis smirked under his mask. "Fool...I'm much more than a lackey. Especially in this realm." He said before lunging at Garmadon and suddenly slashing him across the face and then punching him across the air.
Garmadon stopped himself in mid air and charged at Vangelis, clashing his weapon against his. The two winged figures started flying all across the air while swinging their weapons at each other.
Macaque growled and used his vehicle's weapons at The Skull Sorcerer, firing at him as he chased the two. Vangelis wrapped himself in his wings, blocking the lasers from hitting him before he flew at the shadowy primate.
"You drive." Macaque told Lily as he hopped off his bike and then watched Lily take the controls before he summoned his staff and smashed it across Vangelis' face.
Vangelis roared in pain, but he suddenly threw his scythe at Macaque, who swung his staff and sent it flying. Vangelis just smirked and lifted his hand, which glowed pink.
The scythe came flying back into his hand and he charged at Macaque, who was being thrown back into the air by Garmadon. Vangelis then started battling both of them, with Macaque using his shadowy portals on Garmadon to keep in the air.
It was as if Garmadon was made of shadows, so that came in handy.
Lily tried to fire at Vangelis whenever she knew it was safe for her new ally and her mentor, but she felt like she could hardly keep up. She never thought her first battle would be like this.
Macaque then punched Vangelis in the face before grabbing his wing with his tail and throwing him towards Garmadon, who blasted at him with all four of his arms.
Vangelis cried out in pain as he started to fall, but his wing quickly healed and he flew back into the air. He then snarled, spinning around his scythe. "I GROW TIRED OF THIS...BESIDES, I ONLY CAME FOR YOU."
He pointed his scythe right at...Macaque?
Macaque's eyes widened as he landed on a tree. "...me? Why are you after me?"
"The Crystal King desires all of these Four Spiritual Primates...and you? You're one of them." Vangelis grinned. "We've already got your brother..."
Macaque's eyes widened and he gripped his staff suddenly. "As if someone like you could beat him..."
"Oh, really?" Vangelis cackled before snapping his fingers. "Then, who is this?"
And then, in a pink blur...an all too familiar monkey with crystalized skin and the same armor as Vangelis zoomed in, punching Macaque across the face.
Macaque cried out as he fell off the tree, but landed on his feet. He then summoned his staff and his eyes widened when he saw someone stomp towards him.
He was breathless for a moment before looking down...and then back up at this crystalized version of his brother. "...so, they did get you. Couldn't fight back?"
Wukong just...groaned. It was like he was a zombie. He was even positioned like one. And Macaque could sense it.
He was weakened. Nowhere near as powerful as he usually was. Did he even have all of his powers anymore...?
Lily watched before she saw Vangelis lunge at her. She gasped and quickly blasted at him, which gave Garmadon enough time to tackle The Skull Sorcerer in the air.
Macaque stared down Wukong before lunging at him, with the zombified Wukong doing the same. The two clashed with each other, Wukong groaning as he suddenly tried to bite at Macaque, with Macaque headbutting him.
Wukong stumbled back, but groaned as he started to punch and kick at his brother, who just jabbed him in the stomach and then smashed him across the face with his staff.
Macaque grunted. "C'mon! Fight back, Wukong!" His eyes then widened when he felt something on his hand. He looked down...and saw his hand was completely encased in crystal.
Then, he realized it...he had touched Wukong, who was now infected. And now, like a disease, it was spreading to whatever they touched. Macaque swore and vowed to fight, yet not get touched by this zombified Monkey King.
Wukong lunged at Macaque, roaring before a bunch of his shadowy clones kicked and punched at him. Wukong fell to his knees before one of his clones grabbed him and threw him in the air.
A bunch more of his clones appeared and started treating Wukong like a sentient pinball, punching him from one clone to the other, with Wukong roaring and groaning with every punch.
Macaque then fell to his knees with a grunt as the crystal started growing on his arm. "S...shoot...it's spreading fast..."
He then looked at Lily, who was flying towards him. His eyes widened and he backed away as Lily hopped down.
"MACAQUE!!!" Lily exclaimed as she rushed over.
Macaque held out his crystalized hand. "BAI HE, GET BACK!!!"
Lily gasped and froze. "Y...you got touched! H-hang on, there's gotta be a-"
Then, Garmadon crash landed next to her. He growled and was about to get up to fight Vangelis more until he saw Macaque. "...oh no..."
"M-Mr. Garmadon! Please! Help him!!!" Lily pleaded as the crystal grew more and more across Macaque's body.
Garmadon looked at her with hurt eyes. "...there isn't any helping him...the only way we can is stopping The Crystal King."
Lily was silent for a moment before shaking her head and rushing to Macaque. "P-please hang on! P-please!!!"
Macaque gave her a weak smile. "...please don't cry, kid...I'm gonna be fine...kick The Overlord's ass for me, alright?" He then grunted as the crystal grew on his legs and tail. "G-go...GO!!!"
Lily had tears streaming down her face before Garmadon grabbed the poor girl and flew off into the air at super speed.
Vangelis watched them fly off and then grinned as he flew down towards Macaque. "Oh, you poor fool...did you really get crystallized that easily?"
Macaque smirked as he leaned against a tree, at least wanting to be himself during his final moments. "I've fought a lot of battles, Skull Sorcerer...almost too many, yet not enough. I know how to brutally destroy someone, powers or not...but I'll admit. A crystal touch is what's doing me in..."
Vangelis landed. "Accepting your fate? I expected more..."
"Nah...I've run out of things to say." Macaque smirked. "Well...all but this: You're going down. Whether I'm there to rip your wings out or not..."
Then, the zombified Wukong landed on his feet and started shifting towards his brother with a groan. Macaque looked at Wukong for one last time before he closed his eyes as the crystal covered his skin.
Seconds later, Macaque got up...and groaned, his eyes glowing purple.
Vangelis smirked. "Good...now follow me. The Crystal King desires your powers...and the other two as well..."
