Episode 4: War of The Kings
The Monkey King. The Great Sage Equal To Heaven. Sun Wukong. He had a lot of names...almost...too many to be honest. Wukong didn't mind though. The names all stroked his ego.
An ego. Even after being humbled through his master, Tripitaka, and becoming a mentor himself to the young Monkie Kid, he still had a massive ego. And for good reason. He was one of the mightiest warriors in the realm. Not to mention, completely immortal and unkillable.
That part had its ups and downs. Wukong recalled very depressing times where he wished he could actually age or, well, die. Those times were after his master and friends had passed away.
They were apparently reincarnated into MK's friends now, so that would take some getting used to.
Wukong was sitting upside down on his throne, bored out of his mind. MK had just left Flowerfruit Mountain after finishing his lesson...and he already missed the kid. He cared a lot about MK as if he was one of the many monkeys who lived on this mountain.
Those monkeys were like...his children in a way. After all, he was over 5,000 years old, naturally he'd grow a paternal instinct at some point.
"Hmmm...would it be so hard to adopt MK?" Wukong asked himself. "Psh, nah. I'd be a pretty bad dad to the kid anyway...plus, Piglet's already got that role covered."
He then got off his throne and began walking around Flowerfruit Mountain, once again admiring the beauty of the place he called home. It never got old. Even after centuries, it was such a beautiful place to live in.
Wukong's eyes then narrowed when he recalled a not very fond memory. A memory of Erlang Shen. The mightiest warrior in The Celestial Realm and the nephew of The Jade Emperor, ruler of said realm.
So, much like his uncle, Erlang was a total nutjob. The guy set his entire home ablaze for...generally no reason other than the fact that he considered Wukong a demon. Erlang was the one warrior Wukong never actually beat.
Mostly because Erlang had won by Wukong getting trapped.
Wukong scoffed. "If the guy were still around, I would kick his ass into next Tuesday." He grumbled before suddenly, he began to hear terrified whimpers and chattering.
The Monkey King whipped around and used his enhanced speed to quickly get over to all of his subjects in the forest. They were all looking up at the sky, absolutely terrified.
A few of the younger monkeys clutched onto Wukong's leg, trembling and shaking. Wukong knelt down and held them close. "Whoa, whoa. Hey, what's wrong?"
And that's when he looked up...and saw an entire temple the size of an island flying over to Flowerfruit Mountain. Wukong had never seen anything like this...not to mention, this temple had a demonic face right in front of it.
"What the...?" Wukong whispered before he gently gave the younger monkeys to their proper parents. "All of you stay right here. Okay? I'll deal with this. Probably some wannabe demon that wants to tango with the one and only Monkey King."
He then summoned his Somersault Cloud and flew off into the air right towards the temple. He grinned...before suddenly, the demonic face on the temple opened its mouth.
Suddenly, four legged dragons made of rock and pink crystals started flying at him like cannonballs being fired from a ship. Wukong gasped and then flew around the air as the dragons started to chase him.
He had never seen so many dragons before. He had seen dragons, yes, but not so many all at once...nor did he see any kind of dragon made of crystal.
Wukong shook it off and then zoomed towards one of the dragons, pulling back his fist and then shooting it forward into its face. The dragon fell through the air, losing its balance from the punch. Two more dragons lunged at Wukong, only for him to punch them as hard as he could.
One dragon opened its mouth and suddenly breathed out pure pink energy. Not the fire that Wukong was used to.
But The Monkey King loved a challenge. His eyes glowed gold and his own energy fired from them and began pushing back against the dragon's breath. The pink and gold energy clashed and pushed against each other at a devastating pace.
That's when a few more dragons started flying towards Wukong, who pulled out a few of his hairs and turned them into clones, who all quickly started using their laser vision too against the dragons.
Some of his clones were even able to completely obliterate the dragons into nothing but rock and crystal.
Wukong grinned and then screamed as he increased the power of his laser vision, finally winning the tussle against the dragon and obliterating it. He then started zooming around with his clones, punching or blasting them all into nothing but useless pieces of rock.
Eventually, the demonic face on the temple closed its jaw. Wukong laughed as he breathed heavily. "That all ya got?! That was just my warmup!!! Send me something tougher!!!"
Then, Wukong began hearing...screams. Screams from his mountain. He gasped and then zoomed back onto Flowerfruit Mountain.
And much to his dismay, he saw his subjects all running away and hiding. Wukong quickly got in front of a giant group of them...to come face to face with an army of strange demons.
The demons had monstrous faces and were all holding spears...but much like the dragons, they were made of a strange rock and pink crystal.
Wukong cracked his neck. "You're gonna regret even stepping onto my home..." He growled before zooming at the army and punching one so far into the air, it was never going to be seen again.
The other warriors suddenly started grabbing him, but Wukong just spun around and used his great strength to shove them all in different directions at great speeds.
Wukong laughed. "Wow. That was pretty pathetic-" His eyes then widened when he suddenly felt something tingle and spread across his arm and leg. He looked down...and his eyes widened when he saw his arm and leg were covered in the same pink crystal the warriors were made out of.
It was spreading like an infection, but slowly.
"W...what is this?!" Wukong exclaimed before he began slamming his arm against the wall of a mountain to shatter the crystal 'infection'...but it wasn't budging.
The warriors then all lunged at Wukong again, but The Monkey King quickly made a bunch of clones and then shapeshifted into a falcon, flying off as the clones kept him busy.
Somehow, these...things had infected him when they touched him. So, he couldn't just punch them all into nothing.
He then turned back and started firing his laser vision again, blowing up as many warriors as he could. But then, suddenly, something small hopped onto his back and started scratching and tackling him.
Wukong cried out as he fell from the place he flew onto and into the small stream. He got up and threw whatever had gotten onto him...only for him to stare in horror.
Right in front of him...was one of the monkeys. But their skin was completely crystal and they were groaning like some kind of zombie.
"No...NO!" Wukong screamed before he turned to the warriors, who were about to grab a group of monkeys. He zoomed over and blasted them into pieces, saving them.
The monkeys quickly ran off, realizing that they had to be anywhere but where they were. It was far from safe.
Wukong felt relieved before he saw more of these 'Crystal Warriors' lunge at him, a few of them actually grabbing him and causing crystal to grow on his shoulders. Wukong roared and used his crystalized fist to swat them away and then blast them into bits.
"W...what is going on...? I...I feel...weaker..." Wukong suddenly said as he fell to his knees. He looked at his arm and leg...the crystal infection was continuing to slowly cover his entire body.
He had to save his people, his home...but he felt so weak. As if these crystals were either restraining him...or draining him.
Then...he suddenly heard a cackle. "It's an honor to meet you in person, Sun Wukong."
Wukong whipped his head around, growling before he saw...some kind of woman with snow white hair and red face paint. She was holding a sword and wearing very strange looking armor with an even stranger symbol on the chestplate.
The Monkey King figured it was a demon in a disguise and he used his Golden Gaze...but saw nothing. This person was human.
"I have to say, I didn't think that our warriors would take you down so easily." The woman said. "I'm sorry that our warriors had to Crystalize your subjects...believe me when I say that wasn't the plan-"
Wukong roared and then lunged at the woman, only for him to suddenly be blasted away by some kind of energy ball. He tumbled onto the grass, groaning in pain. He never felt this...helpless ever since he was trapped by The Buddha so many centuries ago.
Then, some kind of cyborg wearing the same armor as the woman came in with a grin. He had a clearly evil mustache and a bowler hat, along with a robotic arm with a cannon instead of a hand. "Man, the stories were pretty wrong about you, monkey! You're easy to take down!"
Wukong got up again before he was suddenly kicked in the stomach, grabbed by the neck and then thrown into a tree. Wukong's body smashed right through it and back onto the grass. He got up and saw some kind of warrior.
He was wearing a helmet with a visor to mask his identity and holding two shurikens made of pure crystal. And he too, was wearing the same armor as his comrades.
The warrior threw the shurikens at Wukong and they struck him in the chest. Wukong screamed before he was trapped in pink ice, only his head being free. The warrior walked over and ripped the shurikens out.
And then, three more people wearing the same armor came out. One was some kind of sorcerer with demonic looking wings, holding a crystal scythe. Another was a serpent with crystal coming out of her scales, and she was holding a crystal sword. Finally, there was another snake with an incredibly long neck, white scales, and holding nunchucks that were being held together by crystal and lightning.
Wukong then just barely managed to shatter the ice...but the crystal infection was now practically across his entire body, spreading more and more. Wukong's golden eyes started to turn pink and he fell to his knees.
"Hmm...it seems the Crystallization affects him differently." The sorcerer hummed as he flew over to Wukong, grabbing him by his face. "Instead of turning him into a zombie, it just weakens him."
The long necked snake just chuckled. "I have a feeling that he will turn into one of the 'zombiesss' eventually...jussst not yet."
The sword wielding snake just cackled and slithered over to Wukong. "Then, let usss have a bit of fun with thisss ssso called...immortal being."
The others walked over and all raised their weapons over Wukong...until a dark and booming voice spoke.
"General Mechanic! General F! General Aspheera! General Pythor! General Vangellis!" The voice exclaimed. "Leave him...to me..."
The Crystal Council all backed up and then bowed, with the woman from earlier walking beside the leader of it all.
The leader was undoubtedly a demon. He had four arms, gray and golden armor, a horrifying face, and long horns.
The Crystal King walked over to Wukong with a small smirk. "Hello, Sun Wukong..."
Wukong's eyes turned from pink to gold again and he tried to punch him, only for The Crystal King to catch his fist and then twist his arm, breaking it. Wukong screamed and then fell back down.
"Don't even bother, Great Sage." The Crystal King laughed. "My crystals are slowly draining you of your power...your immortality cannot be taken away...at least...for now..."
"W...who...are....y-you...?" Wukong asked as suddenly, the crystal began covering him faster and faster.
The Crystal King smirked. "The one demon king that has defeated you...farewell, Sun Wukong. You will serve me well..."
Wukong's eyes turned pink again as the crystal completely covered his skin...and he blacked out. His body, on the other hand, started to stand up, shifting around like a zombie.
The woman, Harumi, then walked over. "My Lord...why did we go after him anyway?"
"He is one of the most powerful beings in this world." The Crystal King said. "I will take his power so I cannot fail like the previous times...Wukong? Give me your power." He commanded.
Wukong, groaning, suddenly reached his hand towards his chest...and then pulled out a golden orb with a spiral in it.
The Crystal King grinned and then grabbed the orb...and when he absorbed it? He roared as golden energy shot out from his body and into the air. His roaring slowly turned into wicked laughter.
The Crystal Council watched in pure awe before the golden energy stopped...and their king turned to them.
"I HAVE NEVER FELT SUCH POWER BEFORE...BUT I SENSE THERE IS MORE...THIS MONKEY KING IS NOT THE ONLY ONE OF HIS KIND...THE NINJA ARE HERE AND WILL TRY TO STOP ME...DEAL WITH THEM WHILE I FIND THE REST OF THESE PRIMATES..."
