Part 7: Romantic Mysteries and Experiments
Once Unikitty and Hawkodile headed back in, Unikitty commented while rubbing her pretty blue eyes:
Unikitty: My eyes kinda hurt.
Hawkodile: Must be from writing in the dark for so long. You want me to turn on the lights?
He walked over to the light switch and flicked it on.
Hawkodile: That better?
Unikitty blinked a few times to get her eyes adjusted to the sudden change in lighting, and once they were fully adjusted again, she saw Hawkodile standing right next to the switch. His handsome, feathered face swiftly grabbed her attention with the force of about 20 robotic lobster claws. She could almost immediately feel her adorable little kitty face start to glow the same rosy pink color as her ears and her kind, pure heart start pounding in her little feline chest as if it were trying to burst right out. She was so entranced that she didn't even notice the amount of heart-shaped Sparkle Matter accumulating right above her head into one giant pink heart. It quickly got so big that it started falling right down onto Unikitty. Each beat was crushing Unikitty underneath its massiveness and shrinking her down. Luckily, the second that Hawkodile spotted it, he immediately rushed in and punched it into dust. After that, he stretched his arms and flexed his shoulders a little bit.
Hawkodile: You alright, Princess?
Unikitty: Yes!
After nervously blurting this out, she carefully placed her blue and white front paws over her chest to calm the rush of her pure little heart.
Unikitty: Uh, thanks, but I think I'd rather write outside, 'cause it's such beautiful, sunshiney weather out there. Besides, I might as well keep an eye- and an ear- on the moat. Y'know, in case somebody falls into it again.
Hawkodile: Yeah, that's a great idea, Princess.
Unikitty: (blushing a little bit) Th-thanks.
With that, Unikitty got the quill, white inkwell, and journal and went out to the balcony not too far from the treehouse's entrance. Once she got herself comfortably adjusted, she started writing a new paragraph:
Sorry about the delay, Journal. Hawkodile and I got caught up with something. Here's what happened: Ellie was trying to climb up to the treehouse to see if everything's alright (since it was so quiet), but the steps were too small for her feet, so she ended up falling into the moat! Oh, the whole thing was really scary! For a while, I just couldn't help but feel like she was going to sink down to the bottom and stop moving and breathing forever!! That while was a brief one, though, 'cause Hawkodile managed to rush in and save her right in time! Hooray!
Meanwhile, Hawkodile, who was still in the treehouse, thought to himself: Well, as long as I'm up here, I might as well some good training in! I'll probably have to keep the noise down, though. Don't wanna ruin Unikitty's creative flow.
With the thought of working out fresh in his mind, Hawkodile began his typical workout warm-up regimen: getting his muscles (including his glutes) stretched and flexed and then doing about 45-50 push-ups.
Outside, Unikitty couldn't really think of much more to write, so she decided that she was finished. However, just as she was going back into the treehouse to return the journal, she saw Hawkodile still doing his push-ups. She decided that instead of bothering him, she'd continue her writing in the journal, going into a little more detail about the story with Ellie in the moat.
Meanwhile, down in Dr. Fox's lab, the intelligent, orange little vixen had finally managed to move the huge Sparkle Matter heart sample right where she needed it to be. She couldn't start running her experiments on it, however, because she was very sore and exhausted from having to carry a sample so heavy. Usually, she could get Hawkodile (or Ellie if the little elephant happened to be visiting at the time) to handle this kind of heavy lifting, but since neither of them were available at that time, she had to handle all of that lifting herself. This wound up greatly depleting her energy and leaving her little fox muscles very sore and achey.
She lied down on the cold, hard floors of her lab to give her body a little rest. Eventually, she ended up taking a little nap right on that very spot. It was a pretty long nap of about two and a half hours or so. However, as we all know, no nap can last forever. This one came to an end when our favorite little science vixen suddenly a small metal-feeling poke. She slowly opened up her bright green eyes and saw one of her own robots standing right in front of her.
Dr. Fox: Ugh, what happened?
Robot: You were asleep for a few hours.
The robot then turned its attention to his master's large, red sample of heart Sparkle Matter, prompting Dr. Fox to immediately get back to work.
