Back to where you came from
Nine years have passed since she embarked on her travels from home. Now, a full-grown woman in her late twenties with dark brown hair dyed black, and brown eyes, she sports a diamond-shaped face. Her attire includes a leather jacket over a grey sweater and black hiking boots.
Sasha Ross is not a fan of birthdays, except for her older sister's. She is known as Betty Ross, the girlfriend of the Hulk, and works as S.H.I.E.L.D's top scientist alongside the Avengers. Sasha rides her motorcycle to clear her mind from a previous love, but when she sees a man in need, stopping and parking her motorcycle across from him.
Wondered if he was alright, so she turned to walk over to his side to check on him. That's when she noticed he was sleeping, which gave her the opportunity to observe his features. She could see that he had a bit of a tan, and she guessed he might be tall based on his brown leather jacket, which hid his ripped, muscular, broad shoulders. His messy black hair made her feel concerned and stirred a familiar feeling about the man she had just met.
Noting that the man was asleep under a tree, not knowing that he was having a nightmare over an explosion that had happened a year ago; it didn't take long for him to wake up until he was startled when he was met by Sasha's brown eyes, who spoke:
"Calm down, dude." She said calmly, "You look like you had a rough day."
He eyed her suspiciously before he questioned her: "How long were you standing and watching over me?"
"Long enough to park my bike across the road." Both Sasha and Logan stared at one another until it was interrupted when they saw several Recreational Vehicles drive by them, one of which had a little girl in it. They waved to the little girl as the RVs passed:
"What?"
"Oh, nothing, I just didn't expect a guy like you to have a soft spot for kids."
"Har har." Logan sarcastically laughed before he rolled his eyes. Sasha paused and watched him get on his bike, but then she dared to take out her hand and say: "Sasha. Sasha Ross." She introduced herself.
"Logan. Logan Howlett." He returned the gesture with a smile.
"Pretty decent name, I bet." Logan chuckled at her compliment before they decided to ride their bikes together; Sasha, however, nodded and headed to hers as he got on his motorcycle: "Okay, whoever gets to the stop sign first gets to drink 70 beer bottles and send them to the victor."
Both revved their engines and started riding, Sasha smirked and went in front, but Logan didn't care as he punched the gas to be the first to win. By driving past her: "Aish! Come on!" "I bested ya, sweetheart."
"Whatever but if we meet again, I'll make sure you'll be sorry, old timer." All of a sudden, an explosion could be heard from the left, Logan and Sasha turned to see it, "Oh no...we gotta go help them! Nice knowing you!" But she drove off before he could respond and turned away to leave, only halfway away from the stop sign.
The mutant glanced at the rearview mirror, as it showed Sasha driving her bike. Triggering Logan to turn around and follow.
-Sasha's Point of View-:
I had to help those people before anyone could die at the hands of death, I parked and run towards the family looking for their daughter:
"Erica...?! Where's Erica?"
"She's still inside!" the father gasped as he tried to enter the fire, but it exploded, pushing him away. The mother cried in tears when they realized that I was there. "Sasha! How did you get here?"
"No time to explain, but right now, I'll get her back and pray that I can make it out." The comment made Sasha smile and heard:
"Sasha...you've always been a stubborn woman, please get her back." I nodded at her before going in, but I was pulled away by a worker: "Ma'am, it's too dangerous!"
"Out of the way, if you were looking for your child, you would do the same! I angrily told the firefighters off, who got scared of me, which is good as I pushed the hot metal and felt my hands burn slightly, and I hissed in pain:
"Miss, please be careful."
I ignored the pleas and went in search of the parent's child in hopes of saving her on time. It took me 3 hours in the flames, and I started coughing a lot due to the fire and smoke beginning to increase heavily. I, on the verge of passing out, finally spotted the little red-haired girl, rushing to her side to touch her pulse.
Unconscious but alive, a sigh of relief escaped my lips, and I immediately covered her with my leather jacket until I got a slight burn from a small piece of wood and widened my eyes in panic as I hissed in pain before slapping it off only to leave a burn mark on my shoulder:
"Don't *cough* worry, I got you," I told the girl named Erica and held her in my arms before she got burned or died. Without a second thought, I use my concentration to move away from the fallen train, almost getting engulfed by the flames; Trying to find a way out without getting burned or electrocuted since I held a device behind my ear. To ensure herself that it was still placed and safe from harm's way, you all are wondering what it was.
Well, the device is called the mutant protector D5:
This device allows me to be detected as a human, without any form of getting caught by any government officials' robots or the MRD to find out about my mutant abilities. Slowly, I felt weak, and as I mentioned before, the flames began to heavily, and my vision got blurry until I collapsed onto the floor while holding the girl tightly in my arms: 'I may have powers, but I wasn't going to expose myself in the fire with a child wrapped in my jacket. I'm sorry Betty but the end of the line is coming soon.'
The last of my thoughts before closing my eyes to let hell welcome me until a loud grunt came before the familiar man was Logan. He lifted my face before saying: "You're stubborn, aren't ya?" I coughed in response, making the man cover us from the falling burning train and everything went black.
A few minutes passed, and there was no sign of life until the fighters found us. My eyes flutter open a bit to take a glimpse of the people seeing me hugging the girl in my leather jacket as Logan was pulled away from us, I could see Logan burn almost crisp but then, the parents helped me, and I fully recognized them:
"Mommy!" "Erica!" The mother rushes to her daughter's arms with the father as he comes to check on me. "Sasha, Are you okay?"
"Ngh...I'll leave just a burn on my palms and shoulder, nothing good," I responded with a grunt, before coughing a bit of smoke. Erica came out and embraced her dad while he came to help me. "Sasha, thank goodness you're okay?"
"Miss Sasha! Thank you so much for saving me!" Erica smiled and gave me a bear hug. "No problem. Remember I'm responsible for taking care of you as a babysitter." That's right. I am babysitting for this family for two weeks. That's why I'm driving my motorbike; I was invited to tag along. I also get paid either for free or 30 bucks; enough of it.
Erica hands me back my jacket. I place Logan's unconscious head on my lap to help him a bit. Erica's dad comes to help." "We need to move him!" he continued while I put my jacket on his chest to warm him, then shushed Logan. It's okay...listen to my voice and don't give up, okay?"
His blue eyes opened weakly to only meet my brown ones. I could have sworn that his cheeks turned pink, but he rapidly fell asleep. Everyone backed away, not knowing what to do, and I placed a hand on his shoulder, "Stop...please, Randy." I continue in a disappointing tone: "I don't think they want to help him."
He ignored my words and kept asking for assistance again: "What's the matter with you people? Chris, help me out!" A black man named Chris came towards us, helped, and muttered: "Sorry."
Once they lifted Logan up, I followed by putting on my jacket, only to worsen the pain in my arms with my grey sweater, "Take it easy." Chris spoke calmly, watched his girlfriend open a blanket on the ground and place him there while I was fearfully for Logan's safety and felt like my tears could fall right away but kept them in:
"You saved my daughter and Sasha." Erica's father continues saying with sincerity and kindness as I glance at Erica in her mother's arms with worried looks in their eyes to reassure them that Logan is okay, until a fat man I recognize as Carl who started trouble about the MRD being involved, "Are you trying to get THEM into this, Carl? Listen here, you little-"
I get cut off from my anger by Randy saying: "You turn him in, Carl? After what he did?" "He's got razor claws in his hands, Randy. Carl explains, "Haven't you been watchin' the news lately? The MRD has been looking for this one. And your babysitter of a sl*t is caring for him!" "Hey, don't talk that word to Sasha!" Randy's wife pointed at Carl in anger, "Just because she works as a barista and a babysitter, doesn't give you the right to say such things in front of a child."
Both of them stayed determined, as did I, before Randy stood up with a serious gaze while I placed a hand on Logan's cheek to soothe him, letting him go by dashing up and punching Carl hard in the face without hesitation: "Call me that AGAIN, and I'll make sure you die in your sleep, you fat-butt."
No one got near Sasha as she started to bring Logan in the RV, while Chris connected his and my motorcycle to the back as they brought it with them to the summer house.
Inside the RV for a while, Erica handed me some medicine over my half-burned shoulder: "Here you go."
"Thanks." I smiled before we began playing some games of Monopoly on the bus, which was stressful and funny to see her trying her hardest to beat the Monopoly master, "Look, his skin. It's healing." Chris's wife and himself, along with Erica's parents, watch in shock.
