Little Swan dance

JIEUN PUT ALL HER focus on the laptop screen, analyzing the moves that the dancer did. She tried to study the dance move. "This is awesome, " she commented in awe. Meanwhile her eyes were busy looking at every moves, her brain was trying to find any messages that the dancer might try to tell. She focused on his face and tried to find emotions.

She sighed heavily. "Why can't I read his dance? I can't even find any emotions on his face. " She complained. "Should I just ask Namjoon about this? " She asked herself.

"Jieun, what are you doing? " One of her colleagues came into her office. She was startled by her sudden appearance in her office.

"Why didn't you knock the door first? " She crossed her arms, wanting to start lecturing.

"Well, you looked so busy with the laptop. I didn't want to bother you. " Her friend said then put a file on her table. "Here's the document you asked me to take. " She stated.

She looked down at the big file. "Okay, thank you. "

After her working hour has ended, she decided to go to the studio to meet Namjoon. Jimin was probably in a meeting right now so she didn't want to bother him.

"Hello? Can I know where's Namjoon? " She asked one of the staff that works at the studio. The staff looked down at his watch then looked back at Jieun.

"He's still in the meeting. " He answered.

"Meeting? " She mumbled to herself. Seemed like her hope to meet Namjoon can't be fulfilled today.

As she lowered her head, she was about to leave the studio and go home but someone stopped her by holding her arm. Feeling that there was a strong grip on her left arm, she turned her head back to look at the person. "Hi. " Jimin smiled at her.

Couldn't help to not smile at him, her face lightened up once her eyes met his. "Jimin, " she said his name.

The both of them sat on the couch that was placed in Jimin's office. The couch was extremely comfy as she finds that she would sleep on it for the whole night. This was the first time she got into his office. She will only wandering around the studio before. But today, Jimin brought her into his office.

"So who are you looking for? Me or Namjoon? " Jimin looked at her. "Or— Jungkook? " He added.

"Jungkook? Is he working here now? " Jieun asked since she didn't know anything.

Jimin shook his head. "No. But he always come here with Taehyung to meet Namjoon. He will sometimes come here to join the dancing class. " He answered.

"Oh, " she nodded. "Actually I'm here not to meet Jungkook. I want to meet Namjoon. "

"Why? " Jimin was low key wanted to know the reason. "You want to join his class? " He asked with his brows raised.

"Eh, no. " Jieun denied while shaking her head. "I just want him to translate this for me. " She opened her handbag to take out her phone. "Wait. " She asked him to wait for awhile as she unlocked her phone to show him something.

"This, " she depicted him a video of a boy dancing to her favourite song, Little Swan. Jimin watched the video quietly then looked at her. "You always listen to this song. Do you like it? "

"Yes. It's my favourite song now. " She nodded. "Namjoon told me that you love this song too. Isn't it? "

"Yeah. I love it, " he stated. "Because it explains how I feel. " He added. "How about you? Why do you like it? " He changed the topic.

"Because of the melody. I love the melody. It gives me peace, " she simply answered.

"Why do you need Namjoon to translate this for you? This is a korean song. What you don't understand? " He asked, thinking that Jieun didn't understand the meaning.

"No. I understand the meaning. But I want him to translate the dance meaning. I want to know what the dancer feels. Namjoon told me that dancers will pour their souls into dance. But I don't get it. I tried looking at his face for several times. Yet I still don't get what he tried to tell people. " She sighed.

Jimin looked back at the video then back to Jieun. "You just looked at his face? " He asked and she nodded. He breathed. "You won't find anything just by looking at his face. " He said.

"Why? "

"Because they don't show their emotions on their faces. They pour it into their dance. You should had just focus on his moves, not his face. " He corrected her. "They depicted their feelings on the way they dance. "

He replayed the video again then showed her. "Look at the way he moved his legs. You can see that he tried to be a swan. The little swan. "

"It shows that the swan was missing. " He explained.

"Missing from what? " She asked, looking at him and was expecting an answer.

"From something. " He sighed then turned away. "Maybe you can watch it later and translate it by yourself. " He stood up then went to his desk. Even Jieun really wanted him to give her an answer, she didn't bother to ask him to continue because she can sense that Jimin didn't want to continue talking about it.

She sighed. "Okay. Thank you. "

Jimin closed his laptop then looked at Jieun who was waiting for him on the couch. She had almost fall asleep while waiting for him. He promised her to go out for dinner together tonight. But suddenly he got a myriad of works to do and had to make her waits.

He sighed then looked down at his watch. "Jieun, " he shook her shoulder gently to wake her up from her quick nap.

She opened her eyes and yawned softly. "Ready to go now? " He asked.

"Um, " she squinted her eyes. "Sure. "

They walked towards the elevator while talking to each other. "So where are we going to eat? " She asked.

"I don't know, maybe we ca—"

"Sorry for interrupting. But Namjoon wants to meet you. " A male staff suddenly made his way towards us and wanted Jimin to meet Namjoon.

Jimin raised an eyebrow, "But why? " He asked.

"He wants you to watch his students' performance. " The boy answered.

Jimin looked at Jieun, "Are you okay if we watch the performance? " He asked to make sure that Jieun was fine.

She nodded her head excitedly, "Of course. I don't mind. I'm excited to see their performance. " She grinned widely. "Is it fine if I follow you? " She asked.

He chuckled. "Of course. I'm the one who invited you. "

Jimin opened the door and gestured Jieun to get into the room as he held it for her. She smiled at his gentle action then walked into the practice hall. "There he is, " one of the students pointed to our ways but he was pointing at Jimin.

They looked at him then their expressions changed right away due to the nervousness they were feeling. They stood up directly then looked at each other. "We're ready to perform our dance, Mr Park. " The boy said as I assumed him as the leader of the group. He was the only one who was brave enough to talk to Jimin. I didn't know why they seemed somehow scared but I don't think that Jimin is a fierce person.

But who knows right? Maybe he's strict to his students. Jimin crossed his arms then looked at them sharply. "Where's Mr Kim? " He was talking about Namjoon.

"He's on his way here. " The boy answered confidently. After getting an answer from the leader of the group, Jimin glanced at his watch then spotted that he didn't have much time. He had promise to have dinner with Jieun and they can't be late. He sighed then nodded his head.

"Okay then. Let me see your performance. We don't have to wait for Mr Kim. " He told the teens, making them to exchange looks. They were surprised and shocked at the same time, knowing that they had to perform the dance live in front of Jimin without their coach.

They gulped down their saliva then looked at their leader, waiting to hear what he gonna say to Jimin. The boy couldn't deny that he felt so nervous and scared at the same time. But he had to take the challenge. He nodded, but with a little bit of doubts on his face. "Sure, no problem. " He slowly turned his head back then looked at the team. "Let's begin. "

Jieun

The way they moved their bodies had me amazed and lost my words. It was so elegant and absolutely stunning. They ended their performance with such an amazing ending fairy which had make my jaw dropped. I clapped my hands then yelled, "Congrats! "

They appreciated the way I congratulated them. Big smiles were plastered on their faces as the thought of me, a friend of Jimin loved their performance. But once they moved their eyes to Jimin, their smiles dropped and faded right away, making me to look at Jimin as well.

Surprisingly, instead of cheering up for the amazing dance performance, he just kept his straight look on, making the teens to feel down about their dance. They looked down at their shoes and waited for the moment for Jimin to start criticising them. "That's all? " He asked, making me to look at him in disbelief. "You've been practicing for a month and that's all you can give me? " His tone sounded like he was really unsatisfied with the performance. "Unbelievable, " he scoffed.

What?

"If this is what you call as dancing, then you better shouldn't call yourselves as a dancer," his words were harsh. Even I was affected by the thing he said to them. They looked extremely sad by his comment and some of the girls at the back were almost burst into tears.

I pitied them. Jimin crossed his arms then looked at every each of them. "Lack of skills. You guys need more practice. Tell your coach about my comment and ask him to help you improve your skills. I don't want to see my students having just an ordinary skills. " He added then looked at me. "Let's go. " He walked towards the door as he gestured me to follow him.

Before I walked out from the room, I took a last glance of the kids then automatically felt bad after looking at their sad faces. They had give their best. Yet, it still didn't satisfy Jimin. Where was the weakness? The dance was perfect for me. Obviously. Everyone would agree with me. Their 1 month practice isn't a waste for me. It was something impressive.

Some people just love to expect too much from others. Just like my ex, Myundae who loves to expect something too excessively from other people.

At the restaurant

Jimin just acted casually even we didn't talk much in the car. Didn't he notice that I had been ignoring him for the past 30 minutes? Probably.

He looked through the menu while trying to find anything to eat. He then looked up at me then looked back at the menu. "Why with that long face? " He asked, his eyes were still glued on the menu book. I scoffed at how simple he reacted to me then crossed my arms in annoyance.

"Nothing, " I rolled my eyes. He smirked at my answer.

"You're a grown woman, Jieun. Still wanna act like you're 5? Then what should I do? Go buy some candies to convince you? " He laughed. But seeing me didn't react to what he said had make him stopped laughing. He cleared his throat then looked straight at me. "Come on, talk to me. What's wrong? Did I do something? Tell me. I'd fix it, " he told me.

I breathed, trying to find for the best way to tell him what I was feeling. "I don't like the way you treated the teens. " I spoke.

He titled his head with his eyes were still on me. "Tell me why. " He said calmly, be looking like he didn't do anything wrong.

"It was unfair, " I stated. "They practiced for a month, trying to impress you but then you call it as a waste? " I asked in disbelief. "You didn't see how disappointed they were. Even if you don't like the dance, at least say it in a nice way. You made them feel like their efforts are all worthless. " I explained to him why I felt like that.

He listened to me with an expression that I couldn't read. He breathed gently and unexpectedly, what he said next didn't even answer my question nor suitable with the situation. A smile was crept on his sweet face, "You won't understand. "

I gritted my teeth. "Then make me, " I gestured.

We finished eating our food and were making our ways towards his car. He refused to tell me why he treated them that way. And now, I'm refusing to talk to him.

He knew that I was ignoring him. He sighed, "Wanna something else to eat? " He tried to change my mood by offering more food.

I stayed quiet and got into his car. "I'm full, " I didn't look at him.

"Really? " His voice trailed off as he stared at the steering with a blank expression. I know that he was feeling bad because I was ignoring him. In fact, I know that I wasn't supposed to act this way and make him feel bad. But everytime I remember about how he treated the kids had me annoyed. For me, even if he didn't like their performance, he should at least appreciate their efforts.

They tried to do their best. His actions reminded me of how my previous boss used to treat me by rejecting my works without even looking at it. I felt extremely down and worthless. I know how the kids were feeling. Down and worthless.

But looking back at how Jimin reacted, I felt bad for treating him this way. He had been acting so nice towards me. It won't be appropriate if I punish him when he has done nothing wrong to me. I sighed then looked at him again. "I just want to know what made you reject their great performance? I saw no flaws in the dance. What else do you want? Why are you expecting too much from them? They're just a group of teens. " I stated my fact.

"Just a group of teens? " He looked at me as his voice tone changed. I blinked my eyes. "See. You just see them as a group of teens. Not a group of dancers. " He began to speak.

"I acted harsh to them is because I want them to improve their dancing skills. I don't want them to be seen as only a group of teens who are trying to get a platform as a dancer. No. Instead, I want them to be seen as a group of professional dancers with charisma and intelligence. They're a group of dancer with a life motto and they have their own vision. I want them to realize that they're not just a normal group of teens but a charismatic dancers. I want the world to see them as a group with quality and value. Not as just a simple group. They come to my studio to be a good performer. If they think they can take it easily, then I'd better just quit them off from my studio. " He shook his head after stating the real ambition and his hope to the group.

My mouth was shut up after he told me his perspectives. "Being a dancer isn't only to entertain people. It's one of the way we express our feelings, " it was the same sentence Namjoon told me. I was shocked that Jimin would tell me the same thing as well. "We have to show feelings in our dance. Emotions, expressions and charismatic are needed. That's how we can touch people's hearts. " He added.

"So tell me, " he smirked a lil bit as he was looking at me with a pair of sharp eyes. "I know that you were impressed by their dance. But, did it touch your heart? " He asked.

"Did it leave a big impact on you? " He pushed me to answer quickly. I sighed.

"I don't know. " It was my answer. His smirk grew wider but then he turned away from me.

"I told you. " He breathed. "When I told them that they're lack of skills, that means they're failed to show people what they're feeling. I couldn't find any emotions, expression nor feelings in their dance. Yes, I can't deny the fact that they did a great job. But you can't tell me that I'm wrong when I said they've failed. " He explained.

I had never thought that his answer would slap me this hard. I felt kinda surprised but impressed at the same time. I sighed, "I'm sorry. " Yes, it was pretty hard when you have to apologize to someone. It's hard to lower your ego and to say the simple word; sorry. But since it was my fault as I took his actions in a wrong way, so I was the one who had to apologize. It was his way to make sure the teens give their best in expressing their feelings and giving messages.

He smiled after seeing my pouting face and he knew that I was feeling bad and a lil bit of embarrased. He then chuckled softly then said, "Sorry accepted. " He smiled.

"So, do you want some snacks? "
