Start Of Third Person P.O.V
The bustling city lights flickered like distant stars as Dazai walked beside Y/n through the crowded streets. The night air was crisp, and the atmosphere was charged with a subtle tension that seemed to emanate from Dazai. As they strolled along the illuminated pathways, Y/n held her phone to her ear, engrossed in a conversation with her friend Furina.
The soft glow from the screen of Y/n's phone illuminated her features, casting shadows on her face. Dazai stole glances at her, his usually calm demeanor replaced by a flicker of insecurity. Y/n, engrossed in her conversation, remained oblivious to the internal turmoil brewing within Dazai.
"So, Furina,
" Y/n laughed, her voice carrying through the cool night air,
"you won't believe what happened in the latest episode of Demon Slayer, Kimetsu No Yaiba!"
Dazai's ears perked up at the mention of the anime. He tried to mask his interest, feigning disinterest as he looked into the distance, but his curiosity got the better of him.
Furina's voice emanated from the phone,
"Oh, do tell! I've been meaning to catch up on the series. What happened?"
"Well,"
Y/n began excitedly,
"you know Giyuu Tomioka, right? Oh my gosh, Furina, he's just so... amazing. I can't get enough of him! The way he fights demons with that serene demeanor, it's just so captivating."
Dazai's jaw clenched involuntarily, and he fought to maintain his nonchalant facade. A fictional character, Giyuu Tomioka, was seemingly causing a storm of emotions within him.
"Furina,"
Y/n continued, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm,
"I've been binge-watching all the episodes, and every scene with Giyuu just makes my heart race. I wish he were real, you know? It's crazy how a character can make you feel so much!"
Dazai felt a pang of jealousy, an emotion he rarely experienced. He couldn't understand why he cared so much about Y/n's infatuation with a fictional character. Trying to distract himself, he turned his attention to the surroundings, the city lights blurring into a sea of colors.
On the other end of the line, Furina chuckled,
"Well, at least your heart isn't stolen by a real person. Fictional crushes are harmless, right?"
Y/n laughed in agreement, her gaze momentarily shifting towards Dazai. Unbeknownst to her, he was caught in a tempest of conflicting emotions. He knew he had no right to be jealous, yet the feeling persisted, gnawing at the edges of his composure.
As Y/n continued sharing her thoughts on Giyuu Tomioka, Dazai couldn't help but wonder why her affection for a fictional character bothered him so much. Was it the undeniable allure of the unattainable? Or was it the realization that he, a real person with flaws and complexities, couldn't compete with the idealized heroism of Giyuu?
As they approached a dimly lit alley, Y/n's laughter echoed through the night, contrasting sharply with Dazai's brooding silence. Sensing his unease, she shot him a concerned glance.
"Dazai, are you okay?"
Y/n asked, her voice filled with genuine concern.
Dazai forced a smile, dismissing her worries with a casual wave of his hand.
"Of course, Y/n. Just lost in thought, that's all."
The weight of his jealousy lingered, like a shadow refusing to dissipate. Y/n returned to her conversation with Furina, unaware of the storm brewing within her companion.
Furina's voice brought Dazai back to the present.
"Y/n, you're lucky you can indulge in these anime crushes. My heart's stuck in the real world drama, not some fantastical realm."
Y/n giggled,
"True, but sometimes, I wish the real world had a bit of that anime magic, you know? It would make things so much more exciting!"
Dazai couldn't help but roll his eyes at Y/n's whimsical comment. Little did she know, the real-world drama was unfolding right beside her, embodied in the form of her companion, wrestling with emotions he never anticipated.
The trio continued their journey through the city, the conversation shifting from anime to everyday anecdotes. Y/n's laughter resonated like a melodic tune, but for Dazai, it was accompanied by a dissonant note of jealousy.
As they approached Y/n's apartment building, she finally wrapped up her call with Furina. The atmosphere lightened, but the lingering tension between Dazai and his own emotions remained.
"Dazai," Y/n said with a warm smile,
"thanks for walking me home. It's always nice to have some company, especially after a long day."
Dazai nodded, his usual charisma returning,
"Anytime, Y/n. You know I'm always here for you."
As they reached the entrance of the apartment building, Y/n turned to face Dazai.
"Oh, by the way,"
she added, a mischievous glint in her eyes,
"I found this Giyuu Tomioka keychain at the anime store today. I bought it, thinking it would be a cute addition to my collection. Do you want to watch a few episodes with Giyuu in it? Doesn't matter, you're joining me anyway."
Y/n demanded, and drag Dazai into your house, and turn on the television, going over to the anime section, you start watching an episode containing Giyuu.
"I'm bored, since this is boring, can I sleep on your lap? It's looking really comfortable right now!"
Dazai whispered. Y/n sighed.
"Fine, just this once."
She answered. Dazai immediately collapsed into her lap, and relaxed. About two hours later, he woke up, and Y/n looked down.
"Finally awake? Thank kami. I'm kicking you out for the night, I know you have place of your own."
You tell Dazai. He groans and sits up.
"But you're so comfortable! I just want to lay there forever!"
Dazai complained, waving his arms around. You stare at him blankly.
"Dazai. I will lead you to the door. You should go home and rest."
You tell him softly. Dazai reluctantly agrees.
"Fine, see you tomorrow at the Agency.."
He mumbled. You giggled.
"Get home safe, alright? Good night."
You tell him, a smile gracing your lips. Dazai's eyes widened ever so slightly, a mixture of surprise and realization crossing his face. Y/n continued, oblivious to the storm she had unintentionally stirred within him.
With that, Y/n bid Dazai goodnight and disappeared into the building, leaving him standing alone in the quiet night. The jealousy that had simmered throughout their walk now threatened to boil over, fueled by the tangible reminder of Giyuu Tomioka that Y/n carried in her hands.
Dazai wrestled with his emotions, trying to make sense of the irrational jealousy that gripped him. In the quiet solitude of the night, he questioned the roots of his discontent. Was it the fear of being overshadowed by an idealized fiction? Or was it an awakening realization that the boundaries between reality and imagination were not as distinct as he once believed?
As the city hummed with life around him, Dazai found himself grappling with a peculiar blend of emotions — envy, confusion, and a subtle longing. The tale of a 22-year-old man named Dazai, ensnared in the web of his own emotions, unfolded beneath the canopy of city lights and starlit skies.
