We were relaxing after lunch and was sitting on couch near fire place. Samar was in a mood to cuddle so, he hugged me from behind and asked, 'Meera, do you remember our first kiss?'

His question jiggered me. I turned around, our eyes met, we gazed each other for a while and... ... ... burst into fits of laughter. I tried to restrain my laughter and said, 'Mr Samar kapoor, I may forget our first kiss, but you can never, ever forget it.'

Samar as usually smiled his half way smile and said, 'Mrs Meera Kapoor, you are right. Its been fifteen years of our marriage and umpteenth of memories that we have lived together... ... but retention of our first kiss for sure is something to cherish till I live.'

'Really? Was it that good?', I tried to suppress my giggles and asked.

He touched his left cheek, winked his eye and said... ... ...

FLASHBACK

I was feeling jittery. It was the first time I was going to meet him. Ours was just two months relationship and he was insisting me to go on a date for which I was not sure yet. But on his constant nagging and complaints, I told him that I could meet him at my house for which he agreed.

I chose to meet him at my place as I felt it would be safe. After all I was bad in trusting people and would always be suspicious.

My dad was a businessman and mom assisted him in it. So usually I was alone in afternoons. It was already three and he could come anytime so I went inside and changed into denims and tee. I didn't want to give him any wrong idea by wearing fancy outfit.

On the spur of the moment, the bell rang. I felt my throat dry as if I am chocking. I went to kitchen, drank a glass of water in a gulp, took a deep breath and went out to open the door.

There he was, standing with all his charm and mesmerising looks... ... looking at me with his deep green eyes. 'Hey!', he said.

'Hi!', I replied in shaky tone. He was passing his half way smile so I smiled back and said, 'So...'

'So...', he replied in the same tone to tease me.

I was damn queasy and couldn't comply what to say. He might have comprehended my nerves as he seemed amused. Giving a radiant smile he asked mockingly, 'Do you welcome your guests this way, Meera?'

His remark was enough to make me rather comfortable so I smiled and asked, 'Well yeah, that's how I do. Do you know a better way, Samar?'

He laughed wholeheartedly and said, 'Well of course I do sweetheart. Let me show you how to welcome the one you love.', with this he took a step ahead, held me from my waist and looked deep into my eyes. I was appalled by his sudden nearness, my mind was blocked for a second. I was so scared by his gesture that I closed my eyes.

I felt his breath on my face and realised what is going to happen next. I don't interpret what overpowered me, my lack of trust in men or his intimacy at the very first meeting but whatever it was, it gave me mickle of strength that I pushed him back and gave a tight slap on his face.

I was so annoyed at his behaviour that I pointed towards the door and screamed, 'Get out Samar'.

'Meera....I' ... ...

'Get out right now', this time I was so loud that he turned around and left.

PRESENT

He touched his left cheek, winked his eye and said, ' Yes Meera! It was so good that it left an impression not only on my cheek ... ... but also on my heart and soul. After that kiss... or should I say that slap, I was determined that I don't want you just as a girlfriend or a teenage fling... ... I want you as my better half, my wife.'

With these words, he took me in his warm embrace and kissed me, assuring me that he is and always be there for me.
