Kavya was a working woman and had a hectic schedule. Her neighbours and relatives would always point her out for not spending healthy time with her kids. Some even used to doubt her parental skills.

It was her husband's birthday but he had to go out of town for some important work and was to come back in the evening.

She and her kids had planned a surprise family dinner. She had already decided the menu, all the favourite dishes of her hubby.

Being a health conscious and fitness freak, she knew how much her hubby despise outside food so she had planned to cook everything home, with her kid's help.

Her kids were so delirious, that they are going to assist her in cooking. They had already started debating on who will cook what.

Every morning, her husband would wake up at five to make tea for everyone but as it was his special day, she woke up at 4:30am to make the tea. Kids woke up too as they had baked a cake the previous night and wanted to surprise their dad.

They set the dinning area with tea, cake and cards that kids had made and woke him up.

He was so astonished as well as delighted to see the surprise. He cut the cake and thet all chatted along.

Meanwhile, Kavya got a WhatsApp message, so she picked her mobile to check. It was an update on her School Staff group...... and when she read the message, her happiness faded away.

She informed her kids about it and they too looked sombre. Their plan of surprise family dinner was despoiled.

Her hubby asked her the reason of her faltered mood so she had to tell him about their plan and the change in it.

He was happy that kids wanted to surprise him but he smiled and assured kids that it's fine and he will manage with the hotel food for a day. He handed some cash to her daughter, Angel and told her to order pizza in the evening as he and Kavya would be coming back late. He also told Kavya not to invite anyone as they won't have enough time to manage home.

We all got ready for the day and got to work.

Almost 6:30 in the evening, her hubby picked her up from her school. On the way, she bought sweets, chocolates and ice-cream for kids to cheer their dropped down mood.

Almost at 7:00, they reached home. They didn't know that a pleasant surprise was awaiting.

When they entered the house, their kids told them to close their eyes. Her son held their hands and guided them inside and almost after a minute, he told them to open their eyes.

When they opened their eyes, they were astounded with what they saw. Her parents, in laws and her kids were standing near the dinning table which was set aesthetically with scrumptious looking food and mouth watering aroma.

Her kids had a warm and glistening smile on their faces. She raised her brow sceptically to ask her daughter about the dinner.

Her daughter said,' Mom, who says that its only a mother's duty to cook for family? You and dad work for us, day and night, to shower us with all the world's happiness and comfort. We just wanted to thank you for whatever you do for us.'

' I could see how much you were disheartened in the morning about this family dinner and we wanted you both to be happy. So Mann and I cooked this meal to tell you both that we love you. It might not be very tasty as yours but we have made it by heart.'

Kavya could no longer hold her emotions. She looked at her daughter with teary eyes and hugged her.

'Mom, its not fair. She was not the only one who cooked. Infact I was the head chef.', Mann added, showing fake anger.

She laughed wholeheartedly and hugged them both feeling contented as well as euphoric. The saplings that she had grown years back and had nurtured with affection and care, have started bearing sweet fruit.

'Her parenting for sure has nurtured her kids into a good human.'

Sorry for the late update. This week was damn hectic but finally I've managed. I am soooo exhilarated as winter break is approaching, which means...more updates for you.
