*Shadow's POV*
I looked down at my hands as reality hit me. I kissed Sonic, I kissed him! How could I have done that!? I looked at Rouge and walked to her, then grabbed her shoulders as I growled furiously.

"What the hell is going on with me?" I snapped. I was mentally panicking, so confused about why I was acting the way I was.

"What is wrong with you?" Rouge pushed me away, confused. "Take a deep breathe Hun." She said softly.

"I need to talk to the two of you." We both turned to look at Rose, who looked scared. "In private."

"I don't have time for you, brat." I rolled my eyes. The fox ran to the echidna to help him get back up, and then they both left, realizing this was none of their business. "I've got better things to worry about."

"It's about what's going on with you, Shadow." She said, getting my attention in an instant. I turned to face her, then crossed my arms. I was furious at everyone and myself.

"What do you mean, Amy?" Rouge asked.

"I know why Shadow is acting this way. Why he kissed Sonic, why he suddenly doesn't hate him." She started.

"It doesn't take much to figure out Shadow likes Sonic." Rouge shrugged. I glared at her. I didn't like him, I couldn't like him. I couldn't stand being around him.

"It's not real." Rose said with her ears lowered.

"What do you mean?" Rouge asked, confused.

"What he's feeling is not real." She said again.

"Spit it out, Brat!" I snapped. Getting annoyed, she wasn't getting to the point fast enough.

"Okay. Long story short. I bought a love potion for Sonic not long ago. I was planning on using it on him when we went out to eat, but I never got to. Instead, Sonic thought it was a water bottle, and he gave it to -" I interrupted. The dots connect in my head.

"HE WHAT?" I was looking at her with a death glare. My fists clenched, and the urge to kill her right this moment.

"Sonic gave Shadow a love potion by accident?" Rouge asked calmer than I was. She softly laughed, taking this as a damn joke.

"It's why Shadow is acting the way he is when Sonic is around. I told Sonic about it a couple of hours ago, and he was going to go talk to the lady and figure out what we could do to reverse it, but then the fight happened." She explained again. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. This is all my fault."

I was furious. I wanted to say something, but I knew I shouldn't knowing how pissed off I was. She's a psycho! Why would she try to give someone a love potion? Pathetic!

I tried to calm myself down, but nothing was working. "Where is the store?" I said through gritted teeth.

"I don't think it's a good idea to be around Sonic while the potion is still in effect. You'll just keep acting that way as long as he is around." She reminded me.

"Where is the damn store." I raised my voice. She tensed up, and she showed me the address, which I quickly wrote down on the communicator.

However, before I could even leave, I turned to see Sonic already back. I couldn't help but take a step closer to him, no matter how much I was fighting back since I already knew the truth. I couldn't help it.

*Sonic's POV*
"I went to the store, and it was closed." I said, realizing Shadow and Rouge already knew what was going on. I blushed lightly when Shadow walked to me and reached for my hand. "I-I asked around, and they said that lady wouldn't be back for another two days."

"Shadow? Hun? Maybe I should take you to your home?" Rouge said as she noticed Shadow grabbing my hand and causing me to tense up. I wasn't sure what to do. I knew this wasn't Shadow. I knew underneath the potion. He must want to kill me now that he knew the truth.

"I'll break your arm." Shadow threatened her. My ears perked up, and I softly and nervously laughed.

"It's okay, Rouge. As long as he doesn't kiss me again, I think I am fine." I smiled, but I was actually very afraid.

"Suit yourself. I'm glad to know Shadow wasn't having some kind of stroke, at least." Rouge joked.

"Are you sure you'll be okay with him?" Amy asked, and I shrugged, then nodded slowly.

"I should enjoy the moments he's not growling at me, shouldn't I?" I chuckled softly. Amy and Rouge shared a look of concern, but in the end, they nodded and left.

Now, it was just me and Shadow.

"Okay, Shadz. You're aware this is just the love potion causing you to feel this way, don't you?" I asked, and he rolled his eyes. "Still with the attitude, that's fun." I chuckled.

"Have you eaten?" He asked, taking me off guard.

"We can not go out like this. It will be all over the news." I reminded him. "I can take you home."

"No. I need to make sure you get home safe, Hedgehog." My ear flickered at that, and I smiled.

"I think you've done a pretty good job trying to protect me today. I mean." I pointed at the pile of what used to be Metal. "I'm safe enough." Shadow didn't react. He didn't budge either. "Okay. You can walk me home if that makes you feel better."

And he did.

He walked me all the way home, never letting go of my hand once. It felt strange to have Shadow acting this way. All I could do was play along and enjoy these quiet moments between us, knowing our "friendship" would be ruined after this.

So when Shadow and I finally reached my home, and he leaned in to kiss me, I figured there was nothing else to lose.

I kissed my rival.

Again.
