*Sonic's POV*
"Sonic!" I turned when I saw Amy shouting my name. She ran to me faster than I had ever seen her run, then picked up the bottle I had given Shadow. "Did you drink this?" She asked, shocked.

"Uhm. No. I'll buy you another water later, Shadow tried a chili dog and it was too spicy for him so I gave him that." I explained, confused. "What's wrong?"

"Shadow drank this?" Amy looked at Shadow, so I did as well, only to notice him staring at me.

"Yo, Shadz. Everything good?" I snapped my fingers in front of his face. His ears perked up, and he cleared his throat. Then he sat up straight and looked away.

"Yeah. Fine." Shadow stood up, and without anything else to say, he chaos controlled away. We both looked at Rouge, who looked rather annoyed at the way Shadow left.

"He couldn't have taken me with him? We are going to the same place." Rouge crossed her arms, and as if on queue, Shadow appeared behind her, then grabbed her wrist and disappeared into this air once again.

"Well. I was expecting him to get mad at me or something. That was strange." I shrugged and grabbed my chili dog, then started eating calmly. "What did you bring to drink?" I looked up only to see Amy drop herself into her seat. She looked horrified. "Amy? What's going on?"

She blinked and then snapped out of her trance. "Me? Nothing. Nothing is wrong." She looked down at her food and then took a bite, I could hear her tapping her foot on the ground under the table. Something was wrong, but if she didn't want to tell me, I couldn't get it out of her by force either. I will just have to wait until she decides to talk to me.

"Right." I nodded and kept eating.

I spent the rest of the day with Amy. She kept looking around wherever we went. I wasn't sure what she was scared of or what she may be looking for, but she seemed afraid. Worried, maybe?

"Amy, what is going on? You've been acting strange for hours now." I said as we walked out of a store. She had dragged me to go with her shopping. I carried her bags as we walked.

"There's nothing -" We both stopped in our tracks when we heard our communicators start to ring. We looked down to see Tails' face pop up.

"Guys. Knuckles and I found Eggmans base. We followed one of his robots to it when we saw it carrying a chaos emerald. We can't let Eggman have it. He will have 5 in his possession if we don't take it away." His face went away, then a picture of a map showed up. "I sent the location where Knuckles and I are at. Please be here soon." The screen went black.

I watched as Amy summoned her hammer and then nodded at me. I dashed to Amy's house, left her bags outside, then dashed back and picked up Amy as I kept running in direction to where Tails and Knuckles were at.

"Finally." Knuckles whispered as we all hid behind some trees.

*Shadow's POV*
[Earlier That Day]
"Whats the matter with you, Hun?" Rouge asked as I let go of her wrist and walked to my desk.

"Nothing." I sat down and started going over the paperwork I had to do for G.U.N.

"Nothing?" Rouge asked. I wanted to snap at her, tell her to shut up, but my mind seemed to be elsewhere. "You forgot about me and just left."

I had left so quickly that I did forget about her. I don't know what had gotten over me that all the sudden anger I had towards Sonic seemed to just completely disappear. I knew I was staring at him, but I couldn't help it. His smile was captivating, his laugh too, his carefree attitude while annoying was something I really liked about him.

I felt myself get nervous, I felt my hand about to move to reach for him until he snapped me out of it. Why was I acting this way? Why couldn't I get him out of my head?

Why was it that all I was thinking now was being around him? Being close to him?

This isn't me. I know it is not.

Now that I was away from him, my mind seemed to clear. I was able to think of what I had nearly done. I almost held his hand. I almost let him close to me. Just what the hell was I thinking?

"Shadow?" Rouge took a step closer to me and touched my shoulder, causing me to grab her wrist forcefully and almost twist. My ears perked up, and I let go of her. "Geez! Shadow! What is the matter with you?"

"Nothing!" I snapped, then rubbed my face. "I have a lot of work. And so do you." I pointed out and sighed as I walked back to my desk.

Later during the day, we received a call from Miles, and it didn't take us long before we arrived, only to realize that Sonic was already there with that pink hedgehog who liked him so much. She was so annoying, I can't believe she actually thinks she has a chance with him. 

"Sonic?" I called out when I realized he was about to start running into danger without a plan. Everyone, including Sonic, turned to look at me, both confused and utterly shocked.

"Did you just -?" He shook his head. "Yes? Shadow?" Sonic stopped in his tracks as he looked at me completely lost.

"We need a plan, or you'll just get yourself killed." I said calmly, taking a step closer to him.

"You're -" Sonic stopped. "Worried about me?"

"I am."

What is wrong with me?!
