As Rose stood outside the heros house, holding the potion in her coat pocket, she was starting to wonder if she should go through with her plan. She tried to tell herself that it was just for Sonic to realize how he truly felt about her. She tried to convince herself that it was for the best for the two of them. But even she had her doubts if she should really continue with her plan. It wasn't ethical, after all.
The potion will make Sonic fall for her instantly, but is that really what she wanted? Force him to love her? Spend the rest of her life with someone who may have only loved her because she forced him to? Is that what she really wanted?
"Ames?" The pink hedgehog looked up when the door opened. "Did you knock? I didn't hear anything."
"No. I was about to. I was wondering if you wanted to accompany me out for lunch?" Amy asked her crush while making sure the potion was still in her pocket, not visible to him.
"Sure. I can go for a bite. Where are we going?" The hero walked out of his house and closed the door behind him, then walked beside his friend. A girl he knows has feelings for him but always decided to do nothing about it. If the hero was being honest with himself, he wasn't sure if he felt the same way for her, he's been in love before and knew the feelings he had for Amy were not close to the ones he had for a certain someone years ago.
"We can go get your favorite, chili dogs." Rose smiled as she walked side by side her crush. The smile he gave her only made her heart melt even more. Finally, making the decision to go through with her plan.
"I was hoping you'd say that." The hero let out a soft chuckle as he walked with his hands behind his head, carefree as always. "So, what you been up to, Ames?"
"Me? Oh. I've been hanging out with Cream and Vanilla. Cream says she wants to open a bakery someday, so we are helping her better her skills." The pink hero said with a smile, her attention stuck on Sonic.
"I haven't seen Cream in a while. I should pay her a visit soon." Sonic started humming as they now walked in silence, the hero enjoying the cold breeze that finally hit their small town.
When the two reached the small fast food place, the azure one was first to reach the door, opening it for his friend. Although he knew he didn't feel the same way she felt for him, he felt bad and always ended up doing something that made her believe he did. He had been so afraid to tell her that he just never did. And if he could avoid it, he would.
"2 chili dogs and a burger, please." Amy decided to order for them while it was Sonic that paid. When they got their food, they walked out and started heading to the park. It had become a habit for their group to eat at a specific table at the park, so it wasn't a surprise when they got there, and Shadow was sitting in front of Rouge.
"Went out for lunch too, huh?" The azure one spoke as he sat beside his rival. Ignoring the eye roll the ebony one gave when he saw him.
"Sonic, Amy. Out on a date? How scandalous." Rouge rested her head on her palm while looking at the two of them. Rose sat beside the bat and placed the food down in front of them, blushing slightly at what her friend had just said.
"Nothing like that. We were just hungry and decided to grab a bite together." Amy said while grabbing the burger she ordered after taking off her coat and placing it on the empty space on the table.
"What is that?" Shadow asked when the hero beside him grabbed his own food. The smell of the spice hitting Shadow instantly.
"A chili dog?" Sonic said, confused as he showed his food to his rival. "Don't tell me you've never tried one before."
"We forgot to get drinks." Amy sighed, ignoring the two of them, knowing better than to interrupt them when they were not fighting. A moment of peace which Rouge and Amy knew never lasted long when they were near each other.
"I need to go get one too. I'll go with you." Rouge said while standing up. The pink one nodded and followed her friend to a corner store, where they both promised to come back soon.
"Try it." Sonic asked, pushing the food closer to Shadows face.
"Get that away from me." Shadow rolled his eyes and pushed Sonics arm away from him, not being able to stand spicy food.
"I will not stop bothering you until you try this." The hero promised. "Come on. You have to. Please." Sonic nudged Shadows' side, causing the ebony one to tense up and shoot him a death glare. "Come on. One bite. Please. Just one." The hero kept repeating himself over and over again until his rival finally had enough.
"Chaos. Fine!" Shadow slammed his hands on the table, causing Sonic to flinch ever so slightly then smile and moved the food closer to him again. Shadow was hesitant. He looked at the food as if the thing would cause his own death. He remained quiet, then finally picked up the chili dog and took a bite.
His ear twitched once, then twice, then the spice really set in. He put the chili dog down and then spat out what was still left in his mouth. He grabbed the water bottle that was in front of him and downed it instantly, but the spice was still stinging his tongue. The hero laughed, then realized how furious his rival looked and decided to help him.
He looked around until finally he spotted it. A small glass bottle in Amy's coat. He grabbed it and opened it, then handed it to Shadow.
"Drink it. I'll buy Amy another water later." The hero said as calmly as he could although he was trying his hardest not to continue laughing.
Shadow growled at Sonic then snatched the bottle away from him, and drank all of it instantly. The sting on his tongue finally settling down as he placed the glass bottle down. He sighed and looked up to see the hero. To his surprise, he no longer felt angry at him.
