Twenty Five
"We actually have to do something," said Jesper.
"I know, Jesper! Wait, let me think of something!" I slightly shouted out of frustration.
Ugh, seriously? So, apparently, I can't even step foot into my own parents' company because I don't have some stupid Identity Card. Like, seriously, why is this even a thing? All I want is to see my dear parents, is that too much to ask for? And now, I'm completely clueless about what I'm supposed to do. This is beyond frustrating!
As my gaze shifted from left to right, and from up to down, my eyes were on a quest. What was I searching for? An inspiration to step foot into the premises of my parents' company, which was essentially my own company as well. Fixated on the building, I eventually glanced back at the road. A surge of excitement coursed through me as my eyes were suddenly illuminated with the solution to our predicament. Without a doubt, I could see it clearly.
"There it is," I said.
"Where? And what?" Jamie inquired.
"Our chance!" I said while pointing out at the huge blue truck.
"트럭?" Seon raised his eyebrows. (Truck?)
I nodded and giving him a smirk.
"It's not 'JUST' a truck! It's a truck on Verdura company which now is going in the company." I elucidated.
"Are you saying, that we will seek in the company through that truck?" Jesper asked.
"Yeah, isn't it a great idea?" I replied.
"You sure?" Nam Seon Ho badgered.
"Yes! Can you see any other way?"
Seon Ho shook his head as a 'no.'
"Exactly."
I had reached my breaking point. The constant worry about my parents consumed my thoughts, leaving me frustrated beyond measure. Day and night, I wondered about their well-being. Are they still alive? The uncertainty gnawed at me, driving me to the edge. I couldn't bear this burden any longer. I was unsure if the path I was taking to find them was right or wrong. However, one thing was clear - I couldn't afford to sit idly in a corner, wasting precious time shedding tears. I had to put in the effort, take risks, and search for them. I knew deep down that if I chose to wallow in sorrow, I would regret it later. My love for my parents compelled me to keep going.
I swore.
"갑시다," I instructed. (Let's go.)
I took a step forward but stopped, when I felt something on my hand-
It was Jesper holding my hand, stopping me to go further.
"What are doing?" I asked.
"See, I understand that you are worried about your parents and you want to meet them as soon as possible but, in this frustration, you must not take a wrong move." Jesper suggested.
"I agree with Jesper." Jamie added.
"Then, what? What are we supposed to do? Sit here? 'Cause that's useless!" I Snickered.
Jesper inhaled a deep breath and then, spoke.
"Okay."
I smiled at his acceptance.
Fortunately, the truck driver abruptly halted the vehicle, driven by an inexplicable desire to engage in a brief exchange with one of the laborers toiling away at the company. With the truck's sudden cessation, we cautiously advanced towards it, adopting an air of nonchalance so as not to arouse any suspicion. Methodically, we closed the distance, inching closer to the colossal machine. Upon reaching its side, we stealthily ascended, one by one, onto its sturdy frame. Seon Ho, our leader, swiftly commanded us to lower our heads, concealing our presence from prying eyes.
"I have never done anything like this, before." Jamie whispered.
"Do you think that anyone of us had done this before?" Seon Ho asked.
I was happy because I could feel that the second part of our mission.. mission? Yeah, that's actually a great word for this! So, our second part of the mission was going to get accomplished. As our first part was to find the company.
The echoes of the driver's forceful slam against the driver's seat door reverberated through the stillness, sending shivers down our spines. With each attempt, the starter motor strained and groaned, desperately trying to ignite the dormant engine. The tension in the air was palpable as we held our breath, waiting for a sign of life. Suddenly, a hiss escaped from beneath the front seats, like a sinister whisper from the depths of the truck. And then, with an agonizing slowness, the truck began to inch forward, as if possessed by an unseen force.
"We are reaching close the security check." Jesper reminded and we all nodded.
We laid flat in the surface of the truck and covered ourselves with some bushes or green leaves which were present on the truck.
"I seriously hope that we are not caught." I prayed.
"This is insane!" Seon Ho whispered while widening his eyes.
Seon Ho and Jesper lay side by side on the cold, metallic surface of the truck, their eyes fixated on the minuscule 1.5 centimeter hole that offered them a glimpse of the world outside. Through this narrow opening, they witnessed the unfolding events with a mix of anticipation and thrill. Their hushed whispers and occasional gasps of astonishment echoed in the confined space, as if they were savoring every moment of this dangerous escapade. Surprisingly, I found solace in their camaraderie, for it was a rare sight to witness Seon Ho and Jesper getting along so effortlessly. In the midst of this perilous journey, their newfound bond brought a glimmer of hope, overshadowing any concerns I may have had.
"Okay, now everyone shut your mouths! We are the security checking." Jesper said in a hush tone.
As we approached the security check, a wave of unease washed over me. My heart raced like a runaway train, drowning out all other sounds. Each breath felt like a burden, the weight of our situation pressing down on us. Jamie's sweat soaked through her shirt.
It's the fear we had, it's the fear from which we were fighting from. It's the challenge, it's life.
The security guards came and started talking to the driver.
"What's in the truck?" A security guard asked strictly.
"Some plants that are supposed to be tested by the company."
"Plants?"
"Yes, sir." Driver replied.
"Mostly, Chwinamul, the leaves of wonchuri."
"You mean, wild aester and the leaves of daylily?"
Oh, that is why this place smells like flowers.
"Yes!"
"Security guards, go and check the truck."
Oh, no!
As we embarked on our covert mission, the security guards swiftly climbed into the spacious truck. Its elongated frame provided ample room for us to discreetly position ourselves just behind the driver's and passenger's seats. With bated breath, we observed the guards scanning the surroundings, their hands deftly brushing against the foliage. A surge of relief washed over me as I realized our luck was favoring us today; the security guard, unaware of our presence, did not venture towards the rear of the truck where we lay concealed.
We were safe!
I was happy, we all were happy. Why not? We successfully entered the building!
"Thank God, we entered in here safely." Jamie thanked.
"Yeah, whose idea was it?" I flipped my hair.
"Yours!" Seon Ho mumbled.
Everything was fine, until we reliased that the truck didn't stop at the entrance! Then, where was it going?
