Jesper

"YEHA FAINTED!" I screamed and then later started sobbing. My hot tears streamed down my cheeks. I could feel my throat drying up and now I couldn't even say a word. My heart ached when I saw her lying unconsciously in my arms, I was worried and just couldn't help it and let my tears roll down my cheeks.

I glanced up at Jamie, who was by the white window, urgently calling for the ambulance. A moment later, after the call ended, I asked her while shuttering "Is- is the ambulance com- coming here?"

"예," she replied nervously. (Yes)

After some time had passed, the sound of the approaching ambulance reached our ears. Without hesitation, I gently cradled her in my arms and proceeded towards the ambulance.

Jamie and I found ourselves seated together on the bus. As I gazed at Yeha, tears welled up in my eyes. In a soft voice, I whispered, "Yeha, please forgive me."

I found myself at a loss, unsure of what actions to take or thoughts to entertain. My mind was void of any ideas, except for one pressing concern: Yeha's well-being. "Will Yeha be alright? I cannot afford to lose her." I mumbled.

I trembled with anticipation, hoping that she would awaken. I continued to shake her vigorously, and then exclaimed, "Come on! Please, wake up."

I shook her, but no response.

My mind was filled with a whirlwind of thoughts. Yes, her health, her life, and her presence consumed my every waking moment. Fortunately, we soon reached the Hospital.

"의사? Doctor? It's an emergency!" I screamed worriedly. (Doctor?)

"Doctor??" Jamie screamed too.

"예?" (Yes?)

In his forties, the man had a few small wrinkles on his fair skin and curly hair. What stood out the most was the white coat he was wearing, with a stethoscope hanging around his neck. Clearly, he was the doctor!

"Doctor, she fainted!" I declared while pointing out at Yeha.

"Let me examine her first before we proceed with our next course of action."

The doctor brought her along, while I remained outside in the hallway with Jamie.

As a tear trickled down my cheek, I found myself overwhelmed with emptiness, berating myself for allowing Yeha to consume such an excessive amount of alcohol.

I knew that if something happens to her then I will never be able to forgive myself.

I bit my lip and was disappointed by myself.

A moment later Yeha's parents 'Moon-sik and 'Moon Hyewol'
arrived at the hospital.

"Who informed them?" I asked.

I am aware that Yeha's parents should be by her side, knowing what has happened to their daughter. However, how can I possibly face them and confess that it is my fault that she is enduring such pain?

"I called them." Jamie replied.

"Oh."

As I observed, they were rushing anxiously through the hallway. The anguish in their eyes was unmistakable, and what troubled me was that I was the cause of their distress.

"Why?" I asked myself, I could have stopped her. Just a little force and she would listen to me.

After a while, they emerged and began yelling at us, particularly targeting me. They questioned, "Why have you done this to our daughter? What harm has she or we ever caused you? What is her wrongdoing?" Their inquiries persisted.

"I can't believe our daughter never drank alcohol. I'm sure you must have pressured her into it, which is why she's in this condition. What kind of friends are you? How can you not care about your own friend?"

"We didn't mea-" I was just about to complete my explanation when they abruptly interrupted me, stating, "We have no interest in hearing your unnecessary excuse."

I asked the doctor right away, "What happened to her, doctor?" We had been silent until he came out.

"She drank an excessive amount of alcohol, resulting in the expansion of her blood vessels. This led to a decrease in her blood pressure, ultimately causing her to faint." The doctor replied.

"How is she now?" Her mom asked.

"She is currently in a stable condition, although she is currently unconscious. However, she is expected to regain consciousness by tonight. Therefore, I recommend admitting her to the hospital tonight and discharging her tomorrow morning." The doctor explained.

"Thank you, doctor"

"Mention not!"

The doctor took a few steps forward before turning back and saying, "I neglected to mention that there are certain medications she must take daily for at least a week."

"Oh! Okay, doctor" replied Mr.Moon.

"Why are you even sitting here? For what? Just to see my daughter in pain? Please get out of here and never show your ugly face to her." Mr.Moon insulted.

"Jamie, let's move." I asserted.

The request for us to depart was made, yet I? I had no desire to part ways with Yeha; I wished to remain by her side. Especially during her moments of struggle, I longed to offer my support.

"Hmm." she uttered.

I was walking through the corridor and only thinking about Yeha and cursing myself as I knew I am responsible for Yeha's condition today. "If anything happens to Yeha, I will kill myself." I decided. "I can't live without her, I can't imagine my life without her!"

Dohyun, unaware of the extent of my suffering, would likely brush off my feelings as excessive. He doesn't understand the overwhelming pain of watching someone you deeply care for lose consciousness in your arms. He doesn't comprehend the agony of seeing the person you love lying still in a cold hospital room, all because of your actions. In my daydreams, Yeha and I were meant to have a joyful life together. I long for more than just fantasies; I yearn for our dreams to become real and tangible. This cannot stay as a mere product of my imagination.

I sat in my car with Jamie and started driving back home. "Jesper!" Jamie screamed as I almost hit the blue car which was right in front of us.

"Oh! I am sorry!" I apologised to Jamie.

"Sorry? You know we both could have died!" She reminded.

"We would have died?" I asked and took a deep breath.

"What about Yeha?, Jamie aren't you Yeha's bestfriend? And it seems like you don't care about her!" I almost screamed at her.

"I do care about her but that doesn't mean that I would die too!" Jamie answered.

"I would die for her" I mumbled under my breath.

"What did you just say?" Jamie asked.

"Nothing" I replied.

My heart raced as we finally arrived home! Jamie was absolutely right, I should have been more focused on my driving, but my mind is consumed by thoughts of that one extraordinary individual. I simply can't resist it-

"Jesper, what do you want to eat?"

"Nothing Jamie, I am not in a mood of eating anything"

"Oh! Okay"

I entered my room and immediately stretched out on my bed. As I lay there, my gaze fixated on the ceiling fan, memories flooded my mind.

--A few years back in a carnival--

"Aww Jamie! Look at that cute toy fan, it just looks so cute" Yeha expressed.

"It's just a toy fan!" Jamie replied annoyingly.

She seemed utterly overjoyed just by looking at that fan. Should I get it for her?

"Do you like it?" I asked.

"예!" Yeha replied. (Yes!)

"Then, I'll buy it"

"Really?" Yeha asked.

"예," I happily replied. (Yes!)

"Thanks a lot, Jesper!!" Yeha screamed.

---Present---

That day was filled with so much joy for me. Seeing Yeha incredibly happy because of something I did made it unforgettable. I'll always cherish that memory.

As I was casually scrolling through my phone, I stumbled upon Dohyun's (my best friend's) number, triggering a sudden rush of memories flooding my mind.

"Hey guys! Are you down to play truth or dare?" Dohyun asked.

"Sure" I and Seon Ho replied.

"Okay, I will turn the bottle" Dohyun declared.

Truth or dare? Intresting. Let's give it a try.

"Alright!" I agreed.

The bottle spins around and comes to a halt, with its cap facing me, signaling that it's my turn.

"Truth or Dare?" Seon Ho asked.

"Truth!" I answered.

"Who's your crush?" Dohyun immediately asked.

"Umm." I hesitated.

"Bro, just say it!" Seon Ho encouraged me to answer.

"Moon Yeha." I uttered making both of them silent.

"Oh! I mean not a bad choice, she is pretty!" Dohyun expressed.

"I know! bro, let's continue." I replied.

The fact that except from them, no one else knows that I still like her.

I was searching through my closet for something cozy to wear tonight when I stumbled upon this pink hoodie.

---Two years ago---

"Happy Birthday to you Jesper!, Happy Birthday to you!" Yeha sang.

"Thank you Yeha!" I thanked her for the amazing surprise she gave me.

"Where is my gift?" I asked curiously.

"Umm, I forgot!" She said nervously.

God, I was dying to see Yeha's gift!

"Oh, it's okay." I comforted her.

It's just a gift! Not as valuable as Yeha.

"Ha! I was joking" Yeha exclaimed.

"Check your room!" She instructed.

"My room?" I asked being confused.

I hurriedly dashed to my room and spotted a present covered in white wrapping paper. I swiftly went closer and ripped open the packaging. "Oh, a pink hoodie?" I exclaimed.

"You don't like it?" Yeha asked curiously.

I

n the past, I had a strong dislike for the color pink, but I have a sense that it is soon going to become my latest fascination!

"아니요, I love it" I answered. (No,)

"Why are you lying Jesper? I know that you don't like the colour pink." Jamie interrupted.

Ahh, this girl!

"But, I really love this one and anyways, choices aren't always based on colours." I explained.

Damn, I am proud of myself for saying that.

"Okay." Jamie said and walked away.

"Jesper, I can replace the hoodie with a colour of you choice." Yeha declared.

"No need, this one is picked by you and I like it so, why do we need to replace it?" I explained.

---Present---

"I guess, I will wear this hoodie and sleep today." I talked to myself and I fell asleep.

I rose from my slumber and made my way to the bathroom. Gazing into the mirror, I beheld my countenance. A reflection of weariness, a shadow of vibrancy lost, and an expression of discontent.

Dull. Faded. Unhappy.

We hurriedly put on our clothes and dashed to the hospital to see how Yeha was doing. We had to get there and leave before her parents showed up.

We reached there and saw--
