NINETEEN ( Seon Ho's point of view)
"A DAY WITH HER!"
I found myself playing the role of the gracious host, welcoming the guests who were arriving at my parents' 20th anniversary celebration. Although I arrived a tad late, it was because I had been engrossed in arranging the decorations. I proudly informed my parents that, since it was their special day, I had taken charge of ensuring the decorations were just as they had envisioned.
I've made up my mind to go with a black and white theme for this party because, well, why not? I've let everyone know that they should dress in either black or white, except for Yeha.
After warmly welcoming all my guests, I glanced around to ensure the party was running smoothly. However, my heart skipped a beat when my eyes landed on her - a stunning woman donning a vibrant red and pink dress that exuded sensuality. Amidst the sea of monochrome attire, she stood out like a luscious raspberry, tempting and irresistible. I yearned for her to face me, longing to catch a glimpse of her captivating beauty.
In a matter of seconds, she finally pivoted and locked eyes with me, fulfilling my longing for her attention. But what I witnessed left me utterly astounded, for it was none other than my dearest friend, Yeha. She appeared absolutely captivating. Her luscious curls cascaded gently over her face, teasingly concealing a fraction of her visage. The dress she wore, though slightly revealing, clung to her every curve, accentuating her allure. Her eyes, shaped like delicate almonds and her lips which were heart-shaped, adorned with a seductive shade of crimson, added an extra touch of allure to her already mesmerizing appearance. She was flawless, an embodiment of perfection. Once again, the realization struck me with an overwhelming force - if only I possessed the audacity to confess my profound love for Yeha...
As I laid my eyes upon her exquisite appearance, I couldn't resist but make my way towards her. Our eyes met, and we exchanged a smile. However, it didn't take long for her to start whining about my forgetfulness in inviting her. How could I possibly explain that the last time we crossed paths was during a thrilling bicycle escapade, where her presence left me breathless and speechless, as she sat so intimately behind me.
As an apology, I said-
"I am sorry Yeha, I will do better next time and I owe you an apology"
"Good!" She replied.
I may sound extremely wierd but, Yeha's little quirks may seem strange, but they have a way of setting my heart ablaze. Her innocent antics, the delicate gestures she uses to convey her thoughts... they all drive me crazy with a desire.
"Would you like to have some drinks?" I asked.
"Sure! Why not?" She replied.
"Alcoholic or Non-alcoholic?" I asked because, even though I had been friends with Yeha for a long time yet, I had no clue if she drinks alcohol or no.
"Alcohol-free. The moment I dared to taste alcohol, I found myself rushing to the hospital in no time!" She jabbered as I giggled.
As I've mentioned earlier, my ability to communicate with girls is quite poor, and I always end up making a mess of things! However, today I feel a little more confident because I remember the day we first met at the cafe. I'm certain that I didn't mess anything up, even though we had a lengthy conversation after a gap of 2-3 months.
I admit that Yeha and I don't talk much, and I acknowledge that it's my fault because I'm too absorbed in my studies and academics. But that doesn't mean I don't think about Yeha. In fact, she occupies my thoughts for half of the day.
We hurriedly made our way to the beverage area, which was conveniently split into two sections: one for alcoholic drinks and the other for non-alcoholic options. It suddenly dawned on me that in South Korea, only individuals who are 19 years old or older are legally allowed to consume alcohol. Anyone below that age is strictly prohibited from drinking alcohol. However, let's not dwell on the fact that we, as teenagers, committed a minor offense by breaking the law and indulging in alcoholic beverages. We opted for the Non-Alcoholic section, where Yeha chose a refreshing cup of Virgin Mojito, while I decided to try a tantalizing Japanese lemonade.
"Seon Ho? I want to eat something, where is the snack counter?" She asked.
"Oh! It's at the left" I showed her the way.
As we arrived at the destination, our eyes were immediately drawn to the tantalizing spread of Korean delicacies. There it was, the mouthwatering Korean fried chicken, accompanied by the irresistible Fried Seaweed Roll (Gimmari, 김말이), and the delectable Korean Fish Cake Balls (Eomuk, 어묵). And that's not all! The aroma of Bibimbap filled the air, tempting our taste buds even further. Yeha couldn't resist and grabbed two pieces of the crispy Korean fried chicken, along with one piece of the savory Korean cake balls. I couldn't help but tease, "Is that all you're going to have?"
"For now?, Yeah!" She replied with a blissful expression.
Currently, we found ourselves perched in our seats, eagerly anticipating the arrival of my parents on stage. In the meantime, I had met with Yeha's closest friend, Kim Jamie. However, our conversations were limited as I didn't interact with her extensively due to her being the younger sister of Kim Jesper.
As my parents gracefully stepped onto the stage, the room erupted in applause and a few enthusiastic spectators even rose from their seats. The enchanting melody of a romantic tune filled the air, setting the perfect ambiance. Dressed in the elegant and vibrant 'Hanbok' (한복) attire, my parents looked like a picture-perfect couple, their outfits perfectly complementing each other.
"Now, we welcome Mr. Nam Jin and Mrs. Woo Rim!" Announces the host.
"We would like to hear few words from both of you!" The host continued.
"Today holds immense significance for the two of us, for it marks the celebration of our wedding anniversary. The memories of that day, when my beloved wife, Woo Rim, graced the aisle in her pristine white wedding gown, are etched vividly in my mind. As I beheld her radiant presence, accompanied by her father, I was captivated by her beauty. Now, two decades have gracefully passed since that momentous occasion, and I can confidently affirm that time may have aged her slightly, but her allure remains as captivating as it was twenty years ago."
"Thanks, Jin!" My mom replies.
"Woo Rim?" The host ask
"Yes," she replies.
"I am truly overjoyed today. One of the reasons being that my husband usually forgets our anniversary, but today was different. He surprised me with a delightful chocolate cake, my absolute favorite. It's hard to believe that 20 years have flown by so quickly. Just look at our 17-year-old son, 'Nam Seon Ho', standing right there, he also has experienced 17 years of his life with us and I didn't even realise that 17 years have passed. My only wish for today is that our future years may be just as blissful as the ones we've already shared." My mom continued.
I couldn't help but blush in embarassment, as my mom singled me out in front of the entire crowd, with all eyes fixed on me. A wave of unease washed over me, and I shifted my gaze towards the stage, where my mom had just concluded her speech.
"Woo Rim, that is not only the suprise." My dad stated.
My mom frowned.
"I have this for you!" My dad continued.
He showed two diamond rings to my mom in front of everyone. God! I had no idea about this, I myself was shocked.
"One is for you and the other one is for me." He explained.
My parents exchanged thier rings.
As I witnessed my parents intertwining their fingers with the exchange of their precious rings, my mind wandered towards Yeha, envisioning a future where we too would exchange vows and embark on a blissful journey, just like my beloved parents. I vowed to shower her with all her heart desires, without holding back. However, a sudden jolt of reality snapped me back to the present moment, reminding me that I hadn't even confessed my deepest feelings to her yet. Wait, did Jesper confess to Yeha?
Shortly after our meal, a sultry whisper tickled my ear, "Seon Ho, it's already 10 in the night, I must go back." I swiveled my head to find Yeha standing there. Though I yearned for her to stay, I understood that ensuring her safety meant allowing her to leave. "Very well, I shall escort you," I commanded, as she acquiesced with a nod.
Yeha eagerly anticipated my arrival at the gate while I made my way to retrieve my sleek black car from the garage, ensuring she could accompany me on our journey together.
I brought the car at the entrance and she hopped in.
For few minutes we had a silent ride until she finally spoke.
"You have a car then, why were you riding a bicycle this afternoon?"
"Oh! I prefer not to bring my car at the school as, people think that I am bragging about it." I explained.
"Okay." She nodded.
"When, I dropped you today evening at home. I heard you calling out for your parents, what happened?" I asked.
"Oh! Nothing, I just couldn't find them as they were at the rooftop." She hesitated.
My admiration for girls, especially my friends, knows no bounds, but Yeha's outfit was simply irresistible, teasing my senses and awakening an insatiable craving deep within me. Her outfit was incredibly alluring and teasing that igniting a irresistible sense in me. It unveiled her thighs, enticingly peeking from beneath, while also exposing her delicate neck and alluring collarbone. "Maybe you should contemplate adorning yourself in less provocative attire," I playfully proposed.
"Why? Am I being seductive?" She teased.
My mind said yes, but my mouth said "no,"
"Are you sureee?" She stared at me.
"Are you done?" I asked with a blank face.
"Probably," she replied.
At last, at 10:25pm we finally reached back home. I opened the door of the car and stepped out and told Yeha to wait. Then, I opened Yeha's car door and unplugged her seatbelt and gave her way to her house. At the end we exchanged pleasing smiles and said "Goodbye."
