CHAPTER FOURTEEN

"SO, IF I were to put hickeys on you and leave a mark on you, you wouldn't mind?" Napatanga at hindi makagalaw si Denryl sa sinabi ni Laurentius sa kaniya.

He was speaking hypothetically, right? Like, he's just trying to put a said homosexual guy in his hypothetical question to put the said hickeys on him, right? It was not Laurentius, himself, he hopes? A guy like him wouldn't do that to Denryl . . . right? Why would he do that in the first place?

"Uh, a-ano, I, I." He couldn't form a proper sentence and he looks like a blabbering fish out of water. Cute.

Natawa si Laurentius sa pagkabalisa niya kaya medyo natahimik siya roon at napatulala lang sa kaharap. He didn't get what's so funny. Is he making fun of him? Or maybe he was just kidding around . . ?

"I'm just kidding," natatawang sabi ni Laurentius sa kaniya na may mischievous glint in his eyes. Something inside Denryl was relieved when he heard Laurentius was just kidding about it.

"Ikaw, ha, marunong ka na pa lang magbiro." Denryl gently slapped Laurentius' hard chest as he teased him. Napatingin si Laurentius sa hinawakan na parte ni Denryl. "You look more handsome kapag tumata---hey! Anong ginagawa mo? Ibaba mo 'ko!"

Bigla na lang kinarga ni Laurentius ang ma-ingay na lalaki papunta sa kilid ng dock. Tinignan niya ang tubig sa baba, at mukhang ayos lang naman kung i-tapon niya roon ang karga-kargang lalaki.

"Teka, huwag mong sabihin itatapon mo ako sa tubig! No, stop!" tarantang sabi ni Denryl sabay hampas sa mga malalapad na balikat ni Laurentius. Hindi ito ininda nang lalaki.

"Too late."

At siya nga ay itinapon ni Laurentius sa marahan na dagat. His body collides with the surface of the water that creates a huge splash. Wala na ring inaksayang na oras si Laurentius at sumunod na tumalon sa asul na karagatan.

Nang umahon si Denryl, natatawa niyang hinarap ang lalaki sa tabi. As Laurentius laughs, Denryl can see how bright his blue pair of eyes are. They're very vibrant than usual today. They seemed glowing with genuine emotion and pure intent. And he can feel himself drowning in them.

Napatigil na lang si Laurentius sa pag tawa nang mapansin ang intensidad na pag titig sa kaniya ni Denryl. It's like, the guy is mesmerized by him. And he loves how Denryl stares at him.

Lumangoy siya papalit dito at ilang pulgada lang ang layo nila sa isa't-isa. Isang galaw nang isa sa kanila ay baka magdikit na ang katawan nila.

"Alam mo," panimula roon ni Denryl. "Kung hindi ka lang sana fuckboy at isang gago, I think I would find you a perfect guy to settle with."

Laurentius' breath hitched from the words. There's something inside that triggers or awaken in him. Something warm and fuzzy. An unquenched heat deep within. It is very foreign and familiar at the same time. But he loves the feeling of it.

"Some people change," he said, eyeing every details of Denryl's face. The gorgeous face of Denryl never failed to amazed him, even though he's trying to hate the guy all those years. His face was an epitome of a pretty man or a male descendant of Aphrodite. A guy with quite feminine feature to die for.

"But the past and wrongdoings are still there. And I believe you cannot rewrite the history," marahan na bigkas sa kaniya ni Denryl before continuing, "unless isa kang pedophile na direktor or irrelevant dancer na historian."

"W-What?" he confusingly asked him. Who now?

"Guwapo ka nga, bingi naman," Denryl said again, as they still stare at each other.

"You're cute and pretty, pero tatanga naman sa pag-ibig," Laurentius teases back. Hinampas siya ni Denryl sa dibdib, kaya natawa silang dalawa ng mahina.

Denryl grabbed his left chest to indicate masakit daw doon. His heart. "Aray naman. Purong katotohanan na iyang pinagsasabi mo, ha. Napaka-personal." Laurentius just shrugged at this with a smile.

"But will you try to love someone . . . again?" Laurentius curiously asks.

Biglang natahimik ang paligid nila. Laurentius was anticipating on what will Denryl answer to it. If Denryl says 'yes', maybe he'll take a risk. And if not, he can still pursue him, right?

"I don't know." Denryl heaved a deep sigh as he tried to feel himself. "If someone's genuine enough, or even show himself worth for my love, why not, 'di ba? Jeimson left a big toll on me when he cheated, and it made me hard to believe in some things that some guys out there are still loyals. I'm not generalizing naman, pero parang 'yon na nga."

"Do you think I'm capable of changing?"

"Ikaw? Hm . . ." Nag-iisip kuno roon si Denryl about kay Laurentius if he can ever change. "I think you can. You seemed willing enough upang magbago at ibalik ang pagkakaibigan natin."

"What if friendship isn't the thing I want to commence with you? Paano kung hindi pagkakaibigan ang gusto ko from you? What if it was an intimate relationship? With you?" he asked the million dollar question and dropped the bomb. He feels lighter now-now that he said that.

"What?" Denryl was kinda stunned. Is he being serious right now, or is he cracking a joke?

He never saw Laurentius as his lover---since they were bickering and at each other's throats. Nor even a potential admirer. He was quite naive about it, but they do clicked together and pretty well. Or was he blinded about the fact that he'd been dating Jeimson so it never crossed his mind to like Laurentius romantically?

"What if I want us . . ." Laurentius immediately closed the distance between them and snakes his arm to Denryl's waist to hold him there. Sobrang lapit na nila ngayon at parang napugto ang hininga ni Denryl habang pinagmasdan ang lalaking kinulong siya sa kaniyang bisig. "To be more than friends. And be like . . . lovers, perhaps. Is that fine with you?"

Denryl couldn't believe on what is happening right now. But the blue eyes eyeing him with full of sincerity and hopefulness, he knows this is happening. He just can't understand why him. Out of all the people, why him?

Aren't they just . . . casual friends?

"Why me?" he simply asks in a whisper. Laurentius heard it.

"Why not?" Laurentius countered his question. He have one million reasons to give him. Heck, he could even write an essay about it. "Listen, I can see that your heart and soul are the purest of them all since I've first met you. You are fun to be with, and it was easy for me to smile around you. You always think of other's before yourself. You're always considerate, even though I was a jerk to you back then. Damn, I could still give you a lot of reasons to like you."

Something tags Denryl's heart and he felt his stomach flipped. "But we're friends."

"Fuck that. I want us to be more than friends," sabi lang niya roon.

"B-But how can you say you like me? Since when? Am I really naive thinking kaibigan lang ang turing mo sa akin?" nagugulohang tanong ni Denryl sa kaniya.

"Since we were college, I guess," he truthfully answered Denryl.

Nanlaki ang mata ni Denryl sa narinig. "Since college? Bakit hindi ko alam 'yon?"

"Because before I could confess my feelings for you, I discovered that you and that jerk were dating. I would look stupid if I confessed to you in front of that asshole," kuwento niya roon. "So, I kept my feelings deep within me and did anything just to forget you. I visited clubs, bars and even fuck girls who willingly throws themselves at me. I was being shitty to you so that my hatred would be stronger than my affection for you. And I know I hurt you a lot by my harsh words, and now I'm sorry.

"I'm sorry if I made you offended and attacked. I'm so sorry if I ever hurt your feelings more than I could imagine. I'm sorry for doing those to you. I was honestly an arsehole to you," pag hingi niya ng patawad sa lalaki.

Akala ni Laurentius sasagotin siya ng kausap, but a soft and warm lips clasp to his own lips. At first, it didn't register to him on what is happening, until he moved along and kisses him back. It was slow and passionate at first, but then he felt Denryl deepened it. Getting hot, he also deepened their kiss and his hands freely roamed the heated body of his partner.

"What happened?" nagugulohang tanong ni Laurentius kay Denryl.

"Hindi dapat natin 'to ginagawa." Denryl starts hyperventilating. "Paano na lang kung makita ng tao na g-ganito tayo? Ano na lang ang sabihin nila? Paano kung may maka-alam na kakilala natin na ginagawa natin 'to? Paano kapag husgahan nila tayo?"

Nilapitan siya ni Laurentius. Agad na hinawakan ni Laurentius ang mga kamay ni Denryl and brought it to his soft lips. "Hey, hey, it's fine," he whispered toward him as he gave a small pecks to his hands. Napabaling ang mga mata ni Denryl sa kaniya.

"Natatakot ako, Law," Denryl admitted.

"What are you scared of? Tell me, Denz, please."

"Natatakot akong baka ma-ulit ang ginawa sa akin ni Jeimson. Baka . . . b-baka iwan at lokohin mo rin ako. Ayaw ko nang sumugal sa pag-ibig. It is the most scary thing to be in as of the moment," mahabang salaysay ni Denryl doon.

"Hey," Laurentius gave another peck on Denryl's delicate hands. He's trying to give assurance to Denryl. "I'm always here. I'm always here for you. No matter what circumstances, I'll always be here for you."

Kinurap ni Denryl ang mga luha na tutulo sana sa mga mata niya. He's being paranoid, but Jeimson did left a big toll on him. It was the biggest betrayal he experienced in his whole damned life. It's a normal emotion to be anxious about it since his feelings are valid. Your feelings are valid. Block and avoid those insensitive people in your life.

"Hindi ko pa kaya, Law. Words aren't enough as reassurance. Iba na ang panahon ngayon," ani Denryl doon.

Laurentius is genuine, alright. But does he really give a deep thought about this? Would he even nourish this if they ever enter an intimate relationship? Would he stay? Forever?

Dumagdag din iyong sinabi ni Romero sa kaniya bago ito umalis. "Be careful with Altarejos. He's known for breaking women's heart and butt virginity. You don't know him well, so stay away from him as possible."

"But he's a nice person to me," nagugulohang sagot niya sa lalaki.

Naalala niya ang pag-uusap nila ni Romero bago ito umalis sa Achilles Resort. He's been warned, but his mind and heart became haywire. He knows he can trust Laurentius. He can see it in his eyes.

"A-Ano?" na-u-utal na tanong ni Denryl sa kaniya. Is he suggesting sex with him? Agad-agad?!

"Fuck, I don't know how to put these into words. But it was easy if I am just asking for a hook-up," frustrated na sabi roon ni Laurentius.

"I get it," sabi agad ni Denryl. "Do you want to have sex with me? Am I right?"

Laurentius immediately nodded with a sweetest smile he could give to anyone. It almost made Denryl melt on his spot. "And a promise, that my body and heart are only for you. It beats only for you."

Cheesy man ang sinabi niya, but that's how he feel right now. He feels like giving everything Denryl. He feels like giving up his life just to be with Denryl. Hindi niya kayang i-describe ang nadarama. All he can say is that he's in love again. With Denryl. And he wants them to be boyfriends or even better than that. Husbands.

Denryl, on the other hand, couldn't grasp the fact that Laurentius loves him. That was fast, so maybe he is just confuse with his feelings. He mistaken 'like' with 'love'. So he said, "may dapat kang malaman."

Slowly, naglakad sila papatungo sa kuwarto ni Denryl kahit busy sila sa labi nang isa't-isa. Laurentius is doing a good job since sobrang nadadala si Denryl sa mga halik nito. His knees are wobbling from anticipation and excitement. Of course, hindi nawala ang kaba at pagdadalawang-isip doon ni Denryl kung tama pa ba itong ginagawa nila.

He promised to himself that sa kaniyang unang asawa niya lang iaalay ang virginity. And Laurentius easily broke that promise.

Does he want this? Absolutely. Will this change everything? Most definitely.

Naramdaman na lang ni Denryl na nasa silid na niya sila na patuloy pa rin sa pag-akin sa mga labi nang isa't-isa. Pinanggigilan ni Laurentius ang labi niya na para itong delicacy na ngayon lang nito natikman. It's addicting.

Denryl met Laurentius' gaze, at nakikita niya ang mga emosyon doon. His eyes are full of affection, desire, lust, heat and an emotion he couldn't fathom.

"Are you sure you're really into this? 'Cause I don't want to do it if you're not a hundred sure." Laurentius wanted to make it sure. Ayaw niyang i-push si Denryl sa ayaw nito. And sex is a biggest stepping stone to make.
