23. Met Again

Three weeks later..

Jungkook has started to work at another workplace. He stayed in the same company, but works in a different departement now. He's at the supermarket during his lunch break to get some chocolate. Jungkook walks up to the checkout and stands in line with two people in front of him. He sighs and glances at the guy before him. Jungkook freezes, his heart sinks in his chest. He would recognize Taehyung from every angle. It's definitively him with his soft, blonde hair. Jungkook gulps and feels nervous. He doesn't know what to do. For a second, he wants to turn around and hide- but then his eyes fall on the package of cigarettes on the counter. Jungkook feels sudden anger rise in his blood. "What the fuck are you buying?!"

Taehyung's shoulder tenses before he turns around, staring at Jungkook with widened eyes. He seems to be shocked to see him here.

They stare at each other in silence for a few seconds. Jungkook runs his eyes across Taehyung's pretty features. He has missed him so much.

"What did you just say?"

"Who are the fucking cigarettes for?"

Taehyung scoffs and turns his back to Jungkook again, ignores him.

"I hope that you are buying the cigarettes for someone else," Jungkook mutters, but Taehyung keeps silent. He is next in line, pays for the package and walks out of the supermarket without throwing another glance at Jungkook.

Jungkook quickly pays for his chocolate and rushes outside. He spots Taehyung walking towards the pedestrian lights. Jungkook catches up with him and grabs his arm.

"Don't touch me!" Taehyung snaps and turns around with a glare, steps away.

"Who did you buy the cigarettes for? Don't tell me that you have started smoking."

"Are you serious?!" Taehyung shakes his head in disbelief. "It's none of your fucking business!"

"Tell me!"

Taehyung scoffs and pulls the packet out of his pocket, opens it in a provoking manner. He takes a cigarette out and places it between his lips.

"You don't smoke."

"Normally I don't, but looks like I am stressed."

Jungkook curses, knowing exactly what Taehyung is doing right now. He reaches out, snatches the cigarette out of Taehyung's mouth and the packet out of his hand.

"Yah! Are you crazy? Give it back! I paid for it."

"No."

Taehyung closes the distance between them. There's anger in his eyes, frustration. "Give me the packet back!"

"No!"

"You have no right to do this. If you don't want me to call the cops for getting robbed in the middle of the day- you better give me back my cigarettes!"

"No. You don't smoke. You are just doing it to provoke me-"

"I do what?" Taehung scoffs, his expression is unreadable. "I don't give a fuck about you. Give me my cigarettes back. I am stressed."

Jungkook knows that he is childish right now, but he still shoves the packet in the pocket of his pants and starts walking away.

"You got to be kidding me!" Taehyung follows Jungkook. "Don't interfere in my life for fuck's sake! Don't take away my cigarettes, and don't beat up my ex-boyfriend! We have no business with each other anymore, so leave me alone!"

Jungkook stops walking and turns around to look at Taehyung. He closes the distance again, gives him a once-over, checks if he has any visible bruises. "Did you meet that asshole again? Did he do-"

Fuck off!" Taehung says, something like hurt flashes across his face. "Keep the cigarettes, I don't give a shit anymore," he adds and turns away, starts walking back in the other direction.

"Did you meet Minho again or not?" Jungkook asks and follows him.

"Leave me alone!"

Jungkook suddenly remembers Hobi. Remembers that Taehyung's friend has seen them fighting in front of the bar. He must have told Taehyung about it. "I punched Minho because he has hurt you. That's all."

"Yeah?" Taehyung stops and looks at Jungkook. He seems to hesitate. "I hope you punched yourself, too, then- for hurting me as well."

Jungkook closes his eyes for a second. That hit home. But Taehyung is right. And Jungkook is acting like an asshole once again. He has no right to do whatever he is doing here. Jungkook pulls out the packet and hands it to him. "Here. I'm sorry. I don't know what has gotten into me."

Taehyung stares at the cigarettes in Jungkook's hands for a moment and takes them- shoves the packet in his pocket. He opens his mouth to say something, but then he decides against it. Wordlessly, Taehyung turns around and starts moving.

Jungkook sees the car racing down the street. He realizes that Taehyung isn't even paying attention to the red light. Jungkook's heart beats out of his chest when he rushes towards him, grabs Taehyung's arm to pull him against his chest- the cigarettes falling out of his pocket. "Yah!" Jungkook has his arm tightly wrapped around Taehyung's waist. His pulse is racing. He stares at Taehyung with widened eyes- ignores the honking driver. "Are you fucking crazy?!! Can't you look before you cross the road?! The lights were red! You could-"

"Let go of me."

"No."

"Let go of me!"

"No!" Jungkook tightens his arm around Taehyung's waist, enjoys having him back in his arms- even though he knows it won't last. He sighs. "Please, give me five minutes to talk to you."

"Let me go right now or I will start calling for help."

"No." Jungkook shakes his head. "I will silence you with my lips if you do that."

Taehyung opens his mouth and stares at him in disbelief. He looks taken aback. "Let me go!"

"Five minutes. That's all I am asking-"

"I said no!" Taehyung slaps Jungkook. Just lightly- it doesn't hurt. But Jungkook feels a pang in his chest. He lets go of him.

Taehyung bends down to take the packet and runs away.
