Chapter 8: Bilbo Baggins
Aerlinniel POV
After a while, Gandalf finally returned. We headed off to...I don't know where. Eventually, we get off of our horse's and walk the rest of the way. Gandalf said that we will come back for them later.
Wherever we are right now, has a peaceful and happy feeling to it. I hear a lot of heart beats.
"Gandalf, where are we?" I ask him.
"We are in the in the Shire." He tells me.
Gandalf has told me of the Shire before. It's where Hobbits live. That explains all of the heart beats.
"So, does this mean I finally get to meet a Hobbit?" I ask Gandalf.
I have wanted to meet a Hobbit ever since Gandalf told me about them when I was little. I was always, and still am, so fascinated by them.
"Yes, my dear. His name is Bilbo Baggins. And we are going to his house for a meeting with the Dwarves. The reason why we are going to his house, is because we also need Bilbo's help on this quest."
I hear familiar heart beats coming from behind us, and I am confused at first, until I realize that it is some of the Dwarves. If I remember right, it's probably: Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Ori, Nori, Dori, Gloin, and Oin.
"Gandalf, some of the Dwarves are behind us." I tell him.
"Evening, Gandalf and Aerlinniel." Gloin says to us.
"Again, sorry Aerlinniel for kidnapping you." Bofur apologizes, and I hear the other Dwarves all grunt in agreement.
I smile at them, "No need to apologize, you did not know. But, if it makes you feel better, you are forgiven.
We walk up the steps, I'm having to be careful, and someone rings the door bell. I hear shouting coming from inside. I can not tell what they're saying, but they sound angry.
The door opens and all of the Dwarves fall over and start grumbling. I stifle a laugh. I hear someone give a sigh.
"Gandalf." He says, relieved.
Once the Dwarves get up, they rush inside. I remember that Hobbits are small, so I have to be very careful. Gandalf and I step inside.
"Bilbo, this is Aerlinniel. And Aerlinniel, this is Bilbo." Gandalf introduces us.
"It is a pleaser to meet you, Bilbo." I tell him and I slightly bow.
"It's nice to meet you, too." Bilbo says.
We walk to where the the Dwarves are. I can tell by their heart beats that Balin, Dwalin, Fili, and Kili are also here. By the sounds of it, they are all getting food. And Bilbo sounds really frustrated.
"Excuse me, Mr. Gandalf and Aerlinniel. May I tempt you with a cup of chamomile?" Dori asks Gandalf and I.
"I would love a cup of chamomile, thank you Dori." I say and hold out my hand. He hands me a small cup of the tea.
"No thank you, Dori. A little red wine for me, I think." Gandalf says and walks out of the room.
I follow being him, taking a small sip of my tea because its still hot. Gandalf bonks into what sounds like a chandeler. I laugh at him and I can feel him staring at me. Then he starts naming the Dwarves, I guess to see if they are all here.
"Uh, Fili, Kili. Uh, Oin, Gloin. Dwalin, Balin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Dori, Nori. Ori!" Bifur says something to Gandalf, that I don't quite understand. And Gandalf says, "Yes, you're quite right, Bifur. We appear to be one Dwarf short."
I think for a moment, who could we be missing? Then is hits me. Thorin.
"He is late, is all. He traveled north to a meeting of our kin. He will come." Dwalin informs Gandalf.
"Mr. Gandalf? A little glass of red wine, as requested. It's got a fruity bouquet." Dori says to Gandalf.
"Oh, cheers." Gandlad says and takes a sip. "Hmm."
"What Gandalf?" I ask.
"I took a sip and now it's gone." He says.
I snicker, "That must be one small cup."
"Yeah, yeah." Gandalf says.
Gandalf joins the Dwarves in the dining room. It's too crazy in there, so I don't go in with Gandalf. Bilbo is standing nest to me. I hear him sigh.
"What wrong Bilbo?" I ask him.
"The Dwarves took all of my food. I wasn't even expecting company. I don't know what's going on." He tells me.
I get up and go into the dining room and grab a roll. I go back over to Bilbo and hand it to him.
"I'm sorry, this must have been one crazy day for you. And, I don't really know what's going on either. I'm guessing we will find out soon though." I say to the Hobbit, giving him a smile.
"Thank you for being so kind to me. And thank you for the roll." Bilbo says.
"No problem." I tell him.
After a while, I walk around. I wish I could see what this place looked like. I run my fingers along a wall. I walk back to where everybody is and I hear Bilbo shouting at Gandalf.
"I don't understand what they're doing in my house!" Bilbo shouts.
"Excuse me. I'm sorry to interrupt, but what should I do with my plate?" Ori asks.
"Here you go, Ori. Give it to me." Fili says and I hear something fly past my face. He must of thrown the plate.
I keep hearing them being thrown, so I back up against the wall.
"Excuse me. That's my mother's West Farthing pottery. It's over 100 years old!" Bilbo tells them.
I hear metal clanging together. My only guess would be the silverware.
"Could you please not do that? You'll blunt them." Bilbo says, frustrated.
"Ooh. Do you hear that, lads? He says we'll blunt the knives." Bofur says.
And that's when the singing starts.
"Blunt the knives, bend the forks"
"Smash the bottles and burn the corks"
"Chip the glasses and crack the plates
That's what Bilbo Baggins hates
Cut the cloth, tread the fat
Leave the bones on the bedroom mat
Poor the milk on the pantry floor
Slplash the wine on every door
Dump the crocks in a boiling bowl
Pound them up with a thumping pole
When you're finished if any are whole
Send them down the hall to roll
That's what Bilbo Baggins hates!"
They finish their song and they all start laughing. Then I hear a pounding on the door and everyone's goes quiet. And Gandalf says,
"He is here."
